Properties / What Should This Tenant Do ? by MisterBanny(m): 8:15pm On Mar 26
As I type this, I'm confused and don't know the advice to offer my co-tenant.
I live in a selfcon, I have a co-tenant who lives in two bedroom besides my own apartment. This co-tenant has four kids. He packed into the house in November last year. But before he packed in, the house was in a delapidated state and almost unhabitable. He renovated the house and packed in.
After two months of packing in, our landlord sold the apartment and asked him to move out. The tenant feels he has been used by the landlord because he took his time to fix that house before moving in. The landlord has agreed to give him a balance of whatever is left from the rent since he's already spent five months in there, but same landlord refused to take responsibility for the payment of any expenses incurred in the renovation of the apartment carried out by the tenant.
There's a serious altercation between the landlord and the tenant now.
What is the advice to the tenant Please?

NemoDatQuod:
I hope you have a genuine understanding of what happens when interest rates are raised? It increases the cost of living. The guy who has money to go speculate on forex has no problems with rates increase. In fact, it affords him more opportunities for "rent seeking" i.e making money without being productive. Treasury bills become more attractive to him and even fixed deposit schemes become more alluring to him, while at the same time he is using his funds (most likely stolen from you and I) to continue to "rent seek", on the exchange rate.

But you and me, the common man, who are already out of pocket because we either do not get paid well enough at work or we just do not have jobs, we are the burden bearers. Our purchasing power shrinks further, even though it is almost dead already, to begin with. Food, fees, transport, housing etc all increases for me and you. Hence, that increase in interest rate will not serve any purpose other than making the already rich guy richer and impoverishing you and I even further. That is why our interest rate regime has never achieved its purpose. The real players causing problems are not affected. In fact, interest rate hikes reward them. That's why our rates keep going up until they get to 60% one day.

When was the last time we had interest rates of 2% or 3% , something that is the fare in developed societies?

For anything to work in Nigeria, we have to first kill the monster called corruption. It is the beginning and end of all of our problems. It is the architect of the tribalism that has become individualised and profitable to so many Nigerians today. Yes, in Nigeria, tribalism has become a profitable business. Crime/ banditry, etc are all originated from it. And we can solve the problem. We simply need a few good men. But they are nowhere to be found because the structure of public service in Nigeria is built on the foundation of corruption.

Anyone who does not know that that country is in serious long term crisis, has not yet started. It is not about who is the president. It s about making significant, life altering surgery on the administration of government in Nigeria. Yet, the process of seeking public office is the first son of corruption. The judiciary is it's siamese twin and law enforcement is fighting with the military and other agencies on who should assume the mantle of third son.

So, no Sir. There will be no mopping up of anything. The only thing being mopped up is the very little money that you and I have honestly and diligently earned and which has never been enough for anything. And it will make no impact because it is small change. The forex in the hands of our oppressors will remain in their hands and even become more attractive. It is not market forces that are leading to the gains of the Naira. It is organised speculation by the very same individuals who increased the exchange rate in the first place.

In a decadent society, the worst thing you can do is to hand over control to criminals. You make everyone in that society a victim of the criminals, whereas in the past, they could only steal from a select few. Now they are manipulating everything including our currency and interest rate and are raping us before our very eyes.

It is indeed a terrible time to live in Nigeria. I don't know what I would have done if I was still leaving in that country. It is easy to tell someone who does not have, to be patient or that God will see him through. But the hunger, the humiliation of not taking care of yourself enough, let alone take care of those you love, will still be there. The only question is " at what point will a majority of Nigerians rise up and say "it is better to die on my feet than to live on my knees like a dog"?

Oh! and the next time any Nigerian follows after the crowd and stone or burn to death the poor guy who stole bread because he is hungry, or because his family is hungry, that Nigerian should look at himself/herself and call yourself a useless coward. This is for every Nigerian. You are angry and take the life of someone who was hungry. Yet, you "dobale" and make obeisance to and serve the very persons who have turned your daughters/sisters/wives into runs girls, the very men who have robbed you of your dignity. It is now a long midnight. A very long midnight. And only Nigerians will decide how long that midnight is going to be.

Kill corruption and Nigeria will rise. Only the common man in Nigeria can kill corruption. History is replete with examples of the common man killing corruption. It happened in almost all the societies that we run away to today for safe guarding, myself included.

If you need (QUICK) loan avoid loan-sharks. If loan is the only hope left to meet your urgent need, use your bank. Most bank has made getting loan easier now, with just 1 click on their app, ussd or internet banking. Their interest is peanut compare to loan shark and you have 12 months to payback. (50k loan from your bank the interest is less than 10k WITH 12MONTHs liquidation period, while loan shark interest is between 30-45k and duration is a month or 3.)

I don't see reasons why people still use loan shark, maybe you think bank still requires Collaterals for quickloans.

I thought its only applicable to current account holders only?

exactly!!! you cant attract a person with free honey and then complain about her wanting to continue have free honey (after marriage).

if you paid for everything before marriage, then continued paying for everything when you proposed to her and then paid for everything when you decided to marry this woman then thats what she will expect you to continue doing... aka PAY FOR EVERYTHING.

any smart person knows that this sort of lifestyle is not only wrong but also very dangerous, but sadly the misplaced ego of these men is clouding their judgment, so they will do anything to continue this charade and pay for everything (so that everyone will view them as a "big man" ).... and when money don finish, thats when these men will start complaining about their wife not contributing.

I think you're the Most Intelligent, mature and Sensible guy on this platform. Thanks so much. Wish we could chat and discuss

the problem here is not these women and their failed mindset. the main problem here are MEN who go into these marriages pretending that they are gonna pay for EVERYTHING, (aka wifey has no financial obligation towards the family home etc), and then complain when wifey is not spending her money on the family.

you gladly created a monster and now want to complain about the very same monster YOU created?

if your wife has a JOB, then she should contribute to the family wellbeing FROM THE GET GO. so mortgage/bills/food/kids/outings etc is on her too.

You're spot on Here Bro. The men have given so much chance to the women and now they are flying so high. They saw all these Red flags right from day one, but they ignored them simply because they want to please the woman and assure her that he's extra-capable to handle all the needs

Romance / My Money Is my Money, But Your Money Is Our Money by MisterBanny(m): 12:02pm On Mar 25
This mindset/mentality from ladies is really messing up a lot of marriages and relationships.

Over 97% of women and ladies hardly spend a dime out of their earnings to support their husbands and Boyfriends. I thought women were meant to be an "Helpmate" ?
Most women believe that they have no financial obligations to meet as far as the Home is concerned. They can't even buy the most petty items for the house until their husbands buy. This act has caused a lot of broken marriages cos not many men would withstand such women. A man, no matter how wealthy he is, needs support from his wife no matter how little.

Many of your likes don't understand the true meaning of the word "immaturity" as u tend to misuse and abuse it most times. You define it to suit your personal narratives by deviating from it's original meaning. So u think a mature and responsible married woman who regards her marriage would do this?

but the guy in the story deliberately checked... And sorry how do you accidentally check because I have not been able to imagine how that can be possible... Do you accidentally go to here what app or Instagram? Or how...

Accidental in this regard means that , one of the partner may decide to get the other's phone maybe to get some videos, music or do some internet stuffs at a particular time. In the process, a message could pop up from another guy or babe they are cheating with. At the point, curiosity sets in.
Another instance is, ur girlfriend visits u and decided to put her phoyon silence every time she comes around, then u begin to get suspicious.
Again, while she is with you, she may decide against picking a call from a particular number. She does it all the time when she's with you.
Ask her to give u her password when she's in the restroom and u needed to do something urgently with her phone, she wouldn't. She would rather ask her guy to wait until she's done from the restroom.

All these and more are some of the reasons that people check their partners phones. Nobody just sits down and tell the partner to bring their phones to be checked.
I believe there would be no need to panic if there's nothing to hide.
Imagine some police officers came to your house with search warrant and told u to allow them in, to search for a Gun hidden there. If your so sure that u don't have a gun in there, u would gladly allow them in. But if there's a gun in there, u first start by resisting the officers and getting unnecessarily defensive. That's it

WHEN YOUR WHOLE MIND IS INVESTED IN MAKING MONEY AND BEING A BETTER PERSON............ you will have no HEART BREAK with ladies because YOU WILL NEVER TAKE THEM SUPER SERIOUS...

HEART BREAK is most painful when SHE IS ALL YOU GOT........... MONEY GIVES OPTIONS....

You will LOOSE MONEY chasing women, but never REALLY loose women if you FOCUS ON MAKING MONEY FIRST

Oga, forget it. No matter how rich you are, there's one lady out of many that u have that you will always Love and be Emotionally attached to. So what if it is such lady that breaks your heart?
Remember, money can never take the place of woman in your life.

You had NO business checking her phone.... A man should never do that.

If you don't feel you can trust her... Just leave her for the streets.

Women are always hypergamous... They will always look for someone better, that is why they say a woman never marries what she wants, she instead marries what she can. But if what she wants comes along.... Sope otilo

Stop this trash pls. I hate it when people say u have no right to check your partner's phone. Do u know what it means to be in a serious relationship that is about leading to Marriage? Or u think marriage is child's play? If you can Bleep her and have seen her unclothedness several times, then why can't u check her phone if u want? If there's nothing incriminating in her phone, then why should she not want it checked? A man or woman that wants to get married always carry out a background check on their partner, even the parents of the duo help in carrying out these checks particularly when they are from same place, as it helps to know exactly who you're getting married to. A lot is hidden in relationships, it is after marriage that their true character begins to manifest.

Some Ladies can't even leave their phones with their boyfriends for a minute. It's a redflag. Note, it's not like u deliberately collect her phone and say u want to check. No. Most times it is accidental

so sorry for this kind of experience but we need to change your SIMPlistic view on the matter... NOT ALL LADIES ARE LIKE HER, yes you need a break from relationships, go and LEARN the right way about relationships through books and counsellors who have a proven track record on such issues.

it may just have been the wake up call you need.

ONCE A MAN SLEEPS WITH A LADY, HE HAS CONQUERED HER WHILE SHE HAS BEEN CONQUERED.
YOU need to expose him to other colleagues before leaving that office. He is a shameless animal.

IN LIFE, NEVER MAKE YOUR WOMAN COME TO YOUR LEVEL OR ELSE YOU WILL LOOSE HER.

WHEN WOMEN HAVE MONEY, THEY BELIEVE THEY DO NOT NEED MEN, BUT WHEN MEN HAVE MONEY, THEY GO IN SEARCH OF WOMEN OR FAMILY.

WHEN A SNAKE BITES YOU, NEVER CHASE IT FOR EXPLANATION OR REVENGE UNTIL YOU HAVE FIRST TREATED YOURSELF FROM THE VENOM PROPERLY

THE BEST REVENGE IS SUCCESS(meaning get richer, own your own business, find a better loyal lady who is 1000% better than your ex and marry her)

FORGIVE BUT NEVER FORGET

CONVERT THE PAIN TO DETERMINATION TO BE A GREAT SUCCESS..... CHANGE ENVIRONMENT.... EVEN IF YOU NEED TO FIND A BETTER JOB.

Is it about getting Richer after a breakup? Even if you're Dangote, these girls will still cheat on you.
