Family › Re: Four Generations Nigerian Family Photo by MrGerald(m): 4:43pm On Dec 08, 2016 |
lagosmp3: “Last week I took it upon myself to visit my wife’s grandmother in a village in Edo State. It has been over 10 years since I saw her and I had a feeling she might not be around for as long as we think.
At 92, you could literally say she’s seen her share of what life has to offer especially when she has witnessed 4 generations of life. It was a 25-hours roundtrip roadtrip that was worth every minute of it. I wanted to document the lineage of the one I considered to have been priviledged to call wife for over 10 years.
I would eventually take the following conceptual picture of my grandma-inlaw, my mother-inlaw, my wife, and my daughter. I wanted to document the family in a way that was different from the family portraits I had taken in the past. Looking at the picture, I eventually got more insights to life than I had envisaged.
Life is indeed beautiful regardless of the trials one has been through. When I look at the picture I see a woman in her 90s who had experienced 4 miscarriages before giving birth to my mother inlaw. I see a woman in her 60s who has lost her husband and is the definition of a strong and virtuous woman. I see a woman in her 30s whose relationship with me can be likened to the undeserved grace God extended towards the Gentiles: I didn’t deserve her but God favored me. I see a woman in her 3s (if there’s something like that, or what will I call a 3.5 years old girl) whose confidence, beauty and intelligence still manages to amuse me every day. What do you see when you look at this portrait of 4 generations?”

hansyllo: The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday said factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Saturday’s Ondo election, Jimoh Ibrahim will be replaced with Eyitayo Jegede.
INEC had earlier replaced Jegede’s name with Ibrahim following the ruling of an Abuja Federal High Court.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the commission, Rotimi Oyekannmi, said the electoral umpire will obey the ruling of the Appeal court which set aside the Justice Okon Abang’s ruling which ordered the initial replacement of Jegede’s name with Ibrahim, Punch reports.
According to Oyekanmi, the ruling of the appellate court should be served on the commission before Friday. Oyekanmi said, “Yes, the judgment as we followed, it shows that we must replace the name of Ibrahim with that of Jegede.
“We will obey the judgment because this is an order coming from a superior court. We will abide by that decision. “However, we will expect that the judgment be served on us before Friday to enable us comply. When we are served, we will comply immediately.
“But we are not going to shift the date of the election. We have passed that stage. The election is going to hold on Saturday, November 24 as scheduled.”

Bobby4090: Illitrates with a poor sense of Geography. You can establish an inland port in Onitsha, but not in Aba or Enugu or Maiduguri as these towns have no major navigable river that links to the Oceon. I wonder if these bunch of goats ever read or do a survey before talking. Dry inland ports has nothing to do with rivers in hinterland, it's last port where freight forwarders/clearing agents go to clear containers/goods and services for their client, after the ship must have landed in seaports and onward discharge at the inland ports through land transportation |

coptic: Lol. Do you know why he is a musician today? Because he grew up in an environment that influenced him to become that. In his mind, he's more Enugu- than he is Anambra's. Same applies to Flavor.
He isn't a successful musician today because he is from Anambra. He went to Lagos just so he could blow. The ability was already innate.
That's why in places like America, you belong as an indigene wherever your are born or have lived for so long. Because, that's where your inspiration comes from.
Take for instance, there are lots of Igbos born and bred in Lagos who only visit Igbo land for not more than 10 days in a year. While serving in Anambra, I met some for whom it was the first time ever visiting Igbo land in their entire lives.
So, where do you think their influences and strengths come from? Of course, such people are more Lagosians than anything else.
So, growing up anywhere is more than "just". It is everything for anyone. You pple should stop disgracing yourself here with irrelevant arguments, I wondered how old are you |
