"Universities should integrate creativity and innovation seamlessly into the curicullum, encouraging students to explore beyond conventional boundaries. This entails incorporating project-based assignments, case studies, and real-world problem solving activities to stimulate critical thinking. Simultaneously, fostering a risk-tolerate mindest is imperative", Okorie stated. Okorie added that building an entrepreneurial spirit will require embracing the system of continuous learning, engaging in critical thinking in place of worrying over challenges, profering solutions and a visionary personality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqhWofArp2U The Vice-Chancellor of Maduka University, Charles Ogbulogo seek better and more quality qualifications than first-class. A hope for candidates with other Cumulative Grades. The Vice Chancellor of Maduka University, Prof. Charles Ogbulogo in an interview with MySchoolNews TV has revealed that he is not interested in first-class students. Ogbulogo recounted his ordeals with first-class graduates who came to seek for job opportunities from the university only to be disappointed by the outcome. In his words, “I am not interested in your first-class, there are people who have made first class, they come here and after one assignment, they run away because they can't fix it... There are a lot of people by defence who have certificate, diplomas but we are not looking for them. We are looking for those who have things to contribute. I am eager to hire those who have something to contribute”, he said. Adding to this, the one time Deputy Vice Chancellor of Covenant university disclosed that vacancies are still open to qualified individuals who are willing to be disciplined and give nothing but quality. “Here we're talking about intentionality, we cannot take it if you say you have a class for 9am and you are not there by 9am. Where else will you be? So that strict management is what we're talking about. Quality is a function of inputs. If you give nothing you harvest nothing”, Ogbulogo said. The management of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has Increases School Fees for Undergraduates to N82,000 per year or N225,000 per session being asked for academic programmes in Arts or Medicine respectively, The VC Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah said the increment was necessary because UNIABUJA is determined to provide for our dear Students a standard education that is respected globally. According to information made available to MYSCHOOLNEWS, UNIABUJA management said and I quote ''The University of Maiduguri and the University of Ilorin and the Federal University Lokoja etc, all have charges more than your UofA, even while they are not Abuja where costs of goods are crazy'' REVIEW OF FEES: MESSAGE FROM OUR VICE-CHANCELLOR My dear Students, One thing you can trust your Vice- Chancellor for is that I will never take you for granted. Your University wants the whole world for you. I do not want anyone to be greater and more important than the great UofA students, and sometime it needs a lot of sacrifice to achieve this ambition! The issue of charges is a Governing Council affairs and the Council does not toy with it whatsoever. A committee had been working on it for almost a year now, taking into consideration the terrible ever rising inflation, and looking also at charges in sister federal universities. Provost of Health Sciences, Deans of all faculties interacted with their department heads and made presentation to the committee one by one, discussing charges proposals that would be reasonable to ensure that every practical experience needed in every academic programme in their faculties can be provided, and every reagent was costed and step by step the committee considered the minimum charges possible to ensure that your University is in a position to give you a credible experience as students to enable you graduate with knowledge, power and pride. It is unthinkable for the University of Abuja Management to accept that because some people did not go to American University in Yola or Nile-Turkish University in Abuja where they pay millions of naira per academic year as tuition, that those people should be condemned to a second class education. Our goal at the UofA is a world -class education and even with N82,000 per year or N225,000 per session being asked for academic programmes in Arts or Medicine respectively, the UofA is determined to provide for our dear Students a standard education that is respected globally. The Committee that worked on the charges, under the leadership of the University Bursary, included Students Affairs Unit, Student UNION Government and other stake holders from across the management. My dear Students, you will agree with me that getting materials needed for education is one of the most daunting tasks for educational institutions. These charges being introduced reflect the serious national inflation and the UofA's determination that our students cannot and must not receive second class education! Look around the campus, we are creating computer laboratories, we are developing Sports Arena and Indoor Sports Hall, we are upgrading the University Library ensuring that both physically and virtually students can access library materials, we are providing counselling and career services to students, we are employing our own students and student workers are becoming the norm on campus of the great UofA, we are strengthening student mentoring programme on campus, the face of our campus is changing whatever part of campus you go. Just think for a minute, much as some people want students to insist on status quo and cause violence and distrust because of the rise in charges, you know that your University has not stopped improving your standard and providing the services required more than ever before. Many students now get funds for undergraduate research work from the Centre for Undergraduate Research, the Centre for Entrepreneurship is working hard with the University Management to create Incubation where students as they graduate and need help would get the help they need to get their companies on a strong footing, and the list is truly very long. The University of Maiduguri and the University of Ilorin and the Federal University Lokoja etc, all have charges more than your UofA, even while they are not Abuja where costs of goods are crazy! Yet they go about academic session peacefully and making progress. My dear Students, the University Management is about to advertise for scholarship programmes to be instituted on campus for needy students and for students who demonstrate exceptional skills and brilliance. Help is under way for those who need help, and truly your University will not leave you without help! I also here appeal to those UofA students whose parents are well-to-do to encourage their parents to institute scholarship at this University to help your colleagues who might be needy, or target scholarship to women or specific academic discipline or even general cause, and they can name such scholarships after themselves, their parents or any person of their interest. Finally, I want to appeal to you not to join any gangs that would want to create violence on campus due to the increase in fees! Some people who are instigating students don't have their children here and would not ask their own children, if they have them at the UofA, to lead violence. The repercussion is swift and merciless. If anyone is caught anywhere destroying anything or simply disturbing the peace of our campus, I promise you I will descend heavily on such a person by showing him or her a way out. It will pain me to take such action but trust me I will do so. And those faceless people who might not be our students and are being sponsored from outside, some former students, should just think for a moment what the UofA has turned into in its merge to becoming world class. We are ready to meet anyone and discuss as civilised people but we are also ready to keep the peace no matter what! This is a tough time in our country and no right thinking person would abandon dialogue to violence. Management is ready, I must say this again, to continue to dialogue with students while the new semester continues. Some people are not happy that the UofA is moving on where some Universities are speeding backward in reverse. Those people don't want our academic calendar to continue to achieve the level of success it has achieved with the great UofA students graduating regularly and on time, despite recent lecturers strike and despite the corona pandemic lock down before it. The Portal would be opened for students to start registration. The University will not send anyone away from classes due to delay in course registration. The four months of this semester will be open for students to register courses as they are able to pay, so that no pressure is put on any student or any parent. However a few weeks before the end of this semester the Portal will close for good and anyone who fails to register their courses would have forfeited their studentship for the academic year. Please take this opportunity and continue to have faith in your University. You will NEVER regret it! I like to thank the fees committee for the important efforts in putting this together and I commend Student Affairs Unit, the Student UNION Government, the Safety Unit, the Provost and the Deans and the HODs, and all the other stakeholders for being a partner in progress in the UofA's march to greatness. NDICHE COSMAS Lecturer at Department of Geography, UNN urges Merit-Based Voting, Warns Professors Over Election Rigging, A lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has called for voters to prioritize merit over party affiliation in state governorship and the house of assembly elections. The lecturer criticized the "Obedient Movement" for exhibiting zombie-like behavior by blindly following party lines, rather than considering the qualifications and competence of individual candidates. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAHtkPwOGng The lecturer's comments reflect a growing concern among some Nigerians that political party loyalty often takes precedence over good governance and accountability. By urging voters to prioritize merit-based voting, the lecturer hopes to encourage a more informed and thoughtful electorate that can help ensure that the best candidates are elected to office. The Lagos State University LASU Becomes the First Tertiary Institution In Nigeria to congratulate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, this is coming after the allegation that the Lagos State University LASU Management was accused of locking Voters out from voting in the just concluded 2023 Presidential Election, According to the Information gathered by myschoolnews, A Twitter user (JudesonAlex) shared video evidence showing how the institution locked the University's Main Gate. Reacting to the news of INEC declaring Bola Ahmed Tinubu Winner of the 2023 Presidential Election even after all the irregularities pointed out by opposition parties like Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). LASU's Congratulatory Message to Bola Ahmed Tinubu reads; Congratulations, President-Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT . God bless Nigeria. After a tension-soaked wait, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), this morning, declared presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as winner of Saturday’s election. At exactly 4:10a.m., INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced Tinubu the president-elect, putting a fitting finale to a lifelong ambition of the former Lagos State governor, who had summed up his presidential race with the famous Yoruba word, Emilokan. Tinubu will collect his certificate of return at 3:00p.m. later today. Tinubu finished with 8,794,726, nearly two million more votes than his fiercest challengers, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 6,984,520 and Labour Party (LP)’s Peter Obi, who got 6,101,533. The total votes cast was 24,965,218, out of which 939,278 were rejected votes. The drama before the announcement got intense, yesterday, with more protests trailing the conduct of the election. Undaunted by the criticisms, INEC resumed collation of results at the national collation centre in Abuja, releasing the remaining states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). With the latest count, Atiku won 12 states, Tinubu also won 12 states and Labour Party (LP)’s Peter Obi got 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). However, leaders in the West African sub-region have called on INEC to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 on the collation of results for the presidential and National Assembly elections. Former President Goodluck Jonathan, ex-Ghanaian President John Mahama and other members of the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) Election Mission to Nigeria made this known in a statement yesterday in Abuja. They appealed for calm in the country, while calling on INEC to address the concerns and procedural questions raised so far by different stakeholders. According to them, INEC’s compliance will retain the confidence of Nigerians in the ongoing collation of Saturday’s election results. As part of moves to ensure post-election peace, the elders met with the candidates, including Tinubu, Atiku, Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). Earlier on Tuesday, the LP, PDP and African Democratic Congress (ADC) said deliberate refusal of the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to respect the upload of results electronically as stipulated by Section 60 of the Electoral Act 2022 is unacceptable. The three parties said the results so far by INEC showed “monumental disparities” between what the party agents signed at different local government areas in the states and what INEC officials announced in Abuja. They said the manual transmission of results compromised the integrity of the process and demanded a cancellation of the election, while asking the electoral chief to step down. On Monday, party agents had staged a walkout from the national collation centre after Yakubu insisted that the process must continue despite that all the results were not electronically transmitted. Yesterday, the major opposition parties, PDP, LP and ADC have called for Saturday’s election to be cancelled. They also demanded that INEC chairman, Yakubu, step aside for his alleged role in the compromise of the process. Addressing a press conference in Abuja on behalf of other aggrieved political parties, LP chairman, Julius Abure, described the election as a rape on democracy. Abure, who was flanked by PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, ADC National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, alleged that the election was marred by widespread violence, rigging, intimidation of voters, doctoring of results and violation of the laid down electoral process, which was communicated by INEC. He said: “INEC had announced a process, which would require the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for accreditation and voting and that all results would be electronically transmitted from PUs to INEC Servers.” He added that the process, published repeatedly, announced and agreed with INEC by all political parties, was not followed, thereby leaving room for manipulation of the results after Nigerians had voted. According to him, the results announced by INEC, so far, showed monumental disparities between the actual results reported by party agents, party members, and indeed millions of Nigerians, on election day from the PUs. Toeing same line, NNPP said INEC, under Yakubu, has taken the country back to pre-2014 era, where ballot-snatching, vote buying, connivance of security agents among other ills were the order of the day. The party, therefore, called for the immediate cancellation of Saturday’s presidential election. NNPP’s national chairman, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, who stated this at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, said the election was marred by various irregularities ranging from vote buying, violence, voters’ disenfranchisement, BVAS malfunction, among others. Alkali also accused INEC of displaying hostility towards NNPP. He noted that the most disturbing one was when INEC shut the party from submitting its candidates into INEC Server days before the deadline. Alkali said: “We have returned to the era where people who do not participate in an election are declared winners of the election. For instance, in Kano, Ibrahim Shekarau, who formally resigned from NNPP, withdrew from the race, registered with the PDP, conveyed same to the party and to INEC, but the Commission went ahead to declare him winner of an election under NNPP. He observed that the embarrassing decision of INEC to close down the iReV Server might not be unconnected with the widespread failure of the BVAS across the country. He noted that in majority of the Polling Units (PUs) across rural communities, the BVAS machine failed to work. “This very action of colluding with the ruling party and returning to manual transmission has completely compromised the elections. Results were intercepted and changed between PUs and Wards collation centres, between Wards collation centres and Local Government collation centres, and between Local Government collation centres and State collation centres. “To save our democracy, the election results must not be accepted by Nigerians and by all friends of Nigeria. We are, therefore, calling for the immediate suspension of the announcement of result and its collation. New election should be conducted as soon as possible.” SOURCE: https://myschoolnews.ng/lasu-becomes-first-tertiary-institution-in-nigeria-to-congratulate-bola-ahmed-tinubu

The Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Pauline Onyeka Ugochi has reportedly declared the Returning Officer for Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency, FUNAI Prof. Paul Obidike Chukwudi 'wanted' for allegedly disappearing with already collated INEC results, signed and stamped election results for the Federal Constituency, myschoolnews reports. Obidike, a lecturer in the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo was alleged to have 'disappeared' with already signed and stamped results from Ebiaji, Ezza North Local Government Area headquarters, the collation and result announcement centre for the Federal Constituency to an unknown destination. An APGA agent, Marcel Nwokpor who was at the Local Government Area told newsmen in an interview that the academic stormed out of the area without any reason or explanations while they were all waiting for him to announce the results. The source alleged that they alerted authorities of INEC that the whereabouts of the Returning Officer was unknown and they promised to reach him and get back to them. "After a long wait, we sought for his phone number and called him but he denied being the Returning Officer. When we challenged him that his name and particulars are clearly published on the list of retuning officers, he quickly switched off his phone number: 08035067419. We are right now still waiting for him since morning when we last saw him here". Another source claimed that the State's Resident Electoral Commissioner Mrs Pauline Onyeka has consequently declared the Returning Officer 'wanted' for disappearing with the said results. It would be recalled that there have been public outcry over alleged attempts to falsify figures in Umuhuali and other electoral wards in Ishielu Local Government Area of the State and Ikwo Local Government Area of the same Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress by some allegedly compromised INEC staff and security agents. https://myschoolnews.ng/funai-prof-paul-obidike-wanted-for-disappearing-with-inec-results
