Congratz o and are we to put off our mind bros as the induction has already started in Lagos? We that attended our oral interview at Zaria i have four people numbers only one person has called and is it because i applied for HIGHER TECHNICAL OFFICER and i read CHEMICAL ENGINEERING because HTO is for those of civil, mechanical and electrical as mentioned in their advert even though during the interview the interviewer said i would be more relevant to their laboratory instead but he asked me how can i do the job of mechanical while iam Chemical Engineering and i told him that if i was trained to do it and i can offer the job so i guess may be iam not qualified for it but have they placed you relevant to your profession bros?
Yes I will only work under the department that is directly relevant to my profession. Same applies to most if not all candidates. Some letters were not relevant to the applicants' positions but they are working to rectify this and some have had theirs changed already.

As a Chemical Engineer, they can't offer you any position meant for Mechanical Engineering graduates unless that's what you applied for and they didn't notice and even if you get the offer the departmental head will most likely reject you. Please don't give up. Some people may decide they no longer want the job. All the best bruv.

Today my phone rang and I noticed the caller was using landline from Lagos. I answered like it was an emergency and with infinity percent attention while moving outdoors for stronger network coverage. DPR first came to my mind but unknown to me, it was a representative from one of these useless and hopeless satellite TV providers that will be calling somebody with different landlines that appear as special numbers (this one had 4 zeros). This same thing happened last week with a different number! Can you imagine this nonsense!!! angry And all those people speculating with specific dates on this thread aren't helping matters too. Which kain tin be dis naw huh Una no try jor.

congratz o they dont have weekend for collection is everyday pls frd where in Abuja? And did you received a call from person as they said so and have they started giving out those offers they said are still in Abuja yet to sign?
Thanks. I don't know where mine was signed or any letters yet to be signed in Abuja. All I know is that mine was ready at that time and the person with my letter was also in town (Abj). But it's possible that some were signed late in Abuja and I was called because I asked about the letter during the first call I received and the fact that I mentioned that I'm in Abj. May be but I'm not sure. I know for sure that the letters were not all prepared at once. Some had theirs in December and others in 1st week of Jan 2018. When I was called to come get the APL, the HR person (different from the initial caller) told me that my offer is based on merit and not because of someone!

jasperwilson87:
Indeed, there was a country; I cant believe things have gotten this bad in my country. APLs are now been issued on weekends and on private compounds. God will help us
So NRC liaison office is now a private compound? Where did you get that from? huh It doesn't matter when. All that matters is for the letter to get delivered as soon as possible and it's upto them to choose where and when depending on their schedule, location and the number of letters on ground. The person that called me initially mentioned at a point that things are too much on his head and that I should remind him to know how to get the letter. At the end (after 2 days), he said another member of staff would call me and that was what happened.

Benokpara:
Hmmmmmm No matter what, I still have high hopes on this job. God will help us. Amen
Amen but induction started today 8th January at Lagos o! Some people only got their letters in the morning.

Even though right now, nrc might nt b getting any bogus allowances, there is still hope because unlike in d past, it generates revenue and d future is in rail transport. I am a partial EH. Thanks but I normally should be worried why my profile wouldn't come up for them. We're too few that got that to be a trend. There are some sure candidates here and some insiders that will tell when "celebration" time comes.

Pls some are sending me PM. I wouldn't be responding. I've not made any comments on this recruitment thread before. I was just monkeying around when I applied, and never thought it'll be anything serious up to this stage.
My interview was just normal, I think I got all my questions correctly and surely I knew some more than the panel but was a bit proud (current affairs have been my strong point since primary school). I was comfortable with the technical aspects and mentioned a few names in DPR that we had correspondences with in my previous work place before I was dropped mid last year. I was into drilling and well planning, they knew the place I worked and I named wells for them (usually, DPR gets well plans, anti-collision analysis and other things before approving new wells to be drilled).

At the end, I hammered them 2 questions that they couldn't answer. first was on career development at DPR while the second was a direct attack question and indictment on them, that was motivated by the fuel scarcity which had started building up at the time of my interview. The 2nd question got the FCC man laugh out loudly.

So, that's all. I don't think there's anything special. I didn't go to please them. in fact, the 2nd question could get them rank me low or disqualify me outright. Their business.

That's all. Happy New Year in advance to you all. You have my best wishes always.
It seems you don't even care about the job. By the way, what do you mean by partial EH? huh huh huh It's either you applied as a GT or EH.

Good. Cos 2 days after I wrote my test in Lagos, a random number just called me and was telling me he works in DPR and he just saw my profile. He went on to say he can help provided I pay 300k. I immediately call him off, he end the call.
I’m just saying we should be careful, that’s all
You should have asked him to prove his affiliation with DPR, how strong/influential his help can be and to provide more details from your profile since he claimed he got access just to know whether the whole thing is genuine or just another scam. A scammer would have none of this and would end the call by him/herself. Although there are many scammers around, it is a well-known fact that some people actually get the chance to select someone and depending on who they are, they decide to make money out of it. I am not saying this is the case but it's possible.
Career › Re: Sample Coren Technical Report by msb247(m):
GNwafor:
Copy and paste Engineers. Can you see the level of idleness of the Nigerian Engineering Graduates? Everybody on this thread wants a COREN Report Sample. Everbody has a BSc/BEng/HND degree, and yet no one could write the COREN Technical Report which is just a critical analysis of your English Language ability in writing a technical report in your domain based on your work experience. Everybody wants "copy & paste".

The country is already in a mess because the British deceived us that once you have a Paper - degree, you are qualified. Every Engineering graduate whether BSc/BEng/HND carried out a laboratory work during the schooling days, how come nobody could write a Technical Report explaining "what was done", "how it was done", "why it was done", "what was the major conclusions", and "any new area of improvement". Mind you, this thread started at about 9:00 am On Dec 11, 2012.

Having COREN Certificate that enables you to attach the prefix "Engr." before your name does not make you an Engineer, rather the thought process of sitting down, drafting the format/outline of the COREN Technical Report (which is domain and experience-specific), and ultimately developing the outline into a full Technical Report of say 70+ pages, with all the necessary addendum, charts, graphs, drawings, calculations, etc., that's what makes you an Engineer.

This country must begin to de-emphasize on the paper Qualification war - which is the actual motivation of most Nigerian Graduates not necessarily Engineering Graduates. We must begin to seek "knowledge" (the thought-process of writing a standard technical report) rather than "qualification" (COREN Certificate).

In Nigeria, we know how to copy and paste. Nigerian Government copied HND from the UK, in the early 1960s, the UK Education system was revolutionalized and every Polytechnic became a University (e.g. Wolverhampton Polytechnic became the University of Wolverhampton in 1970).
What do we have in Nigeria, "the same - the same". We are immune to change.

If we that claims that we are the leaders of tomorrow are ready for tomorrow in Nigeria, then we must go back, pick and start reading those "Course Manuals" on Workshop Practice and the likes where the rudiments of Technical Report Writing were exposed.

"Report Writing" which is part of "Communication Skill" is a technical skill that every "Engineer" must develop and it becomes part you, the reason is that as an Engineer, over the course of your career, you will always write a technical report about a/a project, task, operation, design, maintenance service, fieldwork, etc. So, you must go and develop it.

On a final note, I recommend "Steve Jobs' strategy - forget the grades, focus on the learning". Evidently, anybody requesting for COREN Technical Report Sample clearly focused on "grades", and in doing so forgot "learning". QED
Well said GNwafor.

Nigerian graduates get lazier by the day and this is also a major source of quackery. There are many reports submitted to NSE and COREN that contain the exact words and project done by someone else but names were changed. Some were so dumb that they didn't realize the person had his name in places other than the front page such as headers & footers. It is for this reason that COREN stopped collecting hard copies and NSE are currently working hard to change and improve the process. Just last year, some NSE secretariats had to dispose of previous hard copies meant to be stored as records because some intending members steal or borrow other people's report and submit theirs with the same or very very similar contents.

The problem is that most people do these things just to get the title, certificate and membership status then move on with their lives. They don't even care about the ethical aspects of the profession or to actually have the knowledge. The worst is that some of the senior engineers and even interviewers or examiners aren't helping matters by making it easier for these lazy crooks to pass and go. Many will keep saying they just want the format but if they're given the headings under which the report should be prepared they'll say it's not enough.

May God help us.

Which existing fact?
I don't think there has been any activity on anyone's portal after the interviews.

So for now, even if our portal is still accessible, it doesn't really indicate success yet.
The fact that some were migrated from APC to APO.

There may be no post-interview profile activity on any candidate at the moment but it should happen soon. I advise all candidates to accept whatever the outcome is as one's fate and move on.

Please are there some APC guys still on this thread..try logging into your portal and see what's up.. I'll try uploading pics from my portal, I don't know how to yet cause i'm new to nairaland.
Oops! Sorry to say but the interviews are over and I don't think they'll work out something for you alone. Those that missed theirs quickly joined other states during the 2 week period and were rescheduled and interviewed. Many had their portals closed but kept hope alive and never stopped checking just in case but in your own case, it sounds as if you gave up.

I understand your pain and I wish you all the best. Call them as suggested by someone and hear what they have to say but have at the back of your mind that what will be will be as ordained by the Almighty Allah. This time around, don't kill your hopes even if they tell you that you've missed your chance. God may still have something planned for you so keep hoping that something happens next year. Some additional people may be needed while there are some posts earlier in this thread about additional recruitment (about 200 or so) next year (2018).

If na you talk am, what is it supposed to mean? If no be you talk am, no mind them jare.

Well, it is a known fact that only those that have accessible profiles would make it to the next stage. Even some with inaccessible profile that claimed were invited for interview may be due to having 'long legs' must have had the closed profile back on track because it's essential for the process to continue.

Now that interviews are over, those that find their profiles inaccessible should just accept it as fate and consider it the end of the journey. Unless of course special favour from God or genuine and strong connection. Just my own opinion based on existing facts though.

Smartgrid:
"DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIEND OR RELATIVE WORKING WITH US?"
The above question was asked by the interviewers to almost all the applicants that attended the interview. I am surprised that many of you couldn't understand what that mean or the logic behind. The question is simply checking for nepotism, which is simply the practice among those in power to influence the favouring of their relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

The correct answer in that situation is simple "No". But I don't think it's wrong when you answer "Yes", especially if that your relative is not working in the HR department, as that 'may' attract unnessesary questions to ascertain weather or not he's helping you in any way to secure the appointment. The help could be as simple as telling you the exact question they gonna ask you and the best answers.

Anyway, these are just my understanding. I stand to be corrected. Good day hopefuls ✌
Yes they may be checking nepotism but let's be realistic - how many of their staff can actually exert influence apart from the Director himself and may be head of HR? Most influence, if any, comes from outside (ogas at the top) not within. Some staff even know nothing about the recruitment while many others can only leak the little info they know which may not even be of any help to get someone in. You'll agree with me that not everyone was asked questions about having or knowing someone at DPR. It seems they asked only those who have the same surnames or suspected links to some staff. They have to know because related people should not work together - there's always a tendency of collusion connivance or unnecessary disclosure of sensitive secrets/information or even gaining undue advantage over other employees due to the other relative's position.

If 'No' becomes the answer when in reality its a yes, this will definitely backfire as time goes on. And in such a case, the person being interviewed and the existing person may both be affected. Sincerity is key here.

Speak for yourself. There is no VIP and if you had read previous posts, you would have noticed that candidates who missed their interview were referred to Abuja.

In kano, we were addressed before the interview.

We were told not to go into the interview room with the mindset that it is all for formality.

The man informed us that many of them did not know anybody during their time.

He admitted that there are powers above who tried to hijack the recruitment but they fought them to stand still to ensure that provisions are made for us.

I don't know about you but my own case is settled in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen !!!!
Yes they may have gotten the jobs without knowing anybody but that was so many years ago. Nigeria wasn't this bad then in terms of competition and political influence.

Btw, can you give a rough idea of the percentage of the provision made for 'us' and that of the hijacked ones (if any)?

It's obvious that DPR do not compromise on competence of staff.

Please, someone say something.
You must go with the original copy of the document you uploaded! It's as simple as that. It may be an added advantage if you go with both and inform them that you only obtained it recently. If you can go to your school and obtain the original certificate before the interview then I suggest you do so. As a govt agency they should be aware that many institutions in Nigeria take some time to get certificates ready and some more time for the students to get it. All the best.
