In as much as vigilance and ventilation are needed to keep our democracy alive, the simple truth is that the real situation is very far from the picture Punch Newspaper is painting. There is freedom of speech in Nigeria and on daily basis tens of anti-government and extremely anti-Buhari articles get published in both print and online media. If there wasn't, staunch critics like Femi Fani Kayode with all his misleading, mischievous and insulting posts would have been in jail.

Unfortunately, DSS personnel got carried away in their bid to tame the defiant Yele Sowore that they tactlessly played into his original intention of making himself a hero of democracy by that act of gangsterism in court premises. Now, the enemies of government including displaced and embittered PDP moneybags have subtly moved into action to discredit Buhari's administration in both local and international media. To counter this dangerous development, I think government should reach out to critical civil society stakeholders to restate its commitments to democratic principles.

However, one thing is certain, because Buhari's presidency is very NECESSARY for the INEVITABLE disruptions of the existing political and economic orders that will make way for new orders, it will survive this onslaught like the ones that came in the past.

..the northerners are sophisticated in their own way...dey dont vote for party as it is done in other some geopolitical zones ....they vote for the personality.....look at sokoto for instance ....they voted buhari during presidential election...buh voted Tambuwal during guber elections...so yes atiku doesn't and would never stand a chance with buhari in the north...

Ok think about it. If something similar were to happen in another country that didnt have business ties with Nigeria, do you think he would really be able to handle the situation? With all the political posturing, body language and Machiavellian technique that it would need?

He wouldnt be like Putin or Merkel or somebody with some political backbone, he would still fly down there and take more pictures

as a military head of state he was able to ground the British national aircraft(British airways) and sentence d engineers pilots and crew members on board for about 100yrs jail term because they grounded Nigerian airways in UK and arrested the crew members on board after a failed kidnap attempt of a former minister under shagaris government (Dikko) for him to come and answer for his corruption allegations...so i dare say mr president has guts!!...and in less than 4 days Nigerian airways and crew members where released

Nope, Austerity was introduced by Shehu Shagari after gross corruption and embezzlement. In fact , this was the main reason why Buhari and Idiagbon overthrew the Shagari government.

he was actually nominated....he was in jos as a GOC when the coup was hatched......and i want to believe he was unaware about it because if he was he would have reshuffle the Snr officers that aided the coup (abacha and co) instead he felt he owed dem and gave dem appointment in d armed forces and this same set of Snr officers removed him from power.....and unlike other military head of states (muritala and co) that were brig gens(one star generals) before becoming the head of state that shoot den selves to full generals(4stars) he never did cus of his moral standard and cuss he felt he hasn't earned it...

I hope those two dont lose their popular and influence just like the way ben carson did

..sometime last year i think some parts of Nigeria where enjoying almost 20hrs of electricity in a day...well nt all over, ...some parts...and people here in nairaland can attest to it..
