Romance › Re: Clubbing And Your Choice For Marriage. by MrsChima(f): 4:09am On Aug 08, 2012
2buff: If I were a married man....I would have no business going to the club every weekend.
It would not be wise. So I would expect a wise married woman to follow suit.
Your eyes could lock-on to something that really should never have concerned you.
It only takes one glance at a thick chick in skimpy clothes gyrating on the dance floor in real-time to make a man start questioning his devotion to his wife.

If you know yourself, you must guard your mind, your heart and more importantly, your eyes.
Temptation happens ANYWHERE. Clubs isn't the issue nor the problem...the lack of self discipline and control is the cultprit.

People need to own accountability for their action and know that if they truly want to remain faithful to their person it starts in the mind and heart.

It is that simple.
Romance › Re: Why Do British Girls Love To Date Black Guys... by MrsChima(f): 4:05am On Aug 08, 2012
Serpentine: As a white British girl, I can say I dont love to date black guys. I love to date the black guy i am going to marry, but he is the only black guy I have dated. It is HIM i like, not black guys in general. To most people here nowadays, it isn't really a big deal what colour someone is when it comes to dating. At least that is what i see.
So you didn't fall for the "Big Kondo" hype?
Culture › Re: American Women That Marry Nigerian Men by MrsChima(f): 3:56am On Aug 08, 2012
MSONWORDI: Hello nairaland,

This is my first time posting. I would like to shared that I'm a African American who is very much in love with a Nigerian man. We met through a cousin online (I know, didn't started like a fairy-tale)but we talked on the phone and texts. Later on in the second year I really heard his voice, meaning I was getting to know him but I'm catious didn't want to be scam. Sometimes I be to myself wondering why in the world I feel like this about a man from Nigeria and thousand miles away from me. My future husband is a kind hearted man and he is very laid back. When I read on here that all nigerian men was rude, disrespectful, cheater, scammers, etc. I be like well he must be good I need to test him some more, naw, we pray together, and this year is the third year knowing him and I have been in contact with his sister, and two of his brothers on Facebook. I'm looking forward to meeting all of them in person in December. He wanted to get married this year but I believe it would have to wait til next year. I have to have my dream wedding. lol......I appreiciated some positive stories as well of the negative ones. You have to be careful in everything you do. Pray and ask for a sign and know that person is for you. I have learned that love could find you doesn't matter who, where, and how. Take care.
It is true that love will find you no matter where and who you are. You should have your dream wedding but why not meet each other families before start planning a wedding?

Are you planning on moving to Nigeria or is he planning on moving to America?

osram: marrying a foreigner dos nt mean dt a man is not traditional..it all depends on the individual..as for me marrying a foreigner is the best thing that would happen to me
You are right...just because a person isn't from your culture doesn't mean that it will not work out. It is about two people in the relationship and how they understand each other. If you guys are able to communicate effectively with each other and respect each other.....everything will fall in place.

Trust me that I know.

Foreigners in Africa should learn the local language.....still dont have nothing to do with why Africans in their own country imitating other countries....not just America.

Fulaman198: I don't have issues with America, my issue is with Africans not being themselves. Also, I disagree, The youth are copying American customs by dressing like Americans and singing rap music in more urbanized areas. If you like I could type in my native tongue of Fulfulde, but then you would not understand would you?

One thing I do agree with is that we should not copy other countries (unless if that country has similar culture to us then fine ok). A lot of "Nigerian popular music" is so Americanized or Indianized (if that is even a word) that it isn't even funny.
You can type in your native tongue...it won't change anything I said. I see other influences in Africans that aren't Americanized and a hand full of Africans wearing Sean Johns and rapping California Love isn't a solid representation of "African Imitation Fad".

What is being "themselves"?

Some chatters need to stop contradicting themselves.
Culture › Re: Why Do Africans Like To To Imitate The Western Culture? by MrsChima(f): 6:44pm On Aug 07, 2012
Fulaman198: Ok, I guess you are right, Soccer/Football w/e you want to call it is imitated. But it has been around A LOT LONGER than basketball has in Nigeria. Basketball is a recent phenomenon in Naija because of the influx of Nigerians who believe copying America instead of being themselves is the right thing to do.
But it is okay to copy other countries? huh huh huh If it isn't good for the goose then it shouldn't be good for the gander.

I know you have issues with America and that is on you...however I don't see much American influence in Africa as I do other countries' influences. Just because America has huge African immigrants doesn't mean AFricans are imitating American culture. From what I see on this side of the world that AFricans are maintaining their "culture" while in AFrica many are imitating other "cultures" of neighboring countries.

Africans speaking language of their explorers aren't of American culture but of their explorers' language. AFricans weren't speaking English, French, and Spanish before slavery.

The fact that you are writing in English....does that mean you have low self esteem? huh huh

Fulaman198: Also soccer/football is a world sport abi

There is no one country where it is not played excessively (except the Americas) save Mexico.
If we are going by your conclusion then any sports played by the world is a world sport. Don't pinpoint one thing and not pinpoint other things that are "imitated".
Culture › Re: Why Do Africans Like To To Imitate The Western Culture? by MrsChima(f): 6:16pm On Aug 07, 2012
Fulaman198: You are one of them Onila with your talk of "swag" and "swagger". You also talk about Basketball, which Nigerian who is a true Nigerian even mentions basketball? Only Americanized Nigerians do
Then why did Nigeria formed a Nigerian basketball team for the Olympics? huh huh

Where did you think the origin of soccer come from? Soccer is like a drug sport in NIgeria.

Dimples 316: I have dated Ibo men, I'll speak for myself by saying they are a special breed because

1. They are caring and attentive, they really do know how to treat a woman well, with respect and dignity. Especially if
you are decent and well put together.

2. They are very industrious and it is infectious, they can come up with brilliant ideas on how to make and earn a living legitimately. While encouraging & pushing you to strike out and be the best that you can be

3. Having seen first hand marriages involving an Ibo man I can say with all pleasure that they have a healthy respect
for the family institution and there's no dulling or slacking with them when it comes to handling their responsibilites and performing their duties as husbands/fathers.

4. They've definitely got skills in bed, bad skills especially them bald headed ones.

5. My most pleasant relationships have been with the Ibo guys.

I do not belong to any of the three major tribes of Nigeria i.e Ibo, Hausa & Yoruba. But having come across and interacted with men from all three tribes, I'll go for the Ibo man anytime, anyday they've got game.
You know you got haters fuming and Igbo men walking around with swollen heads! grin grin grin
