They simply played the style Arteta refused to play vs same Newcastle. Newcastle looked lost when the kept penetrating behind their typical block. Nick Pope really tried sha. But that Brandt and Adéyemí alone. Reminds of the Cazorla counter attack days and quick transition. More or less, na semi Wengerball Dortmund play vs Newcastle.

Those ones were too concerned with their block and forgot the pace and vision of Karim. At least they don show say Newcastle are wack when you counter them. These are the things.
Omo..how I wish we can get a young player as good as Cazorla. Sharp and fast-paced football...chai

There is nothing critical about our stage jare. Rodri played 36 out of 38 league matches for city last season.

When u have good players u must use them, except u don't like to win as a coach. We in November, if there's a major injury crises clubs have the chance of stocking up in January.

As it stands rice has not even played 18 matches and we are talking about fatigue, injury scare and what have u. Rice is elite, if it takes him to play complete 90mins for us to win small teams like Burnley , Luton etc make dem use am!

I remember when Gabriel was benched early this season; almost everyone of us nearly shouted our voice hoarse seeing how good Gabriel and how not-so-good his replacement was.

I never said an injured player or a player still recovering from injury should be fielded , but any fully fit player should play their active part in ensuring we win matches.
Arteta has confirmed that Rice suffered a back injury and the England international midfielder looked disappointed as he was walking around the Emirates Stadium after the game and didn't respond to questions about his back injury.

The bolded was from from 2 weeks ago. Whether he has fully recovered or still carrying same is what I don't know but squeezing out a little time for him either to recuperate or prevent further aggravation especially as Partey is injured is not too much to ask.

That's my main point.

On the contrary, considering that they were determined to make us go wide, and Jorg kept seeing spaces behind their block, but cos of instructions, he didn't exploit it. If ESR was on, Jorg will have no choice than to use a pass or more to him. That way, Saka would bother less about creating and go finishing.

Infact, based on this instructions that was foolish, if ESR was in the XI, there's a high possibility that his presence would be useless, simply because of a stupid instructions from the bench. So I'll say it's not just the inverted stuff hampering us right now. It's the fact that teams are studying the Arteta style and he's not even cunny enough to tweak something that will take these opponents off guard. We can't continue to rely on patience or someone's loss of concentration.
Newcastle has taught us this very lesson in last 4meetings. Why can't Arteta just draw something new from the box?

As you rightly said, Unpredictability. Odegaard and Rice need to be switching wings more often for a few minutes. That alone can help boost threat. Not this backwards pass and rotating that is so common with Nelli/Saka right now. These guys barely receive the ball and 3 shirts and on them already. So we have literally been figured out for WIDE play.

We need to restore some central thread!!!!
Our system is too rigid..make Arteta fix am.

Arsenal is one funny club and its fans are even funnier grin

We cried for months for the club to strengthen the squad in the middle; the club finally did and bought a very good player after coughing out over a 100m pounds.

Now we are the same people begging the club to use the player sparingly just because we believe he will suffer injury if he's overused .

It will interest u to know that Partey used 5 good years at Athletico Madrid and he only missed 6 games through injury in all of those 5 years.

What am I saying here? Player wey go get injury go surely get injury whether he plays regularly or sparingly. I am an advocate for a good player to always start once he's not injured and fully match fit. I don't subscribe to benching a player or limiting his playtime for fear of injury on the pitch. If a good player starts and get injured, let other players step up and step into his shoes.

We didn't buy a player for N100m to be keeping him inside "show glass" when we need to amass as much points as possible now that the season is still young.
Ode didn't show any sign of injury or fatigue but couldn't make the last MD squad. Partey came back from playing just 45 minutes with Ghana and even trained with the squad but he is currently out for 'weeks'. ESR, Saka, Saliba and even Martinelli played a couple of matches while carrying a niggling injury.

Are you aware there were injury concerns about Rice just few weeks ago? What I posted is not sentiment or whatever, it is common sense. With Partey available, playing Rice wouldn't have been an issue since his deputy is fit.

We are in a critical stage where an injury to one of our 'spine' will be a massive blow to our title quest so protecting our asset is a sensible move. That we bought him for such amount doesn't mean we should overuse him.

Moreso, there is nothing wrong in getting the job done before 80th minute and give Rice his much needed rest.

As for the Partey example you brought, did you consider the league, the football schedule and the stress factor?

You only considered the injury factor. What of fatiguehuh

I know good coaches do get outsmarted at times but that was a foolish move from Ange. A draw would have been a good result for Spurs so why take a risky approach especially when your best defender has already been sent off. Just defend deep with 431 and see off the game.

Yea...they scored (rightly ruled out);and almost scored another via their brilliant setpiece approach.

Bros it’s possible we might score if the goal was disallowed
Awarding a dubious goal can drain players emotionally and psychologically
Cut them some slack they tried their best imo even though it wasn’t enough
First half Newcastle have zero shot nothing at all
In total only 3 shots on target was shared between the 2 teams

Btw vvd was rightly sent off not controversial
Ok..let me admit VVD's red card might not be controversial but Liverpool still came back from a goal down and won the match with ten men. There is nothing stopping us from doing the same. We are just not clicking... Our last 3 to 4 matches is a testament to this.

Check up that tweet i dropped up there and scroll down to something key that we refused to take advantage of all cos Arteta instructed against it. That is madness. Super madness. I think that's the main reason players like ESR are not given enough minutes. Cos that is their style in the centre of the pitch.

I don't want us to reach Boxing Day matches before be realize that Saka is now minus 1 currently. I'm his biggest fan but I'll say it as it is. He is super okay defensively but offers nothing upfront against.
Take for example that key pass from Nelli or was it Rice, guy was supposed to use his right foot to fire a shot. Rather he was switching to left asif it was only 3 Newcastle players that were playing that night.

Gary Neville also made an observation. He may be dragged cos he says stupid things alot. But he is right about the Jover/Trossard Corner kicks situations. These guys should be allowed to play tjis game without bothering all 90mins about "How to do it" from the bench. This is not robotics now. It's worrisome.

As for the map below, this is the 1st time that Kai has more ball progression than Saka when both were on pitch together. That is also worrisome.
Fact is ESR wouldn't have done anything to change the game. I expected Arteta to be flexible with his tactic now. Saka, Martinez and others are off form because they're too restrained by the tactic which has made them to be found out.

Arteta needs to add more unpredictability to our tactic. Ode should move to the other wing...let the FBs hold the width...the wingers should come in....fluid front three.

All those inverted nonsense is restricting the team.

I'm not even concerned about the dubious goal awarded to Newcastle. My issue is WTF were we doing for the remaining minutes that we couldn't score?

Liverpool got a player controversially sent off on the same ground but still came back from a goal down to win the match.

We have bigger issue to worry about. Make Arteta shut up and find solution to our recent abysmal performances.

After yesterday I came to the conclusion that after getting a good pivot, we also need another striker to pair Roque, someone with more experience in Europe to phase out lewandowski, he might just be returning from injury and is still our best finisher considering his pichichi but man looks like age has caught up with him, even ferran shows several attributes of a striker but he mostly misses his shots, We just have to look for money somehow and fight against tebas's FFP chokehold cause we need new life in that attack
La Masia!!! Just get any La Masia kid and give him game time. grin
