If you are moving to Nigeria particularly Lagos and have never been before then brace yourself for some cultural and lifestyle shocks. The city is a busy place bussling with life all over and can be overwhelming at first so exercise a lot of patience in the initial stages.

Comfort in lagos is very essential to ease any stresses that come with moving to a new country so make sure all the creature comforts you are used are sort out in lagos. Where to shop, how to move around and so onYour partner should be aware of this already.

People in Nigeria are very nice if you understand the culture of how things work there so be open to all of that.( We like to shout a lot but it doesn't mean we are angry or upset about anyting, its just the mode of communication , takes getting used to coming from SA)

SA is only 6 hours away from Nigeria so you can always move back n forth easily.

Enjoy your stay in lagos and don't let people discourage you, go see it for yourself and make your own decisions.

YOu either love the place you are or you leave it. You have a choice. Anything else you can't find in enugu, IMPORT IT. I too lived in the states for a long time and moved back to Naija a couple of years ago. I started out in lagos and city became too much hustle, found my way to Abuja and life became more managaeble.

No I commute in and out alot.....the states, UK, South Africa, Lagos and Abuja when I find I am getting tired but my line of work allows me to do that so really its your choice.

Any West African that claims to have Ethiopian ancestry needs to do a DNA test. This however doesn't changed the fact that East and West African male ancestors branched off from each other from a founder E1b1 (E) with E1b1a moving from east to west very likely during the desertification of the sahara a few ten of thousands of years ago and the second E1b1b remaining within the Eastern, Northeast Africa and spreading to West Asia

What this means is that people of jewish descent are more likely to carry the E1b1b haplogroup more common to the area.

I do not subscribe to the view that individuals are divided under racial lines. There are gradial lines between populations of people in terms of phenotypical expressions, therefore the concept of race for me is only informed b what knowledge is represented by those who choose to accept it.

Its like trying to force a Xtian person to believe in evolution. If he doesn't, he doesn't, however it does not mean he does not understand the concpets presented in the theory.

how do you use an anthropological term for one set of people and then use an ethnic term for yourself? Why don't you call an ethnic Kikuyu kenyan by that designation instead of Bantu or negroid?

That is ridiculous, most people in Africa recognise cultural and historical similarities and struggles they have within the continent and unify themselfs in terms of their "africaness". That is why we use the term "African' quite strongly and "black" is only referenced when we are discriminated against by people based on our origins and skin tone.
