TheSuperNerd: Golden Eaglets draw again in test game
The Golden Eaglets had to fight from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Miracle Academy of Abia in a third test game preparatory to the WAFU B U17 AFCON qualifying tournament next month in Ghana.
The match was watched by NFF president Ibrahim Gusau and former African Footballer of Year Victor Ikpeba.
The Eaglets paraded athletic and physically imposing players who in time will play with a lot more cohesion.
The U17s under coach Manu Garba won their first friendly 4-2, before they were held to a 1-1 draw by Ikon Allah Academy of Kaduna.
The U17 AFCON qualifying tournament will kick off May 15.

DOptical: Didn't they all play against the Mali midfield which disgraced Nigeria midfield? Isn't Alhasan more of a defensive 8?
All I know is the Nigeria team needs a holding midfielder. It was noticed at the Afcon and against Mali. Even Ghana almost defeated the team despite being one man down. What is the difference between a defensive 8 and a holding midfielder? Can you give an example please |

Victor Gyokeres is a good example but there is no guarantee that he will succeed under the conditions of the PL. It is not an uphill task. If Gabriel Jesus can just convert 60% of his chances, we would have had one in our hand. But baba go dey dance atilogwu. |

Spy360: Lol
If a striker is playing striker does it change anything?
For it to be false, it has to be a midfielder playing as a striker.
Abeg nor argue semantics with me. I pass that level. Maybe you should take the argument to those who taught you semantics. A striker can play as a false 9! This is a simple knowledge na. What makes a false 9 is the role you played on the field and not necessarily whether a player is a midfielder or a striker. You can search in Google though |

It's a difficult place and Spurs na real Jekyll and Hyde but if same lineup of ystdy still starts, then I'm confident of a win. A slim win tho I don't find them scary anymore TBH. Spy360: First of all, what is a false 9?
Let's start from there because it seems you probably are using a wrong term to describe what you want.
A false 9 is a midfielder playing upfront. Like Cesc Fabregas for Barcelona those days.
Harry Kane for all intent is a striker, a 9 and not a false 9 please. May be you didn't get the definition right which misinformed all of us. A false 9 doesn't necessarily mean a midfielder playing as striker, that's where you're getting things wrong. Jesus wey you dey call false 9 no be striker? A false 9 is more of a role than a position or Identity. |

Spy360: When we argued about GJ not scoring goals like a typical striker that scores 20+ goals a season. You said he wasn't clinical as a striker, I said he cannot be clinical because he gets involved with open play which means he is not always available for the final pass Though you finally came to terms but have forgotten that you were actually against not having a striker.
No wahala Shey una dey hear excuse. Because a player is involved in build up play, he is free to waste chances? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 12:09pm On Apr 24, 2024 |
Spy360: We have a scored 104goals already this season. More than Man City with Haaland, and Liverpool with Nunes or whoever. So how would we convince the owners that we need a striker. What would be his job? Score goals?
I have stated here times without number (but you guys are not humble enough to give me my flowers ) that as far as Arteta's tactics is concerned, he does not need a traditional striker. That the reason is because whoever is playing front is only acting as a decoy. He is actually an AM. He prefers a multiple outlet for goals than a single one. That is why despite scoring 100+ goals, no one has scored a hat trick this season.
When I had that argument with Jodera about Gabriel Jesus not playing as a striker he thought I was silly. You know a striker from his movements and positioning. Kai Havertz is another perfect example of an AM playing as a striker, someone who can drop deep to overload the middle. These are Arteta's tactics this season and it has worked tremendously well for him.
See, any time Arteta goes for a striker which is possible just know that he wants to change tactics (or perhaps have an alternative tactics) to what we are currently playing. But as far as this tactics is concerned, we don't need a traditional goal scorer. We only need players who can drop deep from attacking position. How about we get someone that can score goals, play as an AM and still act as decoy? Wouldn't be bad right? |
