Schwarzman Scholars Program at Tsinghua University

THE SCHWARZMAN SCHOLAR
Every year, up to 200 Schwarzman Scholars will represent the world’s next generation of leaders — high-caliber individuals with open minds and limitless potential — a network of leaders who will serve as bridges between China and the rest of the world.
Schwarzman Scholars will be selected on the basis of not only their academic aptitude and intellectual ability, but also their leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, ability to anticipate and act on emerging trends and opportunities, exemplary character, and desire to understand other cultures, perspectives and positions.

All qualified candidates will have successfully completed their undergraduate degrees prior to enrollment and must be proficient in English.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent.
Applicants who are currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements before August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. There are no requirements for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it is important for applicants, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field.
Age Requirement.
Candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year.
English language proficiency.
Applicants must demonstrate strong English skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English. If the applicant’s native language is not English, official English proficiency test scores must be submitted with the application. This requirement is waived for applicants who studied at an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of the applicant’s academic program. The requirement will also be waived for applicants who have studied in English for two or more years at a Master’s degree level or higher. Acceptable test options are:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT). Minimum score 600.
Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT). Minimum score 100.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Minimum score 7.

A CALL FOR FUTURE LEADERS
Interested candidates participate in a rigorous and thorough selection process, designed to identify the most promising young leaders from around the world. Those selected will have demonstrated their potential to produce results within their own culture and context by inspiring and guiding groups and to not only benefit from but also contribute to the Schwarzman Scholars program. The process includes an online application and evaluation as well as in-person regional interview.

UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowship Programme (UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowships Programme).

A. INTRODUCTION

1. UNESCO designed the project “UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowships Programme” (UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowship Programme) in the framework of the Japanese Funds-in-Trust for the Capacity-Building of Human Resources which was established in November 2000 by the Government of Japan to enable UNESCO to give impetus to research in four areas under UNESCO’s Priority Programme Areas.

2. The Government of Japan offers 10 fellowships, to be awarded to deserving candidates from developing countries, special attention will be given to those who may wish pursue their research studies in Japan, to women, candidates from LDCs, Africa and SIDS countries who are eager to undertake research on one or more of the topics listed below. The aim of the fellowships is to support innovative and imaginative post-graduate research in four areas of development of particular interest to UNESCO.

B. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

1. The UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowships Programme (UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowship Programme) funded under the Japanese Funds-in-Trust for the capacity-building of Human Resources will aim, in particular, to impact on capacity-building and research activities in the following areas: 1. Environment (with particular attention on disaster risk reduction (DRR); 2. Intercultural Dialogue; 3. Information and Communication Technologies; and 4. Peaceful conflict resolution. No other research topics will be considered.

C. ELIGIBILITY

Applicants, a maximum of TWO from each applying National Commission, must meet the following general criteria:

Candidates under this Programme must be post-graduate researchers, already holding either an M.A. or M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) and wishing to pursue research work abroad (preferably in their own region) with a view to enhancing knowledge in one of the four specific fields mentioned in paragraph D.1 below. Thus, those who are in the process of completing their Master’s degree must have completed it PRIOR to taking up their Fellowship.
2. Candidates must be persons of high intellectual promise who may be expected to make significant contributions to their country on return.

3. Candidates must be no more than 40 years of age. Thus, applicants born before 1 January 1978 will not be considered under the Programme.

4. The selected Fellow must carry out the research under the auspices of an academic supervisor in a host institution. Confirmation of acceptance from the academic supervisor is imperative.

5. Priority attention will be given to:

* Those who may wish pursue their research studies in Japan

Fellow Nigerians, we all strongly need to critically think beyond these two political parties come 2019 general elections. Both PDP and APC have absolutely nothing positive to offer our great nation Nigeria. Since the country’s return to the so called “democracy”, Nigeria has not witnessed anything positive but insecurity, unemployment and total collapse of the system from the combined team of these politicians They are morally bankrupt, have no idea, plan, motivation, intelligence, patriotism to move the country forward. A brief flashback, for sixteen (16) years PDP ruled Nigeria poorly. Despite massive funds budgeted for roads rehabilitation, power/electricity, rail system, defense etc were all mismanaged with impunity. Before the 2015 elections, so many PDP members defected to the newly formed APC solely to have a share of the “national cake’’ and retain themselves in the corridor of power.

A snippet of Godswill Akpabio’s defection to the APC. He was a former governor of Akwa-Ibom state for 8years and he achieved absolutely nothing but loot the state treasury. He was part of the PDP led misrule of the nation like his other POLITICIANS DESPERATE FOR POWER (PDP) AND ASSOCIATION OF POLITICAL CRIMINALS/CABAL.

Today APC is dancing and praising Akpabio simply because he defected and his willing to spend stolen funds he acquired to finance the party. They are all shameless criminal with no atom of love for Nigeria.

University of Groningen (Eric Bleumink Fund) Scholarship 2018.

The Eric Bleumink Fund awards scholarships to talented students from developing countries. Such scholarships enable them to further develop as individuals and to make important contributions to the development of their own countries.

Since 2000, the year the fund was started, the EBF handed out more than sixty scholarships. This means more than sixty young, ambitious and very talented people were able to follow an additional study at the University of Groningen. Here they were introduced to an academic culture, libraries and international contacts they are often lacking in their homeland.

WCO Human Resource Development Programme Scholarship Programme.

The Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme (Scholarship Programme) provides a grant covering travel, subsistence, admission, tuition and other approved expenses to enable promising young Customs managers from a developing country member of the WCO to undertake Master’s level studies at the Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) in Tokyo, Japan.

Eligibility Requirements
A candidate must be a customs officer of a developing member of the WCO with quality work experience of at least three years in the field of customs policy and administration in his/her home country.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in IPR border enforcement, and who are expected to work in the IPR-related section of their Customs administration after this Scholarship Programme.
A candidate must be in good health and preferably under 40 years of age as of April 1, 2019.
Individuals who have already been awarded a scholarship under the Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme in the past will not be entitled to apply for this Scholarship Programme.
After the completion of the Programme, the candidates should continue to work in their home Customs administration for 3 years at least.
Coverage
A monthly stipend covers accommodations, meals, transportations, and other expenses. It cannot be increased to cover family members, if any. The amount of stipend is subject to change according to the decision of the Japanese Government.*

Round-trip economy-class air tickets between your home country and Japan.
*The current amount of monthly stipend is 147,000 yen (as of 2018).

Policies
If the performance of scholars falls below a certain critical standard (e.g., failing a required course, or one that is important in the curricula), or scholars are unable to continue with schoolwork for any reason whatsoever, we may terminate provision of the scholarship, even during the school year. In the event of such an occurrence, scholars may also not be provided with a return air ticket.
All selected scholars shall abide by the laws of Japan, as well as by AGU regulations, and refrain from engaging in unlawful activities. If the scholar fails to do so, his/her scholarship may be terminated at our discretion and the scholars may not be provided with a return air ticket.

After the Completion of the Programme

After half a year and 3 years respectively from completion of the Programme, Scholars should report to the WCO and the AGU indicating the post they occupy in their home administration and how they have been utilizing the experience they acquired in Japan.

New Zealand Government LEARN Postdoctoral Fellowships.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for the Postdoctoral Fellowship, you must:

Have gained a PhD in the last 5 years.
Be a high achieving researcher (supported by academic transcripts, letters of recommendation and publishing record).
Be employed in an area of research aligned with livestock greenhouse gas mitigation in your home country.
Have the support of your employer to apply for the Fellowship.
Have a mentor in a New Zealand research organisation (host).
Be resident in a developing country as defined by the OECD list of Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) recipients:
Satisfy New Zealand Government requirements for international entry into New Zealand.
Be able to speak and understand English to a level sufficient to function in a research role.

Funding

Funding is available for:

Up to NZD$50,000 per year for a maximum of two years to cover living expenses while inNew Zealand (pro rata to be calculated on time spent in New Zealand).
Up to NZD$5,000 will be provided for return economy class airfares and travel/medicalinsurance.
Up to NZD$5,000 will be provided to assist with research costs associated with the project.

Note that the Fellowship can be flexible to allow for multiple shorter stays in New Zealand.

The minimum duration at any one time in New Zealand is six months, and there must be at least two visits to New Zealand in a two year award period. Funds will be made available subject to the approval of a detailed budget, including evidence of estimated costs, and subject to evidence being provided of employment at your home organisation. This information is requested at the full application stage (see below).

All funds will be administered through the New Zealand host organisation. Once an award has been granted, it is the applicant’s responsibility to work with the New Zealand host organisation to make arrangements for travel, accommodation, insurance and any other logistical requirements.

The Ministry for Primary Industries reserves the right to review the eligibility requirements at any time and in exceptional circumstances award fellowships to applicants who do not meet all the requirements.
Full application process

Full applications for the Postdoctoral Fellowship are assessed annually each July. The full application process is as follows:

Develop a proposal and budget for the postdoctoral research project in close collaboration with the New Zealand host organisation. The budget should include supporting evidence of all associated costs.
Complete all sections of the application form in English.
Sign and date the declaration.
Collect and attach any supporting documents as stipulated on the application form.
Send completed application documents to the New Zealand host organisation.
The New Zealand host organisation must submit the application and supporting documentation to NZAGRC by 30 June of the year the application is to be assessed.

Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered.

The application is assessed by an independent panel of technical and scientific experts appointed by Ministry for Primary Industries. The assessment panel considers:

The science quality and feasibility of the proposed research project.
Alignment with known scientific priorities and profile of the applicant’s home organisationand the New Zealand host organisation.
The extent to which the project will create enduring collaborations between New Zealand and the home country.
The extent to which the project will contribute to building capability in livestock greenhouse gas research in the home organisation and country.

Taking into account the panel’s recommendations, the Ministry for Primary Industries then assesses the application’s ‘fit’ with the objectives of the GRA and other Ministry for Primary Industries objectives and priorities before making its funding decision.

The contract will be signed by the applicant, New Zealand host organisation, the applicant’s home organisation and the NZAGRC.
