it was not Elijah that quotes that but John. He was telling the pharesse the prophesy that was prophesied abt Him...just to let them know that his coming to prepare d way has been forseen and told by a prophet long before him. What Isaiah said was fulfilled in the life of John.

His place of birth was prophesyd,His virgin Birth,His kind of birth,His kind of death,even His betrayal was well prophesyd...i cn go on with examples,even His name was seen in the OT,that is a prophesy,very clear and straightforward,not the kind which you guys are trying to do with the Bible...i don't knw why it is dificult for u guys to accept that ur prophet is not in the Bible.
