Climate change is real folks, plan properly before planting especially if you ain't irrigating, a neighbour will have to replant his seeds for the second time.. may like August seems to now have a break... God help us All |

Cassava farming is the hot cake right now. a basin is currently 15k in my location ( Benin ), I did like 4 acres this year before leaving for Lagos. lol. by next year I plan on doing 8 to 10 acres. to my experience, the best time to plant cassava is after August break, you won't clear much And cassava is much resistant to drought. if you like big tubers, give enough space in your farm, if you like tiny tiny tubers, plant closely. the stress in cassava is the processing lol. that shit should be done by prisoners but hey, I'm a prisoner of money so I'll do it. lol. nice harvest man, on paper it's easy, na who don go know wetn he see. 8 Likes |

HornyTave:Lol at "should be done by prisoners". When you're used to it, it won't be so difficult anymore. Also, try mechanization. It safes a lot of time and stress. |

Well-done bro....work on the variety and your management practises ..These tubers are too tiny. You getting a Keke load from 400 heaps is not okay. Here farmers do get a full pick up(locally called ponpon) from 600 -700 heaps.I am a cassava farmer 1 Like |

MDDarah84:your quite right, if you followed d thread from the beginning you'd see I mentioned it that a mistake was made in farm15 spacing between the heaps wasn't adequate, d labourers took advantage because I wasn't available farm25 was amazing, I'd be posting pictures of what we harvested from there soon |

Re: My Cassava Farming Dairy As A Total Beginner by willybaby(m): 5:53pm On Jul 09, 2021 |
josh6633:if d Cassava plant has above a stem no much damage in cutting one off since you will be harvesting soon, based on low yield but cutting off all the stems ain't advisable |
Re: My Cassava Farming Dairy As A Total Beginner by josh6633: 10:07pm On Jul 09, 2021 |
willybaby: Above the stem how? I don't really understand your explanation. Pls can u rephrase your write-up thanks |
Above the stem how? I don't really understand your explanation. Pls can u rephrase your write-up thanks[/quote he meant that, if u have a cassava with more than one stem on a heap(say 3), you can cut two of it and leave 1 to continue germinating. but will be ditrastrous if u cut all the 3stem. |
Re: My Cassava Farming Dairy As A Total Beginner by josh6633: 10:20pm On Jul 09, 2021 |

Ok. Understood |
Re: My Cassava Farming Dairy As A Total Beginner by willybaby(m): 10:34pm On Jul 09, 2021 |
josh6633:has above a stem that is more than one stem you can cut the extra and plant, I don't advise cutting off the whole stem I feel this will overly stress the plant, and may cause shrinkage of tuber or even rot |
