Herrera man of the match by a country mile. One shouldn't get carried away, as its only LA Galaxy, but boy has he been impressive.

Who gives a shit about FIFA and their Messi fetish. Let d Messites and anti-Messites carry discussion over to other threads.

Now that d WC is over Van Gaal can officially take charge and begin taking concrete steps.

Have to say I am happy that the Carvalho talk has dampened. No way is he worth activating his release clause. Even though Herrer'sa price tag was steep, he is a player that do a decent job across all central midfield positions and even wide. Carvalho has no such versatility.

I haven't laughed liked that since your ampicillin comment sometime back.

Tactics can make good players look bad and excellent players look ordinary. Just see Mata under Mourinho. Form is temporary, class is permanent. When you ask a squad that has been designed and accustomed to play enjoyable and open footy to be preoccupied with maintaining shape and being solid, it is only natural that some players form will disappear.

Under SAF he would tell the team to go out and enjoy themselves and show their ability. Under Moyes the focus is being hard working and tough. Is it any wonder that some players are struggling to go from a mindset where we try to play with tempo, imagination and risk-taking to being focused on maintaining shape and predictably direct footy.

elampiro: It is normal to lose confidence once bad result start coming in succession. I just finished watching some highlights from our matches of last season. This team has been struggling for sometime. We were only luckier last season. The opponents would missed opportunities of punishing us with a two goal lead, then we came out victorious in those matches with one-nil or two-one. Those same teams are wiser and have better finishers now.
BULLSHIT.

Stop making excuses. Yes we weren't playing the swashbuckling footy or some of our other title winning teams (95, 96, 00, 01, 07) last season, but we didn't look clueless in the final third. We weren't playing this slow predictable pattern that a bunch of school boys would have no problems defending against. When opposition teams stung us we reacted, rather than looking clueless and dispirited. We weren't looking knackered and out of ideas in the final 15 mins of games, like we do now.

You make your luck.

I believe the decision to bring in Moyes was sound and hearing the logic and reasoning of Sir Bobby and Gill, it made sense. The problem is Moyes has, and still is departing from the blueprint that was laid out. Very deceptively he agreed with their suggestions, but once he was in the job, he started flexing. And because United have chosen to give the manager the same powers and scope SAF enjoyed, no one can complain or advice him. Worse still his boss, who could have helped, is not a football man (Woodward) but a banker who has been promoted because of his assistance in helping the owners acquire the club.

had Moyes stayed true to the blueprint envisioned before his appointment and waited before trying to flex. The transition would have been smoother and there would be less turmoil.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 8:19am On Jan 08, 2014
^^ Question is can Moyes get RVP firing with his longball, slow paced, rigid setup? Not to mention unimaginative tactics and approach in the final third.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:47pm On Jan 07, 2014
Yes the team that stifled Madrid in the UCL and walked the EPL last season was actually full of mediocres who can't beat Sunderland in a cup Semi. SAF and his staff just lucked it the last few years with what was really a shit squad. Moyes isn't responsible for the massive chasm that exist between what we saw just 7-8 months ago and what we have been seeing for almost all of his tenure.

Please give this man license to do and undo, even though that was never our initial reason for hiring him. Let him dismantle and reassemble a club of United stature even though so far, he has shown no imagination in his approach to the job and has no record of success as a re-builder or visionary (like SAF).

dademola: 3 loses(2 at home) within 7 days, is a reality!! Wld really want to see d management's reaction to this....
We played very well, i think penalty was harsh. i am happy with the players who put in their all after having to play twice in 48 hours. We will try to win the next game and keep hoping to improve. The squad is not yet where I want to be and I am still getting to know them, but hopefully we get a reaction in the next game. No doubt it is tough at the moment.

David Moyes.

No thanks necessary. cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:32pm On Jan 07, 2014
How will the right subs be made when the squad management is poor, the initial tactics to begin the game are unimaginative and proved to be inefficient, the overall morale is low and technical depth, knowledge & experience on the bench is not enough (really, Phil Neville is going to provide the expertise for Moyes to change the game when this is his very first full-time coaching job)

Valencia is finally at least providing something other than being another warm body on the pitch.

coogar: we are playing away against the minnows - of course it's a penalty.
this moyes is a fool - instead of him to start ringing the attacking changes now, he's bringing on fletcher. na fletcher go score for us?
Cleverley legs have clearly gone, the boy was just doing agidi from the 1st half tilll when he was subbed. We had to get a midfield replacement on for him and since Moyes has sworn not to play Ando, hence leaving him out totally, Fletcher was the only choice.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:18pm On Jan 07, 2014
Moyes is just getting worse. We are more predictable than watching a 5 year old playing a video game, trying to run with one player from end to end and score. Just push the wingers up, get the ball to them and hope something happens from there.

It makes life so easy for the opposition.

Later some will say our players are crap, but the manager is playing them (or not playing them e.g Ando, Fabio, Zaha) in a such a manner where it is hard for them to look good.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:09pm On Jan 07, 2014
I no talk am.

When Moyes want to kill the boy, no interest in keeping him fresh. Besides pretty soft PK.

If Moyes doesn't start rotating the squad and stop freezing out certain players, there will be no energy for a push to finish as high up the table as we need to. Its very likely we will flag later in this game as the previous match against Swansea on Sunday catches up to the players.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 9:01pm On Jan 07, 2014
Moyes wants to kill Cleverley. Consistently playing him in a 2 man midfield, no rest or rotation. Then some will blast him for subpar performances.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 3:07pm On Jan 07, 2014
just read Moyes comments before tonight's semi. this is the guy some want to fragment the decades of work SAF did to build his own in just 12 months?

Is it any wonder all our players look like crap when his Debbie downer attitude is dissipating to the squad.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 12:38pm On Jan 07, 2014
99% of the South American players will be unable to secure a work permit, so it makes no sense to focus on scouting and signing them. surprising that some aren't aware of this.

Oghos1: Wayne Rooney's agent has told #MUFC that Wayne has absolutely no intentions of extending his contract at the club. (Express)
Yeah right, all na format. Stretford has us over a barrel. he knows United will be desperate to hold onto Rooney to avoid the negative impact his departure would cause (loss of sponsor interest, negative reporting e.t.c). hence we will probably put him on CR7 type wages which he likely won't get elsewhere unless he has a barn storming WC.

Woodward and Moyes caused this. had we made a few decent signings in the summer, we wouldn't be so doubtful of being able to make replacement signings. Also had Moyes not decided to make placating and soothing Rooney his top priority, we wouldn't be so reliant on him and strengthened his negotiating hand.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 8:59pm On Jan 05, 2014
coded guy: The problem is, with Moyes and these bunch of I.diots there is no guaranty that we will win the next game.

Moyes will start that one legged ttwat called valencia, vidic and Rio with smalling at right back and we will be here screaming when we lose.

Fergie will start Fabio in the next game just not to kill the boys moral totally, but am sure he will never get a game under Moyes again cos in Moyes' mind as we speak na Fabio cause us to lose today just like elampiro..
Fabio should pack his bags and say goodbye to his twin, cos you can now be sure Moyes will play Giggs at fullback before him. The only way he gets any playing time, is if he pretends to be Rafael for a few games so as to get a chance to force his way in to the side.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 8:42pm On Jan 05, 2014
To be fair we have put in some shocking FA cup performances in recent years under SAF. I recall Leeds beating us at O.T recently. It just seems our players are not able to pick themselves up for F.A cup games, no matter how much they say its been too long since we won it.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 8:39pm On Jan 05, 2014
Plus side, we can now focus on a top 4 finish no distractions. Besides, of our 2 upcoming games against Swansea, I would rather have lost today, and then win in the league at the weekend.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 8:34pm On Jan 05, 2014
I have been hoping for Fabio to get a chance and he messed it up royally today, no excuses. But before some burn him at the stake, didn't Valencia also stupidly put us at risk with a late red, yet he was promptly restored to the starting eleven after his suspension. I see no reason to use this as justification not to give another chance as well.
