We are not saying the same things. The examples you gave do not point to prayer being reason for the show or power, something that would clearly contradict God's own Laws where His people are concerned. undecided

If you truly read what I wrote up there earlier, you would realize that the same point you're trying to make has been explicitly represented. There are examples laid out there with bible verses. It would do you no harm to read them.

Wrong! You receive power of the Spirit of God when God Himself decides it so,not as a result of you praying for it. undecided

On the day of pentecost, where you told that the disciples where praying for the Spirit of God to come down? There is no evidence of them doing any such. undecided
Sure the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avalileth much but no amount of prayer can make you righteous in the sight of God. undecided

Congratulations man... You have succeeded in reviving a thread that has long gone into a six (6) years sleep or perhaps hiatus!

Believe it or not, there is no receiving without asking! The only thing that creates an equilibrium between these two acts is the will behind a request or let's put it in this way; the purpose for which a request is made. In some rare cases, some receive even before they ask.

Why is this?... This is because the purpose for which they need those blessings have long being fulfilled either directly or indirectly, before any request was (or is to be) ever made. Example: Bezaleel - Exodus 31:3-5... Noah - Genesis 6:1-8... The Ethiopian Eunuch - Acts 8:26-40

Now take a look at this; In that same Acts 8:9-25, we are made to understand that if the will or purpose behind a request does not create an alignment or an equilibrium between the simple acts of asking and receiving, such requests will go unattended to. Case in point is that of Simon the Sorcerer as seen in Acts 8:9-25... This point is further buttressed in James 4:3

As regards your quote about the day of Pentecost, seriously I am not hear to argue with anybody... I would only implore you to take a delve with me into some passages of the Bible. The book of Acts for a proper start.

Acts 1:1-8 - Highlights the Instructions/Commands and Promise.

Acts 1:9-11 - Highlights a well needed jolt back to focus. The gaze of the disciples were still on Jesus Christ in the course of the Ascension, they had fears that needed to be allayed, they had doubts that needed to be erased because He was no longer with them. The jolt was to bring them back to awareness. To wait on the promise of God, to tap into the process of waiting on God in prayers. Isaiah 40:29-31.

Acts 1:12-26 - Highlights the process. Emphasis on 1:14(a) - The process is the content.

Acts 2:1- 4 - Highlights the result of that process. Emphasis on ch2:1(b)

In one accord... In agreement in prayer...

Remember this was lacking in the disciples as highlighted in Mark 9:17-29 and Matthew 17:14-21.

If this is a well thought through plan as described above, and with the right commitment being channeled into it. I would gladly say Ogun State is well positioned for strategic development with this.
Business / Re: Is Lagos A Good Place To Build A Refinery Like Dangote Refinery? by motherlode: 11:59am On Mar 21, 2021
BlueSparks:

I'm not even looking at the crude waste which I want to believe they'll have schematics in its blueprints to accommodate waste disposal

What about the heat it generates?

I am also glad there is a focus shift away from the aspect of crude waste. However, this area shouldn't be totally ignored.

About that heat of a thing?

The truth is that there is no certainty that this won't happen again in Lagos with respect to the refinery being built. I schooled in Badagry (A boarding secondary school in between Iworo and Ajido community) and i can categorically tell you that we felt tortured by the heat waves emitted due to excessive gas flaring from West African Gas Pipeline Company Ltd (WAGPCo) jointly owned by Chevron West African Gas Pipeline Ltd, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Shell Overseas Holdings Limited, Takoradi Power Company Limited, Societe Togolaise de Gaz and Societe BenGaz S.A.. You can imagine in a boarding school where we couldn't sleep in our hostels due to abnormal heat and low air quality, we had to make do with the front of our classrooms and the open fields. Just so pathetic!

The communities are still being affected today and nothing is being done as we speak. So many agitations yet no result! The fact that institutions in this country don't check the gross inadequacies of these companies is a big blow on how much justice the communities around can get.

The Nigerian legislation with respect to gas flaring as stipulated in 1969 mandates every company to cease such acts within 5 years of establishment. There was zero achievement with this legislation and another was set up in 1979 called the Associated Gas Re-Injection Act Number 99 of 1979, where the Nigerian government required oil corporations operating in Nigeria to guarantee zero flares by January 1, 1984. I don't need to tell you this is 2021 already!

Besides, do you also know that the Nigerian government makes money from gas flaring. The Act as established in 1979 allowed some conditions for specific exemptions or the payment of a fee which as subsequently shot up to $3.50 for every 1000 standard cubic feet of gas flared as at January, 2008. These fines are quite very easy to pay by these companies given the fact that majority of these fines would still go unremitted!

Last time i checked, Nigeria is the 6th largest gas flaring country in the world and the 2nd largest in Africa. In 2016, a 2020 target was set to achieve zero gas flaring by the then minister of state for petroleum (Ibe Kachukwu)... This is 2021, gas is still being flared heavily and rumour says there is another push for 2030!

We will get there someday!

yomi007k:

Can you guarantee safety and security in those areas?

If you were Dangote, can you put your money in such a place? I hope you have done businesses before. Supervision and management alone is a serious task.

It is enough risk building a refinery. It is much bigger risk siting them in such locations.

And if you are talking about impact on environment, I am sure they wont want to be negligent as alot of educated persons are around and will be ready to take it up.

You made some very valid points...

As we know today, the knowledge gap is quite different now. It would only be folly on the side of Lagos state government and the surrounding environment if a repeat of what happened or is currently happening in Niger Delta surfaces in Lagos.

I certainly don't want to believe that the citizenry will be as negligent as they were many years back.

bros can a nigerian typical house with cement and rods be lifted and transported like this?

Quite funny but I don't think so...

Just three days ago... I was wondering how and why wood housing became an identity to the Americans despite worries about deforestation here.

My little research made me know wood housing is much more affordable to them due to large availability of materials for initial construction and repairs. Besides, Americans are very mobile people... One day they are here and the other they are not.

Interesting to know that wood also exhibit low thermal conductivity and the Americans pay little tax on wood housing as compared to building concrete houses.

Amazing, my father told me exactly the opposite of what yours said, also my father told me that under buhari, inflation was on over speed, bread climbed from 10k to 70k, a 700% increase, 80% of the reserve was looted, and a two weeks window was given to change the currency, many people could not meet up, especially northern farmers, who because of their remote locations, could not access banks easily, and the economy of Nigeria and especially the north crashed like Goliath, and then recession quietly slipped in. All these crisis happening at the same time resulted in Nigerian currency crashing heavily against the dollar, sounds familiar to what's happening today.

Bro Jude...

Many years down the lane... One can't help but believe that the candidature of M. Buhari has been inimical to the sustainability of the Nigerian Economy at large. The facts are just so glaring for anyone who wouldn't try to rob himself of the truth due to little overpriced projects here and there.

To be honest i was a little disappointed with the quantity, because here in the North I'm used to getting large quantity for the same price. I guess the tomato season is almost over that's why.

What do you think guys? Fair or not for such amount?

Although this isn't a movie, Ajoche deserves a mention. Whoever wrote the script for this series deserves an award.

As long as village/pre-modern Nollywood shows or movies are concerned, Ajoche stands above all of them.

Also, the fist fights and death scenes in Ajoche are the best I've seen in any Nigerian motion picture.

Thank you for this mention... I was so going to do that too.

However, i can't just forget to mention Saworo Ide, Ti Oluwa Ni Ile, Maami and The Bridge...

Pure works of brilliance... The storyline and acting was very good, maybe except chidinma's performance in The Bridge. However, altogether these movies were dope.
