RomanceShould One Date An Undergraduate? by Mitchelin(op): 6:19pm On Jul 14, 2009
I'm posting this topic as a result of virtually endless summons I've had from friends, male that is as regards their relationships and stuff. The case: A fella going out with a lady still in her sophomore year or whatever. He's busy at work or whatever he does to make ends meet and sees her occasionally, more often than not they are not in the same town, she may be schooling far away. My take on the issue is that the ladies are hardly trust worthy which I understand, cos they really have to allow the institution pass through them, it aint easy turning a blind eye to all the fun you can avail yourself by virtue of being in school, so the thought of a so called fiancee or boyfriend or whatever who's many miles away and sometimes in the same city trying to knock your hustle doesn't come as quite a palatable delicacy to the palate. End of story, accusations and counter accusations, guys you know where I'm coming from, so I keep arbitrating and end up the enemy most times cos I tell it like it is, let the lady go do her thing!, you are not an undergraduate and busy making a living, go date someone do does same, granted there are exceptions, but even the so called christian sisters are in the take also, what with the funky campus fellowships we have with even more funky parent church bodies there are a whole lot of campmeetings, student conferences, and student ecumenical conclaves which affords our christian sister to just happen to meet a dignified christian brother, and out goes bro. Samuel, whio works in a bank and just happens to be the head usher in the parent church.
So I tell em, let like meet with like, leave the campus girls alone with their male contemporaries, at least they understand each other, should they end up getting married after school fine, cos I know this, should a well informed youngster in school decide to go after your so called priceless jewel, well,it takes the grace of God,for her not to give in, why?, you aint there to take her mind off of him, and oh yes! the calls aint enough so kill that noise!, you just have to be there! period, I know a lot of guys are under this yoke right now, fellas yáll know I'm telling the truth, save yourselves the heartache,do not 100% give her ur heart when she's still in school and if she's the pretty type you are finished! After the club boy are done with her,in comes the lecturer with a larger than life libido. All this goes down save she's very ugly, yeah!, even the average looking ones cheat too, there's someone for everyone, come to think of it, her looks don't matter, guys can be merciless, she'll be had for the heck of it!
Need I mention the risk she faces from the so called aristos, so as you can see fellas it isn't just her course mates and fellow students that you have to contend with but the shameless politicians and randy husbands and recalcitrant playboys who are stacked to the teeth, they come cruising in in their fancy cars, wave some cheddar and tah dah!, she's gone. Now if you do not know about her cheating waysit's all good (ignorance is surely a blessing in this case),but somehow misery takes delight in exposing its source,so like we all know you'd eventually hear stories someday and my cell rings and the tale begins, another meeting again for the same ole cause, a working bachelor dating an undergrad. What's ur take on this people, I apologise for the epistle just wanted to come clear.
RomanceRe: Someone Should Pls Tell Me If She Loves Me! by Mitchelin(m): 5:42pm On Jul 14, 2009
naijachix:
search ur hrt and be sure of what u want. she obviously is not ready for a serious relationship.
In addition to this I'd say that categorically you needn't continue with the relationship, a lady getting all worked up over transportation fare, the fact that she displayed such shameless demeanour after her so called apologies negates the intent of such apologies in the first instance, she never really meant it, whatever or whomevershe had been clinging to while in school that made her behaviour towards you change all of a sudden has suddenly disappeared or she's no longer sure of her stand as regards what informed her behaviour towards you and like nearly all ladies would do she has come back as she's afraid of losing out totally, I tell you this, should things right themselves again with whomever she's shacking up with in school, you'd be tossed out at the drop of a hat.

xoxoxo:
dean koontz is the master of horror, hands down
I beg to differ, like I said in my post, supernatural, evil, not science fiction, I've read almost all Dean Koonts and most of his books possesse a single theme, Genetic experiments on humans or animals or whatever gone wrong, that to me is terror, not horror.

True true, lovely music rock, Nickleback is a tight group (Chad Kroeger is an exceptional vocalist),but you'd be doing well to check out these songs:
Africa, performed by Toto,Room In Your Heart by Living In A Box,I've Been In Love Before by Cutting Crew,The Last Unicorn By America,Don't You Love Me Anymore? by Joe Cocker, lemme stop here, but I guarantee you this, the above songs can't go wrong, happy listening.
Music/RadioRe: Aren't No Rock, Grunge, Heavy Metal Fans In Lagos by Mitchelin(m): 7:56pm On Jul 02, 2009
I have been searching and searching and so far i havn't found any1, not a single genuine rocker who is into HEAVY METAL, POST GRUNGE, ALTERNATIVE ROCK sub-genres. Some one whose not a Miss. Jones conformist that's sick of nigeria shit music but who loves and appreciate not only western hard core rap and pop music but who also listens to the like my favourite below:

ADEMA
AVENGED SEVENFOLD
BREAKING BENJAMIN
CROSSFADE
DEFTONES
DISTURBED
DRY CELL
EVANESCENCE
GODHEAD
KORN
LINKIN PARK
ORGY
PAPA ROACH
SLIP KNOT
STATIC - X
SYSTEM OF A DOWN
THREE DAYS GRACE
Aint nothing wrong with you seeking your kind, but the shitty Nigeria music remark wasn't called for don't you think? each man to his own,
furthermore, for non rock disciples, there are different genre of rock, soft rock which is real mellow and soothing with one of the best romantic lyrics is worth experiencing, but the songs of Black Metal Bands and certain Heavy Metal and Satan Rock groups (not my invention the name I mean,,,it is a recent genre in rock,,,check it out!) is quite something else entirely, I kind of find it hard to see any good coming out of songs that glorify vampirism, nihilism, and extreme gnosticism cum hedonism, but the like I said earlier each man to his own eh?
Music/RadioRe: 2face Booed Off The Stage For Performing His Old Songs In Abuja by Mitchelin(m): 7:27pm On Jul 02, 2009
Bamsyle, said it all, while giving every artiste his/her due,I'd say 2face stands out as an artiste that has cut through the mainstream, the fact that he's developing by being creative in the unstoppable cd (which by the way for me is his best effort yet) and not allegedly pushing units doesn't make him any less better.
Do you really wanna know the real reason the unstoppable cd is not allegedly doing so good in the market, from my point of view that is?,,,the answer is simple, the Nigerian populace wants something with a bangable beat, read, party like beat, and 2faces's recent effort didn't provide much of those if it did at all (enter the place was an attempt at that).
Listen, while I give kudos to every artiste as I know it's not easy to be creative, I'd like for them to work more on their lyrics, lawd,at the risk of being castigated,I'd say majority of Nigerian artiste out there owe their success to the Producers!!! if the artiste could work as hard in his composition as the producer in his beats then wow! Nigeria would be the country to beat in the musical entertainment genre.
If I must be frank we just party to very very dope beats from producers such as Don Jazzy,I.D Cabasa,Terry G,K-Solo,M-I,OJB et al interlaced with very weak lyrics, infact the some of the Nigerian artiste specialize in making sure they have catchy hooks as they have discovered that this plus a dope beat is the key that unlocks the door of commercial success and instant stardom, well,I no go blame dem as na wetin they sell na im person dey shade for store o!

TravelOnline Dv Lottery Status Confirmation by Mitchelin(op): 1:20pm On Jul 02, 2009
Has anyone used the online facility at dvlootery.sate.gov to check for the result of the dv2010 visa lottery programme?
I tried inputing my confirmation number which comprises 16 letters cum numbers with the 2010 prefix but the query I got at the end is that my confirmation number is incorrect. On closer examination I noticed that the last number was not there,so I typed it in,but it wouldn't appear as a result of the fact that the number of characters allocated to the confirmation number field has reached its maximum, which after I counted was 15. But the confirmation number is 16!
I checked out the format guide and it was something like this, 2010xxxxxxxxxxxx,i.e all numbers must have the 2010 prefix and 14 other combination of letters and numbers which makes 16,but they provided a 15 max, character field in the confirmation number slot!, is there anything I'm doing wrong please, can anyone comment on this or try theirs out, thanks.
LiteratureRe: Naija And Foreign Authors by Mitchelin(m): 12:51pm On Jul 02, 2009
The Joan missus said it all, finished writing a book, but I'm skeptical to the heavens of even publishing, if I publish in Nigeria, despite the piracy, the book still ends up with a poorly finished exterior and stuff, so poor, gotta bid my time andhope for the best.
LiteratureWho Ranks As Your Best Horror Writer? by Mitchelin(op): 12:40pm On Jul 02, 2009
I'm not including names as I understand that there are a lot of authors out there, just chip in with ur favourite author, and a book of his that really blew ur mind or better yet scared you out of your mind, and when I say horror, I MEAN horror, not thrillers with a twist of the sardonic nor science fiction with a touch of the macabre, but real horror books with supernatural contents, you know the works, as evil as a book can be!!!

LiteratureRe: Your Best Genre In Literature: Prose, Drama, Poetry, Short-story, Etc? by Mitchelin(m): 12:13pm On Jul 02, 2009
Definitely prose and poetry in that order. Drama is pretty cool too, especially old Nigerian dramas such as Zulu Sofola's wedlock of the gods, now that's drama took part in it wayback in high school. As regards it being boring,I'd say I understand ur plight as most western dramas can be a bit "overwhelming"what with all the archaic english and whatnots, but if one can ail through thse hurdles, then drama becomes quite an experience.
I do love short stories als, kinda staight to the point, you know.
LiteratureRe: Which Genre Of Literature Is Fast Going Into Extinction? by Mitchelin(m): 12:05pm On Jul 02, 2009
I'd say drama as a genre is an endangered specie, at first I thought it was just a Nigerian phenomenon, but I mthink worlwide the same thing obtains though to a lesser degree. Theatre is still a big part of western culture, a real huge facet, but in the same vein we have more people queing up outside cinemas and movie houses than a venue for a play that's debuting.
Close in tow in my own view is short stories, come to think of it I think it ought to come as first. Most writers just don't do short stories anymore, at least writers that are doyens in the art.
Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: Wat Can I Do by Mitchelin(m): 3:00am On Jun 30, 2009
I understand your plight, and from my own point of few I'd say this: you could tackle the situation in several ways, one of the advantages of being broke and single is that it affords you the opportunity to really know if a girl loves you (if you are in a relationship) or if there is the likelihood of getting that particular girly ou have your eyes set on (I know you do have a girl in mind when you posted this article) as 99.9999, 999% of girls won't pitch their tent with a broke ass.
So,you could just let the girl thing slide for now, ok, concentrate on getting fixed up with a job irrespective of the cadre, there's always time to grow. I think you have enough on your plate by virtue of your joblessness already to be bothering yourself with girl issues, as that is a whole different ball game altogether.
But if you must have a girl, please and please come clean about your financial state, save you are in for a fling which I don't think is your intention. It's better to let her know from the outset than letting her see through your flimsy lies when you become as thick as thieves. Wishing you the best pal.

Let him that hath ears harken to what the spirit is saying to the soul, and this words mind you are not from a demon chasing, bible toting tyrant. I rest my case.
RomanceRe: Can U Date A Guy That Has Nothing To Offer. by Mitchelin(m): 12:50am On Jun 27, 2009
Pretty interesting post, well well well, being the pragmatic type I'm with a twist of the eternal optimist,I dare say this, it's all so easy to wax philosophical out here, but being in that position is a different ball game. Le's say it like it is, 99.99% of women won't date a broke ass guy simple.
Don't crucify me yet, hear me out, now for you to candidly beat your chest and say you belong to the point 1% left, ask urself this, while dating this broke ass, were you 100% faithful, no side bets and stuff, of course you say you've the other man as a financial cushion, you say Mr.broke ass is the one you really love, and as long as he's not aware then everything is honky dory, to me, you can't belong to the point one percentile.
If on the other hand you stick by him come sunshine and rain, just him alone, then I must hand it to you.
Again another scenario, how beautiful is she?, some ladies have no choice but to hang out there courtesy of their anatomical build up and physiological leaning, catch my drift eh?, an ugly duckling really has no say or recourse but to hang out with a guy benevolent enough to be dating her now does she? But if on the other hand she is a stunner,a looker and she keeps holding it down with our penniless bro then I got to hand it to her, that to me is the litmus test in a situation like this, beautiful lady with a broke average looking dude, which brings me to the third consideration, what he looks like!
If he is a hunk, then most ladies would see his being broke as the alternative forgone, in fact they would spend their cash on him to bring him up to par with the preconcieved idea of what an ideal man should look like. No spurn intended, but ladies you know you love showing off with your men now dont ya, so consider these factors before taking sides, gotta stop here, beginning to look like an epistle!
RomanceRe: Who Would You Marry; Someone You Love More Or Someone That Loves You More? by Mitchelin(m): 12:23am On Jun 27, 2009
Rule of thumb: Marry someone who loves you more, just look at it like an insurance policy!
Might sound selfish and narcissistic, but then the world is all effed up,you want peace of mind in that relationship, he/she has to bring in a 150% to your 100%, this way you get to sleep better at night, which it were different, but that's just the way it is,somethings will never change, charge that to Bruce Hornsby.

RomanceAre There Really Ladies Who Don't Consider The Money And/or Looks Angle? by Mitchelin(op): 10:14pm On Jun 26, 2009
I'd qualify the ladies bit by saying beautiful ladies as I realize a plain jane may have no choice in this regard. I keep wondering about the whole fairy tale romance stuff, what's the take ladies, can you with all the beauty you possess date a regular joe?
I know this issue may have been beaten to a pulp, but the beautiful lady angle I think has not been really deliberated on.

If u werent married, i would hv said no big deal since no guy can say he wants to marry a gal on their first date. But u r married and single guys like myself feel cheated when u deprive us the company of single chics. You see, we cant go after married ladies and the single ones are being gradually coerced by the married guys. Life harsh ooo.
