Dear Mr Seun, I didn't want to go down the battle lane but unfortunately for us, it seems that's what you want. I created this topic (https://www.nairaland.com/2458030/islamic-badge-profile) so that you would remove the "Islamic" badge on my profile and the best he could tell me was You should not be ashamed of your faith, sir. You knewI never denied I clicked yes. All I'm saying is, I don't want it. I never knew it would look like that. Besides, who said I'm ashamed of my faith? Do Christians, athiests and people of other religions have a badge on their profile? So why Muslims? And how does putting that "Islamic" badge on my profile make me a better Muslim? How does it guarantee me a place in heaven? Or what pride is there in people opening your profile and seeing that? Please and please, this Nazi attempt at demonizing Muslims and Islam is what I would not take. If other Muslims are proud of having that badge on their profile, that's their problem. I'm not proud of having it on my profile and that has nothing to do with being ashamed of my religion. I find it defamatory, irritating, downgrading, insultive, ridiculous and unnecessary. I equate it with the Nazis forcing the Jews to wear the yellow badge before and during World War II. Or what exactly is the rationale behind it? To ridicule Muslims? To show that Islam is superior to other religions? To stop non-Muslims from commenting on Muslim threads? I want the badge removed and after its removal, I promise never to go to the Islam for Muslims sub-forum again. I won't even read their posts when it makes front page. I have other Islamic websites I visit to learn about Islam and I would just continue visiting them. They don't give me badges when I visit or comment. PS: I know you'll most likely react aggressively to this. You're free to ban me. You did that two or three years ago when I gave a suggestion in the writing/literature section, so I won't be surprised if you did that again. It's your forum and you can do as you wish. Cc: Seun |
Hello! A topic from the Islam for Muslims section made front page. And when I wanted to leave a comment, I was met by this "are you a Muslim? If you are, click yes and it would appear on your profile". I clicked "yes" and true to it, it is now on my profile. Note: I'm not sure if one can comment if one clicked no so I clicked yes. Although I'm a Muslim, I find this offensive and I liken it to the yellow badge given to the Jews by the Germans before and during world war ii. How can my profile on an online forum be have a I "believe that there is no god/God but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet." How? I don't know what led to this and I don't know why, but I don't want. I would rather leave this forum than have a badge follow me up and down. Even as I'm typing this, I'm so irritated. Please the moderators, super-moderators and admin should look into this and remove it from my profile. Thank you. Nairaland.com/mobsync Cc: Seun, lalasticlala Please na beg I beg o. |
I pray for you. |
heykims:This is my last comment to any of your post. |
heykims:All the questions you asked have already been answered in my post. So why asking again? And about me closing and abandoning my account, I'll do that if the clause isn't removed. I've been a member since November 29, 2009, so this account means a lot to me. Finally, considering the way you speak, it's not surprising why non-Muslims dislike Muslims. Nevertheless, tell Maclatunji to help me remove the clause. Tell him I said "please." And if you like, speak to him harshly. |
Kingharzyz:I am. My comment was even to an atheist who said we Muslims should shop deceiving ourselves that the moon never disappeared. I simply told him we never said the moon disappeared and he doesn't understand how moon sighting works. Besides, are non-Muslims forbidden from posting replies in this section? And are Muslims forbidden from posting replies on Christian threads? |
Hello! A topic from this section made front page. And when I wanted to leave a comment, I was met by this "are you a Muslim? Misanthrope:No one ever said the moon disappeared. It's obvious you don't understand how moon sighting works. |
HungerBAD:You have a very valid point. But then, the question is; would you allow your son to marry a man? Would you be happy if your brother married a man? How would you feel if your father divorced your mother and then married a man to be your step-mother? Would you be proud to point to your father and say "that's my father" and then point to the man beside him and say "that's my mother?" You might feel you are not affected but then, you are. Everybody is affected. Even if you don't marry a man, how would you explain it to your children that the two "uncles" living in the neighbourhood are husband and wife? The bottom line is: a man should marry a woman and vice-versa. If all men married men and all women married women, we all could have never been born. PS: i hope you do not take offence in me mentioning your father, divorce and son. I only wanted to drive home my point. |
magabounce:What does the exam look like. What time of questions were you asked? Politics? Defence? Security? |
pus23:And when are you going to outgrow this your Independent country of the Kingdom of Western Nigeria nonsense? |
ziky2010:That's true. They are the thieves, hooligans and the likes. Many of them take to robbery so that they can "runs" new admission. Some also go into "full-time" Internet fraud. I used to know several of them. Morning, afternoon, evening, night; they are always at home. |

zendy:Kur Muhammed was hardly mentioned in many of my sources save one which said he alongside several others were overlooked over Gowon.Nevertheless, all the sources I consulted agreed that the coup was launched by disgruntled Hausa soldiers and Gowon was not involved. But then, Gowon was not chosen because of his seniority (although it could be a factor). The major reason he was chosen because the northern soldiers involved did not want it to look like a northern coup. They initially wanted to separate the north from the soth but considering the fact that, they would have a hard time surviving, they had a rethink. |
Volksfuhrer:That's true. Murtala and the likes initially wanted to separate the country after teaching the Ibos a "lesson" with the counter-coup. |
zendy:Gowon actually got there by chance. He wasn't the best candidate for the post. Shuwa, Murtala Muhammed and several others were all Lieutenant-Colonels alongside Gowon. Infact, Kur Muhammed was a full Colonel. Gowon was chosen because the coup plotters did not want the coup to be seen as an Hausa coup since the first coup was already seen as an Igbo coup. Gowon was a Christian and wasn't a core northerner. Two factors that led to him been chosen as the preferred candidate. Secondly, Onwuatuegwu was in Lagos while the coup was on. He commanded a group of Igbo soldiers whose mission was to kill any top military commander they could lay their hands on. There are reports however that he fled to the north after the coup failed and possibly held control of the north along with Kaduna Nzeogwu for some weeks. |
SUBMARINE:Let's not go down that line. Please don't turn this thread into one for tribal, ethnic, religious or political bashings. There are several other threads you can do that. |
1. The Republic of Biafra actually had two presidents. The first was Odumegwu Ojukwu. The second was Obong Philip Ewing who was in office from January 8 till January 12, 1970, after Ojukwu had fled the country. 2. The Republic of Benin* is the shortest independent country in the world. It was created in the then Mid-Western region, Nigeria, by the Biafran government on September 19, 1967. It lasted till September 20, 1967, when it was captured by Nigerian troops. *The Republic of Benin should not be confused with the West African country: Benin Republic, which is also called the Republic of Benin. During the Nigerian civil war, Benin Republic was officially known as the Republic of Dahomey. 3. Contrary to popular belief, the coup of January 15-16, 1966, was not executed by Major-General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi. It was executed by five Army majors (four Igbos and one Yoruba): Kaduna Nzeogwu, Timothy Onwuatuegwu, Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Chris Anuforo and Adewale Ademoyega. Emmanuel Ifeajuna was the leader and not Nzeogwu as some people claim. Aguyi-Ironsi only came into power because he was the highest ranking military officer in Nigeria after the coup failed. 4. The January 1966 coup was actually half-successful. Kaduna Nzeogwu was able to capture the north but Timothy Onwuatuegwu was unable to capture the south. Kaduna controlled northern Nigeria for several weeks while Aguiyi-Ironsi controlled southern Nigeria. 5. General Yakubu Gowon is a Christian from the Ngas tribe (also called Angas), based in Lur village, Plateau State. He was chosen as president of Nigeria after the counter-coup of 1966 which was led by northern soldiers. Gowon was chosen because he was neither an Hausa, Fulani or Muslim. The coupists did not want it to look like northern coup. 6. Before the coup of 1966, Major Kaduna Nzeogwu often led some soldiers on a training excercise close to the house of the premier of the north: Sir Ahmadu Bello. The training exercise, codenamed "Excercise Damisa," was actually a dry run to the impending coup. On the day of the coup, Nzeogwu personally threw the grenade that destroyed Sir Ahmadu Bello's gate. 7. Nobel laureate: professor Wole Soyinka, visited Odumegwu Ojukwu in August 1967, so they could discuss how to avert the war. This angered Yakubu Gowon who had him detained for almost two years. 8. Emmanuel Ifeajuna later fought for Biafra during the Civil War. He was arrested and executed at the orders of Ojukwu who believed he was negotiating a ceasefire with Nigeria and was also trying to overthrow him. 9. During the counter coup of 1966 that brought Yakubu Gowon into power; Buka Suka Dimka, who later killed Murtala Muhammed in the botched 1976 coup, tried killing his Brigade Major: Samuel Ogbemudia, because he detained him for deploying soldiers without authorization. Dimka conscripted some northern soldiers who chased Ogbemudia all the way from Kaduna to Owo, Ondo state. Both sides exchanged gunfire during the chase which only ended when Ogbemudia's Land Rover ran out of fuel and he escaped into the jungle. 10. The famous 3rd Marine Commandos headed by Colonel Benjamin Adekunle and later Olusegun Obasanjo, was originally named the 3rd Infantry Division. Without approval from Army headquarters, Colonel Benjamin Adekunle changed the name to 3rd Marine Commandos because he felt the 3rd Infantry Division did not really project the unique, difficult and dangerous terrain the division was operating. Today, the 3rd Infantry Division is based in Jos, Plateau state. It has been renamed the 3rd Armored Division. The road actually passes through three floors in the building. It does not rest on the building and the building does not rest on it. The road was made after the government and the building owners could not reach an initial agreement. The government wanted to destroy the building for the highway and the owners disagreed. was with Nzeogwu in Kaduna during the coup, he was never part of the southern operations. Also, Lt colonel Yakubu Gowon was chosen as Military head of state because he was the highest ranking "northerner" at the time. Ogundipe, Nwawo , Effiong, Njoku, Imo, Ejoor, Adebayor and Ojukwu were all senior to Gowon but they were all by-passed because they were from the south.
