The Nigerian High Commisdion is in Ottawa & the service is excellent. You'll complete the application online and on the day of your appointment at the high commission you can get your passport within a few hours. Got mine within 3hrs about this time last year. tbaib: |

You don't have to redo the test. Contact the hospital and ask them to upload it. Go thru @Team12's post for more explanation re: medical request when medicals have already been completed. Thomby2k12: |

Looks good. I suppose you're a fresh graduate hence no mention of employment. What program are you going for and what did you study in undergrad? fexy50: |

My candid advice: Take your time. Don't rush to apply. You can focus on gaining admission and work towards fall 2016. From my observation, there's desperation written all over your application, and even though it's the case with many applicants, the key to a successful application is to keep that desperation well hidden. When you are ready to apply, be honest and clear in your application. It is true that they share information but you can find favor if you put up a clear, straightforward application. #justmytwocents fatanu: 3 Likes |

Did you do upfront medicals? If yes, then you've to upload your proof of medicals while applying online. If you haven't done medicals, skip that section. Babalola1990: |

Concordia university is a good school. The people I know who are studying there are in degree programs though. There are NLers there too. Do a search like @thesoj suggested msybe you would find someone completing a graduate diploma there. Odinwa: |

EbuDox: 3.54/5.0 = 70.8% but 3.15/4.0 = 78.8% so I'll suggest you send your transcript (if you've a WES evaluation) as requested and see what they decide. |

@thesoj When you have a minute, could you please help copy richcasey's post with the list of important links into this thread? I know you've included an hyperlink once and Emma copied the link to the list once but I think having the whole list posted at least once in this thread would make it easier for new people to see the answers to the questions, especially those browsing from their smart phones and who aren't tech-savvy. Some of them might not realize that the little hyperlink you added contains all the other links. I tried copying it myself but I'm not that tech-savvy myself so it would let me copy it has the thread (part has been archived. I'm sure you can figure it out. Thanks. 1 Like 1 Share |

Not sure I understand your question. If you're asking about schools offering cheap PGD, I don't think such a list has been compiled, however here's a link for schools offering PGD. You can check if the schools you want are in the list. http://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/?k=&program_level_merged=Graduate+level+certificate%2Fdiploma&program_language=ENGLISH Lobolintin: |

Sorry this is coming late. I'd say yes for wedding pics & marriage certificate under family information No for work ID under passport & travel doc Evidence of work, is if you're going for a program that has co-op or internship as part of the course. In which case you upload your admission letter in which it would be stated or a description of your program requirement. austinebode: |

So many questions at once. Make you take am easy. First get admission then worry about of school accommodation with Nigerian students It's kinda late to start an application for winter 2016, cos the admission process varies from weeks to months. Secondly, visa processing time ranges from 4-12 weeks, so realistically speaking, January 2016 is a long short (unless you've already gotten your application in). Not sure what you mean by university 1 program, but I think it refers to the 1st year when you takes courses to build the required GPA for your desired major. As for amount in sponsors bank account (we just finished discussing this, last 2-3 pages), you need at least : ((Annual tuition + 10,000 living expenses) x 2) + 2M buffer. Solitin40: 2 Likes |

It depends on your field and level of study. You can check the website of the schools listed to see if they offer courses in your field, choose which of the programs you're interested in & then check the tuition fee. That way you can compare prices, you'll also find out if they are still accepting applications from international students for January 2016 Lobolintin: 1 Like |

I don't know about Uottawa or LLM but some general points : Check the instructions on the programme website, contact the course administrator/program advisor. Google samples of statements of purpose. Check the university graduate page if you'll find any Nigerian alumni or current student. Email them with specific, well thought out questions. You don't need an agent for your application for admission or for TRV. A lot of people do it themselves. annikanyi: 1 Like 1 Share |

Just make sure it's clearly stated why the company is sponsoring you i.e. What it stands to gain from investing so much in you. Also the account balance has to be very high seeing as a company has more expenses than an individual. If you've got that covered, you're good to go & all the best with your application. ikem01: |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by montrealer: 10:30pm On Oct 07, 2015 |
Yes you can apply for all three of you. However, I think using 3 sponsors might weaken your case. You could try applying alone, using just two sponsors and your family can apply later, though they might not be able to get their visas in time to accompany you. On the other hand, since your husband is one of the 3 sponsors, it might not pose a problem. I'll let others with experience contribute. uksconsult: |

You must understand that any response or counsel given here is done with the best intentions (to help out). Undergraduate study costs are recurring over a 3-4year period and as such the proof of funds has to be strong & sustainable over the course of study. The currently available balance in the account does not cover your expenses for the first year (tuition 20,000 + living expenses). So the VO would be thinking, even if your sponsor sells the land to pay your bills this year, what would he have left to sell next year? Not forgetting that he needs to meet his needs & cater for three other children as well. As for how often teenagers are rejected, I do not know but if you ask are teenagers rejected, the answer is: yes. The VO isn't as concerned about your age as he is about the strength of your application. Read through the previous parts of the thread to learn from others who were refused on financial grounds. "its better to take the time required to sharpen your axe before attempting to cut down a tree than to go ahead striking the tree with a blunt hammer". (seen on NL) Try to do as @ayooluwatoni & deedee0 suggested: beef up the account, if the duplex is a rental property then that's another steady income source. AverageNed: 4 Likes |

Oh that's good news, the land can stand. Don't think you need to put the one you're building in. I think you're good to go. It's true they'll take into consideration your 3 siblings but with the good flow and strong current balance, you should be ok. Of course, back it with prayers . You can check out how @deedee0 's presented her finances, she also has younger siblings in school but she presented in a way that worked in her favor. All the best, no need to be down, work on getting your dad's account beefed up & victory is ahead. ****edited: @ayooluwatoni makes some good points. Liquid money usually makes a stronger case. AverageNed: Get a co-sponsor or find if he has others assets ( land that has been valued, fixed deposits etc). You need to show enough funds to cover your tuition plus about 10,000CAD for living expenses & a little left over afterwards. |
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by montrealer: 12:12am On Oct 06, 2015 |
I'll suggest you apply to both (if you can afford it) and when you've gotten admission to both you can decide. Reason being that, the factors governing gaining admission are many and diverse and you don't want to risk not getting an admission by only applying to one school. Besides, admission processing time varies, you might end up being grateful you had a backup plan. I've seen people come to Mcgill cos they were denied admission elsewhere. They never thought it would work out that way. If you get your admission perhaps to both schools, then you can decide based on the course content, the support available, living conditions, job, PR etc. If your path leads you somewhere, most likely there's something for you there. Besides, there's no hard and fast rule, you can study in a province & settle in another upon graduation. Hope this helps. Giov: |

Hello, I think it's on the low side. The amount that is currently available is only $7800 which would probably only cover tuition but no living expenses . If he is your only sponsor, you would need to find a co-sponsor. This is because, N10M in your first point is not all available now, it shows good inflow but you've to consider your father's other dependants as well. As for the land he has already sold them so the money is no longer available. It is different if it is land valued at 9.5M Hope this helps. AverageNed: |

I think you just highlighted some of things that some other NLers have tried to point out in the past. Getting an admission doesn't depend only on your grades, it's the whole package: your grades, your experience, your knowledge of the field of study, your ability to research & to develop a favorable rapport with the academic advisor. I'm glad you got the information you needed. As for those who promote PGD, don't blame them. They speak from their experience. Some applied to several Masters programs and were denied thus their reason for counseling others not to try. As for your friends who were denied masters admission following PGD, I'm sure there are other variables that contributed to that. As @thesoj mentioned, I'm at McGill and open to help. All the best with your admission & TRV process Mekurexx: 2 Likes |
