Siena and other Pros in the house - My VW Engine's doing some queer stuff lately.

Normally its RPM is between 800-1000 when i turn on the ignition. 2 weeks ago, i had to refill the AC gas and i made sure it was re-filled in my presence (so no one will touch any unnecessary thing). I then discovered shortly afterward that with the AC on, the engine will just die in the middle of the road. Turning on the ignition, it'll respond and move normally ONLY for the engine to die after some minutes again.It was a Saturday and it happened twice that day.

On my way to work on Monday, I had the AC ON, suddenly the RPM rose to 4000 and even after i shifted the gear to neutral and of course removed my leg from the accelerator it stayed put at 4000. It was making noise as if i was revving it continuously. I managed it to work but turned off the AC. I then noticed that it became normal along the way - back to 800-1000.

I then decided not to put on the AC again until i unravel what was happening. Throughout last week and this week, once in a while the RPM will increase to 2500 or 3000 on it own and i discovered that Revving the car actually normalizes it i.e returning it back to 800-1000 RPM.

Please what can i do to stop the anomaly??

The Cruise control is also not working, Cruise control indicator light does not show on the dashboard when switched on; though the side switch green indicator light (near the steering) comes on when switched on. My mechanic is not too familiar with electronic cars and would not mind someone referring any professional mechanic around Lagos. Thanks.

forget your diss of Startimes, for one thing, that coy has been in existence since 1988 and are in many countries as we speak, so they are not your everyday naija Tv coy that will last 2 yrs only, they can't have lasted that long if they did'nt know wassup!!!. they are not the bomb like that but, bad as e bad if i go to ilorin and can watch startimes instead of KWtv, i go happy jare!!!!

Am sure my old folks in Ilorin would sure prefer StarTV with their STV,Channels,DBN and 4 News channels to their DSTV that they have to use a chunk of their allowee to service !!
StarTV would make more money in the hinterlands.

Can you recommend Oils with Castrol 5W-30 ? and about the visc testing, i grew to understand that the viscosity can be felt by touching. when i said it was low in Viscosity, it was almost like rubbing water in between your first and index fingers.

From Mobil Station and i think they shouldn't sell fake of their own product now!
I buy the #2,600.00 and NOT the #7,500 type(Mobil 1), sorry i didn't read the label on the can.

talking about the oil choice, I was using visco 2000 in my camry @ every 80-90days oil/filter change,  but I noticed it would be more economical if I use Mobil-1 for 6months or more with one filter,

believe you me, my first Mobil-1 experience was smthn else,  I mean It was Waow!!,  the engine sound and performance was damn outstanding,  now that the ride is used by madam,  servicing is due in November,  and the more you use it, the longer the service periods which eventually lands @ 365days,  per gallon of oil and filter,  = N7500 + N1000 (briscoe filter) + N500(Mechanic) = N9000 for 1yr, 

as against,  5 x N2200(visco 2000) + 5x N1000 + 5X N500 = N18,500.

Nice work you guys are doing here. The forum is really enlightening. I appreciate the prices' ideas of some engine parts and services as well.

@Sienna and others, i presently use Mobil Oil for my 2000 VW Beetle but i discover it doesnt last more than 2/3 months before the engine oil becomes black and the viscosity becomes very low. Would you advise i change to Super Visco Static (as an old driver in my office told me it would be more suited for my old engine) ??
