CodeTemplarr: Great news in some ways. Before we were subsidising consumption and idleness. People could afford to buy two litres to watch BBNAIJA and Telemundo series. Now it is strictly on a need basis. This will allow the use of power for more of production. Some people say Nigeria has never done anything for them in their lifetime. These are the same set of people enjoying subsidies from education to electricity to petrol to dollars to pilgrimage etc. from the day they were born. Yet they act as ingrates. Even those that collected cheap dollars through form A from CBN to pay for tuition fees abroad are cursing Nigeria as a country. Yes you can curse the politician but not the country. Politicians ruin the country. Now that Nigeria is not paying for subsidies again, all hell let loose. |

ReubenE: This is a very very stupid explanation to give.
So immunity of a serving governor can be delegated or conferred on anyone living around him and anywhere he stays.
If the children of the governor, his wife, siblings, cousins etc kills someone, immunity covers them as long as they live in his house.
All the pots in Ododo's kitchen, his couch, lawn in his compound, fence, gate etc they all have immunity from prosecution. And to imagine Onanuga is drawing a symmetry of immunity of a diplomatic post to immunity of a political office holder.
When the government of Kogi State is suppose to be sued for obstruction of justice, this unfortunate presidential aide is giving a rather clownish explanation Apt. It's a show of shame. The Governor, Ododo does not have power to delegate or confer the immunity he is enjoying. The immunity only applies to him. It does not even apply to his residence. The comparison to the Consulates was highly flawed. |

Gerrard59: His "problem" has been with the recent influx of Nigerian immigrants into the UK. Simple. Also, he seems to have an issue with successful young Nigerians residing abroad who don't support the way things are in Nigeria. To him, everyone should be "patriotic" just as he's - a typical APC supporter mentality. My problem with you guys is talking down a country whose passport you hold. Stop cursing the country. Stop being happy when you see things not working. At the end of the day, you can never be accepted where you are eyeing. Do constructive criticism. Either you make or not, it is not my problem. Respect your own country of birth. Stop acting like a bastard |

SIRTee15: Guy quit it. If you have problem with UK, just say so. U said your tech friends are doing well in naija. What does that tell U about tech guys in uk- U think they will be in penury. Guy my friends in tech in UK are doing really well. All of them are into their 2nd or even 3rd property, sending their kids to private schools and living in expensive neighborhood. And I hope U know there are thousands of naija in the UK tech sector. Tech is the big meat globally, so don't make it look like naija tech guys are living a special life their contemporary abroad are deprived of.
In fact, after USA, I will rate UK tech industry above any other country....mainly due to the strong financial institutions.
Now the question is outside of tech that you have been yarping about, which of the 2 countries offer better career opportunities btw UK and naija
The answer is UK. The training U receive in UK can open doors for U anywhere in the world. Lots of recruiters favours UK professionals esp in places like middle east, far east and even other Anglophile nations. UK nationals- white or other ethnicities occupies the top expatriate professional list in Dubai. I'm a testament to above. So U trying desperately disparage UK for whatever reasons makes no sense.
UK definitely has it's own problems esp with poor wage and rising cost of living. But to write it off based on some prejudice or bias analysis makes no sense.
UK is far better than naija. Even my sister that arrived UK few years ago that I thought would jump at my Canada job offer declined it. She said she's happy and settled in the UK. To be honest, I was surprised at her answer. Note my sister had a very good federal parastatal job in naija b4 relocating to UK. I was vehemently against her coming to UK and I warned her not to resign her job b4 coming. So U will understand my shock when she told she has no plans to leave UK. Well....she's always been an hustler right from teenage years, that could explain it. You turned everything upside down. Maybe you need to revisit the thread and re-read. i will never slight tech guys anywhere in the world, if they have the technical depth. Irrespective of where they are, they will ball. |

tensazangetsu20: Okay i am in the mood now.
Attached is my first contract for an automotive manufacturer in the US I work for remotely
I make 4000 usd a month from that job. I have a second part time job with a company from the dominican republic which i make 2500 usd a month equivalently and my last job which i just got recently is with the chilean state bank where i earn 2.6 million pesos which comes down to around 3000 usd a month. I am also attaching a screenshot of my taxes which I pay from my american job. We no be mates.
You can see that my tax payments coincides with when i got my first remote job as I pay 3 taxes in chile but one of them is as an independent contractor which I need to file for every month F29. My total taxes every month is around 1.3 million chilean pesos. Many chileans dont even earn above 500000 pesos.
I still have another part time job I don't even wanna talk about and I am also trying to get an offer with another bank. My dms have been a mess since I started working for the Chilean state bank Are you alright at all? The currency is not indicated on your payslip but I would even assume your salary is based on the US dollars. You make 2,769.49 per month. In July, you worked overtime and you earned 3,105 USD. This is your Net pay (after tax is deducted). You will pay bills, you will eat. How much does it remains? You are barely getting by. So, where is your much touted 10,000 USD per month coming from. Stop having an exagerrated opinion about yourself. Cockroach behaving like bird. |

Savagethe21st: bro we don't earn lots of money. Firstly nigerian main banks (not fintech startups) usually employ us as contractors(not fulltime) then they pay us within they range us 500 -600k which is not up to 400 dollars now. Fintechs also pay that range or less. To make a million you need to work for more than two at a time which is very stressful and challenging The bolded is a big lie and I know some tech guys, reading your comment, are making a fool out of you right now . One, why are you guys so addicted to the US dollars? Why are you converting your earning to dollars? Are you spending dollars in Nigeria? Are you exposed to the same cost of living? Are you living in the United States? Two, you are employed on a temporal basis as a contractor. They needed more hands and they brought you in, after which you will be discarded. You are not a full time tech staff of the bank. You are not entitled to any perks. Three, your payment is fully dependent on the banks you work for, your tech competencies, your grade. You are a contract staff, and if you demonstrate a vast technical depth, the bank will transition you to a full staff. Four, if you as a contractor can earn between 500 to 600, can you figure out how much a full time bank tech staff is earning ?. And going by this salary you are earning as a contractor, you are not a senior. Just learning the ropes. So, I don't understand what you meant by "we" don't earn that much. Thats quite generalistic, talk about your own situation. |

In your bid to counter, you rushed into typing. At no point did I mention that EVERYONE that gets job in a Govt establishment MUST have connection. Mindlog: You lie!
I am presently a public service worker (govt worker) with a London borough. They advertised a job vacancy on their website, LinkedIn and Indeed.
We were 217 that applied for the job, 34 was shortlisted for the interview which we had at their council headquarters near London bridge.
I was the only one who scaled through and got hired despite still being on the skilled worker visa route and so many other applicants were British citizens. They went through the stress of thoroughly contacting all my references in the Countries I have schooled and worked in and I finally got to switch sponsor.
Now , enjoying the job with good pay package, beautiful working environment few minutes walk to the iconic London bridge and Tower bridge.
My "connection" was my academic qualifications, work history, evident professional skills and God's grace. With time, you will be exposed to all the dirts in the system. It looks seemingly perfect to you now. Spend some time or move up the ladder to management level, you will see they are quite corrupt in the government establishment in the western worlds. |

We have lot of UK graduates with no value now. Most of them pay some individuals to do their course works for them in Nigeria. They learn nothing from the course. They are lucky UK doesn't do exam to test them but mainly coursework-based, otherwise most people will not graduate. How do you explain a UK graduate in a STEM course doing care jobs? |

The job market is saturated that you need to provide something special to be chosen. It's not Nigeria that your Msc cert automatically get you a job even when you can't defend it Tell them, please If only they know the UK universities are packaging most MSc certificates for them in mostly silly courses in order to collect money from them, they will understand.
