They know that the money will stop flowing if foreign students are banned from bringing their families. That's $50 billion sucked out of the dwindling UK economy. 3 Likes |

ajimo54: America is extremely flawed, incredibly so. Full blown capitalism will not lead anyone out of poverty. The Americans did not rely solely upon capitalism, geographical expansion by way of warfare and interfering in the foreign affairs is not 'capitalism', that's theft and armed robbery. Not paying labor is not 'capitalism', that's wage theft, at best. Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE have all progressed with heavy government involvement. |

Etranshub: Why would anything in government be well run when every contract and every appointment is a favor being repaid, or an act of appeasement. Until Nigeria gets into the habit of putting those in positions of power with the ability to think and behave with the best interests of the whole nation at large the status quo will continue. Additionally, Nigerians have to stop thinking about government as some abstract entity and realize that it is the people coming together to fix their issues. It is not one person or group helping themselves to state funds. |

ajimo54: America is an anomaly built on the backs of African slaves and land stolen from native Americans. That's a bad example. Nigeria is an example of how flawed capitalism is. The native rulers of this area were largely useless and self destructive and that behavior has continued until now. |

Etranshub: The problem is that governments are a reflection of people. Whether public or private owned many of these projects will continue to be a mess. Look at this Dangote refinery that is already long overdue and above budget - where are the promised efficiencies? Eko Atlantic - private equity driven but as of yet nothing of note is happening there. Another overblown, overpriced, delayed project. Take an honest look at many of the banks in Nigeria. Are they government run? Is that why they operate in such a disgraceful manner? Do you not see the problem? It's not public or private it's competent and incompetent. Dishonest and honest. |

ajimo54: China rose to become the second biggest economy in the world by way of public sector owned business. European economic success was built upon state owned entities. |

Depends on who is in government. What checks and balances are there against unscrupulous actors. In other parts of the world government entities thrive, employ millions and even make a profit. In Africa government is seen as a means to self enrichment to the detriment of the majoriyt, often by loud, Bible thumping hypocrites. |

Battery powered buses in that heat is asking for trouble. I hope the fire service is ready to put in real work, those buses do not like extreme weather. |

Anyone expecting the king of Nigerian corruption to tackle corruption is a drunkard. At best, Tinubu will sell Nigerian government assets to his cronies (and himself). At best. 3 Likes |

Praxis758: The nature of Islam is to make it impossible to separate it from culture and daily activities. Hence why they demand that adherents stop and pray 5 times daily and then fast for often. It's so that the people know they are slaves to another. It is evil. |

Nigeria is what happens when people breed for the sake of doing so with no idea on how to raise human beings or provide even the basics of the 21st century. I don't blame the youths but the useless people who gave birth to and then raised them. To all the people who defend the nonsense that is the culture. To all the religious leaders who fill the heads of the people with hogwash. To the political leaders who are put a symptom of the foolish people. Eventually you will all perish and good riddance. A more stupid group of people is yet to be seen. 3 Likes |
