JAMO84: So, insulting prophet Mohammed is part of freedom of expression?
If there's one thing I hate about being a Muslim, it is Islam forbidding me from insulting Jesus. If we can insult Jesus like those filts insult Mohammed, there would have been no need to get physical.
Blasphemy will continue to be dangerous, whether you all like it or not. Even Jesus was crucified for blasphemy, but I guess most Christians don't even know that .
Just keep your miserable opinions about other people's religion to yourselves, and everyone will be fine. you guess most Christians don't know that lol. You think too highly of your knowledge about Christianity. I hope you understand that your statement "Jesus was crucified for blasphemy" gives credence to notion that Jesus proclaimed his divinity. Denying Jesus's divinity is blasphemy for Christians. Blasphemy has no place in a modern society. Any religion that does not reform its position on blasphemy will die a natural death. Islam is more likely to reform than die though. |

Politics › Re: My Take On Buhari’s 2015 Presidential Ambition - OAM4J by monex(m): 1:05pm On Apr 07, 2025 |
OAM4J: Some months ago, I wrote a piece on why I think Jonathan should not be re-elected in 2015 and I did promise when asked on the thread to let the people know my opinion on Buhari’s 2015 presidential ambition. I think the time is right to talk about this since the general has formally declared to run. Unfortunately, my thread on Jonathan went with the data challenge that affected Nairaland. But for those who didn’t read it and are interested in reading it, you can find it here: http://oam4j..com/2014/04/why-jonathan-should-not-be-re-elected.html
Let me digress a bit and talk about my preferred candidates… If God calls on me today and tells me he is going to let me singlehandedly decide who should be the next president of Nigeria, then come May 2015 Madam “Due Process” Oby Ezekwesili will be sworn in as the next president. This is one person I believe understands the challenges of Nigeria and knows what must be done to move Nigeria on the path of greatness. Madam Oby is one courageous woman who I believe will without fear of favour pilot the affair of this nation like a true mother to greatness. Till date the government of the day is yet to take up her challenge for an open debate. I was also not surprised with her frank and sincere speech when APC invited her to their meeting.
But I doubt the political parties of the day will field someone like her. I also don’t see the likes of Dangote, Otedola etc putting their money in her campaign. But should this woman decide to contest for the highest office one way or the other, she has my support and vote, even if am sure she will not win.
My second preferred candidate is Babatunde Raji Fashola: In 2007 I was rooting for Funsho Williams as the next governor of my state - Lagos, then Funsho Williams was killed and I shifted my support for Jimi Agbaje. I disliked the way Tinubu came up with Fashola because at the back of my mind I felt he was trying to push his “boy-boy” on us, and I felt bad when he won but hoped for the best. But 2 years down the lane I came to Nigeria again and I saw a new and better Lagos. I breathe True Fresh-Air at Oshodi and drove on tarred road to my house unlike before. Everywhere I went I saw Fashola’s government working. And I said ‘thank God Fashola won’. Needless to say I supported his re-election in 2011.
With Fashola as the president of this country, I see our power problem finally solved and massive construction everywhere and Nigeria joining the league of developed Nations.
But in 2015, I doubt majority from the North will support any southern presidential candidate because they still feel cheated with the death of Yar’Adua. And all the likes of Peter Obi need to do is campaigned that Fashola ‘deported’ thousands of Ndigbos from Lagos and Fashola is Awolowo’s pikin... your guess is as good as mine on possible outcomes.
Even if Fashola does not become a president in 2015 I hope for the sake of the nation’s progress he is made the Power or Works’ Minister should the opposition win.
Now back to Buhari, in 2011, I supported and campaigned for this general and truly believed he could make a difference if elected, but it didn’t come to be. So I expected Buhari to follow through his promise of not contesting again. What I had hoped for was Buhari becoming a model to young, bright, fairly honest and courageous people to take over from him, giving them all the moral supports they need to succeed. But that didn’t happen.
The question therefore is: If I have to pick between Jonathan and Buhari who will I support?
While I would have preferred a more articulate and younger Buhari, I will certainly not choose or support a man that think stealing is not corruption... definitely not Jonathan. My views about him from my write up have not changed. So I will pick Buhari over Jonathan by miles. Buhari's records as Petroleum Minister, head of state and chairman of PTF speak volume.
I don’t place Buhari in the same intellectual capacity with Oby and Fashola, but what Buhari lacks in this department he has more in integrity, courage and ability to identify capable hands and use them. If we must face reality, as things stands in the opposition now, Buhari has more chances to send Mr I-had-no-shoe back to Otueke with million pairs of shoes to last him three lifetimes than any other opposition candidate. “…if we are unhappy with what we have, the logical thing to do is to attempt to change it with our votes and to change the next one too if we do not find what we want until we find what we all want. That is when the people would truly have attained power” – Babatunde Fashola
Let me end on a light note with something I observed here on Nairaland and other social media; anytime Buhari’s name is mentioned I see PDP supporters and Jonathanians suddenly become special consultants/advisers for the oppositions on how to choose the best presidential candidate. They will suggest 'better' candidates, analyse how Buhari is unelectable and how Buhari’s candidacy means easy passage for Jonathan. But IMO, I think they are afraid of Buhari. If they are sure Buhari is a walk-over for Jonathan, they will be encouraging the opposition to field him rather than advising them to choose another.
Thanks for reading.

it is a Lagos problem that includes all residents in Lagos irrespective of tribe. It isn't a Yoruba problem. You find things like this only in big cities without access to toilets. You hardly find these problems in villages or sub-urbans where there isn't a housing/accommodation problem.
Even the remotest village would have a hole in the ground makeshift toilet. |

Or maybe this is a fake news. The governor is right. There is no law stopping a Sharia panel from operating. It is not a legal court, so its resolutions are not binding by law. It allows Muslims who agree to have arbitrations in line with Islamic principles and jurisprudence. Note that this only involves civil cases. You cannot rule on criminal matters so if I agree, you cannot cut off my hand because I stole. Even the bible says Christians should try and settle their disputes with respected and responsible members of the body of Christ rather than to common law courts (1 Corinthians 6:1). Eze2000: You have a good understanding of a problem but not entirely.
Going by the history of the Bible Israel has no land radar the migrated from Egypt to take a land already occupied by the Palestines
Says biblical times show many wars have been fought between Israel and Palestine for that land. Even Gaza was a city in the Bible before Israel
God eventually gave us your dad land by divine law bought the Palestine and the Arab do not recognize god and this is the problem
Because different Muslim empire have conquered and occupied those lands since ancient times the children of Israel's scattered around the world and rather Palestine made the land they are traditional home
It was only after the first world that the children of Israel began to return to their ancient home and demand that it become a modern state
Several new wars were fourth and Israel was formed by Force
When you hear the Palestine say... From the river to the sea.. they refer to Israel's migration from ebypt into a land that was not originally theirs
The Bible says the children of Israel cross the river Nile into the sani mountains where they spent 40 years before heading to the land of Palestine and conquered it and now that land borders the sea
That time from the river to the sea.. that is palestines telling you that Israel came from the river but will be pushed into the sra
Modify
Please for those of you quoting me that there was nothing like Palestine in ancient time be aware that there was nothing like Italy in Asian times either
The entity you are looking for rather is philistine and Rome respectively you seem to be confusing the philistines with the palestines. The philistines were greek |

Did isreal really care about rescuing the hostages alive even when they continue bombarding Gaza from the air, a place they suspect the hostages are being kept? It was actually Hamas that made the claim that they were killed by Israeli missiles. you might need to ask Hamas to substantiate that claim with evidence. The problem is kidnapping a 4-year old and a 9-months already puts the burden of protection on the kidnapper. Thats actually how it works. Even if Hamas provides evidence that they were hit by air missiles, it doesn't help Hamas case as the initial kidnap was a faux pas.
