A Footnote to Saraki's Victory By Pius Adesanm Hearty and warm congratulations to Senate President, His Excellency Alhaji Chief Bukola Saraki, who has, once again, earned a commendable victory over the people of Nigeria. He has been defeating the Nigerian people since the days of his robbery at Societe-Generale Bank, through eight years of massive robbery as Governor of Kwara State, onward to aloota continua in the Senate. Every attempt to make him pay for his crimes has failed. Because of our system. Because of who we are. I want to move on quickly to an inconsequential footnote to Saraki's victory at the tribunal today. A few days ago, a life was reportedly lost in Kogi state. I understand he was a Polytechnic student. He lost his life to the fracas between His Excellencies Dino Melaye, Smart Adeyemi, and Yahaya Bello. There has been a lot of back and forth between the feuding parties. However, the most important thing is that a life was lost on Dino's account. He went to Kogi to taunt his opponents. Today, there will be jubilation and celebration in Saraki's ranks in Abuja. There will be rivers of champagne. There will be chops. And the obligatory well endowed light skinned concubines and girlfriends will be available in abundance. Dino will be there as Saraki's body guard and choreographer of events. The student who died this week on his account and all those injured while rallying for politicians and taking sides are a footnote. They will not be remembered even for one second in the middle of the celebrations. Your victorious oppressors will always celebrate over your graves and broken bones until you borrow yourselves brain and stop tearing at each other on account of these people. I promise that dead student; I promise the injured this: should political calculations towards 2019 necessitate strategic realignments and kissing and making up, you may yet see Saraki, Dino, Smart, and Yahaya Bello on the same campaign podium, hugging and back-patting. Keep fighting. Keep dying for them. I will always be ready to chronicle their victories. And your broken bones. And your lost lives. Ko si problem.a |

Some suspects who were allegedly caught while perpetrating certain irregularities in the ongoing registration for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations have reportedly confessed to spending over N 20 m to construct a radio platform with which they hacked into JAMB ’s registration portal . Saturday PUNCH had reported that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrested no less than five individuals who had deployed fake biometric capturing machines to register applicants . The Spokesperson of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Dr . Fabian Benjamin , in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, said, “These registration thieves deployed fake biometric capturing mechanisms and super -imposed registration slips just to satisfy the curiosity of innocent candidates that their registration was successful . “And on the day of examination , such candidates ’ data would either be edited, or not found on the JAMB data base . “Such candidates would not be verified during the examination proper . ” Benjamin disclosed that the fraudsters were arrested variously in Oyo, Ogun and Maiduguri by officers and men of the NSCDC and brought to Abuja . During their interrogations in Abuja , Benjamin said, the suspects gave startling revelations of how they conducted their operations . “While being paraded in the presence of the Commandant -General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Mohamadu , the fraudsters confessed to numerous registration infractions that JAMB couldn ’t imagine,” Benjamin said. https://punchng.com/breaking-we-spent-n20m-to-hack-into-jamb-registration-portal-suspects/amp/

MY QUESTIONS TO ALL GRADUATES By LAWAL Abdullateef. It was a dream come when we gained admission into tertiary institutions, it was more beautiful and emotional when we finally graduated and were posted to serve our fatherland. Haha that pad on our shoulders and pride on faces when we were called Corpers. Q1. To those of us that think education is the ultimate key to success, Now service is over or about to be over what have we achieved with our qualifications? Q2. Do we really need to further our education having it in mind that our qualifications are our assets to success? Q3. Is it disastrous to ask someone to go to school, get good grades and secure a good job? Q4. What else can we do without our qualifications? Please let be sincere and articulated with our answers. |

EMIR OF KANO
LAMIDO SANUSI
BLASTS POLITICAL
OFFICE HOLDERS
And Governor Yahaya Bello Regrets Emir Sanusi
Lamido' s Appearance .
The Emir Sanusi Lamido known for blunt and
ouspoken, outshine the Governor Yahaya Bello , in
his own words Lamido said:
"I am here because Inspector General of Police the
man who performed well in Kano as Commissioner
of Police invited me. As a traditional ruler, I don't
embrace political gathering" he remarked. Without
wasting time he boldly congratulates GYB, he then
went further to confronts the man of the day with a
question still begging for an answer " I am not happy
with what am hearing about you, how do you ensure
security when you are not paying workers salaries ?"
The already known outspoken Emir urged Bello not
to build the castles In the air and advised against
unfulfilled promises . The statement the pundit said
didn't go down well with Gov.Yahaya Bello as his
physical appearance suddenly Changed and the face
that was wearing smile put on a very disappointing
looks.
The Summary of the Emir Speech"
"My advice to his Excellency is to remember that to
whom much is given, much is expected. For all of us
in positions of authority, whether governor, emirs,
police commissioners, the president and chairman of
local government, councillor, we must remember
that over 170 million Nigerians were created by God
and when God chooses us and put us in these
positions, it is not because he does not love those not
given the position.
"In fact, it is because he loves them that we were
appointed to SERVE them. The responsibilities come
with the realization that we are there not for
ourselves but for those who are not there. This is the
first test of leadership and that is what public service
is all about.
"If there is anything that has destroyed this country,
it is because people are thinking that offices are for
themselves and their families but it is not. We were
given offices for those who are not in office; we were
given office to not sleep so that they may sleep. We
were given office so that you can go hungry so that
they may eat.
"You were given office so that you stay awake fearful
of what may happen to them so that they may sleep
in peace. People who think that they are in office to
enjoy, to have sound sleep, to have a comfortable
life are the worst leaders ever.
"So, I say to the governor and myself and to all of us
who have a responsibility to the people to fear God
and do the needful. The prophet of Islam has one
Hadith about leadership that is very frightening.
One of the Hadith of the Prophet (SAW) states that
leadership is a trust and on the day of judgment, it is
going to be a source of humiliation and regrets.
Everyone must be aware that there will be a day an
account will be given of the privileges of office."
Just like a man whose feeling was badly hurt, Bello'
response speech was full of errors and self repetition
as he keep calling his royal highnesses as your
Excellencies.
Our Emirs, other traditional fathers , Elders and
opinion leaders across the country to emulate Emir
Lamido Sanusi.
Bravo Sanusi.
Sticking to the Truth can be a lonely path, especially
in our present time. Don't despair, for Allah supports
those who are Truthful.
Food for thought
Iam yours indeed.
Please have a pleasant day |

babyphaze07:Ok What will government gain from killing southern Kaduna villagers? |
In the last few months, clashes between Fulani herdsmen and locals in southern Kaduna, have also led to destruction of property. NEMA is giving the figure weeks after a religious group gave a higher figure. The Catholic Church had earlier said 808 people were killed as of December 2016, a figure disputed by the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris. Mr Idris did not however give a contrary number. The Catholic Church also said 1,422 houses, 16 Churches, 19 shops, and one primary school were destroyed. Premium Times quoted NEMA’s North West zonal Coordinator, Musa Ilella, as saying that the figure was for two Local Government Areas where the attacks have occurred – Kafanchan and Chikun LGAs. The figure covers October, November and December, 2016 and early January, 2017, he said. “Four districts in Kafanchan LGA namely: Linte ,Goska,Dangoma and Kafanchan town recorded 194 deaths. “Chikun LGA on the other hand recorded about 10 deaths, making a total of 204 so far,” he said. Mr Ilella said there was no record of any injured victim in the hospital. Governor Nasir El-Rufai had said the attackers were foreign Fulani herdsmen , who were avenging past attacks on them and their livestock. The State and Federal Governments have been accused of not doing enough to end the killings. In an effort to restore peace to the area, the Nigerian government last week announced the deployment of anti-riot police and soldiers to Southern Kaduna On Friday, a peace committee led by former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar , visited Kaduna State and appealed to all aggrieved parties affected in the violent attacks to sheathe their swords and tolerate each other for the interest of peace in the state. www.channelstv.com/2017/01/13/southern-kaduna-crisis-nigerian-govt-says-204-killed/ |
