debosky: It was 4 games presenting a good opportunity a few days ago, now it's down to three eh? Let's see what happens.
Actually it was 6 games, then after Spurs 5 games, then 4 games after Everton and now 3 games after Newcastle. Like joke will drop points in all the games.

mbulela: I dey sidon look.
Funny enough i no longer feel pained by these results.
Fergie soiled his reputation and achievements by forcing Moyes on the United board. The failure will take at least 3 years to correct.
The day Moyes showed his hands by appointing his backroom staff was the day I saw the handwriting on the wall.
Me sef go follow dance the music way DJ Dayokanu wan nack. Life must go on,after all Moyes will be paid in full this month.
The results are not even the painful part, what pains is the utter lack of direction and cluelessness.
Yes oh. It is painful when you don't know what is coming, but less so when you are already expectant. Nowadays I just laugh.

See what preoccupation with being solid and not getting dominated gets you. You still concede and drop points anyway. Jones in midfield will offer minimal improvement defensively and major impediment offensively. He had a good game, but guess what, we lost anyway. What did it gain us compared to what we lost.

We had no creativity and no spark for most of the game bar a period early in the 2nd half. Cleverley came off and we then had no possession. We were actually under kosh and would have conceded again if not that Newcastle were okay with one.

Manchester United will live or die by playing attacking football. All this cautiousness will backfire. We will failed to score or threaten the opposition and we will still concede soft goals. Evra will fall asleep and let a winger go by him, Vidic will make poor clearances, Jones will give away silly fouls, Smallin will get turned inside out, Cleverley/Fellaini/Giggs will fail to pick up late runners e.t.c You name it, it will happen. We are going to concede come what may, so we need to focus on carrying some threat at the other end.

Moyes and his backroom staffs over focus on solidity though is dulling the spark of all our players, even the flair ones.

A paltry 8 goals at O.T and some think the problem is being solid and grinding against visiting teams.

why is zaha on the left. so that he won't do well and Moyes can then confine him to the bench.

coogar: abeg o - nani is doing wonders on the flanks. he's been the best player in this half so far. beating his marker & whipping the crosses.

at this point, i would take jones off & introduce anderson. 6 attacking players will get you goals. with fergie, it's all about scoring. with moyes, it's all about not conceding.
and we still concede anyways.

Newcastle coming up so let me just quickly say this. We have scored 8 goals at O.T so far. Remove set play goals and that number probably halves. F**k getting bullied, we aren't even playing when we do have the ball.

Its like a boxer who obsessing about his weak chin, when he doesn't even have any offense and he is well behind on the score card, in a must win bout where he needs to win rounds or a K.O. Such a boxer is a fool.

We are in serious danger of blowing any chance at retaining our title and becoming embroiled in a fight for an automatic UCL spot. Jones in a 2 man midfield is bad idea short term and long term. Its not like he is Makele, or even a poor mans Makele (e.g Joey Barton). He offers nothing but a minor speed bump in terms of disrupting the opposition and what he takes away in constructive play is not worth the sacrifice. Jones in a 2 man middle won't stop us conceding soft goals and worse still it won't help us gain control and dictate the tempo of games.

As much as I don't rate him, at least Fellaini can offer a threat and help from set pieces. He can pass forward better and much quicker than Jones. Ando can drive forward better than Jones, is capable of one touch passing and can use his strength to receive the ball under pressure without messing up. Cleverley helps us maintain possession and every minute the opposition doesn't have the ball, is extra minute for us to fashion a chance and give our own defense a breather.

News flash we are well behind the contenders. We need to make up ground and to do that we need to be positive and look to dictate terms. Jones in central midfield does not achieve that, as it places too much pressure and responsibility on whomever partners him to push and prompt United forward (none of our players can do that alone, even Carrick). If our wing play was more like it was in 2010/2011 we might get away with it for a while, but not with our present side.

I guess just like with the summer clamouring for Fellaini, the conclusive proof will come when we see it (sadly to the detriment of United short term and long term)

elampiro: ^^^

Truth be told, for the past two seasons, our team has struggled on the pitch against Man City and Chelsea. Then for some years now, we have the worst midfield among the Europe elites.

While our rivals have consistently strengthened every season in all departments, we kept faith with our old men and too young upcoming boys. Imagine that City were able to allow Barry to leave, Onuoha, Robinho, Tevez, Adebayo, Bellany, Given, Phillip, etc. Then the kept bringing quality after quality to step higher until they got to this level they can boss anyone in the EPL, or at least give a 50-50 fight. Chelsea has released Drogba, Malouda, Alex, Anelka, Meimeres (not sure of the spelling), Ballack, Deko, etc. Even Essien is surplus to requirement and Luis might join him. Lukaku is on loan.

No one dares compare the quality of the players in the above two teams to what we have in United. Chelsea or City would have long sent packing Anderson, Young, Buttner, Fabio, Valencia or Nani or both, Ferdinand, etc. Can any player boast of beating Ivanovic and Cahil with speed as is easily done to Ferdi and Vidic? Check the balance and pace of the other teams defenders. Only Jones has that combination.

Look at Liverpool and Totteham, their transfer market policy is better. Year in year out they buy quality men.

Arsene Wenger lost to Man United 8-2 and he responded quickly by getting bunch of players from the market. If it were United, Arshavin will still be starting matches.
You and this your obsession with pace (at least it wasn't pace & power like usual) grin

Which Jones has balance? The lad that still injures himself every other tackle he makes or commits himself to and still has regular fits of clumsiness. No doubt about it, he is improving steadily. He has a lot of potential but a lot of learning and improving still to do.

I know he has now become your new crush, but don't over rate or exaggerate his attributes. cool
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:59am On Dec 07, 2013
elampiro: Oshea helped us in later years, and we would have won the 2011/12 season had he been around. His performance in his later years is better than what most of our guys are offering now.

You will agree with me that we have played players in their proper positions and we get bullied like school boys. What pairing has Moyes not tried in the midfield? Why did Scholes return and walked straight into the first team? Our current bunch of midfielders can not hold the ball for long and they can't win the ball too. Only Carrick can do one, hold the ball.
No I will not agree. Have we not been fielding a CB at RB for a while now, even though we a multi purpose fullback(who was played in our UCL final appearance 11) frozen out of the squad. Why is Welbeck a striker (whose breakthrough season, 11/12, came when he was played upfront, what a surprise) on the wings, when we just gave Nani a new contract and signed Zaha for £15m. What is Kagawa doing out wide, when we could desperately use his creativity in the center. Why is Phil Jones in midfield, when we have our 3rd costliest signing, sitting on the bench and Anderson as well.

As for O'Shea he only ever played in a 2 man midfield for us in inconsequential games (league cup) or when injuries, suspensions and fixture congestion dictated it. The other occasions, he was played in 3 man center when we were happy for a draw, and/or simply wanted to frustrate and stop superior or deadly sides from blowing us open early.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 9:58am On Dec 07, 2013
As for the Moyes is relatively blameless excuses coming up. Utter nonsense.

I will post a comment I saw which barring a few differences encapsulates how I feel about the Moyes was given a tricky situation excuses.

This idea that SAF left Moyes a shit squad is a fucking joke and huge disrespect to the man. He left Moyes a squad that won the EPL by 11 points and played extremely well in the CL and competed in the cups.

Lets wake up please. SAF left Moyes:

DEFENCE:

1. A world class young goal keeper that he blooded himself, mistakes and all – De Gea
2. The top right back in the country in Rafael.
3. One of the top left backs in the country Evra with 2 raw but exciting understudies in Buttner and Fabio.
4. 5 excellent CD’s, 3 of whom are young. Rio who was excellent last season but under Moyes looks half the player. Vida is still a world class player. Evans, Smalling and Jones are terrific young talents.
5. SAF also lined up a further defender Moyes did not want and bought a full back prospect.

MIDFIELD

6. Two top MF players in Carrick and Kagawa. Plus he identified and lined up additional targets that Moyes decided not to get. There were also squad players like Cleverly, Giggs and Anderson in the mix. Moyes instead signed Fellani last day of window.

WINGS

7. We have 5 wingers if you count Giggs. With Welbeck and Januzaj capable of playing wide. Valencia was a top winger and still has his days where he is solid. Nani we have not seen enough of, he was good against BL then benched. Zaha we have not seen anything of. Young we all think is shit. Welbeck and Januzaj are not really wingers. We don’t have wingers on the level of Bayern or RM but for the EPL they are OK and we can also play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1. We lack a good crosser. Again Moyes could have strengthened here if he had wanted to.

STRIKERS

8. SAF left Moyes with the top strike force in the league. RVP, Rooney, Pea. Plus Kagawa can score and theoretically Welbeck too.

So what is this nonsense about SAF leaving a team that needs a complete overhaul. There is an excellent mix of youth and experience with guys like Powell still to come in. Moyes knew 5 months before the end of the transfer period that he was going to be United manager. He had plenty of time to chose targets and he bleeped up. He also again ignored SAFs advice on which targets to get and ended up with Felllani.

So I would say SAF left Moyes an excellent winning team, he left him the Champions of England, with a top attack, top defence, one of the best MF players in the league, decent wingers and exciting new talent. Pelligrini knew who he wanted and got them early, AVB bought quickly, Arsene and Jose knew what they wanted, Moyes messed up on transfer. Simple as. Nothing to do with SAF. He left him the best team in the country.

Jones in midfield will not help us, the same way playing Fortune, Smith, P Neville, Rio, O'Shea and numerous others did really not help in our wilderness years 2003-2006.

Play players in their proper positions and let them sink or swim on their own merit. Gimmicks won't help.

Moyes has also managed to reverse our penchant for finishing strongly and grabbing late goals, to conceding late result changing goals.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:19am On Dec 05, 2013
Stats show that United is playing far more long balls under Moyes and passing a lot less. This is his style. We may not like it, but Moyes wants to set us up solid and to try to nick a win with direct tactics pumping it into the box, which is what Baines did so well. The problem is this style does not work at the top level and we don't have the mentality or personnel for it e.g really good passers like Scholes or Becks and even then you need to vary it.

tactically there is a huge gap and that style of
play is not working well for us. We are too slow,
we are punting too many balls and we are losing
our ability to pass and move. we immediately hand the initiative to thte opposition.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by montelik(m): 10:01am On Dec 05, 2013
chamotex: This is beyond personnel problems, you could have put any 11 out last night we would not have won that game.
Moyes is tatically inept and can't motivate or get the best out of this team.

Tell me what Moyes' football philosophy is and how his team plays football?

Under Fergie, we were known for our outstanding wingplay and devastating counter attacks
Brendan Rodgers, Laudrup, Mourinho, Wenger, Pep, Martinez, even Sam Allardyce can be said to play a certain brand of football respectively.
Moyes just picks 11 players and tells them to go and play.
This is why when some were obsessing with targeting certain players, I kept asking what Moyes and crew were doing with the squad in training.

One must clench ones buttocks and hope that by
Christmas Moyes will not be saying, “Well we
have another 6 points, that’s 40, if you had told
me we would avoid relegation by Christmas at the
start of the season I would have taken it. We
don’t have the players to compete for top four or
