This game is looking like the 2010 World cup final…Tap Tap Tap Tap till 110th or 119th minutes when you are tired and they boom 1-0….120mins ref blow final whistle😅😅
The Spanish team dont look like they are getting tired any time soon and this is one advantage of Tiki Taka, it makes you conserve energy and not just run run run run doing box to box goal-goal over 6.5

Remember Netherland also had a red card in that 2010 final 😅😅
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by minfelix(m): 9:53pm On Jul 19
Spain no need to come dey score 100goals oo…just one small loose space them go use tiki taka open your nyash and score the goal….that was how they won 2010 worldcup…just use tapping open your opponent nyash, kpom! 1-0, then remaining time use tapping tire your life out🤣🤣

Boring final. Not like Qatar WC. That one was end to end
What we saw in England vs France was a replica of 2022 final…but you see team like Spain, they are not ready to come and be playing those basketball type of football….They are very calculative and penetrate technically…not just run run run into box 18 exposing their defense…
Argentina would have easily won this world cup against France and England, cos thats the kinda loosely knitted defensive games they love to play and shine in…That was mistake Egypt made, after leading Argentina, you dont need to defend deeply or attack fully, Just simply switch to ball possession, 1/2taps and corner side time wasting…instead of that bursting up runs football against Argentina

Morocco got to the SF in my books considering it is an expanded world cup and they met the strongest title contender. So no dey appease urself.Morrocco is MILES ahead of Naija. You can settle for AFCON owambe as usual
So in your book when person reach Semifinal and lost na to enter flight dey go back home? no b to wait for Third place match?🤣🤣
If na so your book be, it means Nigeria also played Semifinal in 94 and 98, cos word cup use to have 13teams before they expanded in mid/late 90’s

Nigeria just has to be at this world cup meehnn, all hands must be on deck.
This would be a huge celebratory worldcup, bigger and would be better than this Donald trump’s politically sentimental world cup.

A world cup where all Africans will calm down to watch, not all those 3am and 4am stress.

Abeg “World cup” i cant wait for you to be back on the European soil again where quality football resides and fans are crazy

Not a big fan of his, but he is a great player. Watching him cry really touched me.

Big ups Ronnie. It is just unfortunate you came during Messi's era but you did your best.

Its not even about the Messi’s Era….That Portuguese team is just Ronaldo and vibes…They are still suppose to hold their own against Spain even if Ronaldo is not turning up…The Portuguese team is not good jare, Portugal really F up in 2006…That would have been the year to lift the world cup…Roughing it to that final and Meeting Italy would have seen them win that world cup.
After 2006,Portuguese team has been washed up…The have been playing second fiddle to any team they meet at any competition….When Messi leaves Argentina self go begin suffer like Brazil

🌍 Only TWO continents have ever lifted the FIFA World Cup... Will 2026 finally make history, or will Europe & South America continue their dominance? 🏆🔥👇
💬 Which continent do you think will win the next World Cup?

This Loss is on Roberto Martinez I’m afraid. Set up his team too rigidly … should have brought on Conceição & Leao earlier to provide impetus outwide & upfront.
Why did Ronaldo play all 90 minutes
I really don’t know why the man dey force Ronaldo to play 90mins, dulling that attack

Brazil is so ordinary now that just any team can defeat them in a competitive match.
The same with Nigeria if not for the coming of Chelle, ours is better because is not for lack of talent but administrative and managerial problems.

For now,no minor can mess up with us without getting hammered, the likes of DR Congo and Cape Verde cannot be considered to be minors anymore
Yeaa true

Senegal and Morocco are the Batman and Superman of CAF now. The Big 2. No other African country commands more respect than them presently.

Then you can say that Egypt, Nigeria and Algeria would round up the Big 5.

The fact that Egypt - and especially Nigeria with all of our disorganization and unseriousness - haven't totally vanished into obscurity is a testament to the insane pool of talent they both have.

Cameroon and Ghana are in the doldrums now. Ivory Coast, DRC and SA have caught up with, and possibly overtaken them.

It should actually be pretty easy for us to reclaim our top spot if our government finally wakes up and takes us seriously. But my fear is that they won't. The problem of Nigerian sports is so deep and intricate and woven into the very fibre of our culture as a country.
Bro you see this point, trust me its we Nigerians still seeing that point to take solace in,You see those nations outside Africa amd maybe also those in Africa they are now seeing Nigeria the way i analyzed Germany,Brazil,Italy in my previous post…Missing back to back world cup will make them see us that way too…But i will agree with you still on the emboldened why becos since our back to back world cup miss, we are still competing heavily at Afcon showing that we are NOT gradually going oblivious…we are still in the mix.
back to back afcon losing to the host at final stages of the competition shows we are still a force to reckon with

It's not about tactics. It's not about being broken by Germany in 2014. Brazil simply does not have enough talented players like they did in the past.

Their players are mediocre.

Modern football has finished Brazil pata pata. I've never supported Brazil (even though I loved Brazilian players) but to see one of the great footballing nation fall so drastically like this makes me sad.

Even Brazil has no proper 10. I hate this modern football that nullified the 10.
We have to wake up, football is experiencing a paradigm shift, worldcup powerhouses are now relinquishing their positions gradually….Brazil, Germany,Netherland,Italy(Now almost going into mediocrity extinction) and etc’s do not possess those quality players again…
From all the “Inhos” ronaldo,Dunga,Cafu, rivaldo of the mercurial Brazil to the Lahm,Klose,Kroos,Metersacker of Germany to all the “Van”, Kluivert,Davies,Robben of Netherland, to the Baggios,Romarios,Buffon,Del Piero of Italy ….This generation of Germany,Brazil,Italy,Netherland no longer strike fear again….If Messi retires Argentina will join that league(imagine a 39yrs old man leading the race of highest goals scorer, what happen to the other young Argentine players, it tells you that after Messi, you will see teams like Capeverde eliminating Argentina)
That goes to Nigeria, we have really lost our fear factor on the African soil, Morocco is taking up that mantle if we totally snooze, and so many other African nations will have the boost to wanna fight to the top

Hope CAF and Moroccan FA can see how free, smooth and fair a match against a host can go…instead of stupidly appointing a ref to come and officiate a crucial match where one team is his countries arch-rival in soccer…why FIFA no hire a senegalese ref or Algerian to come and officiate

What's your take?

Would Cameron have performed better than its replacement, Cape Verde?

Would Nigeria have performed better than South Africa and Congo DR?

It's hard to tell, probably Cameron would have beaten Saudi Arabia but loose to Argentina, and Uruguay; Nigeria would have performed better than South Africa but not Congo DR. Just my thoughts.
My opinion, we would have performed better…
Though we wobbled from the start of the qualifiers, however The momentum we gain from the start of Eric chelle would made a huge statement at the world cup if we had qualified.
It would have been a case of bad qualifiers but excellent world cup campaign. we not qualifying doesn’t mean we are a bad team, it simply a testament of our unpreparedness and how we take open matches for granted.. We couldn’t beat Lesotho first game and could beat Zim home and away, but got to d Afcon and started dispatching teams of same grade(Mozambique,Uganda,Tanzania) even also beating hands down those once that qualified(Algeria and Tunisia)
Tunisians are good in qualifiers but a terrible tournaments team..same with SA…
Its so sad we started poorly…
Same chopping and changing of Coaches during the 2022 qualifiers(Rohr qualified the team to play off against Ghana, but Eguavoen executed the both games…You see as bad as Rohr was he would have qualified us for that edition with his haram football.

In conclusion, super eagles of Afcon 2025 would have made a statement in USCANMEX 2026

So far in this world cup Cape verde is the most solid African side…They were so unlucky to be in a very tight group and their path to the final is so crunchy.
Imagine drawing 3world champions in 90mins
1934 world cup winners Uruguay 2-2 (90mins)
2010 world cup champions 0-0 Spain (90mins)
2022 world cup winners 1-1 Argentina (90mins)

No African team faced such test

-Morocco have only faced one world cup champions Brazil 1-1 in 90mins, if they win Canada they will most likely face France in Qarter final…make we dey see

-Senegal played only one former world champions and lost 3-1 to them in 90mins (France)

-CIV played only one former world champions and lost 2-1 to them in 90mins (Germany)

-DRC played only one former world champions and lost 2-1 to them in 90mins (England)

-Algeria played only one former world champions and lost 3-1 to them in 90mins (Argentina)

-Ghana played only one former world champions and drew 0-0 with Zero shot on target building tower of babel at the back in 90 mins🤣🤣🤣(England)

Tunisia did not play any former world champions, swallowed 12goals in 3matches

Egypt did/have not faced any world champions, we will see them in few days against Argentina in round 16🤣🤣…na those kind North America Argentina dey use catch cruise.

SA did not play any former world champions

In summary, my verdict is that Capeverde would have advanced if they had met Norway,Belgium,Australia in r32
