I read a report sometime ago about hotel prices in Lagos and the writer concluded ( based on a survey) that hotel rooms in Lagos are over priced. I don't know if its correct or not. I have a feeling that low budget hotels may be more profitable than the so called big and expensive hotels. |
emmanuel596:I agree. Any potential investor should learn how to strike the balance. Your last sentence is absolutely correct too. |
emmanuel596:I want to correct an impression. Its very common in this part of the world. When we build or invest in hotel business we focus on the structure then forget operations and maintainance. A hotel building doesn't need to be big and eye catching. Key areas like operations and maintenance carry more weight. A hotel can be small, not so beautiful but very profitable. |
Lagos is ideal. Focus on good maintainance and be creative |
Some skills in are know to guarantee high income as compared to others. The only one that comes to mind is computer programming. Computer programmers even earn more than Lawyers and Medical Doctors ( who are generally regarded as well respected professionals ). What other high paying skills exist? |

The Shiite movement is a large group. They have thousands of owners or maybe millions in Nigeria. So they have numbers. They have not been treated fairly, the Leader is still in detention against the wish of the court. The group has strong support from Iran. That country called Iran is very rich and prepared for any form of "show down". They make billions from Crude oil. We all know that the Muslim majority in the North do not like the Shiites. They are not best of friends. The Shiites have their faults. We all know this. However the Shiites have not been treated fairly. Two wrongs don't make it right Where is El Zak Zaky? Government should be more sensitive when dealing with their so called enemies or opposition. This is how insurgency starts. Remember how Boko Haram started too. My prediction If Government is unable to " receive sense" these Shiites will pick up arms and become another Boko Haram in the next few years. |
KristaPretty:I have done my best by voting during elections and I am a law abiding citizen without a criminal record at Alagbon. By the way, how does your question affect the topic? |
tuniski:Completely off point. |
As we all know there is a new Sherrif in town. For those of us who work and reside in Lagos we have a fair idea of what to expect from our new Governor. Babajide Sanwo Olu. Our Governor was in Egypt over the weekend to cheer up the National Football team. This visit to Egypt gives me a reason to worry and should trigger some deep taught. First Mr Sanwo Olu has inherited a not so pleasant State. Our roads are in a mess right now. They are terrible. From the Island to the Mainland. Traffic management is clearly inadequate We do not have adequate basic infrastructure. A community in Lagos (Ijegun ) experienced a disaster. It was tragic. It is important to note that our dear governor did not visit Ijegun neither did he send a delegation. Our Governor does not have a cabinet at the .moment. This shows that there is a lot of work to be done At this point I'm tempted to conclude that our Governor is a "show man" interested in PR. I really doubt his ability to deliver. Governor Sanwo Olu, you just fall my hand ![]() |
