Congratulations @thesoj and others who got TRV. For those reapplying, remain hopeful, try to really evaluate before refiring so you have a strong app. To those waiting to collect their passports, fingers crossed and believing for good news on your behalf. Thanks to all who contribute to make this thread a haven for TRV applicants. |

@opendurs Sorry to learn about your denial but someone wrote about the reason why project management isn't a good program for obtaining TRV. Not that it's impossible but it's requires you to do more to convince the VO. 1) cos PM certification which is available in Naija is more recognized internationally than spending so much money for a certificate. I'll suggest changing your course. All the best with your next app. hayqinsbFX: 1 Like |

You have identified the issue yourself: Firstly, your course choice and then not including your academic certificates makes it look like you're just looking to get into Canada. The VO probably knows your application to the school hasn't cost you anything which raises questions about your commitment. This made the VO look closely at your assets. He's probably thinking: if he/she isn't really going to school then this sponsor isn't going to be giving him/her any money, in which case he/she will resort to working or hustling to survive. So like others have said, get an UG admission and reapply for the TRV. You've got a good chance to get it. daudugodswill: |

Sorry to learn about your delay but you've to be careful about rushing to reapply. If you just had a baby, you'll need to have sufficient funds in your husband's account to cover your fees, living expenses while leaving enough to cater for his needs and that of your children. Ojekkk: |

Congratulations to all who got their TRv and are preparing for travel. All the best with your preparations. To those still awaiting response, may you get good news upon good news. To those refiring, hang on to your dream, you will have reason to rejoice soon. To those seeking admission or supervisors, remember to package yourself well, make a good assessment of your skills and abilities and get the admission committee to fall in love with your brand . Godspeed! Canada awaits you. 7 Likes |

There's nothing wrong in emailing CIC but probably unnecessary since someone with a similar experience already shared her experience. Besides, people have always been able to change their institution but usually after landing (crossing the port of entry). @myb012: it might cost a little more going to Ontario first before relocating to Manitoba but I'll advise to spend the money. You've gone through too much already to get to Canada and be refused entry. #justmytwocents. IyaEjima: @myb012 Have ur passport stamped @ YYZ wiv d ON offer letter, go online notify CIC of a change of Sch and move to MB.. Got admitted to UoManitoba 4 Masters, few days after arriving ON and that's what I did. If u r already enrolled in d Sch @ ON (if u paid tuition), pls ask for a withdrawal/refund process and fill d CIC notification form given to u by the Sch too, if any. thesoj: 2 Likes |

Hi, I'm impressed with your foresight and future plans. Well done! You seem to be interested in an academic career. Would you be looking to engage in clinical work as well? If the latter is the case, it might be better to wait till winter 2017, so you can have enough time to get your certificate and final transcript for your admission. That way also, you could seat your Nigerian licensing exam which is necessary for clinical practice. An added advantage is the one raised by TempusQ, coming home and writing the exam could serve as home ties for your visa application. You come across as a very conscientious and focused individual so I'm sure you would make the right decision regardless of what we say on here. Sjvictor21: |

But that's because you're assuming they read the file on the computer. They probably download and print off each application before assessing it; which amounts to the same thing hayqinsbFX: 1 Like |

Sorry for your delay. If you'll permit me to be candid, I kinda see why the VO questioned your purpose of study. 1) Your principal degree was completed online which quite an unusual path for Nigerians (or maybe I'm just naive). Was it completed part-time or full-time? Also, even though I know a PG certificate is a progression, it seems funny that you go abroad (to study in person) for that when you could just as easily complete it online again. I'm not saying it's not possible and you don't have a right to, but it's questionable. You'll need a good LOE to explain why. It would be different if it a program that involves practicum or coop. 2) You went to the UK for your graduation and stayed 3 months. Again, perfectly normal but can be a red flag if it is the first time you travelled. It doesn't mean you can't get a TRV because of this, but you need to be prepared to address it. I kinda think that the travel history that works in your favour is frequent trips or a long stay away for study or business and back, I feel long stays on visitor's visa is frowned upon. Again, it's just my opinion. I no be VO and I no get VO for my family. dharmmie04: 3 Likes |

I get @berexio 's point though. Maybe she just needed a sample to present to the company so they can furnish her with one. I remember when I needed to collect a document from my university, the dean's secretary asked me to go and draft it (because they usually don't provide that particular document routinely), I gave him a draft I had seen elsewhere and he was able to use it a base for preparing mine. Disclaimer: I am not in support of forging documents. justwise: 2 Likes 1 Share |

@chichi89 already replied correctly. Your friend just needs to do as she suggested, apply for a new passport around March/April 2016 so she has enough time to process her study permit before it expires in May. Nigerian passports are renewed at the High Commission in Ottawa, it costs $125+$30 ($125 pad with a credit card & $30 money order). It is usually ready the same day (in a few hours actually) except when it's peak period or when their system is down. Depending on the province to which she is headed, she might need to travel down to Ottawa (Ontario) which can be quite costly if she is not in Ontario or Montreal. JannieO: 2 Likes |

Risky move if you ask me, unless the SOA is a really bouyant one...enough to cover the expenses of both applicants and still have enough left to meet the needs of the sponsor and his family. If not, might be best to find another sponsor...#justmytwocents olageeee: 1 Like |

It depends, if your husband is a permanent resident (PR) or citizen, he doesn't need a transit visa. From my experience, students need transit visas to travel through UK. So @kennytipsy, I'll advise you to check well with the airline before booking the ticket. bimbofela: 1 Like |

True, they could come in handy. I guess what Saxywale is trying to say though is: don't waste money buying seemingly thick and heavy jackets...they'll cost you money, take up your baggage space, and might not be very effective here. So if you've one lying around or find one that is not too pricey or heavy, by all means take it but don't go all out trying to shop for it there. There are even some projects organized by schools here to give free used winter jackets to new international students, so it's better not to stress too much about it in naija. TheBae: 1 Like |

I agree with Arise, even though it is tough and difficult, if the doors have been opening I would advise the individual to go for it. Bearing in mind that people with very bouyant bank statements or who have wealthy sponsors have been denied visas, so if despite the limtied funds, one is somehow able to get admission, then TRV, I'd say hustle for the ticket money and start living your dream one day at a time. It might require working long hours, deferring graduation and finishing after your colleagues or even completing the program and then working off to pay off one's debt before collecting the certificate but it would be possible. The question is, how prepared is the individual to face the challenges? Everyone who comes here and succeeds does so because they are willing to pay the price which I might add, varies for each individual. No be the same wahala we go face but we go face am and we go rough am, as God dey our side. AriseOCompatrot: 1 Like |

Document separators can be in various forms. You can use separate transparents sleeves for each group of documents e.g. sponsor's bank statements, my academic certificates, etc...and attach a post-it on each one. Also, you can use colourful post-it on the edge of the first page of each group of documents, indicating what is in that section. You can also just put each set of documents in an A4 sized paper (folded across) and label them neatly. There isn't any hard and fast rule. It shows organization, facilitates the work of the VO and makes it less likely that any of your document gets overlooked. It definitely is a great idea to use them. favour0011: |

It doesn't have to be 40,000CAD but at least about 25,000 or more. UG usually needs more money because it's a recurring expense (as in usually more years of study) so a good steady flow of income is necessary such that the VO is convinced that you are not only able to meet up with expenses for the first year but for all the years of your study. ***P.S: The comment is not specific to you alone but could apply to other undergrads as well*** Just realised Team12 replied already, sorry for the repetition.
