I received PM's that i haven't had the chance to reply to individually so i'm going to post it here for all .The CV format we used is attached here so you can complete it with your details. When stating your roles , make sure you include achievements and not just job functions. Then most of all , please pick up tips/advice that have already been stated here from our "seniors" that have landed ,I cannot emphasize enough how much that has helped me.That's the only reason i decided not to remain a silent reader but also contributor on nairaland . And please, don't forget or be too busy to share your experiences when the time comes(that includes setbacks and successes) ,so that others can learn from you too. There are two types of people in the world ,the hearers and the listeners ...Go figure! 25 Likes 16 Shares |
Science/Technology / Re: Repair Of Rechargeable Fan And Make It Last 15hours by Mire222: 4:33pm On Feb 19, 2018 |
I bought their product and i am very disappointed. The worst is that when i complained ,this person that claims to be a human being told me "he did not send me to buy cheap rechargeable fans". I am writing this review to protect any other person that wants to make a purchase from him .I was looking for solid rechargeable fan batteries and i stumbled on this nairaland page . I decided to give it a trial after much discouragement from people around me . Mind you, i don't live ín lagos . He sent me a picture of a UPS (didn't add the picture of a battery)of which he later sent both and i thought it looked tacky.Anyway ,i used the fan for one night ,it worked well but only for 8 hours(remember they promise 15 hours) after which i started noticing that the usage time kept dropping to even 4 hours .This is within a period of one week. I called him and that was when he decided to tell me that his battery only works for 12 volt fans !!!!I asked him that and you're just telling me now!I have a Qlink ,Binatone and lantor fans which i have acquired over the years that have weak batteries and are all 6 Volts. And he suddenly became wiser after collecting my hard earned 18k that i should have quietly used to to buy new rechargeable fan. I tried to be civil all the while expecting that this would be resolved amicably ,worst case scenario ,he would ask me to return his product in good shape and get my money back but no ,instead i received insults and was told to go and find an electrician to fix my fans. I was very upset but God has blessed me beyond 18k so i will only say that anybody that steals my hard earned money or any other man's hard earned money can never leave a peaceful or progressive life. You will always pay back that money in 100 folds .God is not mocked. 12 Likes 1 Share |

[quote author=laborel post=65127426]Please I need you to put me through how you achieved this because iv tried severally but won't work. I used my Nigeria naira card specifically GTBank naira maatercard but didn't work. I with appreciate if you can help me out on Kindly explain step by step what you did and maybe we can take it up from there. I think someone has severally mentioned here that you should check with your bank about the card payment issue, if that's where your challenge is. |

laborel: Sorry for late response. I didn't buy the credit pack. Went to the option of getting a Canadian number and they requested payment. Used my Nigerian card to pay about 7 dollars and that was it. I think the credit pack is only useful if you want to be calling another country other than US/Canada . 4 Likes 2 Shares |

"Kindly pm me and I will share what has worked for us." Let me rephrase that statement for the sake of others. We didn't do anything extra as per job search. Basically ,we did what @fusion23 recommended. I think what made the most difference was matching keys words relevant with his job role. And he did that after we went through seminars on access employment website, the whole Job Scan system thing and applying to every job in his field available to mankind. Lol. We also downloaded the freetone app which has been very useful. Another point I would like to add is that if you earn big in Nigeria, please don't set your expectations too high. it's okay to give yourself a standard or target but also be realistic and give room for growth. Of course there are people who get great jobs immediately and we'll all get there maybe not just the same time. Just keep aiming and never give up. 11 Likes 4 Shares |

[quote author=Fusion23 post=65038044] And another billion from me for @vcole. Always writing intelligently and objectively. thanks for your insight because I've been trying to figure out how to handle this career situation. I've said it many times and I will say it again. Contributions made on Nairaland has made a huge impact in my life. Knowledge is indeed power. Just another word of encouragement, @Fusion recommendations are on point. I gave my husband some tips I read from people here, we haven't even landed and he's getting calls for jobs from Canada . For me ,I haven't decided yet because I would like to improve myself and switch careers so I'm considering taking on a "survival job" while at it. There was someone who posted an "SOS" awhile back about having challenges with securing supply chain jobs. Kindly pm me and I will share what has worked for us. Sorry I didn't respond then because we had not started receiving feedback as per job search . May the lines fall for us all in pleasant places. 23 Likes 3 Shares |

[quote author=laborel post=64612082]@wura27, Please share with me how to use freetone to receive calls in Nigeria. I tried to do it but couldn't pay using Nigeria cards. Please show me. Thank you. My Nigerian card worked. Recently activated mine . Like Wura said, check with your bank if it doesn't work. 1 Like |

[quote author=9jaAlien post=64599340]Thank you for the insights, we learn everyday in this our canny hustle. However, I think I prefer the covert racism to the overt one.... As much as i was trying to be positive about this issue, I think you've raised valid points. The Overt and presence of children ...These, I never ever want to experience and for that reason, I think I'm sticking to the big cities for now. Lets hope for the best experiences. 1 Like |

salford1: I had to add to this post just to encourage someone out there. The statement above is very very valid. Racism was One of my many reasons when I was "anti-relocation " and a staunch Nigerian Patriot until I saw the "light".lol. don't mind all those people arguing against relocating, they will come to their own by themselves. I know cos I was worse. About the racism thing Salford is very correct because I don't think anything can be worse than the woes and insults that I have experienced from educated people in my so called country just because I married from a different tribe. And it feels worse than racism because for goodness sakes, you wonder that is it not just language, wetin!!!! Imagine people telling you to your face that you steal their men and for others ,their problem is that you have a job in their state when there are many jobless.... I mean these are just a few examples. So, if a white person were even racist towards me, I would probably sympathize with him. Lol. It's people with low self esteem that are racist/tribalistic so I wouldn't worry about that. I've learned that it's not about me. Emotional Intelligence... About the child care subsidy, I know a friend who relocated last year, that got daycare totally free for her child. She lives in Toronto. 20 Likes 1 Share |

donrabii: I was having the same challenge (see in my posts) until I decided to look at airbnb .didn't look there previously because my better half is adamant that we get our place before we land for convinience sake. Guess what, lots of beautiful options to choose from , it's furnished too and for a fair price . With what I have seen so far, Im confident there will be lots of wonderful places to choose from to rent . I guess the real estate websites are not just enough. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Ayoboy1: Check rentfaster.ca and sushihomes. The rentfast and other few websites, you can uncheck the box for basements. My challenge is that when you do that, the listings become even shorter. Yet when I look at places like Calgary, I see soooo many nice places .But I'm pnp so I don't have an option of another province 7 Likes 5 Shares |

Hello, Please I need to know from those that have settled especially in Ontario( I'm looking at Mississauga ),honestly the options advertised for rent online seem very limited to me. Not much to choose from on a budget of 1500 for two bedrooms. My questions are 1) is it possible that there are many more homes available for rent but they don't just have online presence?Maybe we would see nicer places/neighbourhoods/townhouses when we land . 2) Is 1500 too little for a decent apartment in a good neighbourhood in Mississauga? 3) would we use a real estate agent and are they paid agency fees 4) how much were you requested to pay in advance. First and last month? 6 months? Bank checks? Please note that we are trying to avoid homes where we would share eg basements and apartments that have thin floors except if were on ground floor. We have very energetic kids and we wouldn't want to be a nuisance as per noise. Thank you 8 Likes |

MrsBee: Just like mrsBee, I too owe so much from the giving birth in d US thread and this express entry thread. My ppr mail landed this morning from London VO. Got a notification in my Cic account .it was a four page document not like the ppr examples that are usually given here and the last page still requested for height and eye color (don't worry, I'm very sure this is not "pre pre PPR-ADR".lol. me sef tire for London. I over celebrated and called town crier when I got that pre PPR-ADR thinking it was PPR so I was very careful this time...this was the beginning part "YOUR IMMIGRANT VISA(S) APPEAR(S) READY TO BE ISSUED, IF THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGE IN YOUR FAMILY CONFIGURATION. IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY CHANGES, PLEASE CONTACT OUR OFFICE BEFORE PROCEEDING. PASSPORT(S) You are asked to submit your passport(s) and documentation BY COURIER within 15 days. We recommend DHL courier, using a pre-paid return envelope...." Once again Mega thanks to everyone who has contributed here. And for those beginning, all I can say is read, read, read the thread. Nairaland is a goldmine. 45 Likes |

[quote author=Ehrnie post=62435345] Thanks very much. It's really confusing. I've gotten ADR before and it didn't look nothing like this. And I had to reply that within 7 days too not 30 days. That's why I thought it was ppr. And then I remembered someone posted some of this format ( as per height, etc) and people responded that it was ppr. I'm happy I asked. Thanks for the insight. |
