Going forward, I think it is either English FA stopped Saudi Arabia from taking over any EPL club or stop EPL referees from doing anything relating to the Saudis.

Most of these referees are on Saudi's payroll (private contract) and would do anything not to unsettle their paymaster.

This is not about today's match alone though.

For today, Dan Burn and Bruno have made more cynical tackles than the Havertz's own but nothing was shown to them.

Arthur Vermeeren will be Arsenal's first signing in the winter transfer window. The Gunners are reportedly 'closing in' on the deal involving Royal Antwerp midfielder. Understand the Gunners have beaten Barcelona to secure the service of the 18-yo compared to football greats like Iniesta and Xavi. #AFC [ Red_London21 ] #arsenalfanaticsnews

Here we go!
Voting of Members of the Nomination Committee
Gentlemen and ladies of the thread, it is time for us to vote for those who will stand as representatives of this thread and partake in the selection of award categories and award nominees.
This year, the nomination committee will be made up of at least 7 members: myself, icon4s who pioneered the award will continue as an honorary member of the committee and at least 5 monikers from this thread.
Every member of this thread is eligible to vote and be voted for. But let's keep in mind that this isn't a popularity contest. Vote for those you believe have the knowledge and passion for Nigerian football.
Here's the rule for voting:
1) You're to vote for 5 monikers from this thread to join the committee;
2) Vote the monikers in order of preference, from top to bottom;
3) Points will be awarded to each moniker you vote for. Your first nominee gets 5 point, the second gets 4 points, the third gets 3 points, fourth gets 2 points and fifth gets 1 point.
4) At the end of the voting process, the five monikers with the most points will join the committee;
5) In the event that two or more monikers are tied on points, they will all be added to the committee, as the goal is to have as many monikers to contribute to the process.
6) You're allowed to nominate yourself

Voting closes on Wednesday, November 8th 2023, 10pm Nigerian time.

Thank you.

Well, I can't judge ESR now especially knowing who he is.
Remember, ESR have been fit since the start of the season but he wasn't just favoured yet.
If he'd been given the chances Viera and Havertz have been given from last season, I believe he would have been a starter by now.

ESR isn't injury prone, hope you know that.

As for that match ystdy, most of the players are players I no dey really feel.

Aside Trossard (who mostly come from bench), the rest no deh feel me with confidence.

The Nelson, Kiwi, Havertz, Jorginho, Viera no deh ever feel me with confidence. Na reason I just no bother watch the match one bit as I see them come see West ham lineup.
Well..his unavailability is another issue too.
See eh, whoever plays or get benched, this EPL is important abeg. E don tey wey we Don dey trust the process.

Meanwhile, what do you think about this Newcastle match. I no dey feel good about that match.

1. Naahhh, I wasn't even triggered by any Havertz talk when I first quoted you. It was strictly because of ESR and that was why I bolded that post. I was impressed with what I saw from ESR with his drives and forward passes compared to what Havertz gave. But then everyone sees differently I guess

2. If Havertz goes to injury, we have plethora of options to fill that slot and we'll never remember Havertz plays for us.
Rice can play there with Partey Dm. ESR can play there with either Rice/Partey Dm, Trossard can also play there too. I no too gbadu Viera cos he needs to bulk up to really influence game. He's too light weight for my liking.
So No, we aren't packed with Otus in that place as replacements

3. Nelson and Viera are mostly bench players. The expectations from them would not reach the expectation one would expect from a starter.
Like I said, the day Nelson and Viera continue to be starters that's when their bashing will be loud compared to how is it now if they continue dropping underwhelming performances.
At least you were a witness to the day Viera was bashed against Southampton last season
Your points are well understood. The rubbish they played yesterday was annoying. I mean, they should at least show us they can rise to the occasion when the need arises.

Partey is injured... ESR is injured (minor probably). With what ESR showed us 2 seasons ago, he should be starting not sitting on the bench.

As for that Sheffield match, according to several sites who rated the players, both of them kept things 'simple and basic'. That to me is never enough.

Pix 2- Arsenal vs Sheffield player ratings

The facts are there for u to see urself .

Now imagine if Smith-Rowe gets the aging time he got in the past
Bro there is actually no difference here. Most sites gave both the same ratings...I expected him to be better than this. Although, my point was about the subpar performance of the reserves generally. I even mentioned Nelson, Kiwior, Jorginho and Vieira.

Now that he is getting minutes, injury struck again. As it stands now, we are stucked with Havertz.

Against Sheffield, he was given the starting shirt but couldn't do nada.

His cameo against Chelsea? What were his impacts?

20 minutes against Chelsea

70 minutes against Sheffield

But I didn't edit ur original post na; I quoted exactly what u typed. The post is still there for everyone to see.

You practically said the players we are hoping to start ahead of Havertz are frauds but I disagree with you totally. I pointed it out to you that Smith-Rowe has played the position before now and he's not a fraud. Smith-Rowe has rarely seen starting shirt this season which is majorly due to the coach's decision.

Havertz has seen much more playing time , yet he has not convinced both the fans and even club legends he's the player Arteta thought he signed.

I repeat again: If Havertz leaves January none of us will miss him.

That was how some people were saying Lacazette was this and that.... we will miss him blahh blahh....blahh. He left and the team moved on. That was how swissh was telling us Pepe will come out good after flopping consistently; we ditched him and the club moved on.

If a player gets playing time and consistently delivers subpar performance, I don't it's wrong for the fans to question his continuous inclusion in the team. Havertz has not impressed anybody thus far and he rightly deserves the criticism he's getting.
When you 'misquote' , you misunderstood.

If only you know how much I want Havertz benched too. Because he has been frustrating. The only positive I can draw from his performance is his height as that give us an option in case we want to go 'cross and nod'.

ESR not getting game time has a lot to do with his unavailability. Havertz was getting the nod from the start of the season but there were moment of brilliance from Vieira anytime both were substituted for each other. Saka got the big chance from his cameo appearances in Europa. The little chance ESR has gotten this season, what has he done with it? Now, he is out injured which is quite frustrating.

My issue is not with Havertz but those competing with him. One of them ought to have grabbed the starting shirt from Havertz. I must admit Vieira has shown some brilliance but we all know he is quite fragile and may get outmuscled.

Mind you, Partey sef follow for this talk not only ESR.

Wetin be this?

We've seen ESR in Arsenal shirt play that Havertz role and he didn't flop.

I don't understand what Havertz has played in both Chelsea and Arsenal that makes u stan him the way u are doing to the extent of disrespecting our own players. I understand most of our players were off yesterday, but havertz himself didn't do anything spectacular to better our lot.

I can stand here and boldly tell u that If Havertz leaves Arsenal today we won't miss him one bit going by his performance in an Arsenal shirt till date.
First of all, this is not Havert's stanning post. Don't misquote me please. As for ESR, I'm talking about this season. Even at that, ESR's best performances have come either as a lone 10 or from the wing.

And I never said we will miss Havertz. My point is that those we're banking on to even start ahead of Havertz are not justifying their selection. ESR is like the 3rd choice right now, that should tell you he is not the same ESR you're talking about here.

Though, opinion differs. Some might actually be satisfied with the subpar performance these guys are dishing out sha

At the heart of it is some level of complacency on the part of coaching staff. They sha better utilize the window in January. We all want fit ballers. But we should anticipate worst case scenarios as much as the peak of our calibre so we don't get caught unawares like last season.

I know I am way too far ahead of myself. Assuming we qualify, and we have to take 18 players. Baring injuries, this is what I think, 2 GKs, 6 DFs, 5 MFs, 5 FWs.
This is what I think;
Gks
1. Nnadozie
2. Oluehi
DFs
3. Alozie
4. Ohale
5. Demehin
6. Plumptre
7. Imuran
8. Akudo/Nicole Payne* ( I feel we need 4 CBs instead of just 3, NP will mean 3CBs, perhaps Ayinde/Ucheibe could play as a spare CB if push comes to shove
MFs)
9. Toni Payne
10. Ucheibe
11. Ayinde
12. Abiodun*
13. Echegini/Effih/Onyenezide
FWs
14. Oshoala
15. Kanu*
16. Onumonu*
17. Rashidat Ajibade
18. Monday Gift/Rinsola/Esther Okoronkwo

Actually I think Oshoala and Rashida are the only ones guaranteed of a spot baring injuries and team or NFF politics as forwards.
* In my opinion, these names are not guaranteed, the other guys being paired up may just fight for a space with them.

If we qualify, I don't envy the coach making the final team selection.

The fact that this is our 2nd loss overall and first in our English domain is what should make you understand why we dey para.

By January, we expect at least 5 exits. Will they be replaced or na excuse go follow them till we finish 3rd or whatever? Against a team like WestHam, you dey rely on Jorg? And we also should not forget how Moyes is one of the managers that tweak tactics in-game in EPL. Woh. If rubbish is getting favoured, then anyone can use barest minimum in an argument against it. Simple.
It is the way we lost that is even more painful. I remember that famous match against United. That was one of De Gea's best performances. We have outplayed them but De Gea stood in the way.

Yesterday, even at 2 goal down, na so so useless passing. No bite... nothing.

Jorginho started against Chelsea, Man city (first leg), Aston Villa, Newcastle and they was very few or no complaints from guys here.
I remember when Blueray (I think) said we need Jorginho this season for squad depth and that he couldn't imagine himself saying so before

It's the reason why I said you were too harsh on Arteta when he started against Chelsea this season cos same Jorginho have started for us in big matches and they were few complaints those times.

Lol... I notice recently like jumping into different things Tbh.
You talked about ESR and how he underwhelmed during the weekend save for his "six yard pass assist" as you put it, yet he's not receiving Backlash.

That was exactly what I laughed at cos it's very funny and not true. Nothing concern me concern Nelson cos I didn't even watch ystdy match to have a strong opinion on anything. Heck ESR didn't even play ystdy

My matter was that weekend match you felt Esr didn't do anything yet didn't receive backlash compared to Havertz.

And yes, we'll always talk about Havertz because he's the one given unmerited favour esp as a starter. If Jorginho, Nelson, kiwi are mostly starters, we'll come for them too.
It's a normal stuff.

By the way, Kiwi and ESR played good game during the weekend
Fact is if I had not mentioned Havertz in my post, you wouldn't have disputed. I still put it to you that during the weekend, none of those players actually did something exceptional. Go and search the player ratings from different sites. Aside that 6 yard assist, ESR did nothing exceptional. We played against a poor Sheffield team so their lapses wouldn't show.

You said Havertz was given an unmerited starting shirt, who do you think would have started in his place? We just pack Otus as backups but na Havertz we dey bash.

Infact make Arsenal sell or loan Havertz by January. That's when most will realize the players we all vouch to start ahead of him are flops.

I lost count of how many times Vieira should have cross or even shoot yesterday but he rather passed back. Nelson can't even get past his marker.
