In some schools, yes

In these days of saturated labour market, It is very important that you study courses that are versatile or in demand so that your chances of getting a good job or standing alone as a consultant is brighter.

These are the courses that are most widespread in terms of need and application in almost all the industry - banks, construction, financial services, oil and gas, food & beverages, research, manufacturing, steel, power, etc. Just name it. They may not necessarily be the highest paying but they needed in almost all industries. You will most likely find these professionals there:

1) Computer science / ICT

2) Electrical Engineering

3) Mechanical Engineering

4) Accounting

5) Nursing ( most notable firms in Nigeria have clinics which require the services of a nurse as a minimum)

6) HSE (Health, Safety and Environment)

7) Law

These are the ones I know. You can add yours and let the house confirm it.

If there is merit to every criticism what then? He should keep shut and only select some so he isn't a 'wailer'? If you can't even spare the time to counter what he says but u just throw it all in the bin because it is Barcanista and crew how does that help? How do u even say that he criticises every policy? What policy is even in place? Can u clearly identify fiscal and external/foreign policies of a government already more than 2 months old? A sincere and objective critic wil have a change of heart if he is met with more convincing arguments and reasoning not from name-calling! So where is that? If u can't take the time to discredit his issues or criticisms why do u think attacking his person will serve any purpose?

You have a problem with GEJ, that's up to you and frankly, his leadership left a lot to be desired and mostly because he was sabotaged but still the buck stopped at his table as President. Still u don't get to brand them as persons not wanting Nigeria to succeed when the issues raised by them have not been addressed. You don't get to sweep genuine concerns under the carpet and call them inconsequential because they supported another candidate from another political party. We run a multi- and not mono-party system in Nigeria and freedom of association and political affiliation is still a constitutional right.

One o the greatest deception that GEJ addicts have imposed on us is that GEJ failed beacuse he was sabotaged. That's a lie from the pit of hell. Believe me, Nigerians are wise enough to know a patriotic leader. GEJ made bad choices out of bad intention. for a patriotic leader, why did he close his eyes on all the corruption going on in his govt but instead chose yo fire the whistle blower in the person of Sanusi. When the immigration test scam happened, who was punished? I can go on and on. GEJ was never patriotic and he was clearly an enemy of the state.

People supported GEJ mainly on sentimental grounds, not on the basis of merit.

I repeat, a genuine lover of Nigeria will be cautious abt freely supporting and defending GEJ.

Well, I am not a supporter of Barcanista but I respect his depth o knowledge and clinical analysis here, even though he ignores some facts and twist others inorder to serve his purpose. Overall, we need a good opposition and he is doing just that.

On a personal note, I take exception to what kenny987 said that Barcanista and his ilks want Nigeria to succeed. I personally still find it hard to fathom how someone who wants Nigeria to remain united and successful will support GEJ. GEJ was one of the worst leaders we have ever had, sentiments aside. To make matters worse, he switched camp from APC to PDP just to support GEJ. There is more to it than meet the eye.

I will however implore him to remain in the opposition too keep APC on their toes.

Barcanista's threads are sometimes (not always) misleading but are well researched.
He is probably in the top 15 posters of all time in the Nairaland politics section, and may as well end up as No 1 if he continues at this thread.
Thumbs up, barca. You are doing a good job. we need a good opposition to enable the PMB administration to thrive and deliver.

Whoever remembered Beaf? He was a one-man soilder who took took his blind support of GEJ to impeccable heights. He ruffled the feathers of the then opposition (ACN/CPC/ANPP) with his solid and almost convincing threads, arguments/counterarguments and debates.
He played a great role in rallying support for GEJ despite the heavy opposition on Nairaland. He is no longer active here. He was sooo popular in the politics section

Barcanista is the new beaf. You will hardly open a thread in the politics section without his name not been mentioned. Despite the heavy and intimidating popularity of PMB here, he has been able to play the role of an opposition very vey effectively with his vast and deep knowledge of socio/political/economic issues in Nigeria and the world at large. He does a good research before coming out with his threads.

However, he is an unstable personality as he decamped from APC to PDP just days before the election. His arguments are also sometimes skewed in his desperate attempts to malign PMB at all cost. overall, he is a mature personality.

Well....not so unusual. Some people live and sleep on Nairaland. You will know them with time. It may just be an indication that some people do not have a life outside Nairaland (not necessarily true in all cases oo)
