CaptainOjemba:What are you saying, Some analysts questioned the creation of new states even in the 1990s given that some of the states have not been able to generate IGR above N10 billion. Notably, Ekiti, Kebbi, Katsina, Osun, Zamfara, Taraba, Gombe, Nassarawa and Benue created in the aforementioned period, showed a combined IGR of N41.65 billion last year. |
PerfumeRepublik:Enugu generates 20.20bn , rivers 87.91bn , Lagos 384.25bn but sincerely the state really impress me compare to states like taraba ,bayelsa , niger ,zamfara ,plateau, anambra ,kastina , kogi . Kudos to Lagos state though ![]() |

In all, the PDP and the president raked in over N21 billion, with donations coming from government contractors, nameless associates, and Tunde Ayeni, the head of Skye Bank, who has bought a string of government assets, including the mega telecoms carrier, NITEL/MTEL, in a process that has already become controversial. On Monday, Arabian Amlak Investment Limited, one of the 22 companies that bid for NITEL, filed a legal challenge, saying the Nigerian government, through the Bureau of Public Enterprises, deliberately skewed the privatisation process to favour Mr. Ayeni’s company. As chairman of the PDP fund raiser, Mr. Ayeni donated N2 billion. He announced that he was donating N1 billion on behalf of himself and an unnamed partner, and another two billion on behalf of his friends. After a while, Mr. Ayeni returned to the podium to announce another donation of half a billion naira on behalf of himself and other players in the country’s power sector. A former Information Minister, Jerry Gana, announced a donation of N5billion, again, on behalf of his unnamed friends and associates in the power sector. Other major donors were oil and gas operators– N5 billion; players in Real Estate and Building – N4 billion; Transport and Aviation – N1billion; Food and Agriculture – N500 million; Power – N500 million; Construction – N310 million; Road Construction – N250 million; National Automotive Association – N450 million; Shelter Development Limited – N250 million; and SIFAX group – N100 million. But the governors’ donations stood out for many reason, including the fact that workers in many of their states remain without pay for months even with Christmas and New Year around the corner. In Plateau State, under Jonah Jang, workers are currently owed three months of pay. In Ondo State, Governor Olusegun Mimiko has also failed to pay secondary school teachers and other categories of workers for the last three months. In Benue State, workers have been at a longstanding confrontation with the governor, Gabriel Suswam, who has yet to pay them for months. In Abia State, led by Theordore Orji, beside secondary school teachers who were last paid in August, and primary school teachers, last paid in October, secondary school teachers told PREMIUM TIMES on Monday they have not received leave allowances in the last five years. In Enugu State, civil servants are yet to be paid for November, more than three weeks into the new month. Workers who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES said in past years, the culture was that by now, they would have been paid for December. On Monday, labour union leaders in the state gave the state governor, Sullivan Chime, a 21-day ultimatum to clear salary backlog and resolve other pending issues relating to staff welfare or face strike. A statement signed by Igbokwe Igbokwe, the state Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC), and the chairmen and secretaries of all labour unions in the state, vowed to commence an indefinite strike January 15, 2015, if the demands are not met. Akwa Ibom’s case remains one of the most intriguing given the amount the state draws monthly. While other states receive an average of N5billion, Akwa Ibom and Rivers State receive as much as N25 billion monthly as federal allocation. Still, state workers and pensioners have not received pay for several months, and local government workers are currently on strike. While the state is not directly responsible for paying local government workers, all states in the country operate a compulsory joint account with local governments, and disbursement of local government funds are carried out by the governors. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/173690-akpabio-jang-imoke-suswam-others-donate-n1billion-pdp-owing-workers-months.html |
GEJ’s campaign promises &its fulfilment so far; “I do not make empty promises in my campaign because whatever I promise to do, I had already carried out adequate study to make sure I can accomplish it in the next four years – President Goodluck Jonathan” There are several promises made by the President while seeking election in 2011 and most of them are yet to be fulfilled. Yet, we have been seeing diverse kinds of adverts by the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) and several other sycophantic groups. I believe most of them are not aware of the litany of promises made by “Azikwe Jonathan” or they have just deliberately chosen to tow the path of deceit. Just to remind TAN, GIFT and all other GEJITES, here are some of the key promises made in 2010: In The Oil And Gas Sector, he made promises to ensure the PIB is passed and signed into law. He also made promises to construct 2 world class petrochemical plants, 2 fertilizer processing plants and 2 fertilizer blending plants. He promised to build a $3 billion central gas processing facility by 2012 to be sited in Obiaruku, Delta State. He promised that within four years in power he will make Nigeria go beyond producing and exporting crude oil to exporting refined petroleum products thereby putting an end to importation of petrol and kerosene. Jonathan's Achievement; Oil theft has increased under his watchful eyes despite billions of dollars awarded for oil facility surveillance and security to private citizens. That the minister of petroleum resources can’t give a precise figure of the crude oil being lifted daily is an indictment of gross incompetence and recklessness. In The Power Sector, despite the privatization of the distribution companies and billions of dollars spent we are yet to see any appreciable improvement in power. Promises were made by the President to ensure uninterrupted power supply in his first term in office. He boasted that Nigerians will dump their generator sets as they would no longer need them. Jonathan's Achievement Sadly, many Nigerians have had to purchase more generators to support the already existing ones. On Security, which is the primary purpose of governance, the promises were not only unfulfilled, the situation got worse. Mr. President promised make anyone caught breaching the public peace to face the full wrath of the law. He promised to make sure that no part of the country is allowed to be a sanctuary for criminals anymore, yet Sambisa is a den of terrorists. He promised to confront headlong ethno religious violence in the country, pursue all bombers and bring a complete end to insurgency. However, as I write insurgency is still thriving in the Northeast with territories being taken, students being maimed, abducted and citizens displaced in their own country. The notorious Shekau has cheated death several times despite claims to have been killed by security operatives and oh, he even addresses the nation more than the President! To even make matters worse, a close ally of the President threatened fire and brimstone should the President go ahead with the groundbreaking takeoff of a proposed gas project in Ugborodo. Consequently, the President had to cancel the ceremony with the excuse of allowing warring factions settle. The failure of the security operatives to arrest and prosecute the individual further emboldened him to abduct journalists, torture them mercilessly before releasing them for having the effrontery to cover the events happening in Ugborodo. Yet, nothing has been done to punish the said individual. On Corruption, which is the bane of every society, our President acknowledged its high level and made promises to tackle it ruthlessly if voted into power in 2011. He promised to ensure there is no sacred cow in the fight against corruption. He promised to strengthen the anti-graft institutions and vowed never to interfere with corruption cases. Surprisingly, the same man said most of what we are calling corruption is just “petty stealing”. Yet under his watch, a minister of aviation was caught misappropriating and stealing funds with over- bloated bulletproof car purchase. Another minister spent over 12 billion naira of public funds to charter private jet and to make matters worse, she is being shielded from facing the probe panel set up by the House of Representatives. The oil subsidy thieves are still roaming the streets and most of them are now allies of our President. The same corruption is attributable to the rot in our defense against insurgency with billions of dollars spent on security and nothing to show for it. On The Economy, several promises were also made to build a new economy that is strong and dynamic. He promised to diversify the economy and move us to an export driven country. He also promised to revive the Ajaokuta steel company and Itakpe Ore Company. Sadly, none of these has been achieved. All we are left with is the boast of making Nigeria the largest economy in Africa. To burst his burble, I will like to state that our economy hadn’t been rebased for about twenty four years before the last rebasing. Therefore, the glory of making our economy the largest should be attributed and shared by the past governments from 1990 till date. Inflation has increased, austerity measures are being put in place, naira has weakened and the economic condition of an average Nigerian hasn’t improved. A chunk of the external reserves left by the previous administration has been squandered and our ECA has been depleted with no meaningful development in infrastructure and social amenities. On Respect For The Constitution And The Rule Of Law, the President promised while campaigning to have utmost respect of the rule of law and he even swore an oath to defend the constitution. I strongly doubt if disobeying court judgments that are not in consonance with his wishes amount to respect for the rule of law. The recent undermining of the legislative arm of government is also a testament to disrespect for our constitution. I knew we would get to this point ever since the President openly recognized and acknowledge that “16 is greater than 19” in the governor’s forum election that saw his man lose and ''7 is greater than 19'' in Ekiti State. We have equally seen the abuse of power by police who now takes side with the ruling party by preventing opposition members in the House of Assembly from gaining entrance into the complex. Yet, the C-in-C hasn’t called the IG to order. Lastly, on agriculture the president made several promises to boost agriculture through irrigation, provision of fertilizers, silos to help preserve farm products, ensure exportation of rice, production of cash and local crops, etc. In this area, I will give the President a pass mark despite some of the promises being unfulfilled. Notably, fertilizer distribution to real end-users has improved and of course the ridiculous provision of mobile phones to the farmers at about 60 billion naira isn’t a bad idea after all. It is only in Nigeria that a leader would make empty campaign promises without fulfilling them, yet seek re-election. Only an unreasonable man will seek employment for an opening he has already tried at and failed woefully. I won't let anyone brainwash me with any other promises again, I would rather void my vote than vote for GEJ. Thanks |

Remarkable:Will there be a way where there seems to be no way? Give a man power and know whom he is. As a patriotic youth, GEJ has failed us real, but is the solution in a 72year old man named Buhari? Youth let us think. If GMB does not has a concrete secret plan, he wouldn't be hammering nail on a particular spot (i.e 16years of vying 4dis presidential post). A word is enough for the wise. I pray my country Nigeria will not crumble before righteous people take charge. God bless Nigeria..... |
kelechiodo:Mr Kelechiodo, In the 2011 Presidential Election, some Nigerians consciously voted Ebele Jonathan, because he was raised from a humble background, Otueke , Bayelsa State & belong to the Ijaw minority, and so preempted that "He understand what it means to live in a shanty or slum", where poverty is well spelt... #Ok! Remember, people's background don't change, only their money, power & fame make them change place; you can still queue under the scotching sun to vote him for a re-election, because his background has not changed... My survey shows that the PDP was not a party to be voted for, in the 2011 Presidential election because 'GEJ was voted for the reasons earlier stated above...#Ok. Come 2015, Ebele Jonathan wants to be voted because he has 'no hands' in all the corrupt practices that has characterised his led administration and his impacts in all our spheres of sectors, most particularly he needs more time to fix our economic & security challenges. Surprisingly some passionate right thinking Nigerians are busy putting up coverup stories for Mr. President... #Ok If u like u can vote Ebele Jonathan or even a donkey... #WhoCaresButThink #MakeTheRightChoiceToday. |

Forewords, the Nigerian polity has been badly overheated by our politicians and their gullible followers; following the numerous campaign of calumny against each others preferred candidate, which has the capacity of pushing our heritage towards extinction. We must call all their paid E-rats to order because we would all bare the consequences, if their campaign of calumny and blasphemous updates finally boomerang... Regardless of your ethno-religious identity, no political party or politician is worth your madness, no political party or politician deserve your inhumanity towards your fellow humans, no political party or politician is worth your precious breath, no political party or politician is worth the sacrifice of your promising future, no political party or politician is worth your sense of reasoning, and on a final note NO POLITICAL PARTY OR POLITICIAN IS WORTH YOUR STUPIDITY. Furthermore, INEC having satisfied the yearnings of a considerable population of eligible voters and stakeholders in the forthcoming general election, all we demand is an issues focused campaign, a blasphemy-free campaign, campaigns free from inflammatory statements that are capable of throwing the country into total chaos, build up an atmosphere for intellectual discussions amongst candidates in order to test their competence and psycho strength, await the unveiling of every political party strategic plans towards realising the Nigeria of our dream and their much required agreement to avert every form of post elections hullabaloo... Our decisions to ensure that we always avoid using derogatory words on family and friends, whose allegiances are pledged to either President Ebele Jonathan's reelection or Gen. Muhammadu Buhari's election, on our attempt to convince them to cast their votes for our preferred candidate, is a tough one but its a price we must pay, because ELECTIONS ARE SEASONAL, POLITICIANS ARE UNPREDICTABLE but family and friends are forever... Conclusively, we must all come to terms that Nigeria is our collective heritage, we must implore our electoral institution to conduct a free, fair and credible election, we must uphold our suffrage, we must do everything possible to avoid being used as political destructive mercenaries and we must also call our followers to order... @mistabiola |
