The Federal Government has approved a 600 per cent increment in hazard allowance for senior health workers and 350 per cent for their junior counterparts.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, made the disclosure in Abuja after a meeting between the Federal Government and representatives of professional bodies and unions in the health sector.
The meeting, which held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa Abuja, deliberated on hazard allowance and retirement age for health workers in government health establishments.
On resolutions of the gathering, Ngige said the Federal Government had reviewed upward the N5,000 monthly hazard allowance for health workers.
According to him, the government team, led by the Minister of State for Budget and Planning, Clem Agba, gave a counter-offer to the earlier submissions of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and affiliate associations, a well as the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU).
He said: “The government side gave them that offer based on the reality that we have on the ground, that the economy is not doing very well, but the capital component of the budget is being funded on borrowing. Earnings of government have also drastically gone down,” Agba added.
Ngige also hinted that the Federal Government had agreed, in principle, to increase the retirement age of doctors and other health workers from 60 to 65 years and 70 years for consultants.
Others, who attended the parley from the government side, include the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Enahire, Ministers of State, Dr. Olorunimbe Mamora (Health), Clems Agba (Budget and Planning) and Festus Keyamo (Labour and Employment).
The Permanent Secretary in the Health Ministry, Abdulaziz Abdulahi and his Labour and Employment counterpart, Peter Yerima Tarfa, were also at the gathering.

It's not pay off as mentioned, it may be miscalculation on d part of gis accounting staff. I know of someone dat got 13months instead of d normal 12

For d claim form u can get to edit any of d form u having by adding d missing months, fill it n give it to ur employer to send it over n don't fail to send it too. After I stopped GIS June 2015 I started sending in my outstanding claim form since I was suppose to September n with God been on my side I have receive 13months stipend. Hoping me n my co-interns we continue to be paid since we didn't get exit training invite.

I want to ask a very salient question, I have a friend who is supposed to round up this scheme by December 2015, his employer has finally signed his timesheet of December (dat means all his timesheet has been signed wish has been confirmed from his own page)

Furthermore, he is having serious issue with his employer since yesterday, and his employer is threatening him that he will deactivate his account, that he will make the timesheet invalid, and he will end up not having November and December stipend.

Finally, my question is, is it possible for the employer to deactivate or making his timesheet dormant even after he (the employer) has successfully filled and submitted the timesheet?? ?? ??

While during d Muslim celebration dey gave monday as public hols n Nigeria was just listed among d 10 Islamic nation so sad. Expect payment January cos president don't care about Christmas

If you taken your time to observe you find out all federal staff nation wide have not been paid and from information reaching us payment may get to next year before it will be made available. Don't know if because it's the Christian celebration at hand that's causing the delay in payment or something else, if you recall during the Muslim celebration period we got our stipend on time. Just my observation and if that's the case we should take our mind off stipends this year.
