Lagos: Police arrest woman over alleged abduction of five-year-old by Comfort Oseghale advertisement Click Here Lagos State Police Command has arrested a woman, Basira Alabi, for abducting a five- year- old girl, identified simply as Divine. It was learnt that Alabi, who was nabbed by the Okokomaiko Police Division, was neither a friend nor relative of Divine's family. She was said to have abducted Divine from her school at Ijanikin during its end of session party on Friday. A police source said Alabi and Divine had already boarded a commercial vehicle to Okokomaiko, before some co-passengers became suspicious of the woman. The source said, "Alabi had used the end of session merriment at the girl's school as a cover to lure the child away from the premises. They boarded a bus from Ijanikin to Okokomaiko before anyone suspected that something was amiss. "While on the way to Okokomaiko, co-passengers were curious about the relationship between Alabi and Divine because there seemed to be no affection or familiarity between them. The passengers questioned Alabi on who Divine was and she responded that Divine was her child. "Perhaps, frightened by the attention that was being focused on them, Divine did not respond when she was questioned about Alabi." PUNCH Metro gathered that when the driver could no longer stand the unease in the bus, he pulled over at Okokomaiko and asked Alabi to disembark along with Divine. It was learnt that when Alabi got down from the bus, the passengers noticed that Divine was being pulled by Alabi because the child was reluctant to go with her. The passengers were said to have subsequently alerted the police. The source said, "At the station, Alabi was asked her relationship with Divine. She explained that she was the mother but when she was asked Divine's name, she could not say anything. The police then asked Divine her name and she said it. "Divine was asked if she knew her mother's number and when she was given a telephone, she dialed her mother's number. That was how the real mother was told to come and pick up her child at Okokomaiko Police Station." PUNCH Metro learnt that the police were still working to unravel if Alabi was working alone or had accomplices. The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Umaru Manko, confirmed the incident. He said, "Alabi was arrested at Okokomaiko last week when passengers in the commercial bus she boarded, raised the alarm that she was abducting Divine." http://odili.net/news/source/2013/aug/1/821.html |

When Obas remain ominously silent, brown envelopes would have exchanged hands. Mustafa strong no be small. Indirectly instigated MKO's death, directly killed his wife, bribed the judges and OPC (Fasehun) and Obas, and walked home free. MKO's brothers in Kano even joined Fasehun and gave him a rousing welcome. I am curious to hear Fasola's opinion on this. |

http://odili.net/news/source/2013/aug/1/328.html Fasheun,Al-Mustapha romance: Yoruba monarchs salient News Thursday, August 1, 2013 advertisement Click Here OLA AJAYI, IBADAN Yoruba monarchs have distanced themselves from the relationship between the founder of Odua People’s Congress (OPC), Fredrick Fasheun and Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Sani Abacha who was just acquitted by the court over the killing of Kudirat, the wife of late Moshood Abiola. The monarchs, at a meeting held in the Ibadan residence of Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugboland yesterday simply refused to make comments saying the issue was political and they would prefer not to delve into it. The killing of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola in 1996 was believed by many Yorubas to have involved the aides of the late General Sanni Abacha. Some of the obas who appeared not comfortable with the acquittal of Mustapha met on the platform of the Yoruba Obas Conflict Resolution Committee and said the issue was political. Oba Akinruntan, who spoke on behalf of the monarchs said their efforts to reconcile feuding Obas in the zone were already being fruitful. He explained that the committee was saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the Obas speak with one voice. Through this, they were hopeful that the alleged marginalization suffered by the Yorubas at the federal level could be properly addressed. He said,”Olugbo, "we are convinced of achieving our set objective of ensuring the desired unity among the Obas in Yorubaland and when we set to move round, we are sure of very warm receptions and positive disposition to our cause by the feelers being received already". |

Kaztec to establish pipeline manufacturing plant, others in N/Delta Monday, 14 May 2012 00:00 By Obiora Aduba Business Services - Business News E-mail Print User Rating: / 0 PoorBest A WHOLLY indigenous oil and gas service company, Kaztec Engineering Limited, a member of the Chrome Group, said in Houston at the weekend that it was is in the process of establishing a base in the Niger Delta for pipeline manufacturing, coating and fabrication as well as all utility systems for both its onshore and offshore projects. Speaking with journalists at the company’s stand in the Reliant Park, venue of the just-concluded Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), in Houston Texas, the company’s Commercial Manager, Charles Gallagher, noted that the company intended to reinforce capacity to ensure that projects are delivered according to world-class standards. He listed some of the projects being executed by the company to include the 106 kilometer Adangba/Calabar gas pipeline project, which will transport gas to some independent power plants in the Niger Delta, offshore platform installation for Addax Petroleum Development Corporation as well as some offshore pipeline installations for which it has acquired a fleet of vessels, including pipe laying vessels, tug vessels and utility vessels that will fast-track the delivery of projects. He said that the company took its new technology, Semi Automatic Welding System, the first of its kind by a Nigerian company to the conference, which was a big boost for the company’s pipeline projects, through which it has been able to install hundreds of kilometers of pipelines in Calabar, Cross River State. He added that developing the new technology was part of Kaztec’s effort to support Federal Government’s Nigerian content development programme aimed at empowering more indigenous companies to come into the sector. According to Gallagher, “we are here in the market place to showcase our capability and capacity and we are ready to compete not only locally, but also internationally. So, we are moving into higher quality welding, which is semi-automatic welding, the first to be done by any local company and we are very proud of it.” He noted that some companies had to abandon some of the engineering, procurement, installation and construction (EPIC) projects due to lack of capacity, while Kaztec is breaking new grounds. As a result, he pointed out that the OTC offered the company an opportunity to showcase itself to the world, and demonstrate its ability to deliver quality services in line with global best practices. He noted that one of the major challenges faced by indigenous operators is dearth of technical capacity, which is why his company is boosting both technical and utility competences. http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=85624:kaztec-to-establish-pipeline-manufacturing-plant-others-in-ndelta&catid=31:business&Itemid=562 http://www.kaztec-eng.com/ |

tpia@: Yeah! I get it. European historic towns are as drab as Ibadan. Why not post one such drab historic town in an European country that is as prominent as Ibadan is to SW Nigeria? Brugge in Belgium is more than 1200 years old http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruges. Can you compare it to Ibadan that is less than 200 years old: Ibadan came into existence in 1829.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibadan |

http://www.naijapundit.com/news/hausa-leader-to-jonathan-dont-dialogue-with-boko-haram Hausa Leader to Jonathan-Dont Dialogue With Boko Haram Written by NAN on 14 May 2012. 0 Comments and 0 Reactions 25DEC-bomb-blast3.jpg-25DEC-bomb-blast3.jpg A Leader of Hausa Community in Abia, Alhaji Mohammed Umaru has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to jettison plans to dialogue with the Boko Haram group. Umaru, who is the Public Relations Officer of Northern Community in Abia, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia on Sunday. He said that dialoguing with the group would be counter-productive as it would explore the opportunity to re-organise and cause more havoc. “Islamic religion does not preach the killing of human beings, anybody who kills in the name of Islam is not a true Muslim. “In Islam, Allah tells us not to kill anybody and anybody who kills his fellow human being be it a Christian or Muslim, will go to hell fire straight,’’ he said. He said that members of the Boko Haram were aware that God condemns their activities in Nigeria, adding that unlike the Niger Delta militants, the group did not have genuine reason that would warrant government’s attention. “The Niger Delta militants’ agitation was because of unfair treatment to the oil producing communities. “The Federal Government asked them to drop arms, and then looked into their requests which led to the creation of Niger Delta Ministry, among other things. “For the Boko Haram, they do not want to take advantage of the media to tell the world what their problems are, rather they continue to kill Christians and Muslims, they kill Igbos, Yorubas, and Hausas so their motive is evil,’’ he said. Why and how did Oduduwa fall from the sky? Was he pushed by God, by Satan or by some angels? How did a renegade/rebellious Benin prince become the Yoruba progenitor How is Yabatech the third oldest institution of higher learning in Africa and 27th in the world. Why did Awolowo commit suicide? So many questions, no answers. 3 Likes |
