Good day, Nairalanders. In this post, I am going to be comparing the public bus system in Canada (Toronto) and that of Lagos state Nigeria with pictures. N.B: I am not talking about danfo's in Lagos state just the BRT
picture 1 & 2 The bus stop in Canada and Nigeria respectively. That is where we go to board the bus to any location just like the Lagos state BRT bus. The major difference I noticed between Nigeria's own and Canada's own is the availability of chairs for passengers to sit in while waiting for the bus. I rate Canada 9/10; while Lagos 6.5/10
picture 3 & 4 both Canada and Nigeria use our smart card to board the bus. In Lagos, it is called the cowry card, whilst that of Canada is called the presto card I give Lagos 7/10 and Canada 8/10
The bus. It is similar to that of Lagos, when we board in we have to tap our presto card. The only difference is that the bus in Canada is now as rowdy as that of Lagos. As we know people in Lagos are always in a hurry.
Hello everyone my name is Adawihat l am currently living in Toronto Canada and in today post l would talk about places to visit in Canada (Toronto) and you will enjoy here are the places to visit that l have visit.
Niagara Falls, Ontario, is a Canadian city at the famous waterfalls of the same name, linked with the U.S. by the Rainbow Bridge
The Toronto Islands are a chain of 15 small islands in Lake Ontario, south of mainland Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Comprising the only group of islands in the western part of Lake Ontario
The Canada cn tower is located in downtown Toronto which has so many amazing entertaining and dining destinations for any visiting Toronto
Canada museum is a history place where it show different art work of people across the world
Wasaga beach is located in Toronto and it really amazing for relaxing and for everyone
Animal zoo this is located in Toronto ontario and it has different animal over there and people really enjoy going
Hello, everyone, today's video I am going to show you how the lockdown is over here in Canada and most places are close only the essential workers that are working such as the nurse, doctor and the grocery store.
I was literally just bored today and I wanted to show how obedient and complying Canadians are. Unlike Nigerians where the majority of them still gathered in droves to celebrate Christmas without the fear of covid 19
1) the Health care system: Truth be told the health care system is truly organised. The medical practitioners are well trained over here in Canada (I am not saying we have quacks in Nigeria.) They would give you your full service because you have paid for it in your tax. Giving birth in Canada is free and some other treatments. All you need is to go to the hospital with your health card and you would be treated.
2) consistent power supply: In Canada, we have 24 hours supply and it is really amazing. In Canada, if the weather affects the cable and there is any damage, within the space of 10 mins everything would be restored and you would get your electricity back.
3) Less traffic congestion and good roads: The traffic is so organised, it is not like Lagos that you can just flout the traffic rules and nothing grave would happen
4) Diversity: in Canada we have people from all over the world living here Namely; Indians, Chinese, Nigerians, Ghanaians. Just name any nation in the world and you would find at least someone from that nation.
5) Equal opportunities for everyone: Yes! Canada is the land of opportunity for everybody. In Canada, no one cares your tribe, the colour of your skin or whatever barrier. It is easy to start up a business in Canada as far as it is legal.
6) the weather: I am sure many of you would actually be shocked We have four seasons in Canada we have the winter, fall, spring and summer. It does not snow all the time, so forget your misconception about Canada. During the summer you can visit the tourist centres in Canada
7) the landscape is beautiful: Especially during the summer period. you can see the beautiful nature of the landscape
8 ) jobs and payments: Over here in Canada there are different ways you can get a job, once you are done with your schooling you can get a job through LinkedIn and other various job websites. we get paid every two weeks which is beautiful, Unlike Nigeria in which you would have to wait till the end of the month to get paid.
9) Transportation: The transportation here in Canada is very well organised. Here in Toronto, we have this type of bus (like the BRT). if you want to take the bus you are going to get a presto card You would tap the card to the machine for every two hours. You do not need to pay for the next bus if it is within those two hours span. we have a uber, lift and other means of transportation.
10) The food: They have poutine ( which is basically fries covered with gravy), they also have very good culture
As the topic says. I would be giving you 10 reasons why Nigeria is better than Canada. I think I have enough experience to talk about this topic because I’ve lived in both countries. N.B: all what I’m going to be talking about is going to be from my personal experience.
1. Schools are generally cheaper in Nigeria unlike Canada. : in Nigeria schooling is highly subsidised unlike Canada where we pay thousands of Canadian dollars per semester. As an international student in Canada you are most likely to pay 15k while local students are to pay 3k and most are financed by student loans which they have to pay back over the years 2. Electricity is cheaper in Nigeria than in Canada: in Nigeria we buy electricity for 44 naira per kilo watts while in Canada you know how expensive it is and we would still pay tax again. In Canada I use 80CAD for electricity a month and I’d pay extra 13% on it
3. Healthcare is cheaper in Nigeria than in Canada : I know many people would be saying it’s free in Canada; no it’s not true because we all have health insurance which we pay for. Unlike in Nigeria where the government has totally subsidised it. We still pay out of our own money in case you do not know
4. You can never feel lonely in Nigeria unlike Canada: Nigeria is fun to be in because it’s the culture we grew up with. When you come over to Canada, it would not be easy to get used to their culture as it might seem strange to you
5. The weather in Nigeria is better than that of Canada: Nigeria has very good weather unlike that of Canada which could be extremely cold as Bleep.
6. The price of petrol in Nigeria is cheaper than in Canada: in Nigeria you can use 5000 naira fuel in a week, but in Canada you can use 100 CAD worth of fuel in a week
7. Getting African food is cheaper in Nigeria than Canada: you don’t need a prophet to tell you about this. It easier to get your traditional food in Nigeria than Canada. You can buy garri for like 12CAD.
8. Accommodation is far cheaper in Nigeria unlike Canada: in Nigeria you can see a good accommodation of 3bed room for 500k per year; while in Canada you’d see a one bedroom for 800CAD / month
9. Data is cheap in Nigeria unlike Canada: in Nigeria you can get a gig for like 500 naira, while in Canada I spend close to 45CAD monthly to call and use the internet
10. Finally, it is easier to bargain in Nigeria than Canada. In Canada the prices are fixed, but Nigeria we can still beat the price down.

The Akinshemoyin ruling house of Lagos Island has condemned, in strong terms, the looting of the traditional and ancestral heritage of Lagos State and the carting away of the staff of office of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Ridwan Akiolu by hoodlums who invaded the palace on Wednesday.
While describing as shocking and bitter the use of brute force on peace protesters by soldiers at the Lekki Toll gate on Tuesday, the ruling house, in a statement jointly signed by Prince Salami-Abisako and Prince Adeyemi Sarumi said it will not fold its arms and allow miscreants to destroy Lagos State.
The statement reads: “Though we are in total support of the peaceful protest of the Nigerian youths tagged: #EndSARS #EndPoliceBrutality, we, Lagosians condemn with all sense of responsibility the gruesome murder of Nigerians, the hijack of the peaceful protest by hoodlums, destruction of public infrastructural facilities and property across the nation.
“We also condemn the looting of our traditional and ancestral heritage as it relates to the Oba of Lagos Palace; especially the carting away of the staff of office. We will not allow miscreants to destroy our Lagos ‘Onilu Onije Otu’.
“The acts of these elements are sacrilegious, taboo and abomination to the Yoruba race. These nefarious misfits’ conducts could lead to mayhem in the land if not timely checked and tranquility restored.
“We hereby call on the paramount Apena of Oshugbo, Opa, Akala and other traditional heads and custodians to immediately secure the Oba’s palace from further attack(s) in order to save the face of our traditional stool. “The royal house, however called for the return of the stolen staff of authority to be deposited at the Apena of Lagos within 24 hours or the deviants will face the consequences of their action. A word is enough for the wise.”
Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo on Sunday said he would consider it a demotion if invited to become Nigeria’s president.
Oyedepo, during his sermon, said God specifically, in 1984 asked him if he was interested in going top and that he answered in the affirmative.
He said God told him, “Then whatever I tell you to do, do it. Don’t run around: whatever I tell you to do, do it. Don’t muse about: whatever I tell you to do. Don’t do what they do: do what I tell you to do.
“1984! Do you know that’s what led me to say, “I will consider it a demotion…” and I’m saying it again, some are very upset about it, that’s their problem.
“I will consider it a demotion if I were invited to be the President of this great country. It’s a great country, it’s a great honour for anyone to be President but that’s not where I belong. I belong to ‘above all nations,” he said.
The embattled leader of Jama’atu Ahlussunnah Lid Da’awati Wal Jihad otherwise known as Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, has released 11 minutes audio in which he faulted the death sentencing of a man accused of blasphemy in Kano State.
Yahaya Sherif Aminu was sentenced to death by hanging in Kano State for insulting Prophet Muhammad in a song he shared on WhatsApp in March.
“We heard about something sad happening in the state where people think they are Muslims, even though they are practicing disbelief,” Shekau stated.
“A singer opened his mouth and uttered unkind words against the Prophet (PBUH). It was said he was arrested and sentenced to death by hanging.
“According to some people, he can appeal the judgement. But what brought this if the sentence is godly?”
Shekau was saying this because an upper Shari’a court judge who sentenced the singer, Alkali Aliyu Muhammad Kani, said the accused could appeal the verdict within 30 days even though he did not deny the charges.
Shekau claimed that everyone knows that all schools of Islamic jurisprudence opine that whoever insults the Prophet should not be asked to repent.
“He should just be killed. If you really sentenced him, we should only hear that you slaughtered him,” he said.
Shekau added that Kano is not an Islamic State, calling it a land of infidels where democracy is practiced.
“You are not in an Islamic State. You are in the land of infidels. The only exception among you is a weak person who holds ‘Tawhid’ (monotheism). He can’t be declared as an infidel, but he is a sinner because he didn’t migrate.”
The western lifestyle of Kano people itself, according to Abubakar Shekau, is an insult to the Prophet Muhammad.
“Before he insulted the Prophet (PBUH), your lifestyle is an insult itself. Your lifestyle is also blasphemy against the Prophet. How can you say you love someone and you slap him?”
In the audio, Shekau blasted the Kano State for practicing democracy. He said the state allows everyone to do what they like.
Referring to the people of Kano, Shekau said “just because you sit down and recite Quran after you have already done what made you unbelievers? And because you say there is no god but Allah, you think you are Muslims? We tell you, you and the one who insulted the Prophet are all the same.”
This is not the first time a death sentence was passed in Kano State. Abdulaziz Inyass who belong to the extremists in the Tijaniyya Sufi Order is still in detention after he was sentenced to death for blasphemy in 2016.
Abdulaziz was accused of saying that Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass, an influential cleric in West Africa, was ‘bigger than Prophet Muhammad.’
On Air Personality Tolu Oniru populary known as Toolz shared a tweet this morning about one of her staff asking her to transfer her salary to her church.
Toolz said tgat though the staff is free to do whatever she wants that it made her feel a kind of way.
“One of my staff just asked that I transfer her entire salary to her church. She’s free to do what she wants to of course, but it does make me feel some type of way.”
i am not an atheist but i have noticed people tend to lean towards our emotions when trying to defend god. For example, i was having a discussion with some friends of mine and one guy brought up a point that "it is because i have not suffered that is why i am questioning god"
. The Ondo State government has partially relaxed the ban on religious activities in the state to allow Christians in the state to hold Easter Sunday service.
The special Easter service is to however hold between 7am and 12noon on 12th April, 2020 only.
The agreement was reached after an emergency meeting of the Christian Denominational leaders and the state government where it was resolved that members should continue with syndicated services in their houses after the Easter Sunday service.
In the communique signed by the state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Rev Ayo Oladapo, the leaders agreed to monitor compliance, while they agreed “that each Pastor will be held responsible for violation of any of the decisions reached.”
The communique read: “The leaders appreciated the Governor for steps taken so far to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.
“The leaders agreed to adhere to handwashing with soap, water and sanitisers. It was also agreed that social distancing will be maintained.
We also agreed to break services to limit crowd; 20 people in a small Church building, 50 in a medium-size while big and cathedrals must maintain 3 congregants on a pew.
‘It was agreed that services will hold between 7 am and 12noon.
“It was agreed that only Easter Sunday service (12th April 2020) will be observed as agreed between the Governor and the Christian leaders.”
Confirming the development, the state Commissioner of information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogo, noted concerns expressed in many quarters in respect of the matter
He said: “Government deems it necessary to clarify that much as it appreciates public concern over this matter, there is no need for any misgivings.
“Accordingly, the state government has already communicated to the Ondo State Police Command, this concession granted CAN to, as it were, temporise and allow the celebration of Easter Sunday in churches
“This is, however, without prejudice to all precautionary measures and guidelines earlier put in place to contain the spread of the pandemic as enunciated in Government’s earlier statements and as agreed to by the leadership of CAN.
“For emphasis, there will be no Easter Retreat (Good Friday Programmes) or the Jumat service gatherings on Friday or ‘Gallilee’ on Monday. The ban on all social, political and religious gatherings continues afterwards, until further notice.”
Comedian SLK a member of COZA church asks pastor fatoyinbo to clear the air concerning the rape case on an Instagram post
Sir, Coza is not just a church for me, it has become a family. I absolutely love and honour my Pastor(s). You have been like a father to me. I've been taught Christ and I have really grown and am still growing in the knowledge of Christ. I have become a public figure under your fatherly watch and no doubt you have been a blessing to me. I've always been very careful to seek the good of the body of Christ like you taught me this I'm very conscious of. However, this is now beyond a "body of Christ" issue and we ask that it be addressed. For the sake of the society, for the sake of the body of Christ and for the sake of the Coza Family. Please, address it and necessary actions should please be taken. I usually frown at societal ills and hence I would have to stand with not just @busoladakolo But with Humanity as a whole. My name is SLK, a comedian, actor, writer And most importantly a Christian and I would not support Rape.
