Jodera: Lol... Been following this debate tho, and I'll say both sides are right in their own way. But here's my view.
First thing first, I think the decision makers saw iwobi as a winger and not really an heir to ozil, else I don't think they would have sold him. Also, remember, part of iwobi's money was used to fund Pepe's deal for him to come (they see pepe as an upgrade to iwobi as a winger), plus the money was good to turn down. While Pepe is Manning that wing, Nelson is been prepared as Pepe back up(reason he wasn't sent out on loan again).
So if you look at it critically, you won't blame the board for selling iwobi. Moreover, Emery never liked the number 10-role, and he was expected to stay long(not sacked at arsenal), iwobi also love the no 10 role, which Emery can never grant him that. So all these coupled with that, the sale of iwobi makes sense to both arsenal and iwobi, since iwobi feels he'll see the number 10 role at Everton (it was barely vacant there, as sigurdsson was struggling, and iwobi was viewed like an upgrade or competition to him)
Also, what made you think Arteta would have used or improved iwobi the way you sound certain @mostob. I mean, torreira have all the qualities needed for a DM, yet Arteta isn't looking at him. So we can't be so sure too.
This shouldn't cause arguments sha between us, Iwobi is gone, we're hoping on Aouar, and if bought, we hope he performs more than expectation. Iwobi might still even be used in the wing sef if he was Here, who knows?. After all, he hasn't played Am for us for once (nor can I remember any). So we should just chill. The bargain was right for both parties at the onset, and the money wasn't expected to upgrade the Am position but the wing(and it was). Now that we need and also upgrade the Am, it is time to go for it. So no biggie at all.
Coyg!! You have a point. but... 1. Ozil ,willock and sometimes Torreira were playing the no 10 role while Iwobi was playing the LB. 2. I'm sorry to say, Torreira doesn't have the required height to play the DM role. He would have been our new Santi (in CM) but he doesn't have the ball playing skill. 3. Ozil et al were supposed to fill the Iwobi void but they were all inconsistent. Pepe that was brought in didn't help either...Thank God for saka that at least create some chances. 4. Pepe transfer fee was paid installmentally while we received €40M immediately from Iwobi sale so that was never a like for like replacement. 5. All in all, the inability to properly replace Iwobi was what made me implied that his sale was a wrong move. Make we dead the talk abeg |

But is that the reason he hasn't played for Fulham yet? Cus the coach is considering him for CB? Probably or maybe he is trying to settle down. |

Oga Isan .... I understand what you're insinuating but it was too early. Even when he didn't score yesterday, I was worried too because the fans may not be patient with him . But you got all it wrong bringing Tammy into this. Giroud couldn't scored a single goal at the world cup but he still get to play almost 80% of their match. Does that make him bad? No. As a striker, it is a matter of what you can bring even when the goals aren't coming. The 2 matches Osimhen played, he didn't score but his impact was felt in that match. Now the question is Can Tammy has such influence? What else can he offer apart from goals? |

BlueRayDick: Good! I'm glad you agreed Selling an average player for good money is a good move. But do you also know that replacing such player with another average player would've been counter productive? Arsenal probably decided to keep the money while promoting youth like Reiss Nelson to the flanks(Where Iwobi has continued to struggle), promote Willock to the middle (Who has been as inconsistent as Iwobi was) and getting Ceballos on loan.
Now if Arsenal feels they have found a replacement who would be worth every penny we are willing to pay, I dont see any issue with that. You really need to allow Aouar play before you know whether he's an upgrade or not. I'm not against Aouar but paying €50M for such a player when there is still a major loophole (Partey?) in our midfield is kinda somehow taking into context, the lack of funds too. And TBH ,I watched some of his highlights, I don't see him as an upgrade to Iwobi. Now, imagine Iwobi still at arsenal, the Aouar fee will instead be used to fund partey move and the major loophole will be solved. And pls, willock can never match iwobi and Nelson plays different role so I don't see any comparison here. And I ask , has these guys effectively filled Iwobi's shoe since he left? |

I still insist we didn't miss it regret selling iwobi Well your opinion matters and mine also Selling an average player for a good money is not a bad move but failing to properly replace him made it a wrong move considering we have no good alternatives at that time. This is simple and straightforward na . I'm not against his sale but failing to replace him with an upgrade is the issue. Imagine we are paying €50M for Aouar... Spy360: You saw it too.
Iwobi improving under Arteta is still tentative and probable. But when you see how Sterling improved with his shooting under Pep/Arteta you have belief that Iwobi can improve too.
I supported the sale of Iwobi because the money was good. But our failure to land a better player with the proceeds was the ish. Iwobi would have improved under Arteta and arsenal might have probably use this Aouar fee to secure other positions (especially DM) Your last paragraph is what I was talking about. His sale was at the wrong time even if the money was good. Especially when you consider we only have Ozil and Willock as our #10. If we had properly replaced him, it might have been understandable. |

The Era of players turning out to be theo Walcott has gone. You don't live up to expectations; u move! If Iwobi was around, survived Emery and happened to be at Emirates with Arteta at the helm, we all, nobody on here can say crap. Rather we'll be singing high praises at how Mikel has madr Iwobi a better player, and insult Emery further.
Maybe we judge Iwobi by goals that's why he seem ordinary to us. We seem yo forget that even with Auba on the pitch, it got to a point that we had no chances created till Iwobi came on.
Well he's at Everton, and suddenly he looks so bad and many saying he was crap. Smh. That was fast.

Frank Onyeka l don't know much about, one thing l do know if you are outstanding in a lower league better teams from higher leagues come for you.
This is his 4th consecutive season and he is still in the Danish league with Midtjylland fc, that is a league that's more or less on par with the English league one. He is getting paid a pittance, so he should be hungry if not for football success then £££€€€. Why is he still therein thus backwater league ❓ Because he is too good ❓
Samson Tijani has signed with Austrian side Red Bull, how many games has he played to justify a call up to the SE ❓ .
Selection to the Senior national team should be by merit. Not by speculative projection.
My suspicion which is not without substance and l have said this before. When you play for the youth national team in Nigeria particularly the U17. This becomes a big opportunity for European football. As a consequence you will have sponsors or Godfathers within the NFF. Which is the DNA of most activities in Nigeria, it's simply corruption.
This means you will be given undue favour to boost your career. Because a huge benefit is coming the way of your sponsors.
Below a excerpt from a report on the matter of Tijani, we can see obvious CONFLICT OF INTEREST.
Make up your own mind.
As previously reported by this website, a top NFF official based in Lagos, Dotun Coker, who is the Chairman Technical Committee Lagos State Football Association, Siji Lagunju of the NFF Technical Department and Chief Joseph Uzoma Ebowusim will receive monetary payments for the transfer of the defensive midfielder. Who ask you? All these are mere epistle. If they perform excellently and receive another call up for November double header, go and remove their names. |

BlueRayDick: I asked you for "facts and figures" showing he was "our best playmaker". Abi shey playmaker na by mouth?
We have thrashed that okpata yarns about "Ìwobi's sale being wrong" over and over here. You are talking about Ozil being inconsistent like say Ìwobi's best output is not just 6 assists in a season which is even a one-off . If inconsistency was a drug I tell u, Iwobi was on overdose of it while at Arsenal. He was on the way to pulling a Walcott on us ; remaining as a potential till he is in his late 20's when to sell him for 10 million sef will be Herculean task.
I honestly don't know where you suddenly got this notion of Ìwobi being the best thing after slice bread o.
Which void would Ìwobi have filled free of charge? . Arsenal fans sef ehn. When we had many average players here and there and we couldn't compete with local rivals in competitive match we were complaining about the crop of players we had in dem Ìwobi and Co..... Now the club is trying to change that narrative and bring in players that have proven records to assist build a team that compete both in the league and Europe we are suddenly hearing of Ìwobi's audio exploits. I can agree with you on any other thing ó, but saying Ozil's sale was wrong lailai. Calm down Oga, If arsenal had used the proceed from his sale to replace him, it would have been understandable. An ambitious club will never sold Iwobi when there are no proper replacements. And please don'tmention Ozil and Willock.
