Naijaforeigner: Ok I get it. Western is a very very very good school but the fees are on the high side like you said.
When you get to Canada, you will get clarity on the next steps to follow.
All the best. Thank you |

Cathneblack: Dear Anon, a lot of you don’t verify before putting up information. As a matter of fact you don’t even need Canadian education to get Pr. And I am pretty sure that Canadian education will help boost your score if you have foreign education and work experience. There are so many programs to get Pr from Canada. Kindly stop giving people wrong information. Hello please can I send you a mail? Thanks in advance |

Naijaforeigner: Yes, it is possible to get a master's admission with a very good result and good academic referral on completion of your PGC.
Are you thinking of coming to Canada, complete college and then go for master's? Oh wow thanks. Actually I got admission at western university for masters but the tuition was so high, so I randomly applied to 1 more university and 1 college. Fortunately for me, the college responded to me with admission before the other university and I used the college admission which is Conestoga to apply for my SP. So now I was thinking of my plans after my college program, if it's possible to still further to masters with a graduate certificate or I go for another random program to secure 3 years pgwp. |

Fgmp12: It’s never impossible to get PR with a year of study but it’s highly unlikely. It’s a point system and the higher your points , the higher chances of you getting the PR. What about those who go through nomination program of pilot programs? |

Hello good morning everyone.
I am new to this thread, I can see so many pages I don't even know where to start from.. Please I would like the gurus on here to reply to my message.
Firstly I will be going for 1 year college degree in Canada. Conestoga college to be precise, and I would also like to pursue my PR journey within that year.. How can I go about it? I heard I will have 1 year pgwp before I can apply for PR. Please note the college is in Ontario, what option are opened to me? PNP or which option? Thank you for your response. |

Wow thank you so much for this information. I really learnt alot from it. God bless you Ayoola03: Long post alert!
Hello fam, it's been a while here but first of all, my special appreciations goes to @Frankrobben1 @mcobex and @justwise, thanks alot for everything and am highly sorry i have not been so regular to contribute my quota on this great platform. Funny enough, i wanted to drop this post few weeks earlier but it has not been easy balancing work, personal life and family, it has been draining and exhausting at the same time but all the same, i thank God. @Osemigho, longest time to you bro .
An important info: If you are currently in Canada and interested in a Work from home Customer Service Representative/Technical Support position, i know of a company that is currently hiring for multiple positions across Canada and they are 90% responsive employer, if interested please send me a PM stating your province and state.
Secondly, please guys brace up and start improving your skills. Studying in Canada is nothing compared to the big struggle which is the labour market, anyone that says getting a professional job is easy is just deceiving you, Canadian employers value skill sets more than your qualifications infact 0.1/1000 would ask for your certificate before hiring you, what they are after is what you have to offer the company in terms of skill sets. I am not trying to scare anyone here but i want you all to think beyond just coming to Canada to study but what lies ahead of you after study. This is a topic that no one talks about and as you are waiting for your approval response from CIC or preparing to travel, start improving both your soft, interview and technical skills.
Before you graduate, start networking with experienced professionals in your field, i cant emphasize this enough, ask questions and dont get tired of doing so, information is power in Canada and a person who doesn't seek for it will be left in the dark. Know the required certifications in your field, begin the journey before you graduate and make sure you get the most out of it. Let me sight an example. My younger brother just graduated in April, he did his masters in cyber security (am sure some people know him on this platform), this guy had studied his field and labour market to know the hot cake certifications he needed to get although they are quite expensive but he was working per time just to raise money to write those exams, he now has the following certifications before grad. for the benefit of anyone who might be interested: Security+ over $450CAD, CCNA over $450CAD, ITILA4 Over $400CAD, AWS SAA over $200CAD. (Although i have no idea of what all this means cos its not my field lol) This guy in question got multiple offers 2 months to his graduation (last feb) and all these companies were ready to wait till he graduate, he picked one and declined the other offers and the pay is crazy. Anyone who knows the trend would testify to the fact that Medical line and IT are hot cake field in Canada. He is currently working on another certification which is targeting a bigger position in IT banking sector and he recently got a new offer with TD bank with mouth watering pay and benefits.
The morale of this story is, he looked beyond just studying and prepared for life after school, he took the pain to invest in himself now he is reaping the reward. And one of the issues i noticed among we Nigerians is we dont always want to spend money to invest in ourselves if you are bringing that mentality of course, you are totally wrong. Do not wait till the last minutes as a student before you start moulding your life, the struggles start immediate you resume school, open your eyes and ears wide please and dont dull yourself.
Remember you are coming to compete with millions of Canadians and intelligent immigrants in the job market, even to get a minimum wage job, you must be sound, intelligent and outspoken, qualifications is garbage in Canada in fact the minimum educational requirements for most managerial/top positions is college degree and at most Bsc. This was why i stated in one of my previous post that pHD degree is a disadvantage in Canada. Dont misquote me please, am not discouraging anyone not to pursue your pHD dream, the choice is yours and it is totally fine if you are using pHD stream to migrate to Canada. if you have passion for pHD, please go for it but if you are in the category of people who has a Naija mentality thinking getting a pHD degree would increase their chances of getting a field job, sorry would be your case because you will end up been overqualified for most positions. Before completing my masters degree, there were 3 pHD students and 2 masters students that were wrapping up in my research group, my supervisor recommended them for some job positions in the industry but unfortunately the masters students were hired while the PHD students were not hired, they were told they are overqualified for the position. Few years back, i applied for my current job with my masters degree appearing on my resume and i didn't even get a green light, the following year, the same company posted the same job, i deleted my masters degree and reapplied and got an interview request the following day and BAM! i landed the job. That is just to give you an idea of how things are running here so if you are planning to stay and work permanently in Canada, don't be too carried away by acquiring degrees because it will end up been useless but your skill sets + Certifications can take you to places.
I have a lot of hints to share but let me drop my pen here
It will surely end in praise |

oma22: But how have they concluded eligibility review for people who applied in June and yet people like me that applied since March 8, got my medical request in April. Did and passed the medicals in May. Yet nothing. And my school resumes September 8 and just emailed me that I will be provided letter to show at my home country border and Canadian border to enable me cross.
They will also provide 2 weeks quarantine plan including airport pickup, accommodation, food, etc for $800. They also said I have to make it to Canada before August.
So I wonder why they are so fast with people who don’t have a complete application and a lot of people with complete application are still hanging.
August 15 is approximately 3 weeks from now. Wow which school if I may ask? |

It's well understood. Thank you very much. Osemigho: As someone said before, you can renew your permit after. However, it might not be a prudent decision to attend a college first, then masters, except you have a low GPA. I will go for a masters if I can. If you are worried about securing admission, you will always see schools that offer multiple semester admission for professional programs like MEng. Your money is important to them. All the best. |

Thank you for your response. I have my ATAS and offer letter ready.. Also what do u mean by bank account for 28 and well as TB test? Thank you once again justwise: 1. Do you have all the requirements ready?..all the money needed in your bank account for 28?
2. Done your TB test?
If your answer to all that question is No then defer your admission to Jan or next Sept because you can't make it.. |

Minah2020: Hello good morning everyone, This is my first time on this platform.
Please I would like to enquire about the student visa requirement on how to apply. I got admission since March at the university of hull for masters in chemical engineering for septemeber2020 and unfortunately for me, I was not certain I would go. But I have decided to go.
Is it possible I can still make this September entry? Also if I plan to defer, how can I go about the process and well the bank statement. My dad is my sponsor. Please can someone reply me? Thanks |

Ohh I see. Thank you very much for this! Anon123: Yes.. You apply for an extension with the masters admission. To do that you need to apply the masters admission 7months before you graduate. Reason being that masters admission takes 5-6months before a decision is made to issue you an admission or not.. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Minah2020: 9:32pm On Aug 05, 2020 |
Wow thank you for your insight... I am really grateful. God bless. But what if I decide to go for the college and also go for a year masters afterwards, is the student permit renewable? Osemigho: You can get MEng admission with lower tuition elsewhere. I think University of Calgary tuition for international student in the program is about 16,000. You are likely to get three years work permit with One year masters, while one year college program will get you one year work permit. Both program will help you when applying for PR, but masters is rated higher for that.
For job, no program can guarantee that. However, college and Bachelor degree graduates are likely to have more opportunities due to abundance of entry level positions. Masters degree is considered high level for most profession and most international students do not have the Canadian professional experience to support it. So, these makes them over qualified for abundant entry level positions but unqualified or less qualified for senior and high level positions.
At the end you have to ask yourself what you want and be ready to persevere. You should also connect with people in your desired field while in school. All the best. |

Hello good afternoon everyone... I have finished my BSc in chemical engineering with 2.1 and I got admission at western university to study Meng in chemical engineering for 1 year but the tuition fee was about 33,000 cad which seems expensive to me, so I decided to apply to Conestoga College to study process quality engineering, and I have been given admission.
So now my question is that, if I am to go to the college, I will be graduating with Ontario college graduate certificate in process quality engineering which is a 1 year program. With this course, can I get a good job with it, compared to when I have my masters? Secondly, is it possible to get a PR with such certificate? Lastly, how good are colleges compared to universities in terms of job opportunities and also recognition. I would be glad if any of the gurus here respond to me, thank you for your time. |
