I don't expect much from the CAF reps in this World Cup despite the 10 slots. Based on their groups quality and personal acumen, i only see 2 going to the KO stages

CIV and maybe Algeria

The group Senegal and Morocco are in will be dicey.
Morocco will chop Scotland and Haiti like fufu….Senegal group is tough sha(France and Norway)

8 out 10 odds that Portugal will beat us, but unlike the embarrassing eyesore Peseiro served us last time we met Portugal. I expect us to be more competitive this time and give them a good game, it definitely won't be the 4-0 type of drubbing we got the last time...I can see maybe a 3-2 type of result for Portugal cause we will surely score goals with Chelle football.
Yea 3-2 is a decent one for us, but i see us shocking Portugal….i see Portugal chasing that game to equalize us

Interestingly, we’ve never managed to beat Portugal in all our encounters so far.

I’m hoping the Super Eagles emerge from this game unscathed and, most importantly, that Chelle’s unbeaten record stays intact. Fingers crossed!
I think weve met Portugal only once(i may be wrong about this) and that was the disgraceful showing from Jpes and his boys in 2022.
Period when Jpes was starting his job as super eagles coach trying to adopt a play pattern for super eagles which he latter settled for the conservative style he used at the afcon 2023.
Emmanuel Dennis lost a penalty in that match when the score was 2-0…that penalty would have changed the psychology of that game…cos before the penalty chukwu eze was already becoming a terror to the portuguese defense

Portugal is one of the favorites to win the world cup but Netherlands isn't, I'm not opposed to a win or a draw but I'm not giving myself reasons to be mad at the end of the match
with this our form we suppose drag with portugal…this super eagles currently deserves a world cup spot
Nigeria 1-1 Brazil(first team played)
Nigeria 4-2 Argentina (first team played except Messi)
A serious and well coached super eagles outfit should be winning or drawing portugal in a friendly

Algéria just beat Netherlands, I would not be okay with a loss
A draw would be decent
They should win before going on holiday since we aren’t at the World Cup
I didn’t watch this game, i decided to watch the highlights, and im asking how did Algeria manage to come out with a win here….from beginning to the end of the highlight i can just count like 5times algeria attacked compared to almost 20+ back to back attacks from the Dutch and Dominating the game as it should…Algeria really win this game as a Ghost

I had watched that clips twice today again, I tell you not even nuer or cortoise can keep out that shot, for a minute I thought the ball was going in a straight line, ahbi na breeze blow am go another direction??,

By then Okoye was already in motion, if it had gone as projected it's an easy catch or a tipping over, buh that swerving ehn hmmm
I calm down to watch that shot also…despite the breeze curly effect of the ball, it was bound for the left side of the net, meaning if Okoye had positioned to a close proximity between himself and the space in between that left side of the net where the ball entered he would have had a brilliant punch…
In 2002 When Paul scholes got his pass from a midfielder he tilted towards the left to pick a spot where he would release a bullet, Enyeama also tilted to closed the space between himself and the left side of the net…thats why he was able to punch that ball from scholes
Okoye was far from that left corner space, he would have adjusted a bit to close the wide gap between himself and the left space of the net when he saw that polish player was tilting towards left to pick a shot spot

There is also another sensational wizard in the waiting “Zadok Yohanna”(Bauchi State)

Let's be fair to the members of this thread. I do not agree that absolving Maduka of blame for that goal is hypocritical. I've been one of his staunchest critic but reality is that that goal will beat any keeper any day. If Uzoho had let in that goal, I think the sentiment of this thread will remain the same as is currently being expressed towards Okoye.

And in relation to Nwabali - he was criticized, not for his goalkeeping but for his unnecessary antics.
but hope you know both die hard fans of Okoye and fair viewers of super eagles will pick Okoye over Uzoho anyday anytime….

Here we blame Okoye for the goal and not asking him to be sent away instead we wish he learn further on how to save such goals, but on Uzoho 🤣🤣everyone will immediately be calling for the coach to send him away from the team

Defenders bear secondary blame because they ought to holla on the other players to shield that defender. Mind you it was a polish defender who scored that goal.
Then everyone is to be blamed then
1. “Okoye, he could have saved it, but not saving it is not his fault”(meaning there is something he could have done to save it)
2. “Defenders bear secondary blame because they ought to holla on the other players to shield that defender” (Meaning they ought to have spoken to alert players in front)

baba this was not a corner kick oo where players are close to themselves to hear each other….check where Bassey,Ajayi and Sanusi were all standing, how dey wan take holla at Onuachu with that distance from him…
Bassey(🗣): Onuachu mark him out mark him out!…baba them far from each other abeg…i can’t blame defenders here by this analysis

3. “Online reviews of Okoye's performance has largely been positive”.
be like youve not seen comment section of different facebook bloggers and X.
Its been some bloggers that are even coming to defend Okoye

Whether Okoye oo, Nwabali oo, Uzoho, there's no goalkeeper that will concede that goal that I'd blame. I put the blame squarely on the midfielders and the defenders for letting that guy have so much space to shoot. If you watch the guy's movement you'd see the exact moment he made up his mind to shoot because no one closed him down.
Maybe you sha, and thats fair enough from you…but 9ja general fans will blame any goalkeeper in the post beaten by long range shot…

“See keeper oooooooo🙆🏼🙆🏼🤦🏽‍♀️, this one na otu ooo, them wan use shot blind werey eyes”

Leave our defenders out of this oo🤣🤣 that shot was coming from the other side of heaven….it has not even reach the territory of our defenders…the goal scorer just moved away from the centre line oo…so its either Midfielders/wingers/strikers that would have wrestle him…

Maduka Okoye tried yesterday sha. The criticisms are not unwarranted but in some ways they're becoming excessive. Let's not use because of that last shot to wipe out all the goodwill he amassed right before the last couple of seconds.

He just needs to work on his positioning and occasional nervous energy and he's golden.

Daz all.
I wish it was 2-0 before the dye mins shot came..:we wouldn’t even be talking about Okoye…that we beat poland 2-1 would have been the talk of town..
or if that shot was their 1-1 equalizer followed by all his brilliant 1v1 saves made and we later won 2-1….nobody will even remember the shot😅😀….Okoye’s head in super eagles always have him end matches🤣🤣leaving him vulnerable to be torn apart by fans

Una think it's easy? The guy has proved himself time without number! If not because of Moses Simon silly penalty miss..

until Okoye give people reason to heal…people will still be suffering from his Tunisia afcon exit outside shot PTSD🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was literally counting down to final whistle while watching that game yesterday 🤣..4mins:49seconds(11seconds) left to play.

Voooooooooooooooooooom🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 net don tear…angry enough the shot came from Oshodi and landed in Lekki🤣🤣🤣 omo its very very annoying…the only person to be picked up for bashing and blame in that moment will be the goalkeeper 🤣🤣

Let's cut Okoye some slack the ball was well struck plus he probably saw it late hence his initial poor positioning.
Yess boss i believe he is learning…and i will really want him to challenge Nwabali…He is young, He is handsome(super eagles poster pride 😀), he plays for a top european team….so i wont totally trash him….Him saving that long range screamer and we eventually winning Poland will just move him higher than Nwabali in the pecking order
