"Why I chose to stay unmarried" – Bimbo Akintola opens up
Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has shed light on her decision to remain unmarried, even as societal expectations weigh heavily on her.
In a conversation with colleague Emmanuel Ehumadu, popularly known as Labista, the actress shared her views on love, relationships, and marriage.
Akintola, who is known for her versatile on-screen performance, revealed that the love of her life had died, and she has yet to find a replacement for him.
When asked about the possibility of marriage, Akintola reflected on her past heartbreaks, explaining how they have shaped her understanding of commitment.
She made it clear that she is not in a rush to walk down the aisle, especially with someone who may not be fully invested in the lifelong vows that marriage entails.
“I can’t imagine making a ‘forever’ commitment to someone who isn’t equally dedicated,” she said.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs asks judge for identities of accusers to be disclosed
Lawyers for music mogul, 54, charged in wide-ranging sex-trafficking case, criticize ‘onslaught of baseless allegations’
Sean “Diddy” Combs wants prosecutors in his sex-trafficking case to disclose the names of his accusers, Manhattan federal court documents show.
Combs, 54, needs to know the identities of his accusers so as to prepare for the 5 May trial, his legal team argued in a Tuesday letter to judge Arun Subramanian.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to the indictment. He remains jailed pending trial.
“This case is unique, in part because of the number of individuals levying allegations against Mr Combs due to his celebrity status, wealth” and extensive media coverage of lawsuits and other legal proceedings against him, they argued.
“This has had a pervasive ripple effect, resulting in a torrent of allegations by unidentified complainants, spanning from the false to outright absurd.”
They noted that six people filed civil complaints against Combs on Monday, all of them anonymous. The attorney helming these suits claimed at a recent press conference that he represented 120 accusers and that a toll-free number for his firm received thousands of calls within a day, Combs’s team also pointed out.
“These accusations came on the heels of more than a dozen lawsuits previously filed and currently pending, several of which have already been discredited but only after irreparably damaging Mr Combs’s character and reputation,” attorneys for the Bad Boy Records founds said. “These swirling allegations have created a hysterical media circus that, if left unchecked, will irreparably deprive Mr Combs of a fair trial, if they haven’t already.”
Combs’s lawyers said that they asked prosecutors to identify all of the government’s alleged victims because of the number, and anonymity, of accusers. But the prosecution “opposes disclosure of alleged victims’ names at this stage”, Combs’s team said.
Combs faces charges of racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. The indictment alleges that Combs’ violence lasted decades and that the mega-star “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct”.
Combs, with the help of staff and associates, allegedly used his vast business empire to form a “criminal enterprise” rife with verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse against women and that he “manipulated women to participate in highly orchestrated performance of sexual activity with male commercial sex workers.”
Combs is alleged to have controlled these women with drugs and influence over their careers, as well as financially. Federal prosecutors alleged that much of this abuse unfolded at so-called “freak-offs,” which they described as “elaborate and produced sex performances that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often electronically recorded”.
Sometimes, these alleged “freak-offs” lasted for days. After they ended, Combs and his accusers “typically received IV fluids to recover from the physical exertion and drug use”, prosecutors said.
The indictment apparently referred to Casandra “Cassie” Ventura’s claims against Combs in a 16 November 2023 civil suit; she appears to be “Victim-1” in the document. Ventura, who said Combs sexually assaulted and abused her, during their relationship, settled the suit a day later.
Combs’s team points to prosecutors’ language in pushing for the identities of accusers. They said that it was so broad “this could be interpreted as treating Mr Combs’s entire sexual history over the past 16 years as part of the alleged criminal conspiracy”.
“Without clarity from the government, Mr Combs has no way of knowing which allegations the government is relying on for purposes of the indictment. Other than Victim-1, there is no way for Mr Combs to determine who the other unidentified alleged victims are,” they wrote.
“The number of potential alleged victims and the length of time alleged in the indictment both weigh in favor of” disclosing accusers, they also said.
“Moreover, to the extent Mr Combs is forced to mount a defense against criminal allegations that the government does not seek to prove at trial, he is entitled to know that,” they said. Without knowing the identities, “the government is forcing him, unfairly, to play a guessing a game – one made all the more challenging by the onslaught of baseless allegations that desperate plaintiffs are lodging at him (for the most part anonymously) in civil suits designed to exact a payoff from Mr Combs and others”.
Because there is so much evidence, and its provision is expected to take lots of time, Combs would not probably be able to figure out the identities of unnamed accusers.
“Mr Combs also anticipates that the discovery will contain voluminous evidence of consensual sexual activity – making it all the more difficult for Mr Combs to ascertain which of his prior sexual partners now claim, years later, that they felt coerced,” his lawyers argued.
The Manhattan US attorney’s office declined to comment. Combs’s legal team, when asked for comment, directed questions to the filing.

I get life-threatening calls, messages over my generators that don't use fuel - Oyekunle Ayansola...
In an exclusive interview with Vanguard, Oyekunle Michael Ayansola, CEO of Mailko Technology Limited, shared the inspiring story behind his groundbreaking innovation — fuel-less generators. He spoke on the challenges he’s faced along the way, including receiving life-threatening calls and messages.
Ayansola’s journey began 13 years ago when he went to live with his uncle in Ibadan, where frequent power outages made life difficult. “Do you know the pain of trying to read at night without electricity? We relied on lanterns, and it was a huge challenge. You couldn’t even watch TV because there was no power,” Ayansola recalls.
It was during this time that the idea for a generator that didn’t require fuel took root in his mind. Determined to make his vision a reality, Ayansola shared his idea with his physics teacher.
“I told my teacher about it, and he said it was possible,” he adds, reflecting on the moment that set him on the path toward innovation.
Since then, Mailko Technology Limited has grown into a pioneering company, but not without challenges. Ayansola revealed that his invention has made him the target of hostile reactions, including threatening phone calls and messages.
Despite this, he remains focused on his mission to transform the energy sector and provide sustainable, fuel-free solutions.

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi has called on the general public and Iwo sons and daughters to officially address him as His Imperial Majesty and not His Royal Majesty.
Oba Akanbi gave the directive through a personally signed statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday.
The traditional ruler revealed that the reason for the notice is because the throne of Oluwo is such that commands respect and it is of the direct bloodline of Oduduwa.
He noted that unlike many other towns whose kings were promoted from being Baale (Dukes) to Oba, Iwo never had a Baale and as such any Oluwo of Iwo should be addressed as His Imperial Majesty.
The statement reads, “The general public, most especially the admirers of The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, are to note that Oluwo is an Imperial Majesty not His Royal Majesty.
“The stool of Oluwo commands the respect of the direct blood of Oduduwa. The Oluwo stool is a crown from inception. Unlike many other stools in Yorubaland, Iwo stool was never upgraded from Baaleship. It is a natural Paramount crown from formation. Oluwo is a viceroy of none. Oluwo has over 30 Obas he crowned.
“As such, Oluwo should always be addressed as His Imperial Majesty not His Royal Majesty. Any correspondence without proper address will not be honoured. No General will love to be called a sergeant likewise no Doctor will answer the name of a nurse.”
Nigerian-born Dauda wins 2024 Mr Olympia, takes home $600,000
Nigerian-born Samson Dauda has clinched the prestigious 2024 Mr. Olympia bodybuilding title, securing the largest prize ever awarded in the sport’s history.
The event took place at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas in the United States, serving as the grand finale of the 2024 Olympia weekend.
Fifteen elite athletes advanced from the pre-judging stage and battled it out on the main stage for the ultimate crown.
Dauda, a Nigerian-born bodybuilder currently based in the United Kingdom, emerged victorious, with Hadi Choopan taking the runner-up spot, while 2023 champion Derek Lunsford slipped to third place.
In addition to winning the title, Dauda was also crowned the People’s Champion, earning a record-breaking prize of $600,000—the largest sum ever awarded in a bodybuilding competition.
Actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, a legendary figure in bodybuilding, previously dominated the Mr. Olympia stage, winning six consecutive titles from 1970 to 1975 before transitioning to Hollywood.
Schwarzenegger made a successful comeback in 1980, securing his seventh and final title, further cementing his legacy in the sport.
Prof. Sani Abubakar Lugga, the 5th Wazirin Katsina, has called on the northern region to unite and prepare for self-determination, much like their southern counterparts.
Speaking at a community engagement event organized by the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) in Katsina, Lugga stressed the need for northerners to brace themselves for the possibility of separation from Nigeria, reflecting on the persistent calls for secession from the South.
Lugga lamented the lack of unity among northerners in defending their rights, contrasting it with the determination of groups like the Biafrans.
He urged the North to learn from the proactive measures taken by southern states, particularly in addressing security challenges. He noted that while the security situation in the South is less severe, they have formed regional security forces like Amotekun, while the North remains passive.
Referencing historical concerns, Lugga highlighted the apprehension of early Nigerian leaders about the amalgamation of the North and South, a union that, he argued, remains fragile. He warned that without preparation, the North could struggle to survive should the South succeed in breaking away.
CNG’s National Coordinator, Jamilu Charanchi, also emphasized the urgency of community-led actions to address Nigeria’s socioeconomic and security challenges. He criticized the country’s leadership for prioritizing elections over the nation’s future and urged communities to take charge of their destinies through collective action.

A Coca-Cola employee offered to sell company secrets to Pepsi for 1.5 million dollars. Pepsi responded by notifying Coca-Cola.
As high-ranking Coca-Cola employees, Joya Williams and her accomplice Ibrahim Dimson had access to many documents about Coca-Cola drinks and future projects. Williams and Dimson so called Pepsi and offered to sell all the executive secrets for $1.5 million.
Unfortunately for Williams and Dimson, Pepsi executives reported them to Coca-Cola and the FBI. The FBI then sent undercover agents posing as Pepsi executives. Those FBI undercover agents lured Williams and Dimson with a portion of the $1.5 million demanded and forced them to hand over the documents and the vial containing the chemical. Williams and Dimson were caught red-handed.
The FBI presented the proof of payment and the secrets to the court as irrefutable evidence. In 2007, Williams was sentenced to eight years in prison and Dimson to five years in prison.
A Pepsi spokesperson said, "We did what any responsible company would do. Competition can be fierce, but it also has to be fair and legal," according to CNN.
Eight years in prison is the sentence given to Joya Williams, the former Coca-Cola employee and five years to his accomplice, Ibrahim Dimson, who had attempted to sell the secret formula of the famous drink to competitor Pepsi without taking into account that, in addition to patents, the law also protects business secrets.
Making money is no longer about hard work but brain work.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, charged Nigerian youths to be hardworking, saying “There is no food for the lazy man.”
She spoke at the palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The first lady was in Ife to inaugurate hostel and a 2.7 kilometer road donated to Ọbafẹmi Awolọwọ University, (OAU), Ile Ife, by the Ooni of Ife and named after her.
In her remarks at the palace, Mrs Tinubu said “There is no food for the lazy man, even God worked for six days and rested on the seventh day.
“Nigeria is a land that’s flowing with milk and honey, but we need to sustain it for generations to come.
“God has richly blessed my family before getting to presidency and we are contented with what we have.”
Tinubu’s Wife also urged Nigerians to exercise patience with Tinubu’s administration and assured hope for a better future.
According to her, the current administration is committed to providing sustainable development for Nigerians, saying the government will do all it takes to ensure that Nigerians are not disappointed.
“This administration just spent less than 18 months, so, it is not the cause of the economic challenges on ground.
“We are trying all our efforts to ensure that the economy is stabilised and masses are living meaningful lives since the removal of fuel subsidy.”
Air France has opened an investigation into how a jet flying from Paris to Dubai went over Iraq as Iranian missiles fired at Israel crossed the same airspace, the airline said Wednesday.
Iran launched dozens of missiles towards Israel on October 1 in what it said was a response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and others in Lebanon. The missiles had to pass through Iraq’s airspace to reach Israel.
Air France Flight AF662 was flying over Iraq when the Iranian attack began at around 4:45 p.m. UTC (11.45 a.m. ET) and left Iraqi airspace “shortly before” 5 p.m. UTC (12 p.m. ET), the airline told CNN in a statement.
Iraqi airspace was not officially closed by local authorities until 5:56 p.m. UTC (12:56 p.m. ET), it added.
“Thanks to the information we gathered we were able to identify a forthcoming attack on Israel by Iran, involving the launch of ballistic missiles,” Air France said.
“As a result, and without waiting for instructions from the Iraqi authorities, Air France decided to suspend the overflight of the country’s airspace by its aircraft from 5 p.m. UTC [12 p.m. ET],” it added.
Emirates Airbus A380 double decker passenger aircraft spotted flying in the air between the blue sky and the clouds, on final approach for landing on the runway of London Heathrow Airport LHR in the United Kingdom. The superjumbo wide body airplane has the registration tail number A6-EUI and is powered by 4x Engine Alliance EA GP7270 jet engines. The long haul airliner is arriving from Dubai. The airline said its jets “were already avoiding Israeli, Lebanese and Iranian airspace,” and that Flight AF662 was flying through “a special corridor used by all airlines.”
Some hours before the strike, the White House said it had “indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel.”
Air France stressed that a number of its other flights had been diverted to avoid the region on the night of the attack.
“Air France constantly monitors geopolitical developments in the areas it serves and flies over, to ensure the highest levels of flight safety and security,” it said, adding “the safety of its customers and crews is its top priority.”
French television channel LCI, which first reported the incident, said Air France pilots saw the missiles in the night sky from the cockpit, and that Iraqi air traffic control had wished the pilots “good luck.”
Asked by CNN, an Air France spokesperson would not confirm that the pilots saw missiles fly past.
The incident comes as the conflict in the Middle East further spirals. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned the Lebanese people they face falling “into the abyss of a long war” as his country escalates its attacks on Hezbollah, which is continuing to fire rockets into northern Israel.
The Israeli cabinet is also considering how to respond to Iran’s October 1 strike, after pledging Tehran “will pay” for launching its largest-ever attack on Israel.
Meanwhile, Israel’s offensive in Gaza rages on. Palestinians fleeing sites of Israel’s renewed military operation in the north of the strip are being shot at as they evacuate, according to residents there and footage shared with CNN documenting their journey.
A real estate investor leading other diasporans to invest in the country through WinHomes Global Estate, Stella Okengwu, has decried the demolition of the company’s estate worth $250m.
She decried this act at a press briefing in Lagos State on Wednesday, alleging that the act was a targeted action by the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
She said the illegal diversion to WinsHomes Global Estate affected property owners who live in the diaspora.
Okengwu said, “All the estate of WinHomes Global Estate, worth $250m was demolished following an order by the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
“This world press conference intends to expose all of the falsehood and lay bare all the facts of the illegal coastal road alignment and diversion from the initial and authorised alignment of the 2006 gazette earmarked by the then Lagos state governor and now our President Bola Tinubu.”
She noted that it was an easy choice for her to answer the call by Tinubu after his inauguration on May 29, 2023, which he followed up on with various overseas travels in his insistent drive for Nigerians in the diaspora to come back home and join hands into the development of the country by investing in Nigeria.
“As a real estate investor, I, my partners, Femi Adekoya and Olawale Oluwa (Pelle Homes) knew we had to contribute and make our impact felt immediately.
“We collaborated to acquire a substantial tract of land to support our esteemed President’s economic agenda and proceed with its comprehensive development.
“However, the recent actions of the Minister of Works have cast a shadow over these efforts,” Okengwu stated.
According to her, the diasporan real estate investors expressed their anguish over the demolition of their investments in the Okun Ajah area of Lagos State, calling for urgent intervention from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and an investigation into alleged corruption within the Ministry of Works.
She disclosed, “The real estate development, which had attracted substantial foreign direct investment, was destroyed on October 5, 2024. This demolition was carried out under the orders of the Federal Ministry of Works and allegedly violates the 2006 gazetted alignment for a proposed coastal road project.
“Through WinHomes Investment Scheme, 70 per cent of subscribers were diasporans, injecting millions into the Nigerian economy. The investors had meticulously followed legal protocols, obtaining all necessary documentation, including a certificate of occupancy, governor’s consent, and coastal road clearance.”
Okengwu further accused the Federal Ministry of Works of illegally diverting the coastal road from its authorised alignment, resulting in the destruction of all properties in WinHomes estate without prior notice or legal justification.
She alleged, “In addition, there is no marine hub cable in Okun-Ajah to prompt any reason for the diversion. Corruption within the Ministry, claiming that residents of Ocean Bay paid to have their properties spared. We were blindsided by the demolition.”
She urged the President to intervene directly, restore the original coastal road alignment, and ensure that the Senate Committee on Works investigates the corruption.
When contacted for comments on the development, the Special Adviser (Media) to the Minister of Works, Orji Orji, told our correspondent that there was nothing to react on.
He said, “Such complaints should officially be channelled for appropriate response. We can’t react on nothing.”
In an earlier report, the residents of the Okun Ajah community in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State raised the alarm over the alleged illegal diversion of the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Expressway through their community by some officials of the Federal and State government agencies.
The community also debunked claims by the Ministry of Works that the decision to divert the road in Okun-Ajah was necessitated by the presence of telecommunications cable.
The residents in a letter by their Chairman and Secretary, Isah Noibi and Yusuf Odunuga, respectively, urged President Tinubu to direct the officials to reverse the diversion.
The Construction of the Lagos-Calabar Highway officially began in March 2024 with the first phase, a 47.7km stretch in Lagos State, starting from Ahmadu Bello Way.
Umahi previously stated that the full 700km highway is expected to be completed in eight years, with multiple sections beginning simultaneously once procurement, approvals, and other necessary processes are finalised.
