HealthRe: My Thoughts About Nigeria Medical Doctors. by MISSOPTIMIST(f): 11:20pm On Aug 31, 2018
eendy:
Having gone through your post, it's sad most of what you mentioned up there turns out to be true... The Nigerian system lacks a structure and the medical profession is not left out, it's sad the art of clearking and examining a patient is really dying so patients are at the receiving end.
Unfortunately the average Nigerian doctor is arrogant but then there are some you encounter ... You get better even before taking your meds.
it's not likely to change anytime soon anyway but then we only home the next generation turns out to be better.
mind you am a doctor.
God bless you for being truthful.. Most of your colleagues will never admit the truth.

When they go to those other countries.. Shebi they will behave well.. Who is the fool here? Nigerian doctors in Nigeria really need to have sense..

FamilyRe: I Found My Father After 24 Years, But... by MISSOPTIMIST(f): 6:49pm On Nov 25, 2017
Metrobaba:
Dear Nairalanders: I Need Your Matured Advice.

I Don't Need To Create A Different Moniker Coz Life Is Unfair.

Take Time To Read And Offer Your Best Advice.

Since I Was Born, I Know My Father Exist But Sadly, I Don't Know His Whereabout For The Past 24yrs.

ABOUT MY FATHER.

My Father Studied Abroad, Graduated With 1st Class Honours (comes with an Award and Cash Prize). He Came Back And Employed By Rivers State Govt. After Some Time, The Award/Prize Came From Switzerland. He Was Informed. Those Who Received n Was In charge Declared Him Dead. He Name Was Removed From Voucher, And They Wanted To Kill Him.

From Some Books I Saw He Wrote, He Was Referred To As "Dr.", Working 2wards His "Professorship".

My Mom Told Me That He Wrote To Ex President Jonathan, And He (Jonathan) Assigned Some Govt Officials, They Were Invited To Abuja, And After That Nothing Was Done.

I Don't Know How He Feeds, Cloth Or Where He Resides (Exact Location).

FAST TRACK TO 2017.

After Graduating In 2016, My Family Members Pressured Me To Search For Him If He Was Still Alive. As The Only Child, I Need No Other Alternative Than To The Needful.

I Started The Journey From Rivers State To Abuja, With The Help Of Some Unknown Person's In Abuja. I Pleaded With Him To Come Home, And Those Persons Assisted Me And He Came Home.

We Had Our 1st Family Meeting, Which I Promise To Handle The Issue In A More Diplomatic Way With The Assistance Of Some People I Discussed With.

I Started Working With Those Men, We Scheduled A Date To See The Ex Governor Of Rivers State (Ex Gov. Omehia). Dear Nairalanders, Just Some Weeks To The Date, My Father Ran Back To Abuja.

I Was Disappointed. I Swept Bitterly. This Man Doesn't Know How His Only Child Eat, Cloth, Or How I Managed Throughout My Days As An Undergraduate, And More Importantly, The Past 24yrs.

My Mom Is Suffering - Emotionally And Otherwise.

How Can I Handle This Situation?

Have I Not Tried My Best?

I Am More Than Confused.
[/quote]What a story bro. So sorry but I believe you need to put yourself in your dad's shoes.

Who wants him dead? What did he do or refuse to do? Are his fears valid? Have you confirmed this from his family and friends? Is it a case of village arrow or hallucination brought on by a medical condition? If his fears are valid, then allow him be in his spot at Abuja. I mean, if someone wants a man dead and he strongly believes this, taking him to that spot or state is worsening things.

Go and visit your dad in Abuja once in a while. Let the man be at peace and you too learn to give yourself peace. If he didn't take care of you since and you are standing tall then trust me, you'll be fine. Don't worry about what he didn't do these past years. You are lucky you even found your dad. Some die without knowing a thing. Give yourself rest I say again.

God bless you bro

I strongly recommend the above advice and the likes judging by the little bit of information in your story..

Life is what we make it.. when it gives you lemon, go on and make lemonade with it.. your dad is a grown man.. there must have been reasons for his actions. Go to Abuja, develop a good relationship with him, find out what actually happened, or what is currently happening... Help him however you can, if you can.. but whatever happens, give yourself peace.. you are a man now.. so it's your turn to live... live your life my friend.. 24years is good enough.. God has preserved you.. you can be everything you want to be..
More courage bro..

Some men, truss me they're something else. But you see all these ladies at the top? Maan defo worst. Your avg black woman would like throw her muscle around even if it's not required. If there's one thing I love its a woman that can get for herself. But watch as she gets it, the whole humanity and compassion flies off the window
It is well oh.. we all have to keep learning and un-learning.. I believe a successful woman is a crown to her husband.. but like you rightly pointed out, we ladies need to watch it so it doesn't get into our heads.. it all begins with how you handle your home as a man sha, love and understanding would help a lot too. You also need to carefully choose your partner oh.. I cannot shout.... marry your friend mbok..

I'm yet to see a rich lady that is humble.
I'm yet to see that lady that has attained some level of academic and financial prowess that is humble.
Once they've started making some monthly cash and seeing some cash...they change over night and start giving rules on how you follow them. It's in every woman.
And to you men. Never stay low of yourself. Even if you're a truck pusher.
Always stay true and determined with your work. Do not as the head sell your headright to any woman.
Stay true and fear God with this, you can humble any woman of any class.
It's in every human dear.. but a man is still the head.. so men should learn to be in control with love, care and understanding..
I love this particular line:
Always stay true and determined with your work. Do not as the head sell your headright to any woman.

You can be a role model to your wife

Bollocks! Combine everything in there and the result is ATTITUDE

Esp when you talk about your number 2-5 they're basically the same thing. Problem is an average black woman, when she gets to a certain stage in her career develops an attitude feeling her level is unattainable. No man wants unnecessary headache.

How many persons here has seen a rich lady that's humble? There are but they are rare.
They'd want to make sure they smear it in your face that's why you see most of them end up miserable.

I'm making my own money so anyone with unnecessary attitude can quietly bugger off.
Bro calm down mbok, it seems you speak from experience wink. You were right sha... but in my opinion, I think love, understand and diligence on the side of a man can bend any woman.. I personally do not like it when a woman dominates her husband.. but some husbands shaa.
NYSCRe: Jigawa Corpers Queue To Get Water From The Tap At NYSC Camp by MISSOPTIMIST(f): 9:05pm On May 23, 2017
LonglifeRng:
this is not Jigawa camp because at this moment we don't have such weather for the plantations at the back of the water tank. Beside, what's there to show they're corpers or the place is a camp? That old woman holding the pole is also a corper? What about these old buckets? Is this a coincidence that no one is wearing anything from their kits that was given immediately after the registration? So many questions to ask for a reasonable sense.
My thoughts exactly. Something is not just right. This doesn't look like it. That camp is very beautiful.

Jigawa State NYSC Camp is one of the best camp in Nigeria, the man tagging this picture is not sincere at all, why dont you snap the rest of the structures of building and post it along? and WE KNOW THE CAMP IS A BEAUTIFUL ESTATE IN FANISAU. i knw Jigawa NYSC ccapm is far better than your State village camp.
I'm really very surprised to see this, it doesn't look like the Fanisau camp I saw three years ago. I know a lot of things would have changed sha. This is just way too far from it. I know this camp to be one of the best. I visited this place each time a new batch came into camp in my one year of service and it was as beautiful as always. I just hope it hasn't become this bad.
NYSCRe: Jigawa Corpers Queue To Get Water From The Tap At NYSC Camp by MISSOPTIMIST(f): 8:53pm On May 23, 2017
Got to NYSC orientation Camp, Fanisau Dutse, Jigawa state in the afternoon yesterday. So man decided to get water from the tap in order to shower so as to refresh the body, only to meet this queue. Meanwhile, camp just opened yesterday and it's just 10% of we new Corpers that already arrived. So I anticipate for a rugged three weeks.
I just hope this is not true. I was part of the pioneer set that used this camp at in February 2012 (Batch A). It was a pleasant experience I'll never forget. The camp was newly built. No bunks in some of the hostels at that time, but we had new mattresses and some basic facilities to keep us comfortable. We had constant light, fans (which we didn't use because the weather was too cold), regular supply of water, water heater in the bathroom that I so much enjoyed, etc. They'll turn on the heater at about 5 am in the morning and those of us who preferred hot bath will soak ourselves in it. You could practically take your bath three times a day if you wanted. It was that fun. Infact, NYSC in Jigawa state is still one of my best experience. My first time on such a long journey. My first experience of night journey, and first visit to Northern Nigeria.

FamilyRe: Pls Help, My Mum Is Suffering From Megalomania And Am Begining To Hate Her. by MISSOPTIMIST(f): 4:16pm On Feb 20, 2017
Annamma:
Hi fellow humans, my beloved mother is unknowingly forcing me to hate her. She has suddenly become megalomaniac.

She always want to have the final say in every issue not minding the feelings of others. She doesnt waste time to switch her allegiance and love to any of her children that has it big at the very moment..

She is in her 60s but always believe she knows the current things more than us. Immagine the torchlight Nokia phone we bought for her she cant even operate it well, but now telling us that we dont love her because we didnt buy android touchscreen phone for her to be browsing.
What is she going to browse? when she cant even communicate with english fluently.

You will teach her one thing for many months and even spend years doing serial correction for her, yet she wont get it right.

She is also very ungrateful... She lacks nothing as we timely assist her with upkeep allowances. My Dad still provide for all her daily needs too.

Nairalanders i cant even say much, infact i thought of committing suicide yesterday because of her unbearing attitude...

This megalomania is destroying the love i once had for her.
Pls what do i do as i have tried talking to her about this severally, only for the peaceful talks to snowball into a fiercing quarrell ofwhich it echo reaches the next day.

Pls what should i do?
@OP, I couldn't read through all the comments, but I guess someone would have told you this. Your mum is only going through a stage of life.. be more patient with her... apply wisdom in dealing with her.... observe her happy moments and maximise them.. try to work on your sef to accept the changes in her as it happens differently to everybody (it'll happen to you some day, maybe you can learn from this)... learn not to respond or react to everything she says or does, sometimes just smile... give her d phone or d cash to buy it, teach her how to browse, leave her to learn, fall and stumble while at it..(she watched you do this at different stages of your life before you became the person you are now)... she is still that loving mother... love her all the same.. in no time, everything will be fine... I was once in your shoes... if you think of all she's been through for you, you'll tolerate more.
