nike4luv:
gurlz, is there a special type of face mask for darker skin i.e black skin or do we use the normal once they sell in stores?
~Not that am aware of! Only the Skin Type matters as Different types of skin Do have different requirements

~Oily
~Sensitive
~Dry
~Normal
~Combination
~All Types

Normal Skin Type
Smooth with a bloom, blemish-free, its underlying functions are in balance as the surface is neither greasy nor tight. A rare type these days, it has limited product needs and doesn't take much to keep it in optimum condition.

How to Maintain:
With a 'don't mend it if it isn't broken' approach to skincare - stick with what works for you.

Dry Skin Type
Dry skin equals dehydrated skin. Parched for moisture to restore elasticity, it can look anywhere between dull, grey, flaky and prematurely lined. Skin becomes more dry the older we get and more prone to the effects of external factors. This type's plus points are pores that are fine and the overall texture once restored, can be soft and dewy. Guard against the appearance of tiny veins and dryness flaring into flaking, cracks or worse. Blemishes are exceptional as a rule and their appearance is a severe sign of dryness.

Dry Skin Tip:
Choose your skincare regime with care - the more simple, gentle and organic the better. Avoid stripping skin with abrasive products and don't mix and match ranges. Nourish from the inside out with selenium-rich brazil nuts, soaked almonds, Vitamin E full avocados, salmon and evening primrose capsules. Boost sluggish circulation with aerobic exercise.

Oily Skin Type
Though supple to the touch, this type has a shiny sheen due to over-active production of sebum. Pores are often obvious and blocked with blemishes and blackheads as a result. Note that blackheads can be gently steamed and squeezed out though the large pores will remain. If totally blocked an oil build-up under the surface can occur in acne spots - which to prevent infection and scarring, absolutely must be left alone to heal or treated topically. This type must be monitored but has the advantage of remaining youthful and wrinkle-free the longest.

Though skin is resilient, excess oil must be gently removed or the sebaceous glands will go into further over-activity. You can take mild soaps and natural antiseptic preparations to begin clearing and normalising your skin. Oily Skin Tip: Invest in a specialist, non-comedogenic (non-blocking) skincare brand that's kind to your type - look for ones featuring facial steam bath and mask preparations to draw out impurities. Drink your way to clear skin - still water, antioxidant packed green tea - and eat more carrots and greens.

Combination Skin Type
Perhaps the most common skin type, this can be hard to handle until familiar with its initially dual, needs. It can come in any mix such as normal/combination, dry/combination, normal/dry. The 'secondary' skin condition will arise in certain areas such as an oily 'T' zone or dry cheeks. Depending on your own needs, book a consultation from a recommended skincare range to learn how to manage your skin's juggling act. It may be a case of at the same time activating the skin's natural moisturising processes while regulating the oil content.

Combination Skin Tip: Until skin shows signs of becoming 'at one', you will need to treat the parts separately - careful cleansing of oily sections, moisturising the dry. Consider any lifestyle changes that could be triggering a mixed skin reaction. A more holistic approach could be the key to balance.

Sensitive Skin Type:
This is often a delicate skin condition. It is recognisable by its swift and strong reaction to stimulus - from products to change in circumstance and the seasons. Vulnerable to rashes, allergies, sunburn and blotches, it needs extra protection and bringing back to neutral.

Sensitive Skin Tip:
Avoid 'break out' conditions such as extremes of heat, perfumed cosmetics, known allergens, chemical exposure. If specific triggers aren't known, keep a diary to discover possible irritants. Sensitivity in the form of redness is due to heightened blood flow to the skin's surface. Seek specialist help to redress but lessen aggravation by avoiding extreme conditions and spicy foods.

Any Skin Type Refining Tips
Check out product ingredients used by your usual skincare and cosmetic brand - some may not agree with your skin type, even some natural ones. Some of the usual chemical offenders include propylene glycol - an extraction solvent linked to some allergies; ethanolamines - pH regulators linked with skin irritations and some silicones, by nature synthetic and non-biodegradeable. Something triggering you? Change brands and look for ones dermatologically tested. If you need further advice, see a dermatologist.

It takes around three months for new skincare products to take effect, which ties in with the seasons. Try to change products before the start of a season

~With so many Slangs/Jargons & Abbreviation in Everyday English these days ,i didnt reckon that much people cared how they pronounced words or which word is appropraite to use in different circumstances!Am pleasantly surprised to read your post!

~On words you avoid saying, try breaking them up into smaller chunks. . .{Syllables} in your head before pronouncing. . .It's a key skill that will help you improve greatly as Syllables are the individual sounds that make up a word! Just as it helps in Spelling,it helps in pronouncing too! You wud prolly have noticed it on dictionaries. . . for example

~The "Di"  is pronouced as "DIE"

~Diagnose : Di-- ag-- Nose

~Diagnosis : Di--ag--no--sis

~Diagnosed :
Di--ag--nosed

~Diagnosing: Di--ag--nos--ing

~Diagnoseable : Di--ag--nose--able

~Hypnotize : Hyp --No-- Tize

~The two words you struggle with breaks into 3 syllables, some words break up into 5/6 syllables eg

~University : U--ni--ver--si--ty

~Intercontinental : In--Ter--con--ti--nen--tal

~Here's hoping this helps you confront those words you avoid like the plaque wink

~Unfortunately, the gangsta lifestyle he captured in his music soon overtook his own life. While his celebrity was at its peak, he publicly fought with his rival, the Notorious B.I.G., and there were tensions brewing at Death Row.Even with such conflicts, however,The evnts that will unfold came as an unexpected Shock!

His right lung was removed in emergency surgery and, after six days in a medical coma, he

He was a great poet and his theory on life influenced his fans to a huge extent. He was indeed the Rose That Grew from Concrete, whose ever-successful work couldn't have been more admired and loved.

Tupac was cast in the movie Woo (1998), but was shot five days before principal photography began.

More of his music has been released since his death than was while he was alive.10 albums have been released after his 1996 death; all have gone platinum.
He was voted the 86th Greatest Rock 'n Roll Artist of all time by Rolling Stone.

His 1996 song "Ghetto Gospel" was released in 2005, with some vocals by Elton John, and went to #1 in the UK, despite the fact he had been dead for eight years.

Personal Quotes
"Everybody's at war with different things, I'm at war with my own heart sometimes". In Vibe interview 2/96

"Reality is wrong. Dreams are for real."

"The only thing that comes to a sleeping man is dreams."

"The reason why I could get into acting was because it takes nothing to get out of who I am and go into somebody else."

"I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world."

"I swear, if they hadn't tried to ruin me, I never would have ended up being a rapper. I probably would have been a preacher or something."

"If you walked by a street and you was walking on the concrete and you saw a rose growing from the concrete, even if it had messed up petals and it was a little to the side you would marvel at just seeing a rose grow through concrete. So why is it that when you see some ghetto kid grow out of the dirtiest circumstance and he can talk and he can sit across the room and make you cry, make you laugh, all you can talk about is my dirty rose, my dirty stems and how I am leaning crooked to the side, you can't even see that I've come up from out of that"

Some Facts About Tupac Shakur

~He read for the part of "Bubba" in Forrest Gump (1994).Jim Carrey was his favorite actor. Tupac Was going to play the role of "Malik" in Higher Learning (1995) He Appeared in the Salt-N-Pepa video, "Whatta Man."

~His favorite singer was Prince. He'd cited Prince as an inspiration and sampled his music on the "All Eyez On Me" album. Shakur mentioned in an MTV interview that "he [Prince] loves women like I love women"

~Shakur considered singer Don McClean (best known as the singer/songwriter of the 1972 hit "American Pie"wink and Kate Bush as two influences in his life. Shakur also saw McClean's hit "Vincent" (a tale of painter Vincent Van Gogh) as one particular inspiration. In addition, Shakur cited African-American poet Maya Angelou and William Shakespeare as being equally important to him.

~By 1994, 2Pac rivaled Snoop Dogg as the most controversial figure in rap, spending as much time in prison as he did in the recording studio.

~Shakur renamed his publishing company to "Joshua's Dream" in honor of a young, terminally ill child whose dying wish was to meet him.

~His number one single, "California Love" was certified at sales of 2 million copies in 1998.He is the first rap/hip-hop artist in history to have a wax model of himself set to be placed in Madamme Tussaud's in Las Vegas

~Tupac Recorded close to 150 songs during the final year of his life, and often completed three songs per day in the same period. Shakur also wrote lyrics in the studio and often performed his verses in one take. He felt that rappers who could not perform their verses properly on the first take weren't ready to be rappers. R&B music, on the other hand, was worthy of multiple takes for the vocal tracks, he felt.

~His 1996 song "Me and My Girlfriend" (from the rapper's posthumously released "Don Killuminati" album) chronicles Shakur's relationship with his pistol, which he frequently carried for protection. The "finger fucking" Shakur refers to in the song is actually a euphemism for pulling the trigger. The song was covered in 2003 by Beyonce and Jay-Z with a slightly altered chorus; it reached the top ten of the American pop charts.

~Tupac was the Founding Member of the "Outlawz"

~He Used the name "Makaveli" which is an altered spelling of Machiavelli, about whom he read while in prison.

~In the song "Life Goes On" from the "All Eyez on Me" album, he rhymes about his own funeral.

~The harmonica in "So Many Tears" is a sample from Stevie Wonder's song "That Girl", which spent 9 weeks at number one on the R&B charts in 1982.

~His song "Hit 'Em Up", which Shakur considered a "classic battle record" is scathing attack on one-time friend Notorious BIG, Bad Boy Records, and Puff Daddy. In addition, Shakur claimed that he slept with Faith Evans (Notorious BIG's wife) in the song's lyrics.

~Used an interpolation of the 1984 El Debarge song "A Dream" for his hit "I Ain't Mad At Ya". Tupac's version, however, is at a faster tempo than the original.

~Pac Recorded much of his vocals of the "All Eyez On Me" album with a Neumann U87 microphone. In addition, entire album was recorded on analog tape. This was considered somewhat archaic by 1995 recording standards, as much of the recording industry had transitioned to digital recording. (However, it should be noted that Dr. Dre, who produced two songs for the album still uses analog tape to record his music, as of late 2006).

~The song "To Live and Die in LA", was called by Shakur (who recorded the song under the name "Makaveli", for the "Seven Day Theory" album) "California Love, part 2-- without gay-ass Dre." It is unknown if "gay-ass Dre" is serious slur against Dr. Dre, who left Shakur's label Death Row records shortly after producing two tracks for "All Eyez On Me".

~He completed the 27 song "All Eyez On Me", considered by many to be his magnum opus, in only two weeks. Often cited as rap's first double album, "All Eyez" sessions began just hours after Shakur was released from jail. Released on February 13th 1996, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.

~His career triumphs--a number one album and pop single-- both happened on the 13th: Rap's first double album, "All Eyez on Me" (certified by the RIAA as of December 2006 at 9 million copies sold) hit store shelves on February 13th 1996. His only number one pop single "How Do U Want It?", reached the apex of the Hot 100 on July 13th 1996. Sadly, it was on September 13th (a Friday) that Shakur succumbed to injuries sustained in a Las Vegas shooting.

~"The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory" was recorded and mixed in a mere 7 days in August 1996. It was released November 5, 1996 and debuted at number one on both the pop album and R&B/Hip-Hop album charts, with 663,000 albums sold in its first week. It is certified at 7 million albums sold in the US and 28 million albums worldwide, making it both Tupac's best-selling album and the best-selling rap album of all time.

~Tupac is listed as the most successful gangsta MC in the "Guinness Book of World Records."

2Pac became the unlikely martyr of gangsta rap, and a tragic symbol of the toll its lifestyle exacted on urban black America. At the outset of his career, it didn't appear that he would emerge as one of the definitive rappers of the '90's

Born in New York City,The son of two Black Panther members Afeni Shakur & Billy Garland. His parents had separated before he was born. Renamed Tupac Amaru Shakur in 1972 by his mother after Tupac Amaru, an Inca who was sentenced to death by the Spaniards. Tupac Amaru, in the Inca language, means "shining serpent".

Tupac grew up primarily in Harlem.Frequently, the family was at the poverty level, his mother moved him and his sister around the country for much of their childhood. He spent most of his youth in Harlem, then Baltimore, Maryland then In Oakland, California.

In 1984, his family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he became good friends with Jada Pinkett Smith. His family moved again in 1988 to Oakland, California. He was also good friend of fellow hip-hop MC M.C. Hammer, who also was from Oakland, California, USA.

When he was 12 years old, his mother enrolled him in Harlem's 127th St Ensemble. He played Travis in "A Raisin in The Sun" in his first acting role. As a young man, Tupac also studied dance, including ballet.

Tupac was offered a record contract at the age of 13. However, his mother refused to let him sign anything at such a young age. She felt he had a lot to learn about the world before joining the music industry.

Shakur managed to gain acceptance to the prestigious Baltimore School of the Arts as a teenager. While he was at the school, his creative side flourished, as he began writing raps and acting. he studied drama and rhymed under the name "MC New York." He was 17 Years old. Along with friends, he founded the "Junior Black Panthers" in his youth.

Before he could graduate, his family moved to Marin City, CA,he was 17 years old. Tupac Moved out of his mother's house when he was 17. Over the next few years, he lived on the streets and began hustling.  Eventually, he met Shock-G, the leader of "Digital Underground." The Oakland-based crew decided to hire him as a dancer and roadie. He started out as a second-string rapper and dancer for "Digital Underground", joining only after they had already landed their biggest hit. His first breakthrough in music came in 1991 . . . 2Pac made his first recorded appearance on the group's spring 1991 record, This Is an EP Release, and he also appeared on their second album, "Sons of the P."

As he toured with the group, he worked on his own material. The following year, He delivered His first acclaimed debut album, "2Pacalypse Now" November 12, 1991.The album became a word-of-mouth hit, as "Brenda's Got a Baby" reached the R&B Top 30  and then it was certified gold. It contains 13 songs and reached number 13 on the R&B/Hip-Hop albums.Filled with violent lyrics with references to cop killing, sexual violence and misogyny, it earned both notoriety and acclaim for fans of the genre. . its blunt and explicit lyrics earned criticisms for moral watchdogs, and Vice President Dan Quayle attacked the album while he was campaigning for re-election that year.

In the same year he received individual recognition for his album "2Pacalypse Now," This album was also the beginning of his notoriety as a leading figure of the gangsta permutation of hip-hop.

Shakur began his acting career in the late 1980s with an appearance on the television series "A Different World" (1987). Shakur's profile was raised considerably by his acclaimed role in the 1992  Ernest Dickerson  Urban Drama film "Juice", which led to a lead role in John Singleton's "Poetic Justice" the following year co-starring with Janet Jackson.

By the time the film hit theaters, 2Pac had released his second album, "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.", which became a platinum album, peaking at number four on the R&B charts and launching the Top Ten R&B hit singles "I Get Around" and "Keep Ya Head Up," which peaked at number 11 and 12, respectively, on the pop charts.

Late in 1993, he acted in the basketball movie "Above the Rim". Shakur had a certain charisma that always made him stand out in his films. This was especially true in Gridlock'd (1997) which proved that the versatile young artist had the makings of being a major star. Pac a fan of actor Tim Roth and was delighted to learn he would work with him on "Gridlock'd", released after Shakur's death.

Although Shakur was selling records and earning praise for his music and acting, he began having serious altercations with the law; prior to becoming a recording artist, he had no police record. He was arrested in 1992 after he was involved in a fight that culminated with a stray bullet killing a six-year-old bystander; the charges were later dismissed.

Tupac Was originally cast in Menace II Society (1993) 2Pac was filming Menace II Society in the summer of 1993 when he assaulted director Allen Hughes; He was fired after the physical altercation with director Allen Hughes & he was sentenced to 15 days in jail in early 1994. The sentence arrived after two other high-profile incidents. In October of 1993, when he was charged with shooting two off-duty police officers in Atlanta. The charges were dismissed, but the following month, he and two members of his entourage were charged with sexually abusing a female fan.

In 1994, he was found guilty of sexual assault. The day after the verdict was announced, he was shot by a pair of muggers while he was in the lobby of a New York City recordings studio.Tupac survived the attack, and afterwards frequently boasted of his durability in his lyrics.

Shakur was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison on February 7, 1995.

Later that month, Shakur began serving his sentence. His burgeoning outlaw mythology helped his 1995 third album "Me Against the World" enter the charts at number one . He was the First music artist to have a #1 LP while being in jail! He Read the article in "Entertainment Weekly" about his "Me Against The World" album's debut at number one, while incarcerated. The album's title song also appeared in Michael Bay's 1995 film "Bad Boys", which opened in March-- while Shakur was behind bars.

2Pac's Death Row debut, All Eyez on Me, was the first double disc of original material in hip-hop history. It debuted at number one upon its February release, and would be certified quintuple platinum by the fall. Although he had a hit record and, with the Dr. Dre duet "California Love," a massive single on his hands, Shakur was beginning to tire of hip-hop and started to concentrate on acting. During the summer of 1996, he completed two films, the thriller Bullet and the dark comedy Gridlock'd, which also starred Tim Roth. He also made some recordings for Death Row, which was quickly disintegrating without Dre as the house producer, and as Knight became heavily involved in illegal activities.

While he was in prison, he accused the Notorious B.I.G., Puffy Combs, Andre Harrell, and his own close friend Randy "Stretch" Walker of orchestrating his New York shooting. Shakur only served eight months of his sentence, as Suge Knight, the president of Death Row Records, arranged for parole and posted a 1.4 million dollar bond for the rapper. By the end of the year, 2Pac was out of prison and working on his debut for Death Row. On November 30, 1995 -- the one-year anniversary of the New York shooting -- Walker was killed in a gangland-styled murder in Queens.
