I’m so tired of waiting. I waited a month for my medical request. I waited 2 months for a sputum test and another 2 months for my post X-ray and report submission.

IRCC confirmed receipt of my medicals since Feb 18 and according to my GCMS notes, my case has been “ready for assessment” since Feb 22. Eligibility, criminality and everything passed since last year yet no news. Another 2 months of silence making it 7 in total. The wait is much too long.
Hello. Was your initial medical exam done on the request of IRCC or was it done upfront?

Okay, thank you for the clarification. Lol @ Ma fo ooo. I wonder what that means.

I used caipsnotes but its quite expensive. You can reach out to Anon and very affordable. Same day of application same time they deliver.
Hello Teemenzo, can you please provide more information about caipsnotes? Do you mean one can get the notes same day one applies? How much is it and what website did you use?

You will be fine. POF is funds that can be readily available, they have seen that 25% clause over and over again and know it is real. As long as there are other funds you have presented that can take care of the person before the 4 months to get this one from pension, hence it should not pose any issues at all.

All the best with yours, we will rejoice with you soon.
Thanks for your reassuring words, Vivian. My faith is kindled and I look forward to a positive outcome.

Reference letter from my pension manager

Please note that I did not make any deposit or pay tuition as my school did not ask me to at the time of my application.

Very much thanks to Mr. Frankrobbn1 of fandrglobal.com who handled my second application. I was refused on financial and personal assets ground for my 1st application. He repackaged my application and God made it happen.
Congratulations Aranmony.

Did you use your pension as POF or as home tie or as both POF and home tie?

Hello Mindful,
Thanks alot.

I only submitted the quarterly SOA for my pension which had about 10M, then did the calculation for the 25% and stated that i would be entitled to it 4 months after I have left work and that 25% is the only part I added to my POF total. Hope you get what I mean...
It is relieving to see that 25% RSA balance is being accepted as POF. I also used it in my application but I have been doubtful about it because of the clause in the reference letter on the accessibility of the 25%. However, I have seen a couple of persons approved even with the reference letter and by God’s grace, mine will be approved also.

Sorry about your refusal, Sandra. What were the reasons for the refusal? In the retainer agreement you signed with your representative, isn’t there a clause that she will reapply for you in the event of a refusal?

My people! Please I have a question about this CIBC student pay. I took the payment instruction to the bank this week but I'm yet to be debited. However I just received a notification from CIBC that I need to complete the payment by tomorrow. So I'm just wondering if I should ignore since I've already initiated the process at the bank.
I'd appreciate anyone who has an idea on how this works. I'm paying with my naira account. Thanks

2) the 25% of the RSA was quoted as part of POF for my second year living expense.

Congratulations!!!

Please, I have a couple of questions on your POF.

1. What was the content of the reference letter from Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers Limited?
2. How come you used your RSA as POF rather than home ties since you had your first year funds covered through your savings, entrance award and student loan?

Can I fund my GIC through Form A?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by MindfulV:
Dear All,

My school charges same tuition for both local and international students and then charges international students an extra 1,000 CAD each semester, which amounts to about 6,000 CAD for the 2-year duration of the program. When stating my tuition for visa purpose, would it be just the tuition or the tuition plus the extra 6,000 CAD that I would be required to pay as an international student?

God bless anyone that answers my question.

Hi MindfulV

There was no allusion to her study permit application in the employer's reference letter. The employer's letter simply stated that the applicant was seeking to visit Canada during her leave period and that she be assisted in the process.

I hope the above satisfy your enquiry.

Hi Everyone,

I have been a silent reader all along and this post is on behalf of my wife.

She applied for Canadian study visa on 18/02/2021 and since then the waiting game started. This morning, she opened her mail and coincidentally, 2 emails dropped from IRCC within the space of about 3 minutes. Could it be the good news we all have been waiting for? The emails stated that there were messages to be checked in the profile.

We summoned the courage to check her profile and lo and behold, it was an approval! Both PPR and BvL came at about the same time. We thank God Almighty for the success.

A lot happened in-between the time of the application and PPR. She had sent several webforms seeking to know status of the application. IRCC always responded with the generic emails, starting with "under active review" and then later to "in process". Yet we kept faith alive. She also had to migrate her international passport into a new one, just because her old passport would expire early next year, whereas she will be going for a 2-year program. When she obtained the new passport (this process took about 6 weeks), she notified IRCC by webform. She had to also defer her admission from Summer to Fall of 2021 and she notified IRCC by webform.

Her timeline is as follows:

- Upfront Medical: 7/12/2020 at QLife
- Applied: 18/02/2021
- Biometrics Request: 19/02/2021
- Biometrics done: 24/02/2021
- Medical Updated to Passed: 26/02/2021
-PPR and BvL: 3/06/2021

Her supporting documents are as follows:

Academic qualifications:

1) Offer and Letter of Admission for MSc Program at TRU, Canada.
2) Transcripts for 1st degree in Nigeria
3) Transcripts for 2nd degree in Nigeria
4) IELTS Result
5) WAEC Result
6) 6-page SOP
7) Certificate of Being on Dean's Honour's Rolls at undergraduate level

Employment:

1) Offer of Employment Letter. She works in a bank.
2) Reference Letter from Employer
3) Employment ID Card
4) Payslips for 6 months
5) Resume

Financial qualifications:

1) MyBank Statement from her for 1 year
2) MyBank Statement from husband for 1 year

6) Funding Letter from her supervisors, to the tune of CA$20,000.00
7) Evidence of payment for a semester (CA$6,000)

1) Birth Certificates of husband and the children;
2) Marriage Certificate
3) Business Name Registration Certificate of Husband's firm
4) Husband’s Offer of Employment Letter

She is 39 years old and has 3 kids between 6-10. She was very anxious because of her age and also because she is seeking for a 2nd masters program. We weren't sure what IRCC would say to these.

The kids did not apply with her. They will apply for study permits as soon as her PP is stamped. I hope I am not leaving out any important info.

You'll need to provide proof that your husband is well established. I've gone through your previous posts, your source of fund is basically your salary. If your employer is able to state that you'll still be on the payroll while studying in Canada, that will go a long way, but that also depends on the program you're going for and what is written in your sop.
Thanks for your response. It is quite a tough one as I will not want to let my employer know about my plans of leaving for school. I will see how I can work around it.

30k CAD (inclusive of tuition fee) is enough for a self sponsored applicant going for a 1 year program. If you're going for 2 years program, funds available must cover the entire 2 years duration. I'm estimating a little above 55k cad for you, or you provide a convincing explanation in regards to where the fund for your second year will come from. This is just an opinion.
Does providing a convincing explanation (without showing proof) on how I expect to raise the tuition for the second year suffice? I am self-sponsored, I present my bank statement showing 30k CAD to cover my first year tuition and living expense and then say my husband will support my second year tuition, do I need to attach his bank statement?

Hello Lovesarrow,

I am of the opinion that management courses like GBM are quite easy to justify, however, kindly supply the following information let me see if there are points I can put forward.

1. What’s your undergraduate degree?

2. How many years banking experience?

3. Are you doing specialized marketing or just branch marketing?

4. What school’s GBM are you going for?

Hello Nairalanders,

I am self-sponsored and the source of my funds is salaries and allowances from my employer. I plan to apply in about two months when my accumulated salaries and allowances would be adding up to 10m. I plan to use my salary account with a 6-month history showing how the money was accumulated. I will submit my application the next day after the last salary that makes the funds up to 10m comes in. Is there a problem with this? Do I need to wait for the 10m to sit in my account for some additional months before applying?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your kind response.
I work in the services aspect; Customer service, Financial unit(Cash, Funds transfer etc) and i presently head a branch. I have little or no experience in marketing.
If I were in your shoes, I will hinge my study purpose on the fact that diversifying the economy through agriculture is a top priority for Nigeria right now. I will go on to state that agricultural lending by commercial banks has remained really low (state the statistics, I think it is about 2%). The reason is largely due to the lack of understanding of agricultural risk by Nigerian bankers. I will then go on to show how increased lending will boost agriculture which will in turn increase the sector’s contribution to GDP, reduce unemployment and ultimately move Nigeria from a monolithic economy to a diversified economy.

Now, the question will be what your personal persuasion is. If you were working in marketing or in the agriculture desk in your bank, it would be easier to establish this. You would probably state that you have worked on some loan requests from some agribusiness customers and you gained so much satisfaction from serving this particular set of customers compared to customers from other sectors. You could also add that that there are certain agribusiness customers you have lost because you were unable to meet their loan requests due to your limited understanding of their business. To wrap it up, you could state that you are interested in pursuing a Masters in Agriculture because your background is agriculture, you work on agriculture-related transactions as a commercial banker and you are therefore interested in further building your competence in this area as it has huge potential in your country.

My two cents.

Hello Everyone.
Good morning.
Just a quick one. I have a degree in Agriculture and a MBA. But i have worked in a bank for almost 15 years. I already applied to schools for a Masters in Agriculture but i feel like i am making a mistake. Do i also apply for courses based on my work experience? Which would increase by chances of having a positive visa outcome?

Thank you.
Hello Pushy8,

While a banking/finance-related program would make your visa application stronger, you could also make a case for a Masters in Agriculture. Please let me know what specific banking experience you have, i.e marketing, funds transfer, etc. This will help shape my advice to you.

It is not necessarily a requirement to provide prove of funding for second year. However, VO tend to have concerns for self sponsored applicant. You should make reference to your salary entitlement in your SOP and attach the letter from your organisation in your prove of funds. Don't make it seem as if the salary will be the sole source of your fund for the second year. Just make a reference to it without mentioning second year.
Thanks for your response.
