National Cybersecurity Postgraduate Scholarships in Singapore.

The National Cybersecurity Postgraduate Scholarship (NCPS) is offered jointly by the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) and the National Cybersecurity R& Programme1 hosted at National Research Foundation (NRF). The NCPS seeks to develop knowledge and skills in infocomm security expertise and groom leaders in this field. It is a prestigious scholarship for graduates and working professionals who are keen to contribute and commit to the protection of Singapore’s cyberspace. Successful scholarship applicants may pursue their Masters (either through coursework or research) or Doctoral degrees (i.e. PhD), locally or overseas.
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident. Applicants for part-time studies and overseas PhD scholarship must be Singapore citizens;
Possess a strong interest in infocomm/cybersecurity as a career; and
Applications must satisfy criteria for and seek admission into a full-time/part-time postgraduate cybersecurity related course in a reputable Singapore or overseas university (for PhD studies only).

Cybersecurity Specialist Postgraduate Scheme (CSPS)

This scheme is applicable to working professionals who have the support of their employers to pursue full time Masters/PhD studies while being a full salaried employee of the company.

Criteria for Company

Companies must meet the following criteria:

Be based in Singapore;
Be committed to support applicants for the full duration of full-time studies leading to the attainment of a Masters/PhD; and
Commit to deploy the scholars in cybersecurity related job function for the period of bond upon graduation.

Support for companies from NRF and IMDA:

Sponsorship for Applicant’s full tuition fees; and
Partial sponsorship for Applicant’s monthly basic salary (Masters at $1,500 and PhD at S$3,500).

The scholarships are tenable at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University and Singapore University of Technology and Design for Masters and Local PhD.

For overseas PhD, the scholarships are tenable at any overseas universities renowned for cybersecurity studies, subjected to the approval of NRF and IMDA.

Upon completion of the Masters and/or PhD programme, scholars will contribute to the cybersecurity field with a Singapore-based company*+ (subject to approval) for a period according to the table below.

United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research Fellowship.

Our Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme gives registered doctoral students the opportunity to utilize the resources and facilities at UNU-WIDER for their PhD dissertation or thesis research on developing economies, and to work with our researchers in areas of mutual interest.

Visiting PhD fellows typically spend three consecutive months at UNU-WIDER before returning to their home institution. During their time in Helsinki, fellows prepare one or more research papers and present a seminar on their research findings
Selection criteria

Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme and have shown ability to conduct research on developing economies. Candidates working in other social sciences may apply but should keep in mind that UNU-WIDER is an economics-focused institute. Candidates should be fluent in oral and written English and possess good quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills. Applications from suitably qualified early-career, female, and developing country researchers are particularly encouraged. The programme is especially addressed at researchers at later stages of their PhD.

The Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme is highly competitive and only a limited number of fellows can be accepted. In recent years, one percent of all applications have been successful.
Financial assistance

UNU-WIDER provides a travel grant to cover the costs of travel to and from the location of your PhD granting institution, medical insurance (for medical and hospital services resulting from sickness and accident during your stay at UNU-WIDER), and a monthly stipend of EUR 1,600 to cover living expenses in Helsinki during the period of their fellowship. The programme does not cover expenses related to dependents.

The Gibraltar Commonwealth Scholarship.

About the Scholarship

The Gibraltar Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme provides financial support that includes all University fees, one annual return trip to and from the country of residence, and a monthly stipend towards completion of a three-year full-time doctoral postgraduate qualification at the University of Gibraltar.

The purpose of the scholarship is to enhance individual teaching and research capacity leading to increased institutional capacity in academic and other sectors in Commonwealth countries and to contribute to Gibraltar’s higher education and research by attracting international candidates and encouraging links and collaboration.

The scholarship is intended for high-quality graduates who have the potential to become influential leaders, teachers, or researchers in their home countries, and whose proposed research topic has been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the selection committee to have a developmental and leadership focus.
Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

Be a citizen of a Commonwealth country other than the host country (Gibraltar) or a British protected person;
Be permanently resident in a Commonwealth country (http://thecommonwealth.org/member-countries);
Be available to start your academic studies in Gibraltar by the start of the academic year in October 2018; and
By October 2018, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).

Additionally, applicants should usually:

hold a Master’s degree awarded by a UK University, or an overseas Master’s degree of an equivalent standard, provided that the Master’s degree is in an appropriate cognate area and that the Master’s degree included training in research and the completion of a research project;
have a good honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline, and ideally have research and/or professional experience at postgraduate level as evidenced in published work, written reports or other appropriate evidence of accomplishment.

If English is not your first language you must demonstrate evidence of English language ability to the following (or equivalent) minimum level of proficiency:

an IELTS score of 6.5; or
a TOEFL score of 600; and
have achieved a minimum of English Language competence equivalent to at least IELTS 5.5 across all four areas of competence – writing, reading, speaking and listening.

An IELTS test will be considered valid only if it is taken after 1 October 2017 and before 10th June 2018.

ICTP Postgraduate Diploma Scholarship for Developing Countries in Italy, 2018

Qualifications and Scholarships

The Postgraduate Diploma Programme is open to young (generally below 28 years of age), qualified graduates from all countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA.
The minimum qualification for applicants is a degree equivalent to an MSc (or an exceptionally good BSc) in physics, mathematics or in a field related to the topics listed below. The selection of candidates will be based on their university record and on academic recommendations.
Since the Postgraduate Diploma Programme is in English, fluency in speaking and writing is an essential qualification.
The applicant is expected to have adequate knowledge of the following topics in the specific field for which he/she is applying:

For Condensed Matter Physics: solid state physics; quantum mechanics; statistical mechanics; classical mechanics; electrodynamics; mathematical physics.
For High Energy, Cosmology and Astropartical Physics: classical mechanics; electrodynamics; special theory of relativity; quantum mechanics; statistical mechanics.
For Earth System Physics: a theoretical background in physics, mathematics or engineering; mathematical methods applied in geophysics and geosciences.
For Mathematics: basic abstract algebra; elements of real and complex analysis; topology.

In each Postgraduate Diploma Programme, scholarships and travel grants will be awarded to those 10 students selected from developing countries. There are no course fees. Students will receive a scholarship of 450 Euro per month for the entire year of study. Accommodation is provided by ICTP.

A limited number of qualified candidates who meet the same selection criteria as others may attend the courses at their own cost. They must supply written evidence from a funding agency or a banking institution that funds are available for their entire year’s stay, and are equal to those offered by the Centre.

Copies of transcripts of university academic records and university degrees in English (The selected candidates will be required to provide originals or certified copies of these documents as well as of their official English translation before he/she can be admitted to the Programme).

Eureka College General Scholarship

These scholarships will be awarded to a college student who is enrolled in classes at Eureka College in the fall semester. Please note that recipients of full-tuition awards through the Reagan, Disciples Leadership, Rigazio and Tuition Waiver programs are ineligible for these additional scholarships.

We do not ask you to apply separately for each scholarship. By filling out the application below you will be considered for any and all scholarships for which you are eligible. Application must be submitted before March 1st.

Applications will be reviewed by faculty and the Eureka College Scholarship Committee. Scholarships will be awarded primarily on merit and need. Academic achievements and leadership experience will be taken into account.

If you are selected as a recipient, you will receive a notification letter. To accept the award, you must sign the notification letter and return it to the Financial Aid Office along with any other requested documents.

Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) – Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP).

The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) is a Dutch scholarships programme from Nuffic, financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the budget for development cooperation.

NFP is currently going through some changes. On 1 July 2017 the NFP entered a new phase as a new programme under the name Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) (earlier was also communicated as KOP). The aim of the programme is to aid the development of the capacity, knowledge and quality of individuals as well as institutions in the field of higher and vocational education. In the first OKP round there were 28 countries eligible for this programme.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible you must meet all of the following criteria:

be a professional and national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the OKP country list.
have an employer’s statement that complies with a prescribed format. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the format must be endorsed in the statement. (You will not be eligible for the fellowship if you fail to submit this document)
not be employed by an organization that has its own means of staff-development. Organizations that are considered to have their own means for staff development are for example:
multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft), large national and/or a large commercial organisations, bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid), multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB), international NGO’s (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care).

Heinz-Kühn-Foundation Scholarships for Young Journalists from Developing Countries.

The aim of the Heinz-Kühn-Foundation is to support the training and professional development of junior journalists.

The foundation awards scholarships to young journalists from North-Rhine-Westphalia for six-week or three-month reporting trips in developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The foundation also provides funds to enable candidates from developing countries to gain professional journalism experience in North-Rhine-Westphalia for up to three months.

Heinz-Kühn-Foundation scholarships are intended to enable junior journalists to further their professional development and continue training in new surroundings, and to gain a first-hand and in-depth knowledge of the customs, opinions and way of life in other countries.
Who is eligible?

Young journalists from North-Rhine-Westphalia and developing countries are eligible for a scholarship if they satisfy the following requirements:

have a keen interest in development issues;
have already gained substantial professional experience in journalism (a completed college education is desirable);
are not older than 35 years of age; and,
have a good command of the official language of their host country (candidates from abroad must at least have a basic knowledge of the German language).

What does the scholarship include?

Scholarship holders get

a lump-sum contribution towards living expenses in the host country (with scholarship payments covering training and living expenses in the host country);
a lump-sum allowance for flight and travelling expenses (the foundation pays a return air ticket for candidates from abroad);
an allowance to cover costs of research materials (e.g. literature);
an allowance for trips within the host country; and,
(if neccessary, for scholarship holders from abroad) a German language course of up to four months at the Düsseldorf or Bonn based Goethe-Institut.

In the lead up to the scholarship and throughout the duration of the scholarship, the Heinz-Kühn-Foundation will provide support.
What are the obligations of German scholarship holders?

Scholarship holders from North-Rhine-Westphalia have to determine and agree with the foundation a plan for their training and professional development in their host country and to follow this plan during the scholarship to the best of their ability. They also undertake to submit a detailed report of their stay in the host country within six weeks of completing the scholarship. All reports from scholarship holders are published in the yearbook of the Heinz-Kühn-Foundation.
How to apply

Journalists who meet the requirements for a scholarship should first contact the foundation to discuss possible host countries and their topics of interest.

Successful Scholarship Application Tips.



The following are some scholarship do’s, don’ts and tips that I believe students can benefit from adopting into their scholarship search routine.
Scholarship Application Do’s:
Start the scholarship search process sooner than later.

If you’re debating on when to start applying, the time is now. You can apply for scholarships you qualify for as early as you’d like and the rule of thumb is always the earlier, the better.

The process can often be very slow, so be patient and continue applying to new scholarships while waiting to hear back from those you’ve already applied to.
Apply for scholarships in different categories.

Don’t limit yourself to one type of scholarship. Balance it out, applying for any merit, athletic, and artistic scholarships you qualify for.

Include letters of recommendation.

A good letter of recommendation can make all the difference in your scholarship application. Make sure that the letters you include are relevant and that you are confident in the person writing the letter for you – there is nothing worse than a lousy rec letter!

Also, give the person writing the letter significant time and a copy of your student resume so that they can easily reference your student activities.
Scholarship Application Don’ts:
Don’t count out scholarships with lower award amounts.

Some students only apply for scholarships with significantly large award amounts. The problem with that methodology is that you are going to have a lot more competition than with lower scholarship amounts.

Whatever you can do to decrease your competition will be in your favor, so applying for all award amounts is a good way to ensure that you have a better chance of winning.

Remember, there is no limit to how many scholarships you can apply for or win, so winning several smaller awards can really add up and serve the same purpose – paying for school – as one large award.
Don’t become discouraged if you don’t win right away.

It’s important to keep in mind that applying for scholarships is a numbers game. The more you apply to, the better your chances of winning – so apply for as many as you qualify for. There are millions of scholarships and they are refreshed daily, so don’t give up if your efforts aren’t rewarded immediately.

Unfortunately, it’s difficult at times to win a scholarship, and not everyone is guaranteed to win one. It’s vital that you never give up applying for scholarships – because then you’re guaranteed to never win one.
Don’t avoid scholarships that require essays.

Many students avoid scholarships that require essays and, for those that are strong writers, focusing on those opportunities can be a smart decision. Yes, they do take more effort but once you have several essay applications under your belt, the process gets easier.

Why discard an essay after putting in hard work, time and effort ? Many essays can be re-purposed (once edited) and applied to future applications and can save you time in the end.

However, don’t just resubmit the same essay – make sure to edit it for each new scholarship essay question!
Tips for Winning Scholarships
Apply early and apply often!

It’s common sense that the more scholarships you actively seek to win, the better your odds are of winning. Cast a wide net – applying for as many scholarships as you’re matched to will make all the difference in winning one.
Stay organized, keeping deadlines in mind!

Always aim to complete your applications before the deadline so that you have plenty of extra time to fix your application should any issues occur. Application deadlines aren’t suggestions – they are final. Keep a calendar that outlines your application deadlines.

Never wait until the deadline to submit your application – apply as early as possible.
Make a scholarship application schedule and stick to it.

Set aside a specific time that you’re going to focus on applying for scholarships. It can be one night a week, an hour each day or whatever works with your schedule.

When the designated time rolls around, focus your efforts solely on your scholarship applications to ensure that you follow through with the process.
Beware of Scholarship and Financial Aid Scams

Familiarize yourself with the warning signs for scholarship and financial aid scams. They’re easier than you think to spot! Here are some scholarship scam warning signs you should be aware of:

• Fees: True scholarships are there to aid you, not the other way around so never pay to apply for scholarships or financial aid.

• Guarantees You’ll Win: Legitimate scholarship sponsors will never guarantee that you’ll win. If an offer is guaranteed, it’s exactly as it seems: too good to be true.

• You’re already a winner! You didn’t apply, yet you’ve won. Legitimate scholarship offers are those you need to put effort into winning through the application process – you aren’t just awarded money for no reason.

• Personal Information Requests: A legitimate scholarship sponsor will never request personal information that you shouldn’t be giving out, like your social security number. If you’re ever uncomfortable with the type of information requested, it’s likely not a legitimate offer.

• Missing Sponsor Information: When a scholarship sponsor is legitimate, you will always be able to access their contact information in some form. If it seems like a “don’t call us, we’ll call you” type of situation, look at it as a red flag for a scam.

New Zealand Development Scholarships

New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) give candidates from selected developing countries an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through study in specific subject areas which will assist in the development of their home country.

NZDS are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme, the New Zealand Government’s overseas aid and development programme. They are managed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).

NZDS are for postgraduate study in New Zealand and are available to candidates from specific African, Caribbean and Latin American countries, and from Bhutan, Jordan, Mongolia, Nepal and Timor-Leste.

NZDS are also available for undergraduate study to candidates from Timor Leste.
Qualification Types

New Zealand Development Scholarships are available for the following qualifications:

Postgraduate Certificate (6 months)
Postgraduate Diploma (1 year)
Master’s Degree (1 – 2 years)
PhD (3 – 4 years)

What happens after I apply?

Nominating Agencies will review all applications received and select the two candidates that best meet the eligibility conditions, preference factors and priority sectors for their country. The Nominating Agencies then send their nominated candidates to us.

In May, we will contact you via email if you have been nominated to let you know that we have received your application as one of the two nominated applicants for your country.

We will then shortlist applications to proceed through to the next stages.

All shortlisted candidates will be assessed, interviewed and undergo reference checks through the New Zealand Scholarships office.

A final decision will be made by mid-October, 2017. Preferred candidates will be notified and go through the placement process at their selected institution. Once successfully placed, they will officially become New Zealand Commonwealth Scholars.
Supporting documents

At the application stage, we only ask for the following supporting documents:

Your academic transcript – it can be an unverified copy at this stage, but it must be in English.
The grading key/scale for this academic transcript. Sometimes this is on the same sheet as your academic transcript, sometimes it is on the back. Please make sure you include the grading scale so that assessors understand what an A, B, C means at your academic institution.
If you are applying for a PhD or Masters by Thesis, a letter of support from your potential supervisor can be attached, but if you do not have one yet you can still apply. See more information about Guidance for PhD applicants or Masters by Thesis.

If you are successful in reaching the later stages of the selection process, you will be required to provide the following documentation:

Media Transition Doctoral Scholarship

UTS is offering scholarships to research the effects and implications of disruption and transition in the media sector. Students will work with the Centre for Media Transition, an interdisciplinary unit established to explore and develop responses to the dramatic and ongoing movements wrought by digital disruption to the media industry.

To encourage interdisciplinary research, the scholarships are being offered as a joint initiative of the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and the Connected Intelligence Centre. Candidates’ research topics need not directly cross all these disciplines, but preference will be given to proposals that include elements from at least two disciplines.

The successful candidate will be awarded $27,000 per annum over 4 years. All scholarships at UTS are dependent upon ongoing satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

have acheived a minimum score on a relevant Certification from the IEEE Computer Society;
be an international student intending to enrol in the Bachelor of Computer Science or the Master of Computer Science at ECU, or be a domestic fee paying student intending to enrol in the Master of Computer Science;
meet ECU’s English and academic direct entry requirements for the course;
not have a pending course application with ECU or be enrolled in the course at ECU; and
commence your course within four months of being granted pre-approval for the scholarship.

Terms and conditions

Receipt of the scholarship is contingent on the following ongoing conditions.

The scholarship recipient may be ineligible for a scholarship if they are in receipt of a government scholarship or industry sponsorship during the term of the scholarship. This is at the discretion of ECU.
The scholarship recipient must comply with any applicable visa requirements.
Pre-approved scholarship applicants must apply and accept their course offer within the time periods specified by ECU (if the course offer is not accepted within the stipulated deadline the scholarship offer will lapse).
The scholarship recipient must be continuously enrolled in their original course of application and be in continuous good standing academically and financially to maintain their scholarship.
Course transfers are not permitted without ECU’s permission (permission may be withheld by ECU in its absolute discretion).
The scholarship recipient must consent to their image being used by ECU for marketing and communication purposes and sign a talent release form to facilitate this.
The scholarship recipient must be reasonably available to support ECU’s marketing and communications endeavours through attendance at key marketing events nominated by ECU.
The scholarship recipient must pay their tuition fees within the stipulated payment deadlines, failure to do so will negate the scholarship and the tuition fee structure will revert to full-fee international tuition.

All scholarships are awarded at the discretion of ECU based on the information submitted by the student and in their course application. ECU reserves the right to revoke the scholarship at any stage if a student is found to have provided information that is misleading, does not meet the scholarship eligibility criteria (including ECU’s standard and specific admission requirements), or does not comply with the ongoing conditions of the scholarship. Bacon Environmental Fellowship

Program Information

Louis Bacon Environmental Leadership Fellows are awarded a full tuition scholarship and health fees for up to two years, depending on the length of their graduate degree program.
Fellows are eligible for a stipend up to $10,000 for up to two years depending on their master’s degree program.
Applicants will be considered based on their excellent academic credentials and a demonstrated focus on developing leadership abilities to impact environmental public policy and practice. CPL seeks a diverse cohort of fellows with emerging leaders from the government, business, and NGO communities dedicated to preserving and enhancing our shared environment.
Fellows will participate in a robust cocurricular program offered by the Center for Public Leadership.
This fellowship is open to applicants entering their first year of study in any of the Harvard Kennedy School’s masters’ degree programs. Students pursuing a joint degree at HKS and another Harvard graduate or professional school or those in concurrent programs at other approved universities or schools may also apply.
The fellowship will be open to all admitted master’s degree program students and will not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or national origin.

The Fellowship Experience

Louis Bacon Environmental Leadership Fellows are a part of the Center for Public Leadership’s community of graduate fellows and will participate in an enriching co-curricular experience designed to enhance their skills and engage their development as emerging leaders in environmental public policy and practice. The co-curricular program typically includes a welcome retreat, a weekly series of speakers, workshops and seminars, a field experience and opportunities to connect with other Center for Public Leadership fellows and alumni.

Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program.

Overview

The Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program (CFSP) is a scholarship program designed to build institutional capacities by training employed nationals from developing countries of La Francophonie.

The program is entirely funded by the Government of Canada, which has entrusted the management of the program to the consortium Canadian Bureau for International Education / World University Service of Canada since January 1st, 2015.
Objective

The long-term goal of the program is to promote the development of recipient countries by giving priority to:

Training of trainers, particularly in the field of technical and vocational education
Improving the skills of college and university personnel in the field of education and research
Increasing and strengthening the skills of specialists and managers in the public and private sectors

Selection process

Candidates are selected by using a quota system for each recipient country. The quota approach allows recipient countries to define their own priorities for training, as well as the level of training required for the development of their institutions.
Eligibility

Institutions targeted by recipient countries conduct internal recruitment campaigns to identify qualified candidates who show the greatest aptitude for helping strengthen their institution’s capacities when they return to their country.

Candidates identified and selected may apply for university studies leading to a master’s and doctoral degree, for technical and vocational training, or for short-term internships.

Clinical training in pharmacy, medicine and dentistry is excluded.
Application process

Candidates must hold a key position so that the knowledge they acquire will benefit the capacity building of their institution.
Evaluation of applications

A local advisory committee formed by representatives of various ministries selects candidates in their country. The accredited Canadian diplomatic mission acts as observer to ensure transparency of the selection process.

The local advisory committee takes into account the candidates’ jobs in the sector or institution to be strengthened and the level of academic excellence as defined by host institutions. An equal number of applications by gender and country is required, and fluency of candidates in spoken and written French is also mandatory.

Final admission to college or university is the sole responsibility of the relevant institution, and the scholarship becomes effective only when the candidate is admitted to the educational institution.

Clarendon Fund Scholarships.



If you apply for a full or part-time master’s or DPhil course at Oxford by the January deadline for your course, you will automatically be considered for a Clarendon Scholarship.

Applications for entry in 2018-19 can be submitted from 1 September 2017. If you wish to be considered for Clarendon, you must apply before the January deadline for your course.
Eligibility

Clarendon Scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic merit and potential to graduate students from all around the world. Scholarships are tenable in all subject areas and are open to candidates who apply for a new master’s or DPhil course by the January admissions deadline.
Nationality

All applicants for graduate study at the University of Oxford are eligible.

Clarendon scholars come from all continents in the world: from the USA to Australia, Venezuela to Vietnam and from Norway to Nigeria!
Level of study

All degree-bearing courses at graduate level are eligible. This encompasses all full-time and part-time master’s and all DPhil courses. A list of all the graduate courses offered by the University of Oxford can be found on the Courses page.

Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma courses are not eligible for this scholarship.
Subject

Clarendon supports scholars from across the University, with no preference for any particular subject area.
Other criteria

Candidates applying to start a new master’s or DPhil course at Oxford are eligible. This includes students who are currently studying for a master’s degree at Oxford but who will be re-applying for a DPhil (you would be eligible for funding for the DPhil).

Applicants who hold deferred offers to start in 2018-19 are not eligible to be considered for this scholarship.

Current students who will continue to study for the same degree at Oxford in the next year are not eligible for this scholarship.
Application

There is no separate application process. You must apply by the January deadline relevant to your course.
Selection criteria

Selection criteria vary slightly depending on the subject area and whether applicants apply for a taught or research degree.

Generally, applications are assessed against the following criteria:
Academic record

An excellent academic record is essential. A high first class honours degree or its equivalent (a GPA score of at least 3.7 if the mark is out of 4, noting that most successful candidates achieve a score higher than 3.7) or an outstanding academic record at master’s level is necessary (noting that an outstanding master’s degree can compensate for a moderate first degree performance). Other indicators of high academic achievement may include individual marks on student transcripts; evidence of previous university prizes or awards; information on your overall position within your cohort; and publications (if applicable).
Aptitude for the proposed course of study

This may be assessed by reviewing your references, your research proposal, demonstrated evidence of your aptitude for research, and the likelihood you will contribute significantly to your field of study.
Student motivation

This is assessed through evidence of your commitment to your proposed course, evaluated by your personal statement and referees’ reports.

World Custom Organization Scholarship

Outline

The Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme (Scholarship Programme) provides a grant covering travel, subsistence, admission, tuition and other approved expenses to enable promising young Customs managers from a developing member of the WCO to undertake Master’s level studies at the Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) in Tokyo, Japan.
Eligibility Requirements

A candidate must be a customs officer of a developing member of the WCO with quality work experience of at least three years in the field of customs policy and administration in his/her home country.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in IPR border enforcement, and who are expected to work in the IPR-related section of their Customs administration after this Scholarship Programme.
A candidate must be in good health and preferably under 40 years of age as of April 1, 2018.
Individuals who have already been awarded a scholarship under the Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme in the past will not be entitled to apply for this Scholarship Programme.
After the completion of the Programme, the candidates should continue to work in their home Customs administration for 3 years at least.

Coverage

A monthly stipend covers accommodations, meals, transportations, and other expenses. It cannot be increased to cover family members if any. The amount of stipend is subject to change according to the decision of the Japanese Government.*

Round-trip economy-class air tickets between your home country and Japan.

*The current amount of monthly stipend is 147,000 yen (as of 2017).

Policies

If the performance of scholars fail below a certain critical standard (e.g., failing a required course, or one that is important in the curricula), or scholars are unable to continue with schoolwork for any reason whatsoever, we may terminate provision of the scholarship, even during the school year. In the event of such an occurrence, scholars may also not be provided with a return air ticket.

All selected scholars shall abide by the laws of Japan, as well as by AGU regulations, and refrain from engaging in unlawful activities. If the scholar fail to do so, his/her scholarship may be terminated at our discretion and the scholars may not be provided with a return air ticket.

After the Completion of the Programme

After half a year and 3 years respectively from completion of the Programme, Scholars should report to the WCO and the AGU indicating the post they occupy in their home administration and how they have been utilizing the experience they acquired in Japan.

PhD Studentship – Analytics and Data Science for Government and Policy

The Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS) is accepting applications from candidates interested in pursuing graduate studies at the PhD level in the area of data science, analytics and big data.

We are looking for outstanding and motivated candidates who are interested in undertaking research in topics in machine learning, predictive modelling and analytics, natural language processing, text analytics and related areas. Strong programming skills in high level programming languages (Python, C, Java) is a requirement and prior experience in undertaking research and projects in the aforementioned areas is desirable. International Council of Ophthalmology Three-Month Fellowships.

The ICO Three-Month Fellowships help promising young ophthalmologists from developing countries improve their practical skills and broaden their perspectives of ophthalmology. Fellows are expected to bring the acquired knowledge and skills back to their home country and take part in programs to preserve and restore vision.

Award: US$6000 (maximum) to cover travel and living expenses for three months. The exact amount is subject to actual student-style living expenses in the host country.
Approximately 60 three-month fellowships are awarded each year.
For applications submitted by the March 31 deadline, the fellowship is awarded and notices are sent out in July. The earliest start date is October 1 of the same year.

University of Lausanne Master’s grants

What is a Masters scholarship?

Masters scholarships are scholarships for excellence awarded exclusively to students who have graduated from a foreign university and whose academic results are of a very high level.

UNIL grants around ten scholarships a year.

The scholarship is granted for the minimum statutory period of the programme chosen by the student. It amounts to CHF 1,600 per month from 15 September to 15 July (or 10 months a year) for the complete duration of the masters (one and a half years or two years depending on the chosen masters), with the exception of cases of definitive failure after the first year.

Candidates are made aware of the fact that the sum of the scholarship awarded is not sufficient to live in Switzerland.
What are the conditions necessary for applying for a Masters scholarship?

To have obtained a foreign university degree considered equivalent to a bachelor at UNIL before the beginning of the masters programme at UNIL.
To have distinguished yourself during your studies, especially through particularly brilliant academic results.
To have a language level of at least B2 (according to the European Language Portfolio global scale) in French or English according to the language in which your chosen masters is taught.
Not to have been registered with UNIL in the past.
To have paid the CHF 200.00 administration fee (see document, “list of documents to attach to your application”).

Withdrawal from the programme will lead to the suspension of the scholarship.
How can I apply for a Masters scholarship?

Georg Forster Research Award (Women encouraged to APPLY)

The Georg Forster Research Award is granted in recognition of a researcher’s entire achievements to date to academics of all disciplines whose fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and beyond and who are expected to continue developing research-based solutions to the specific challenges facing transition and developing countries.

Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country (excluding People’s Republic of China and India. Furthermore, at the time of nomination, they must have had their main residence and place of work in one of these countries for at least five years.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation particularly encourages the nomination of qualified female researchers.

The award amount totals €60,000. In Germany, research awards are generally exempt from income tax under German tax law.

In addition, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25,000, particularly for participating in scientific conferences, additional material resources, e.g., specialist literature and scientific equipment for the nominee’s own institute, as well as for involving junior researchers.

An established academic employed by a university or research institution in Germany must take the initiative to nominate a candidate for the Georg Forster Research Award. Nominations may also be initiated by award winners of the Humboldt Foundation working abroad, provided that the nomination is made jointly with a colleague working in Germany. Self-nomination is not possible.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is granting up to six Georg Forster Research Awards annually.

The deadline for nominations is 31 October of each year; the selection meeting is scheduled for summer of the following year.

Requirements

The nominee must be recognised internationally as an outstandingly qualified academic (e.g. awards, positive responses to publications, etc.).
The nominee’s future perspectives must indicate that she/he will continue to be an active, academically influential researcher in the coming years with relevance to the development of the nominee’s own county.
The nominee must be exceptionally qualified to continue developing research-based solutions to the specific challenges facing transition and developing countries.
The nominee must be a national of a developing or transition country (excluding People’s Republic of China and India; cf. detailed list of countries). At the time of nomination, he or she must have had his or her main residence and place of work in one of these countries for at least five years.;
Detailed expert opinion (laudation) by an academic working at a research institution in Germany who would like to invite the nominee to spend time researching in Germany.
Two expert reviews one by an important academic from abroad and one by a German scientist/scholar.

Selection

Nominations should be sent online to the Humboldt Foundation by 31 October.

The Humboldt Foundation will confirm receipt of the online nomination by email. It is the nominator’s responsibility to ensure that he or she has submitted all the necessary documents. The documents required in addition to the nomination documents, i.e. the confidential statements by the expert reviewers, can be submitted to the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation directly, at the same time as the nomination.

Subsequently, the nomination documents will usually be forwarded to independent peer reviewers for written review. On the basis of these independent peer reviews a selection committee composed of academics from all disciplines will decide on the submitted nominations. The Selection Committee makes its decision solely on the basis of the nominees’ academic qualifications and the relevance of their research to the development of their own countries.

The selection meeting is scheduled for summer.

Nominees will be notified about the Selection Committee’s decision immediately after the meeting.

The Gibraltar Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme provides financial support to include all University fees, one annual return trip to and from the country of residence and a monthly stipend towards completion of a three-year full-time doctoral postgraduate qualification at the University of Gibraltar.

The purpose of the scholarship is to enhance individual teaching and research capacity leading to increased institutional capacity in academic and other sectors in Commonwealth countries and to contribute to Gibraltar’s higher education and research by attracting international candidates and encouraging links and collaboration.

The scholarship is intended for high-quality graduates who have the potential to become influential leaders, teachers, or researchers in their home countries, and whose proposed research topic has been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the selection committee to have a developmental and leadership focus.
How to Apply

This is a joint application system whereby the application is for both the scholarship and for a place to read for a PhD at the University of Gibraltar.

Applications must be made directly to the University and must include:

a completed application form, including your research proposal;

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

Be a citizen of a Commonwealth country other than the host country (The UK and/or Gibraltar) or British protected person;

Be available to start your academic studies in Gibraltar by the start of the academic year in October 2017;
By October 2017, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).

Additionally, applicants should usually:

hold a Master’s degree awarded by a UK University, or an overseas Master’s degree of an equivalent standard, provided that the Master’s degree is in an appropriate cognate area and that the Master’s degree included training in research and the completion of a research project;
have a good honours degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline, and ideally have research and/or professional experience at postgraduate level as evidenced in published work, written reports or other appropriate evidence of accomplishment.

If English is not your first language you must demonstrate evidence of English language ability to the following (or equivalent) minimum level of proficiency:

Commonwealth Scholarships – Royal Veterinary College.

The scholarships are funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and academic direction is provided by the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), a constituent College of the University of London.

The scholarships are available to nationals of developing Commonwealth countries only and the application deadline is Friday 12 May 2017. Applicants must be living and working in a developing Commonwealth country.

The MSc is offered via distance learning and the programme is supported by a wealth of online resources and support, in addition to annual residential teaching workshops at the RVC.
Entry criteria

To study the MSc, students must have:

Either a second class honours degree, or the equivalent, in a scientific subject:
veterinary science
animal science
agriculture
biological sciences or medicine.

KIT Scholarship Fund

KIT Scholarship Fund offers scholarships to talented health professionals from low income countries to study a Master’s programme at KIT (Royal Tropical Institute). The aim is that with what they learn they can contribute to improving the health care situation in their country or around the world.

Who is eligible?
Candidates must be admitted to either the Master in International Health or Master in Public Health and meet all application requirements of the scholarship. Amount of the scholarship
The scholarship is worth €15,000 and is intended as a contribution to the tuition fees of the master’s programme for a maximum period of 12 months. All remaining costs are the responsability of the scholarship holder. The scholarship starts and ends on the dates indicated in the award letter and covers in principle one academic year.

The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program

The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP) provides support to developing country nationals who are PhD candidates in developing countries and working in academic and research institutions in a developing country. RSMFP offers 6–10 months of funding up to $25,000 to conduct PhD research in a World Bank member country other than the Fellow’s home country or country of residence. RSMFP was established in 1982 with $2.8 million in funding from the World Bank and the governments of Bangladesh, China, India, Kuwait, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, and former Yugoslavia.

What can an applicant do before the next call?

Identify a university advisor abroad who will sponsor your fellowship funded PhD research. Please note, RSMFP does not provide guidance on choosing a host institution or research advisor.

Not hold dual citizenship of a developed country;
Be under the age of 35 on the Application Deadline date;
Be enrolled in a PhD program in a member developing country of the World Bank at the time of application
Reside in a member developing country of the World Bank since enrolled in the PhD program;
Have completed all coursework and exam requirements for attaining a PhD at the time of application;
Have a PhD thesis centered on a field of development.

How to Apply?

When the call for applications is open, the application guidelines, online application, and a final list of eligibility criteria will be available on this site.

The RSMFP application must be completed online by the Application Deadline date and include:

The completed application form
An agreement to the terms and conditions for an RSMFP fellowship listed on the Application Form’s Signature Page;
A completed recommendation form submitted online by the host university research advisor; and
A completed recommendation form submitted online by the PhD Thesis supervisor.

All required documents must be uploaded online. Any documents an applicant provides by email, post or any means other than the online application form will not be reviewed.

What are the RSMFP Benefits?

RSMFP provides up to $25,000 (U.S.) for developing country nationals to travel abroad to conduct development-related PhD research under the supervision of a host advisor at a university, research or development institution in a World Bank member country. The Scholarship covers a 6 to 10 month period. Details on eligible expenditures are provided in the Application Guidelines.

What is the Selection Process?

The RSMFP uses the following process to review completed applications, with the aim to identify eligible candidates with the most innovative and relevant research proposals in the area of development.

Two qualified reviewers independently review each eligible application to assess the following:

Quality of the proposed fellowship (70%)
Prospects for a productive career in research post-PhD (30%)

Information provided by your PhD thesis supervisor and your host institution research advisor are particularly important elements of your application.

The World Bank Robert S. McNamara Secretariat uses the average score of the two reviewers and the following other aspects to select the finalists:

Maintaining a reasonably wide geographical distribution of awards, that takes into account the geographic distribution of eligible applications;
Maintaining a reasonable distribution of awards across gender that takes into account the distribution of eligible applications across gender;
Giving fellowships to those applicants who, other things equal, appear to have limited financial resources;
Giving preference to applicants currently employed as lecturers or researchers at an academic or research institution in a member developing country of the World Bank;
Giving preference to applicants who have not received a JJ/WBGSP scholarship for a master’s degree program.
