Esude007:You are doing well OP. Following with keen interest, great and educative thread. I am 100% novice in sesame arena. I have lots of questions to ask you. 1. What is the avg weight of the bag that sells for 150k? 2. Someone mentioned grade 1 sesame, what is the yardstick for the grading? Or how do you ensure your produce comes out with good grade? 3. Is it also used in preparing soup like Egusi? 4. How is it harvested?. 5. Does it also need peeling/de-husking like melon/rice? Cc: willybaby |
GideonOludayomi:Choose to reply u on a dormant thread. I know one Johnson who bears ur 2nd name from Emure, Owo town. |
vonlogon:Lol. U are not nice at all. |
GideonOludayomi:Are u Mr J from EMR, WWW. |
buygala:I actually thought the video would help to cut cost as pa fuel. Capital nonsense! |
Esude007:Is it too hard for you to share what you know in the public domain for others to learn? Must everything be monetized Mr consultant? emmaodet:I will agree with planting till early Sept, but will not agree with the bolded. Beyond Sept 10 is not safe to plant. We had a little disappointment from a tractor oprator that made us to plant our corn Sept 15 last year in SW. It did not do well cos there was no single rain in Nov. We managed to get scanty rain in Oct. Though we did not run at loss, the yield was below expectations despite planting drought resistant hybrid. |

Dadadididacontr:You really tried man. 2 times manual weeding of 15 acres of veggies is not cost effective. In my area labourers charge almost 20k per acre. There are some pre emergence herbicides that are veggie friendly that u can mix with that your contact herbicide that will reduce your manual weeding to one time. You can lay your hands on products that contain either pendimethalin or Metholachlor as a.i. If you are not comfortable using them, u may experiment with one or two plots of the whole portion of the farm and compare with your usual method. if you spray well, esp on a moist soil , u will definitely see the diff. |
Tohsynetita1:He said it's 15 acres. if you have farmed up to 1 acre before, you will not be be mentioning those methods. |
shariff84:why dropping at Ore when trucks going to Ore will need to pass through Ife first, i have received order from ore truck before or are they not taking ife route again? |
Dadadididacontr:Nice one , your farm looks neat and weed-free. most melon farm i had visited always are always full of weeds, it appears farmers find it hard to control weed once the vines start tangling. will you mind sharing how you manage to control your weed on that large acreage.? |
Redomi:You mean you bought the seed extracted from the hybrid fruit? if yes, the seed has become 2nd generation (F2) and not first generation. hybrid seed are called first generation (F1). |
Olurashy:i did not notice this your post before i dropped my last post up there. At 51k, your vendor is still considerate, most vendor sell between 55k to 60k. |
lereinter:Yea, that is the reason i saluted the courage of the guy cos majority of our markets dont appreciate the value. just like he has rightly buttressed. imagine a farmer buying a product of 1000 seed counts(which is less than 10g) @N55k/N60k and another farmer buying hybrid say avenir, 50g @N50k/N55k, at the end of the harvests, buyers want to buy at same rate from them... this is worrisome. Also, if farmer "A" want to plant like one acre, meaning he will need to buy like 5 packs of the 1k seed count amounting to almost N300,000. |
Olurashy:Healthy plants and good fruits you have there. why not move your pepper to market instead of selling in bit/per kg, this is a perishable goods bro and you are surrounded by lots of markets like ibadan, abeokuta, sango and the rest. pepper is currently hot cake cos northern supply is diminishing and south pepper will start hitting markets fully by june. how many stands give you this harvest? i have about 4k stands but still at the fruiting stage. you get mind for this your variety sha, israeli products and price hike... i feel 1k seed @around N60k is outrageous. |
