select500:
It seems your friend travelled with a visiting visa, which has now expired. If he actually has a Green Card, then he will definately have more opportunities open to him.
Nooooo.. he doesnt have a green card yet. He was given a 2years Visa in 2011.
TravelRe: What Is Green About The American Green Card? by Mist100(op):
He has been saving but not enough for tuition, gas, electricity, tax etc. The only thing Peter has sent to his fiance is an old Nokia phone that can't be unlocked. All the engineers in Nigeria have tried to unlock this gadget but left the thing feeling really bad. His parents are bitter and the girlfriend partially blames me for not advising him appropriately. Is it my fault? after all I prayed, we all prayed. Peter hasn't saved up enough to offset his debts back home. Other children are demanding their share of their fathers' house and his fiance wants her N800,000. She is expecting a baby and needs the money for child support. I wonder when Peter came to Nigeria and got his fiance pregnant in the midst of his challenges.

My friends Visa expired in 2013 and now he is stuck.

No doubts, America is a highly sophisticated and developed nation that promises several opportunities through her free enterprise system but the grass is not always greener at the other side. Its fine to look oversees if you are unemployed and doing nothing to create economic value as long as you don't mortgage your future. If its possible to raise N2,000,000 for a trip to the USA why wouldnt you think of some form of investments back home. Yes its difficult because the operating environment is stifflingbut its very possible. This is not to say there are not successful people who have travelled but count your cost and have your plans before you leap.

TravelWhat Is Green About The American Green Card? by Mist100(op): 5:07pm On Jan 06, 2015
I see lots of employed people giving up their entire livelihood for an American visa and eventually the American green card. Peter, a friend I used to hang out with in a local bar back then in mile 2 resigned from being a junior analyst in a FOREX company, sold his car, his fathers house and
borrowed N800,000 from his fiancee to travel to the USA. My friend raised nearly N5,000,000. A whooping N5million. Finally he flew into the USA in June, 2011 to hussle. The hopes of family, friends and fiancee were as high as kilimanjaro. He owed us including me because I offered prayers too. I frowned at his lavishing N5m on an uncertain trip while secretly nursing the idea of traveling too if he makes it real big. After all, the tales back home sounds like dollars are picked from trees like agbalumo (Chery fruit).

Truthfully, I started dreaming like Osofia and his fiance started planning on having a child that will be
born clinching to an American green card. He usually calls every week but we mostly do mails. In one of our correspondences he complained of not being able to secure a descent office job in spite of his finance degree, only menial jobs. I advised him to brush up with school while he does the menial jobs for now. He started work as a dish washer in a 3 star hotel then a scavenger for a collecting house then a fair job as a massager. Now he massages old people.

If he has been behaving funny lately, then he may not necessarily be seeing anyone but have doubts about you. Below are 5 things that may be fueling his doubts.

1. You don't listen. When he wants to talk don't be too tired to listen and listen with not just your ears but your heart. Yes, some guys can be really naggy those are a few exceptions and I understand.

2. You behave suspicious. When he picks your phone
don't question, don't fret allow him scroll and with time he will have no reason to probe except if you'v got things to hide and haven't hidden them well.

3. He says you are selfish. When a good guy says you are selfish you probably are. How many times have you gotten him N400 recharge card? How many times have you gotten him a T shirt or panties or boxers? Except you are not into him then no ish.

4. You don't notice him. When he wears that suit or just shaves and smells good tell him as often as you can. Guys also love compliments they are humans with emotions too. Forget the muscles; they cry in their closet, they feel pain and love.

5. You are obsessed with your phone. With facebooks, bbm, whatsapp and the others, its difficult keeping your fingers away from the key pads. Do not over indulge with your phone when around him. Each time he raises his head while having a chat with you, you are partially talking and partially typing. He may not complain today but in the end you may ultimately loose him. Be careful.

BusinessRe: Business School On Nairaland. by Mist100(op): 8:02am On Jan 03, 2015
Cash Cow Stage:
This is a stage where you still have plenty of customers but they are no longer increasing i.e a large market share with a very low possibility for growth or expansion.
Years after, indomie noodles is now mature with the largest market share but aren't growing as fast as they were when they launched. This is because several other noodle brands have surfaced; Chikki, dangote noodles, honey well noodles and many others. All of them came in and grabbed there are own share of the market thereby slowing down indomie. Alhaja's shop is home to all of these other brands so she still smiles to the bank while the managers at indomie finds a way to expand into new markets.

Dog Stage:
At this stage, your customers are very few and they are not increasing i.e little market share with a low or no possibility for growth.
If you decide to introduce another brand of noodles let's say "indolick" considering the present competition, you will have to beg "Alhaja" to stock your "indolick" in her shop. Then you will come back after a week for your money; that is if she ever makes more than a few sales and hasn't used the money for "Amala and Gbegiri". In a saturated market this is what you get. There are a million brands of noodles everywhere so your share of the market will be so small, smaller than a needles eye in a mature market.
All the money you will likely make will just be to run the business. Transportation, phone calls, bills and the rest. If you are able to break even; a situation where there is neither gain nor loss, consider yourself lucky and head to church for thanks giving.

BusinessBusiness School On Nairaland. by Mist100(op): 10:46pm On Jan 02, 2015
For those with the aspiration of attending a business school, I will be bringing you MBA tips from a typical school curriculum as often as I can.

What stage is your business?
Every business is in any of these stages.

Chicken or question mark Stage

This is simply a stage where your customers are still few but they keep increasing everyday i.e little market share with high possibility for growth.
Imagine when indomie noodles was introduced about 15 years ago, most of us teenagers or kids at the time have never heard of the word noodles with the exception of those of you born and bred in China. We quickly fell in love with the worms in mama's pot because it was easy, cheap, tasty and fast; it took only 4 minutes to prepare a pack. The market share of indomie noodles was very tiny but the possibility for growth was huge. So the managers at indomie noodles were happy and hopeful that one day they will keep smiling to the banks.

Eagle or Star Stage:
This is a stage where you now have plenty of customers and they still keep increasing i.e large market share and the possibility of growth is still enormous.
After a while, say 2 years, indomie was everywhere in shops, kiosks and corners 247. You will always find a pack of indomie in every trash can or most trash cans. Mothers bribed children with indomie and new borns instead of crying upon delivery sang the latest indomie advert. The demand for indomie was far more than they could supply. So the managers kept smiling to the banks including the "Alhaja" in Obalende.

I will post the other two stages later.

Love is neither a feeling or a surge of emotions,
it is knowing his weaknesses and yet emphasizing his strength,
it is feeling his every thought in his kisses,
it is seeing a beautiful tomorrow in his eyes even when things become rough.

The above conversion is wrong.
$30 million dollars using the exchange rate of N187 = $1 is equivalent to N5.6 billion.
$79,182,000 million dollars is about N14 billion.
Yeah.... sorry for the typo but I used a conservative exchange rate of N170/dollar before the oil burst. $79,182,00=N13,460,940,000
and $30,000,000=N5,100,000,000

Summarize and score your favourite movie here and the lessons you learnt from the movie. I and other forum members may be interested in your favorite movie. so let's share.

I will start with "Tucker: The man and his dreams". Preston Tucker had a
dream of building better and safer cars and
started to work towards his dreams. But reality soon dawns. Though his designs were the best, the super powers were determined to frustrate him. From physical threats to court cases he came out strong but battered. Only 50 of his cars were ever produced, before he died of a disease 6 years later. Years later, his designs were incorporated into all the cars we ride in today.

I took this five lessons away :
1. Brilliant ideas are not a guarantee to
success.
2. There are people who will be deeply hurt
by your brilliant idea and will move to
muscle you if they can.
3. For your idea to fly you may need to
collaborate, compromise, sacrifice and dilute
your initial plans.
4. Every man needs a good woman to help
him through rough times.
5. In the pursuit of your dreams, the laws of
the land may not be able to protect you.
Thread carefully or be crushed.
