Religion / COVID-19: Reopen Churches, Mosques Now, CAN Tells Nigerian Government by mrfree(m): 5:56pm On May 20, 2020
he Christian Association of Nigeria has urged the Nigerian Government to allow churches and mosques to reopen for worship.

CAN said since offices and markets could be reopened, the same privilege should be accorded religious institutions.

A spokesperson for CAN President, Pastor Bayo Oladeji, spoke with SaharaReporters on Coronavirus and religious institutions in Nigeria.

Oladeji said the church's role was critical to the solution being sought for the Coronavirus pandemic, noting that prayers were essential in the war against the virus.

CAN President
He said, “If we can re-open markets, banks; if the government can re-open their offices, if the Nigerian Port Authority can be opened since COVID-19 became a pandemic in Nigeria, it is very wrong to close the church.

“In the church, we have rules and regulations guiding the way we meet. Before they closed worship places, they advised that there should be sanitizers, water for people to wash their hands and social distancing should be observed. There is no church and mosques that are against that.

“In some states in this country where they relaxed the lockdown, they allow worship places to open. There are no facts and figures to prove that when they relaxed the order, the pandemic became uncontrollable. The closure of worship places has nothing to do with the spread of the pandemic.

“Let the government advise religious leaders to observe these rules. I don’t know of any religious group that would say no to it. If people go to church and mosques, they go to pray for God to give us a solution and intervene and you ask them not to go. We are calling on the government to reopen the churches and the mosques but let them follow regulations.

Crime / BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnap Senior Naval Officer In Ondo by mrfree(m): 5:47pm On May 20, 2020
A Navy Commander has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Ondo State.

The Naval Officer whose identity is yet to be ascertained was abducted along Ose/Oba Akoko, Akoko North East Local Government in the Northern Senatorial District of the state.

He was said to be traveling to Abuja when the gunmen emerged from the bush and waylaid his vehicle.

The military officer’s abduction comes a few days after an Army Captain was also snatched while traveling from Abuja within the same axis

The kidnappers were said to have made contact with the family, demanding N50 million ransom.

Meanwhile, a military and police joint rescue team are already combing the bushes around the area of the incident in a bid to rescue the victim.

According to sources, the Commanding Officer of 323 Artillery Brigade Command in Ondo State had visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ondo, State Command, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro said various tactical squads have been deployed to man the area.

Health / Curfew: Lagos Doctors Begin Sit-at-home Wednesday - Premium Times by mrfree(m): 5:13pm On May 20, 2020
The Nigerian Medical Association in Lagos has directed its members to immediately proceed on an indefinite sit-at-home strike starting from 6.00 pm on Wednesday.

The association gave the directive in a joint statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Saliu Oseni and Ramon Moronkola, respectively in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that to strengthen compliance of the curfew, the police in Lagos on Tuesday mounted road blocks in different parts of Lagos by 8.00p.m.

They also allegedly arrested some people, including essential workers that were presumed to have flouted the curfew directive.

The NMA leaders said that their decision was as a result of the conflicting directives by the state government and law enforcement agents on the status of essential workers, including doctors and other health workers.

The doctors also said that their action was necessitated following incessant harassment of healthcare workers in Lagos by the security agents.

“The Lagos State Branch of the NMA has resolved that it is presently unsafe for its members to continue to provide healthcare services under the present confused arrangement.

“We resolve that all doctors under the auspices of the Nigerian Medical Association in Lagos to proceed on a sit-at-home starting from 6.00 p.m. today, May 20, indefinitely.

“Until such time when the state government and the Commissioner of Police, are clear on how they wish to operationalise the lockdown/restriction of movement directive as it relates to essential service and service providers, including healthcare services and doctors,” the NMA leaders said.

They demanded a written statement, signed by the state government and the appropriate police authorities, with clear terms on the status of essential services, including healthcare services and its providers, should be issued.

“It should be advertised in the social and mainstream media, and a copy submitted to the Secretariat of the Lagos State Branch of NMA.

“Whereas, the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari, through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, was clear on the exemption of essential workers including doctors and other health-workers from the ongoing lockdown/movement restrictions.

“The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, has been issuing conflicting directives on social and mainstream media to the effect that essential workers, including doctors and other health workers are not exempted.

“As a direct result of the conflicting directives of the government and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, the Lagos State branch of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) was inundated yesterday evening with several cases of harassments and intimidation of doctors and other health-workers by officers and men of the Police Command in Lagos State.

“The healthcare workers were either resuming duty, returning home, or on-transit to heed an emergency call.

“There was a most disturbing case of an ambulance conveying an injured patient which was prevented from moving to destination, while the attending health workers were harassed and temporarily detained,” the NMA said.

They recalled that similar situation occurred sometimes in the early phase of the ongoing lockdown/restriction of movement based on similar conflicting directives from the Commissioner of Police.

“It took the intervention of the State governor, following a petition by the association, for normalcy to be restored,” they said.

According to them, it is presently unclear how the state government and the CSP wish to operationalise the lockdown/restriction of movement directive, vis-à-vis the status of essential workers.

NAN reports that the Federal Government had ordered a 8.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. curfew, and an interstate restriction of movement nationwide, in a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The government, however, exempted healthcare workers, media, agriculture, oil and gas, among others, as essential workers.

The Commissioner of Police had earlier announced that the new directive from the Inspector General of Police was that everyone should be at home at 8.00 p.m., including essential workers.

Make una come out

You are married for 20 years, you and hubby only have three beautiful girls. His family are the type that believe a male child is more important and a must have. So you feel terrible that you haven't given your husband a male child. He assures you that he is okay without a male child...
Hubby falls ill and critically requires a kidney transplant or he will die and you turn out to be a match, because you love him you decide you will donate your other kidney to him. One day in preparation to go to the hospital for surgery you where getting all paperwork sorted out. You come across your husband Will and you go through it and you find out that your husband has 3 boys with one woman like that and he left 90% of his wealth for those boys and their mother and only leaving 10% for your own girls and you.

- What will you do??
- Would you still give him your kidney??
- How will you handle the whole situation??
Health / Nigerian Perspective: What If COVID-19 Is True? (must Read) by mrfree(m): 9:04pm On May 16, 2020
What if it is true that the Novel-Corona Virus (Covid-19) isn’t present in Nigeria?

An average Nigerian believes that there is no Corona Virus in Nigeria, while some others believes that the virus is a means carried out by the New World Order to reduce world population in order to gain control of human resources.

What if the recent multiple deaths in Kano State was as a result of Corona virus?

We understand that the Federal Government of Nigeria is yet to meet up with current health challenges in the Nigerian context by providing rapid & lasting solutions, preventive measures concerning its citizens and her health care workers. This poses rising questions such as:

How many testing centers do we have in Nigeria or how many personnel have to be deployed to move from house to house to test occupants?
How many isolation centers do we have nationwide?
Each an everyday, there seem to be high-rise in numbers of infected persons despite the lockdown and an imminent lax.

A lot of citizens do not obey the government order with the excuse that government has not made provisions (palliatives) that will help her citizens survive the stay at home order.

The issue of insufficient provisions and non-availability of social amenities such as electricity and clean pipe borne water are yet to be properly tackled.

There has also been an increase in theft and burglary. Banks are not operating as people now keep money in their houses and trading venues.

Both the government and Nigerians have roles to play in order to combat COVID-19 but I must reiterate that the Government has majority of work to be done because it is the government responsibility to help Nigerians obey the stay at home order.

As earlier stated in this article that the COVID-19 is a means of the New World Order to reduce the World population, there has been viral videos on social media of people who lost their lives after they took the Anti-Corona virus vaccines, thereby encouraging people not to take any Vaccine or get tested. This is where the need to track fake news and misinformation comes in because someone can just sit somewhere and begin to mislead the public with fake voice notes or piece of articles through the social media.

To this end, Nigerians (Not generalized statement) should emancipate themselves from mental slavery while the Federal Government should sit up and work!

Politics / Newly-registered Party, APDA, Erupts In Crisis; Suspends Dokpesi, Nwanyanwu by mrfree(m): 11:31am On Aug 09, 2017
A leadership crisis has erupted in the newly-registered Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) with the suspension on Tuesday of three of its key leaders.
Those suspended are the proprietor of the African Independent Television, AIT, Raymond Dokpesi, Dan Nwayanwu and Mainassara Ilo.
Mr. Nwanyanwu is a former national chairman of Labour Party (LP).
Their suspension was announced via a statement by the on behalf of the national working committee by the National Secretary, Emeka Okengwu.
The action followed the sack of the party’s national working committee earlier on Tuesday by the national executive committee.
APDA was registered alongside four other associations as political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on June 7, two days after it was publicly launched.
Messrs. Dokpesi, Nwanyanwu and Ilo trio were accused of holding “illegal” national executive council meeting of the party during which they suspended the national working committee.
The statement reads: The newly registered political party, the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance National Working Committee has suspended Raymond Dokpesi, Dan Nwanyanwu, and Mainasara Ilo for unlawful gathering in the name of the party and violating the constitutional provision of the party for holding illegal National Executive Council meeting sacking the National Working Committee of the party.

“Raymond Dokpesi on the 15th of July wrote a letter to Independent National Electoral commission informing them of a proposed NEC meeting and this letter was signed by him as BOT chairman but INEC responded by telling him to root his letter through the National Chairman of the party because the constitution of the party does not have a BOT until after five years.
“In their desperation move to factionalize the party and move to PDP they went ahead to make this announcement constituting an illegal Board of Trustee and sacking of National Working Committee.
“Due to this indiscipline of these members, the NWC met at an emergency meeting today and suspended them and constituted a Disciplinary committee to sanction them for bringing disrepute to the party.
“We want to appeal to the general public to disregard there announcement because they are agent of PDP trying to destroy the emerging alternative party that will give Nigerians a better life.”
Mr. Dokpesi, a known member of the Peoples Democratic Party, which he aspired to lead until May 2016 when it was thrown into leadership crisis, could not be reached for comments.
Several calls to some staff of AIT to speak on the matter were not picked.
When contacted by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Nwanyanwu, who was the national chairman of LP, until 2014, declined comment.
He however referred this newspaper to one Ibe Eguabor, who he described as the party’s new spokesperson.
Mr. Eguabor explained that the letters appointing the interim national chairman, national secretary and other members of the NWC stated explicitly that their appointments would be for three months.
“Three months expired on June 14; the NEC meeting that held today (Tuesday) was called by two-third members of the NEC of the party because of the failure of the national chairman to call a NEC meeting since this party was founded,” he said on phone.
“Having noticed that their tenure had expired, it was incumbent on the NEC to nominate replacements. There are a lot of people who have resigned. Some others have gone back to the PDP and so there was a need to reposition and rebrand the party for the tasks ahead.
“A letter said you have been appointed for three months and gave the conditions under which they can be renewed or rejected and you are carrying on as if you are the owner of the property you were invited to sell.

“It is ridiculous for the former chairman to claim that once INEC issued a certificate to the party then their tenure has been automatically extended by four years. I have never heard that and our constitution is very clear.
“Your tenure has expired in June. You are suspending people in June. That is ridiculous. They have been replaced today by all NEC executive members.”

Politics / Gov. Yari Of Zamfara Built Lagos Hotel With N500m, $500k Paris Club Funds – EFCC by mrfree(m): 10:28am On Jul 05, 2017
Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered an interim forfeiture of the sums of N500m and $500,000 said to have been looted from the Paris Club refunds made by the Federal Government in favor of the 36 states of the federation.

The sums of money said to have been recovered from two firms, First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited, and Gosh Projects Limited were allegedly linked to Governor of Zamfara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Abdulaziz Yari.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission alleged that the sums of money were fraudulently diverted from the NGF’s bank account on the instruction of Yari.

The commission also alleged, in an affidavit filed in support of its ex parte application seeking the interim forfeiture of the sums of money, that the N500m was diverted to offset Yari’s personal loan obtained from the First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited.

It also alleged that the second firm, Gosh Projects Limited, utilized most of the proceeds of the alleged loot, transferred to it for the purchase of building materials for Yari’s 100-room hotel project in Lagos.

Gosh Projects was also said to have used part of the looted funds for the purchase of treasury bills and transfers to offshore accounts.

Our correspondent learned on Tuesday that Justice Nnamdi Dimgba made the interim forfeiture order of the sums of money to the Federal Government in a ruling delivered on June 30, 2017.

The judge also ordered that any person(s) or body with interest in the funds must, within 14 days of the publication of the interim order of forfeiture in any national daily, show cause why an order of final forfeiture to the Federal Government of the funds should not be made.

The ruling was delivered in an ex-parte application jointly filed on June 19, 2017, by the Federal Government of Nigeria (the first applicant) and the EFCC (the second applicant).

First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited and Gosh Projects Limited, from whom the allegedly looted funds were recovered, were joined as respondents.

After the application was moved by the EFCC’s counsel, Mr. Ben Ikani, on June 30, Justice Dimgba granted the three prayers sought by the two applicants.

The judge granted prayers, including “an order of interim forfeiture to the Federal Government of Nigeria (the first applicant) of the sum of N500,000,000.00 recovered from the first respondent (First Generation Mortgage Bank Ltd.) and presently in the possession of the second applicant (EFCC) in its Recovered Funds Account domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“An order of interim forfeiture to the Federal Republic of Nigeria (first applicant) of the sum of US$500,000.00, recovered from the second applicant (Gosh Projects Limited) and presently in the possession of the second applicant (EFCC) in its Recovered Funds Account domiciled with the CBN.”

In an affidavit filed in support of EFCC’s ex parte motion, an operative of the anti-graft agency investigating the case, Mr. Osas Azonabor, alleged that investigation had revealed that the Paris Club refund involved “complex case of money laundering.”

According to him, firms that had no contract with the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, which was holding the Paris Club refunds in its account on behalf of all the States government, were used to divert about N2.2bn from the NGF account.

The investigator alleged that the sum of N500m, recovered from First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited, was part of the N2.2bn “fraudulently transferred by the NGF to BINA Consults and Integrated Services Limited on December 23, 2016.

He accused Yari of giving the instruction for the transfer of the N500m out of the N2.2bn to the First Generation Mortgage Bank Limited.

On how the alleged fraud was discovered, the investigator said the commission, sometime in January 2017, received intelligence in respect of a case against the NGF.

Azonabor stated that the intelligence alleged conspiracy, criminal misappropriation of public funds involving the sum of N19,439,225,871.11 out of the Paris Club refunds made by the Federal Government in favor of the 36 states of the federation.

According to the EFCC investigator, a preliminary investigation conducted by the commission “revealed that the 36 state governments, under the auspices of the NGF, engaged the services of Bizplus GSCL Consortium”.

He said the state governments also asked Bizplus GSCL to “recover amounts due to the states from first line charge made on them from 1995 to 2002 for a success fee of two per cent payable by the NGF.”

The investigator said it was agreed that two per cent of the total amounts due to the states as payment to Bizplus GSCL Consortium.

“We will get the UK certified standards for the exportation of those yam value chains.
