Just wait until June and see what will happen regarding the restriction. I'm also in the same position. By June the 180 days would have elapsed and we will know if the temporary ban will be reviewed. If not, you can defer the admission.
Iseghohi:
Good morning everyone.
I need urgent attention on this matter: I was recently offered a master's admission in the US, along with a teaching assistantship, tuition fee waiver, and scholarship. However, the SEVIS and immigration adviser stated that due to visa restrictions on Nigeria, the I-20 form can't be issued to me and recommended that I contact my department for further suggestions. I'm unsure how to approach this and the likelihood of receiving a positive response from my department. I don't want to lose this offer.

You people should learn to date within your faith and stop looking for outsiders to marry and then convert them. You have no business dating a non- catholic.

Of course I have brushed it off since. I wrote the post because of what the Nollywood actress is currently going through. Fans are just bashing her based on what the American lady said about her.
Rexymania:
Omo, all this are normal na...it happens amongst siblings sef, so just brush it off. Thank God you're on your own now
Family › Living With Someone ( Houseguest Point Of View) by missidy(op):
Nollywood actress Ekene Uwenma is currently trending because a friend who accommodated her in America is spilling some negative gist about her.
I am not interested in whatever they say they gossiped about (them say, them say) because I wasn't there so I don't know what happened. I want to talk about what people go through when they have accommodation problems and they need to live with someone for sometime. I have been there so I understand perfectly. I will site three examples;

1. During our first year in the university, one of our housemates got pregnant. It was a Catholic school and it was against their rules. She had to leave the school hostel and move in with her cousin. When we went to visit her the first time, she was so happy to see us. She ate the food we brought for her so hurriedly as if she has been hungry for days. Then the real story. You needed to see the way her cousin was talking to her and ordering her around. It was so obvious she was being maltreated but she refused to open up to us. We felt so sorry for her and gave her some money then decided to be bringing food for her often. The girl really saw shege. It was after delivering the baby, she was able to come back to live with us in the hostel. Her joy returned and she became happy again.

2. I had to live with my cousin for some months when we were house hunting and I was unemployed then. I cooked and cleaned willingly. My mum was also sending money every month for me to give her for food. First it started with side insults over my not having a job, I would just smile and let it go. Or is it when she insulted me because I washed fish and removed the eyes. I don't eat fish eyes so I usually remove it, that day she called me foolish. I reported her to my mum and I also told her my mind. She then apologized saying " sorry o, but if you want to stay in my house then you must do things my way." Then it was her friends that come to visit, nobody needed to tell me she has bad mouthed me to them. Imagine her friend visiting and telling me "hey you, I want to sit down there, shift". Or is it the funny look they will give me when they come over, you would already know she has finished you to them. How many times did I hear her on the phone discussing me with one of her toasters, the guy practically knew everything about me without ever meeting me in person.
When I left her house, I had no choice but to delete her number. We can only see each other during family events and we exchange pleasantries.

3. During NYSC, my roommates friend will come to the room and gossip about her own roommate. She wasn't my friend so I would just be on my laptop and be minding my business. She will gist her friend how her roommate is broke and her family is poor. How she can't afford God is Good or another good bus to travel home and has to use "Sole". The babes boyfriend travelled down for her birthday and she invited all of us, they still abused her about how her boyfriend is broke too and could only buy cake and drinks. Whenever I saw the babe then, I used to feel sorry for her because she didn't know what was being said about her. Funny enough, the babe got married to the same guy and they are doing fine financially now ( I follow her on Instagram).

What have I learnt so far;
1. If you have to stay with someone for a while, make sure you have enough money. Even if you don't cook and clean, so far as you are paying all their bills and dashing them money, they will be happy with you. Just be giving them money until you leave.
Ekene Uwenma wanted her child to be a US citizen but couldn't afford everything ( accommodation) and now she has paid for it with a dented reputation. No help is free in this life, you must pay for it one way or another.

2. If you have to stay with someone for a while then expect the worst. Anything your eyes see for there, just endure and forgive the person.

Have you every lived with someone before? What was your experience like? Was your reputation damaged to their friends and are you still close to the person?

Very soon there will be no tenant housing in Lagos anymore as it is now bad business. Children are selling off their late parents tenant houses, everywhere demolition.

Nothing is free in this life, you will pay for it one way or another. The person that is helping you or giving you that gift has a motive in their mind, it's later on you will realize it.

There is Fauni/LG store in Bode Thomas, surulere and Allen Avenue, Ikeja. There are others in different local government, it depends on where you stay.
JC2021:
Thank you for this.

My issue with used ones is that they consume too much power. That was why I sold the last one I was using.
Where can I get original Hisense in Lagos? So many stores are offering different prices.
What model do you suggest?
Properties › Re: Pls Recommend A Good Chest Freezer by missidy: 3:09pm On Jan 26
Buy from Fauni/LG , they are the distributors of Hisense and you have warranty with them.
For the model, the one my boo uses is the small sized freezer. I don't know the name of the exact model.

For brand new - Hisense . Freezes to the core and last. Their warranty works.

For Tokunbo - Haundekk, Privileg. They are German freezers. My brother uses Haundekk, NEPA will take light for three day and the freezer will still be blocked and releasing smoke when you open it. We dey hail that freezer abeg, five years now he has been using it. I use Privilege but Haundekk is better.

If you are in Lagos, go to Lawanson market. Carry a fridge technician with you.

Bonus - For brand new don't ever buy Scanfrost, the most useless of them all. Bought it brand new and it didn't last up to two years.

I also come from a family where couples don't share the same bedroom. My grandparents, parents and uncles with their wives all have separate bedrooms. I think it mostly occurs with arranged marriages and also those that live in the houses they built because they have more than enough bedrooms.
I have made up my mind that I will never copy that kind of living arrangement. My husband and I will share the same bedroom.

Ok, thanks. So that means the extra fees per school is non-negotiable. Hmmm
Taal17:
You might want to start applying for courses and determine which schools you want that require a WES evaluation. That way you decide how you will spend in terms of schools that need WES and are worth your time.

Please someone should kindly shed light on this. I'm doing WES course by course evaluation for USA admission which is $233. I have already budgeted for it only for me to start the process and they say I will be charged $34 extra for each school they are sending the transcript too.

Please is this how it really is? I thought everything is digital and already included in the $233. Please did anyone experience this too and had to pay extra for each school they applied to?

Family › Re: How Old Were Your Parents When They Got Married by missidy: 1:58pm On Nov 03, 2025
10- 15 years age gap is always sweet in marriage until the man gets old. By the time the man is old, the woman is still young and has strength to deal with him. The men suffer in old age, room smelling of urine, wife feeding them anything they like and also cheating them of their money (thanks to dementia). I have witnessed this first hand with olden days couples including my grand parents.
All the cheating men and those that maltreated their wives, that is the payback time.
