Becomrich0:Bros, you miss road? Wetin concern jonathan with this topic? |
hercules07:You do not need to ascribe any rightness to Becomerich. Read the original poster's second post and that of Cohomology. Even Gumel at 2008 may not be the first one. We are talking about Africa not just Nigeria. As with Nigeria, there are many Kenyan and Ghananian profs out there in the West. I have seen that Gumel is a full prof, although there is no evidence of when (year) he became one from the link you provided. Indeed to be a prof in math in a developed society is not come-chop. No be small thing oh! |

Religious and ethnic riots in the north, kidnapping and armed robbery in the south.lol Naija is finished; gone to the dogs. |
The crisis was said to have been ignited as a result of the siting of a mosque at the divisional police headquarters located in the local government council area headquarters complex. Why take the laws into your own hands? Looks like muslims are not always the aggressors in the recurrent religious upheavels in northern nigeria |
Taraba: 8 Die, 40 Injured in Wukari Religious Riot From Mathew Onah in Yola, 07.14.2010 At least eight persons have been confirmed dead and over 40 others lying critically ill in various hospitals in Wukari, Taraba State, following a religious riot which broke out in the early hours of yesterday. The riot led to the disruption of traffic along the busy Jalingo-Katsina Ala road linking the South-eastern part of the country with the North-east. The crisis was said to have been ignited as a result of the siting of a mosque at the divisional police headquarters located in the local government council area headquarters complex. Piqued by the development, some Christian youths , according to the police commissioner, Aliyu Musa, who confirmed the story to journalists, embarked on the demolition of the mosque and this led to a reprisal action by other moslems, leading to massive destruction of lives and properties. Eye witness told THISDAY that the entire streets of Wukari have been deserted as a result of the violence and the people have began to seek refuge in the neighbouring towns and villages. “As I am talking to you now, the town is on fire. All schools and shops have been closed and most of our people have begun to move out of the town for safety, ” THISDAY was told. About five mosques and three churches, as at the time of filing in this report, were said to have been set ablaze by the youths, believed to be armed to the teeth, chanting war songs. Fears are being expressed over the safety of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members presently camping in Wukari Local Government Council of the state for the three weeks orientation . Meanwhile, the Taraba State Police Command, has mobilised about three trucks of mobile policemen fully armed to the trouble zone which is about 220 kilometers from the state capital Confirming the development, the State Police Commissioner said “as you have just seen, about a unit of mobile and general duty policemen are now on their way to Wukari. “I am sending these mobile men there to increase the strength of the ones on ground so as to bring the situation under control.” |
honeric01:Can you swear that you have not seen such and worse scenarios at bus stops in Lagos? |
Can any real Lagosian ( I mean resident) swear that they have not seen such and worse scenarios at bus stops? Well, my own cousin carries a broken wrist courtesy of such at mile 2. |
Kobojunkie:What is not real? That was taken from the window of a speeding car |
Survival of the fittest. This is what at least 90 % of the over 15 million Lagosians pass thru on daily basis. Would not live there for all the world

Yes, Andre, Igbo had no reason to seek power, something they already had in quantum First president First Senate president First GOC First House speaker -Jaja Nwachukwu Most ministers during the first republic were Igbos. Despite Tafawa Balewa, Igbos were effectively in charge all by MERIT. So what else will anyone accuse them of seeking? |
Folks, Please note that these photos/info are usually provided by Nigerians. BBC has no blame in this, IMO. Besides, if the photo is indeed true, then it speaks for itself. Why should the BBC then take heat for our collective failure? |
Is that photo taken in riverine Ogbia, the home town of our presido? ![]() |
philip0906:This topic is about kidnappers. So my argument is limited to that. However, if you ask me, I have the same feeling for political thieves (kill them off), although they only steal from you and do not threaten (directly) your life as do kidnappers (who threaten/take lives as well as take your money in the name of ransom) |
Why is Akerele angry that PPA is being disbanded? If he wants PPA, he can re-organize it for himself. Abians say no to PPA, no to Orji Kalu and his evil hegemony. |
Regarding the incessant attacks by kidnappers in the East and South-South, do you support "DEATH" as a penalty for any kidnapper that is caught.Point of correction: Kidnapping is everywhere in Nigeria, particularly southern Nigeria. You ignore this fact at your own peril. Stop giving false hope that other parts of the country are safe from kidnappers. @Topic: Yes, they should be killed. I recommend even no waste of public funds on trials for those caught pants down with their victims |
Ode Remo, Your suburb has always been even more than Aba. Ogun state is number one in armed robber incidence in Nigeria, according to police data. |
Bluetooth, My question to the eediot Newgroom was clear: Why ''Igbo kwenu'' snide remark for a kidnapping incidence that took place in Kogi, with no name of the kidnappers mentioned? Sacked NFF Chairman, Sani Lulu's Mother kidnapped advertisement Mother of erstwhile President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaja Laruba Abdullahi was kidnapped from her palatial home in Idah at 6.45 pm in Kogi State and taken to an unknown destination.Sportinglife As of 8.45pm when Sportinglife spoke with Aderigbibe, no word had been heard from the gun men. He revealed that Lulu was in Abuja when the incident occurred, stressing that the former NFF president has remained calm and wouldn’t want to discuss the issue nor does he intend to report to the police in order not to endanger the life of his mum. Lulu was impeached last week by the Congress of Nigerian football following an early exercise by nine members of the NFF on ground of not carrying them along in the course of Nigeria’s participation in the concluded 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He had been locked in battle for the soul of Nigeria’s football with chieftains of the National Sports Commission (NSC) leading to threats by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) that they would ban the country from international soccer competitions after President Goodluck Jonathan, on the advice of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) headed by Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi recommended that Nigeria should withdraw from all football competitions for two years. scooped from Sani Lulu’s Special Adviser Tunde Aderibigbe last night that Alhaja Laruba’s home was invaded by four heavily armed men who directed those present in the house to lie face down before she was whisked away. Meanwhile, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, raided the Accounts and Administration department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to fish for document. It was gathered that the operatives got to the NFF office at Wuse zone 7, Abuja, at about11.00 a.m. and left at 3.30 p.m. It was learnt that more senior officials of the NFF would soon be summoned once the seized documents had been carefully analysed. The commission had summoned the impeached former president of the NFF, Sani Lulu, his impeached deputy Amanze Uchegbulam, former chairman, technical committee, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, and the incumbent secretary general of the NFF, Mr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba. |
Robbers ambush, kill four policemen in Ogun By Ademola Oni, Abeokuta Tuesday, 13 Jul 2010 Tragedy hit the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Sunday evening when armed robbers ambushed and killed four policemen on the Ijesa Ijebu-Ilishan Road in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state. The policemen were said to be in a private car at the time of the incident. One of them, however, escaped from the rampaging robbers, who, an investigation has shown, never operated around the area. Unconfirmed reports stated that the hoodlums also went away the rifles of the dead policemen. The deceased were an inspector, two corporals and one constable. The driver of the vehicle, a sergeant, escaped with serious wounds. As at Monday morning, it was still difficult to ascertain the identities of the policemen who were involved in the sad incident while no arrest had been made. The attack occurred at Ako village, a distance of about five kilometres from the permanent site of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye. Our correspondent learnt that the policemen were returning from a routine patrol around Ago Iwoye, when the gunmen, who followed them in another vehicle, opened fire on the private car in which the policemen were riding to their station. A man, who was heading towards the town shortly after the incident, told our correspondent on the condition of anonymity that his mother called from the town to warn him against visiting the community as policemen were said to be on red alert to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act. “I was heading for Ago Iwoye from Abeokuta when my mother called me that I should go back; that I should not bother to come as some policemen had been killed by some robbers. She said the police were angry and looking for the robbers because she was afraid I could be caught in a cross fire,” said the informant. A police source, who spoke to our correspondent on Sunday night in confidence, described the killing of the policemen as “a sad occurrence.” He said, “This is very sad, very, very sad. This people had already closed for the day and were returning to their station when the robbers opened fire on their car. Funny enough, the hoodlums did not operate anywhere around the area. I believe what they wanted were the guns of the policemen they killed.” The Police Public Relations Officer in charge of the state command, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the killing to our correspondent on Monday, asking members of the public to pray for the policemen while assisting them with useful information that could expose hoodlums. He said, “These people are not spirits; they are human beings. It is one of the hazards of the profession. “The robbers know the policemen because the police will always be in uniform but hardly will you recognise the hoodlums. That is why we need both the physical and spiritual support of members of the public.” The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Musa Daura, held a strategic, close-door meeting with officers of the command, on how to raise level of security in the state, expressing confidence that the hoodlums would be arrested. “Even the blood of the dead policemen will cry for justice; they have family members and dependants too. We will get them,” he said. |

We want ransom in dollars •Kidnappers of multi-millionaire bizman demand •3 children of victim shot during abduction From DESMOND MGBOH, Kano Tuesday, July 13, 2010 Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section A multi-millionaire businessman, Alhaji Salisu Mataba, has been kidnapped in Kano State. He was abducted at about 7.00 p.m. on Sunday and the audacious hoodlums are demanding an undisclosed huge sum in dollars Three of the victim’s children, who tried to test the might of the kidnappers, were shot in the confusion that attended the abduction right from the family home at Kurna Baba Line in the state capital. Security sources told Daily Sun that the children were shot, one on the left hand, the other in the buttock and the third on his knee. All of them, the sources added, were rushed to the Murtala Muhammed Hospital, Kano where they were, as at Monday, on admission for their injuries. The gun-wielding kidnappers, who came in a Honda Legend car and another red car, had arrived Mataba’s home shortly before nightfall. The people in the neighborhood told Daily Sun that the kidnappers waited casually for their target to return home after the day’s business, before they swooped on him. The victim was taken out of the house and dumped in the trunk of one of the cars by his heavily-armed abductors, after which they made their way out of the scene through the new Ring Road towards, probably Gwarzo, said an eyewitness, who sought anonymity. Already, the case had been reported to the Dala division of the Nigeria Police Force in the state, and the police, it was gathered, had swung into action. But curiously, some members of the family of the abducted man have quietly asked the police to steer clear of the incident, saying they preferred to pay the ransom to the kidnappers than risk the life of their father. One of the children, it was gathered, had contacted the police, insisting that his father and the kidnappers had spoken to the family. He added that the abductors demanded an undisclosed amount in dollars, while stating that his father had directed him on how to source the ransom to buy his freedom. Meanwhile, one of the vehicles used by the kidnappers had been found after it was abandoned. The Honda Civic, with registration number, AA 537 GGE, was sighted at the Divisonal Police headquarters, Dala , inside the city. When contacted on Monday afternoon, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Baba Mohammed Azare, told Daily Sun that the police were aware of the incident and were doing everything possible to ensure Mataba’s safety as well as the arrest of the hoodlums. |
He will do anything, including licking his own vomit (PDP) to ensure that his enstraged surrogate Orji does not get a second term |
Kalu returns to PDP, seeks internal democracy Tuesday, 13 July 2010 00:00 From John-Abba Ogbodo, Abuja News - National User Rating: / 0 PoorBest FORMER Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with an olive branch asking for forgiveness just as he said he has forgiven those who offended him and sent him out of the party. Kalu, who led the large delegation of Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) members to the national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja for the declaration, said he decided to quit PDP because the party at a point derailed from the ideals of its founding fathers. Noting that he and some members, including the national chairman, Dr. Okweselieze Nwodo, were frustrated out of the party, Kalu, who until yesterday was the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of PPA, disclosed that he had promised Nwodo that if he became chairman of PDP he would return to the party, adding that yesterday’s event was the fulfilment of the pledge. He, however, reiterated that the only solution to the problem in the party is to allow internal democracy to prevail. “As long as the party will submit itself to the rules that it has made, not when you send people to Gwagwalada to conduct primaries and the man that did not win election will be returned. It is not going to be good for the party. It is good for the party when popular people, with or without money, win the party nomination and be presented by the party”, he said. Declaring that he is a child of circumstance, the former governor asked for forgiveness from those he had offended, declaring that he had forgiven those who offended him. The national chairman of the party, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, commended Kalu for the step and assured him that there would be a significant improvement in the running of the party. |

newgroom:Why Igbo kwenu? Was she kidnapped in Igboland? |
I agree with the topic, but I also agree that IBB has far more nothing to offer. |
Ok! Let me conclude, as this is my thread. After due consultations with the Egbesus and Ijaw jujus, it has been revealed that Goodluck ''Ebele'' ''Azikiwe'' (note the quotes in the Igbo names because they are FAKE Igbo names) Jonathan is a bonafide Ijaw form Otuoke in Ogbia LGA, formerly part of Brass LGA of Bayelsa state in SOUTH SOUTH NIGERIA. He has no Igbo gene in his ancestry. This thread is now closed. |
