Jamji: I want to create a membership site. Each member would have an invitation link that i can track. When one joins the site under a member link, there will be hidden content that will show once the person makes payment to unlock it. The payment in 2 will go to the member link and another member in rotation.t

Apple has lost the rights to the trademark "iPhone" in Brazil to a local manufacturer which makes an Android phone called the iPhone NEO. Yesterday the Brazilian Trademark and Patents Office rejected Apple's claims to the trademark "iPhone" in the category of telecoms and the category of electronic devices.

"Registration rejected due to legal conventions" reads the notice on Apple's trademark application number 829213910, which requests use of "iPhone" in class 38 for Telecommunications and was filed in November 2007.

Brazilian electronics maker Gradiente applied for the trademark "iPhone" in 2000, reports the Wall Street Journal, and was granted the rights to the trademark in 2008. However to claim the mark the company must make commercial use of it within a five year window. It took Gradiente till December 2012 to release the IPHONE Neo One, an Android handset, confirming their claim and triggering the rejection of Apple's application.

Apple is contesting the decision on the basis that Gradiente failed to make use of its trademark within the five year window, states the Journal.

Apple was granted the Brazilian trademark application for "iPhone" in four other categories including: Class 39, computer services; Class 41, the provision of entertainment services; Class 35 retail stores and in Class 42, computers.

Apple was refused the rights to "iPhone" in Class 38 telecoms (application number 829213910) and in Class 9 for electronic and scientific devices (application number 829272747).

Apple is in a similar tussle in Mexico where it recently lost a trademark infringement lawsuit to a Telco with a trademark on iFone. ®

Amazon edged out Apple to become the most reputable company in the U.S., a new study suggests.

Harris Interactive interviewed over 14,000 members of the general public for its 2013 Reputation Quotient, which measures corporate reputation among the "most visible" companies in the U.S. The market-research firm assessed businesses based on six criteria: social responsibility, emotional appeal, products and services, workplace environment, financial performance, and vision and leadership.

Amazon ranked in the top five in five of the six criteria, leading in emotional appeal, as well as products and services. The ecommerce retailer beat its competitors with an "RQ score" of 82.62. (Any score above 80 is considered "excellent." Apple — last year's leader — followed close behind with 82.54, while the Walt Disney Company came in third with 82.12. Google and Johnson & Johnson round out the top five with scores of 81.32 and 80.95, respectively.

Amazon, which jumped from fourth place last year, has maintained a golden reputation for five consecutive years, with RQ scores of over 80, Harris Interactive said.

The firm added that technology companies enjoy the best reputations, with a 79% positive rating — up from 76% in 2012 and 75% in 2011. On the other end of the spectrum, tobacco companies have the worst rep with a 73% negative rating.

Overall, the general public still has "strong negative perceptions" of Corporate America, according to the study. A considerable 44% see it has poor or terrible, while only 28% view it as excellent or good.

1) the backgroung is dark. IMHO, dark backgrounds are fit for celebrity sites,
apparel sales sites and a few other things but not a social network.
It will look like the old myspace we normally have

2) Logo is a no no (am not good in designing but i know a cool logo when i see one)

3) The right sidebar follow links should be totally removed. even the left one, this is not a blog. Infact, what do you need a social network profile for a social network. You're a facebook competitor man

Dual Core: Doesn't look any better in my opinion.

The "call us now" is shouty
The logo is not smart
The green text under the logo is edgy
The scrolling images, the transition is too fast and sharp and I dont see the use of all that green text on them.
That other thing scrolling at the bottom with languages, its just so fast and looks dangerous like a fan blade about to chop off your head. I don't see the effectiveness of that thing.

From my user experience the only sane part of your site is the page contents (all the pages, except the portfolio page).
