Very few. The day a friend told me his fiancee is hbss,I cud nt contain ma joy. Since then I hold I'm in high esteem.now they are married wt a baby girl. So many hbAA won't marry hbSS/SC cos they believe we weill soon die.even if they want to,their fam wil kick against such union unless they are nt aware. I kno pple wt SCD who are happily married wt kids but some of us are stil unfortunate in that rgds.hopefully,we wil get married some day.

Amen. A friend shared a personal experience about how her boyfriend abonded her on an ICU bed when he realized she had SCD even when he was hbAA. She has lost all hope and is presently battling depression. I am amazed cos you would never know she is an SS cause she looks so healthy and shows amazing strenght. I think this are also issues we should include in our advocacy against sicke cell anaemia. Those living with it are not weaklings, they can partake in any activity only at their own pace and strength.

For some weird reason this thread makes me angry and sad at the same time. Just like HIV, its not only the disease you get to fight but the stigma and rejection you get to face. We are all here talking about people avoiding AS/AS relationship. What about those already living with SS. How many people with the AA gene can truly come out and say I can marry an SS.

First of all sickle cell anaemia is not a death sentence and can be managed. Crisis are bound to happen but you can reduce them to the barest minimum. First medications like Folic acid(folate) and proguanil can help. Folic acids helps to maintain blood level and proguanil is an anti malaria which also have some anti sickling properties, then analgesics like paracetamol for the occasional pain(P.S not pains associated with crisis cos Paracetamol won't do nothing). Second, SCD patient need plenty and plenty of water aka fluid therapy. Infact this should be the first step in management. They need extra fluid to allow easy passage of sickle blood cell through blood capillaris. Third, healthy diet. They need to eat lots of fruit and veggies. Avoid food with too much sugar. Fourth, avoid stress in what ever form physically, emotionally etc. Avoid extreme weathers. During cold weathers they could take drugs like ibuprofen this could help with the pains associated with cold weathers. SCD patients don't need pity they need love and understanding. If you are an AA go ahead and marry an SS. Be the rock and light in their life. But an AS+AS is a definite NoNo.will be back to contribute more but for now I've got work to do. Cheers.

Did you say anything to contribute to the dream killer?

I'd rather kill the monster, than add to its devilish vicious cycle.

Biko, take your frustrated self somewhere else. As I cannot comment on the above topic, I stay on the sideline and read comments from people who are more knowledgeable on the issue, instead of trying to bring it down the way you do with your anti- Nigeria chants.

bittyend: Maybe in Nigeria.

Before the cesspit was created, Bornu, Oyo, Sokoto Caliphate, Benin etc. prospered.

Nigeria is a dream killer, I can't wait to see the end of that country. undecided

Don't you ever have anything positive to say. What have you contributed to Nigeria to make it a better place for you and others, yet u keep condemning.

Definitely coping a copy. On the flip side, this an advise to the team of CF, they really need to stop this their cabal mentality of just featuring designers they are familiar with. They should give younger up and coming designer a chance. Stop recycling faces angry
Family / Re: Men That Want Their Women Pregnant Before They Can Marry by MsAfroZest(f): 9:39am On Oct 29, 2012
I am really appalled by some of the comments from some men on this topic. When its the guy that is sterile, the woman is told to be patient, to hold on to God, to do several praying and fasting. The moment the woman decides to end the marriage she is called all sorts of name. Having children is never a ticket to a happy and successful home.

Okija_juju: When a man truly oves you, he is simply going to be himself in front of you.. He wouldnt hide anything from you. He wouldnt pretend to be all those thing swritten up there if he isnt that way.. He will simply love you the best way he knows. He would try and understand you and try as much as he possibly can to make you always be happy including occasionally inconviniencing himself.

- He may not hold you in public (because he is shy),

- He may not open the door for you (because he just doesnt see the significance),

- He may not remember everything you say (because his mind is filled with other stuff as well)

- He may not be overly-protective of you (because he isnt insecure)

- He may not always apologise after every fight (because of his man pride)

- He may even forget your birthday (because he barely even remembers todays date)

- He may not always call you and text you -(because he barely has time to hold his diick while pissing)

- He may not take you to fancy restaurants (because he prefers home cooking)

- He may not buy you flowers (because he wasnt raised like that)

But be rest assured that if he truly loves you, he would love you the best way he knows how to, which may not necessarily be the hollywood way..

If you have nothing intelligent or interesting to say just keep your leprous hand and archaic thoughts to yourself. When did it become a crime to be single. At least she has achieved more than u will ever achieve in your miserable life.

Please there is no excuse for what the pharmacist did. He is an accomplice and that is all. Every pharmacist that graduated from a pharmacy school should know that Rohypnol is a controlled drug and is sold ONLY by prescription. There is no way a disciplined practising pharmacist should go against that. I feel he must have been offered a huge amount of money to sell that drug without really knowing the motives of the Culprits . So you all coming here to defend him and tell us how he is from a ‎good family should save it. He should be charged to court. He indirectly aided the killing of human being.
