No person will travel from the SE to go and kidnap somebody from Kogi. This is impossible without an insider. But I dare say that the puported kidapping Of Lulu's mum is actually fake. They hid their mom so that Lulu will get sympathy/repreive from govt for the looting of the NFA. Everything about the so-called kidnapping of the woman was shrouded in mystery. Firest they claimed the kidnappers were in Abia and now they claimed the woman was released in Enugu. How did the Abia kidnappers move the woman to Enugu with the VERY HEAVY Police presence now in the entire south east. When they saw that their gimmick and deception is not working, they released their mother from where they hid her. Lulu can manipulate all he likes, he must still go to jail for stealing and pillaging. LULU is not bigger than TAFA Balogun and Bode George. |
How many of these Delta State Kidnappers are Igbo? The police and operatives of the State Security Service in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested a total of 21 suspected kidnappers and 25 cultists. While the Delta Command of the Police picked up 17 suspected kidnappers and 25 culprits from different parts of the state, the SSS in Abuja nabbed four suspects who allegedly abducted a civil servant and a businessman. The Delta suspects were paraded before newsmen in Asaba, the state capital, on Tuesday, as a prelude to their arraignment in court for prosecution. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Yakubu Alkali, gave the names of the victims of the suspected kidnappers to include Madams Afuenya Abaja and Elizabeth Ngeligu as well as Mrs. Stella Dafinone, Mrs. Queen Ogboru and Mrs. Malechi Odozi. Alkali said the suspected kidnappers were apprehended from different locations in the state, adding that the feat was made possible by the support of members of the public who volunteered information to the security agency. He said the gang which abducted Queen and Odozi had demanded N400,000 and N30,000 ransom sums respectively, before the police swooped on them at a hide-out. He identified the suspected kidnappers to include, Fedelis Ojugbale, Chinedu Oruya, Ediki Ogeraga, Julius Onoameya, Odrehohwo Egieta, Lucky Atunusha, Henry Owokpite, Favour Akpowma and Nicholas Odu. Others, according to Delta CP are: Fidelis Ochuko, Kelvin Itejere, Kelly Ochuko Jonathan, Joseph Enakpodia, and Daniel Akeghe. Furthermore, Alkali stated that Madams Abaja and Ngeligu were kidnapped by a12-man gang at Umukwuata in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state. In the Abuja arrests, the suspects were at the point of collecting the N500,000 ransom they demanded from the families of their victims when they were nabbed by SSS operatives. The members of the kidnap gang include Ifeanyi Chukwuka, Ezebunwa Ogbonna (a.k.a Oceanic), Nkem Nna, and James Chinweikpe. Parading the suspected kidnappers in Abuja on Tuesday, the SSS Director, FCT Command Headquarters, Mr. Mike Fubara, said they had asked for a ransom of N50m through their leader, identified as Chukwudi who was still at large, before reducing it to N.5m. According to Fubara, investigation have shown that most kidnap cases in the FCT were perpetrated by non –residents who lodged in small hotels in the suburbs, posing as construction workers which enable them to come and go at will without the management of such hotels suspecting their activities. While promising that the service, alongside other security operatives would do everything possible to rid the FCT of such hoodlums, Fubara appealed to members of the public to always alert security operatives on the activities of persons they suspect. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201007214145340 |

Lawmakers ask robbers to declare temporary ceasefire By Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji October 29, 2009 01:50AMT print email The Ogun State House of Assembly on Wednesday appealed to armed robbers operating in the state and neighbouring ones to suspend their activities in the light of the junior World Cup going on in the country. The Assembly reminded the robbers that any of their operations during the period of the tournament will give the country a bad name, as several foreign visitors are in the country now. Ogun is one of the states hosting teams in the competition. The lawmakers agreed to beg the bandits during deliberations on the floor of the House, at their Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta complex. A member, Edward Ayo Odugbesan had raised an alarm that the Isheri bridge, which links Ogun with Lagos State, has become a den of bandits. Mr. Odugbesan said there is a need for the men of the underworld to suspend their operations in the interim, because of the on-going mundial. The Ijebu-Ode International Stadium is one of the centres being used for the competition. “I want to appeal to the men of the underworld to suspend their actions and operations in the interim because of our foreign visitors currently in the state,” he said. “Then they can resume thereafter, because there is nowhere in the world where robbers and robberies could be stopped from their work.” He then called on his colleagues to support his call on the armed bandits to soft-pedal because the situation is becoming worrisome. “If foreigners witness the robbers’ attacks at this point, it would send a bad signal to other nations,” he said. Police wake up Reacting to Mr. Odugbesan’s call, the Speaker, Tunji Egbetokun, called on the police leadership to intensify efforts in ensuring that security is maintained in the state. “I want to use the opportunity to call on the police to intensify efforts in checkmating criminals. They should please not relent in the efforts,” he said. In a related development, the Assembly ordered the head of the Local Government Administration of Obafemi-Owode to appear before it next Wednesday for clarification on the budget and expenditure of the council. The local government official was said to have dodged previous invitations over the past three months – a development which the Assembly faulted at its session yesterday. The lawmakers, therefore, directed the Clerk of the House, Demola Badejo, to write the official on the matter and direct him to report before it. 234next.com |

Yoruba community in Anambra State condemns kidnap of 21 Igbo traders By Okey Maduforo, Correspondent, Awka Yoruba community in Anambra State, under the umbrella of Egbe Omo Oduduwa has condemned the alleged kidnap of 21 Igbo traders in Owo, Ondo State, warning that it is a threat on the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigeria as a nation. The traders were allegedly kidnapped last Friday by three militant groups known as Palace Boys, Eyin Ogbe Boys and Iloro Youths, who demanded millions of naira as ransom before they would be released. The militants had last year kidnapped 16 Igbo traders before the latest incident which led to a petition to the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Charles Dawodu, by Ndigbo in the community. Speaking with Daily Independent in Awka, Anambra State, the chairman of **Egbe Omo Oduduwa** in the area Baba Tunde Adegbenjo, said the incident sends danger signals, adding that there is no state in the country that do not have militants. "We want to condemn the action and attitude of these militants. We have militants all over the federation and they should consider the fact that if they continue with this other people will revenge and when they do, it becomes crisis everywhere. "So we are not happy with the attitude of our people back home who gather themselves together and call themselves militants. "The relation of any of those victims would look for people around to kidnap and those of us outside the Yoruba land or non-indigenes generally would become victims. If this type of thing continues we will have no option but to point to the residence of part of Yoruba land where these activities are taking place. "The place where it happened is Owo community, so instead of allowing them to go and revenge on Ogwoko man or Akure or Ondo town, we will now point to the residence of the Owo people among us; so that they will go and pick them. This is because things like this spread like wild fire and we will not allow that to happen." Adegbenjo further noted that security is very important in business interaction and such a thing can affect business between visitors and owners of the land. "If an Igboman do not feel safe to do business in Yoruba land they will not go there and those of us in Igbo land will not be comfortable and these are the type of incident we experienced some time ago, when the Hausa people had problems with the Igbos and many lives were lost. "We do not want this type of thing and this is how it starts. So we have to tell our people to stop all these nonsense they are doing. It will not discourage economic development and sound interpersonal relationship in the country." He urged the Ondo State government to take action quickly to protect the interest of the Igbo in the area as Yoruba and other ethnic groups are being protected in the South East zone; adding that the people at the zone and their respective governments have been friendly and displayed the spirit of brotherhood among visitors and settlers in Igbo land. http://odili.net/news/source/2008/sep/18/704.html |

Wahab is lucky. Igbo people have been kidnapped in the south west before by Yoruba. You were the first in kidnapping people from other tribes. |

Wahab Oba. The name sounds familair with financial corruption infested ethnic group. I am sure he would have prefered to be kidnapped and at least remain a victim rather than now that he is a culprit of corruption |
Ogidiboy, do some math here Oyo, Imo, Ogun, others lead in armed robbery By Yusuf Alli Published Today News Rating: Unrated Armed robbery cases are more pronounced in seven of the 36 states, it was learnt yesterday. The states are Oyo, Imo, Ogun, Kano, Cross River, Rivers and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The crime figures, which are contained in the 2008 Report of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), are based on cases reported to the police as at the end of 2007. The breakdown of the armed robbery cases in the seven states, as at 2007 ending, is as follows: Oyo (224); FCT (172); Imo (176); Rivers (145); Cross River (137); Kano (108); and Ogun (107). But while Lagos State recorded a drastic fall in armed robbery cases from 300 to 70, eight states had less than 28 armed robbery incidents. The states are: Gombe(27); Benue(27); Plateau(26); Kwara(25); Sokoto(24); Jigawa(16); Kebbi(20); and Yobe(20). The ratings of others are: Abia(89); Adamawa(96); Akwa Ibom(88); Anambra(96); Bauchi(41); Bayelsa(52); Borno(41); Delta(63); Ebonyi(51); and Edo(79). Others are Ekiti(85); Kaduna(40); Katsina(31); Kogi(41); Nasarawa(36); Niger(32); Ondo(58); Osun(51); Taraba(80); Although it could not be ascertained why the 2007 figure for Enugu State was not listed, a source said: "we had 44 cases for the state as at 2006." The source in the NBS, who spoke in confidence with The Nation, said the figures are "the current official records/data which any institution or person could work with." "We based our statistics on the five-year data provided by the Nigeria Police Force and the period in question had covered 2003 to 2007 for comparison. But the latest figure will be that of 2007 which we have produced as a report that is already in circulation in government and public. "We got far-reaching statistics from the police including the numbers of persons arrested; those prosecuted for robbery; suspects awaiting trial; civilians killed by armed robbers; armed robbers killed by the police; the injured robbers; and cases pending investigation. "The statistics is not meant to ridicule any state but it will assist those with high crime rates to improve on their security network. For the police in particular, it would allow them to take stock and strengthen their operation in flash-points," the source added. The report said: "The Data on public order are sourced from the Nigeria Police Force. They cover crimes, road accident cases and casualties, armed robbery cases and involvement, vehicles stolen and recovered, court cases, juvenile cases and bank frauds." http://thenationonlineng.net/web/articles/8965/1/Oyo-Imo-Ogun-others-lead-in-armed-robbery/Page1.html |
OgidiBoy:Kidnapping yes (for now, was not so before), robbery no. You are a bonafide ignoramus. |
In poverty-stricken Nigeria, it is not a pride to be the largest ethnic group because it translates directly to the most poverty-stricken which Igbos are not. Perhaps if all the Igbos in diaspora return, you might be correct. But for now, Igbos are not the largest group which most likely is the hausa-fulani binity (carved from trinity). The smaller the better, since we are not (yet) America. |
