Drella:When you read, comprehension is very critical. I will repeat again, read slowly. In Nigeria, you do NOT need connection for getting high paying, professional jobs. It is strictly on merits. Connection is rife in Government jobs and I mentioned, even abroad, they use connection to get govt jobs. If you do not know that they create a needless position abroad, especially in NHS, just to get their people in, then you are still new to the system. It means western worlds are still looking like an earthly paradise to you, you haven't see the internal working. You will learn with time. |
fullclub:You just drifted into UK space. It is early days. Like I earlier stated, life is all about perspectives. You are focusing on the benefits system. Do you know how people and govt view people that are on benefit? They are considered a drag to the system and are denied many things by the govt. For instance, they are not allowed to invite anyone to the UK. Do you know why UK is looking for highly skilled individuals? Because they do not want people with such benefit mentality in their system. They want individuals who can add measurable values into their environments. If you have real value, visa will never be a problem for you in any part of the world. If you are still celebrating getting a visa, then something is wrong with your value system. It should be a breeze. I found it shocking that a lot of people would pay thousands of pounds just to get a visa into another country, pretending to be a student but their main focus is to just get into western world. What a waste of resources! Some people are making over 500 pounds per DAY, you are referencing a paltry Benefit System. You are standing on a wrong leg. Again, do you now see why I mentioned that life was about perspective? |
lastkingsman:At the bolded, truly you are. No apologies, I don't dialogue with a mad man as two of us cannot be mad together. You have stated your wishes for yourself, I can only help you with a loud "amen" |
jmaine:You are quite irrelevant to Nigeria. You dont need to re-emphasise it, I know you are jobless hence your blame on Nigeria for your misfortune. That is why you are blaming Nigeria for your woes. You have zero value. Absolutely none. You will cry and wail tire. Why are you always sad and miserable anytime you are told some people are making it in Nigeria ?. You want to create a blanket impression of poverty for everyone. It is you that everything has shattered for. Some individuals are still making it in Nigeria. Deal with it |
jmaine:I have your time. In Nigeria's case , you will say Nigeria GDP per capita means nothing to you. It turns to UK own, you become epileptic. UK is roughly 69 million in population and 12 million are below the poverty. I quoted to you from the House of Common Library, yet you are still defending the indefensible. Get out of here, numbskull |
jmaine:So says someone who is jobless in Nigeria So says someone who is blaming Nigeria but himself over his failure in life. John F. Kennedy says - "Ask not what your country can do for you- ask what you can do for your country. " Dead weight Someone who has never paid Tax in his entire miserable life. |
jmaine:So you spotted your own folly eventually. Why did you write epistle comparing Nigeria to advanced societies? I intentionally quoted what I quoted to tell you they have staggering poverty rate in advanced countries as well. Do not even change the narratives, I put it out to you, what's responsible for your failure in Nigeria? It is time to stop being generalistic. |
jmaine:Keep choosing and picking. Let me quote you: "Nigerians are among the largest spenders of their income on food with a whooping 54.9%... Yet, you decide to insult others who made a valid claim on the relative cheap food in the advanced societies gulping 5 -6% of their income. How is that comparable? " Why didn't you compare the taxes they pay in advanced countries to what you pay in Nigeria? Why didn't you consider the bills in advanced countries to what you pay in Nigeria ? I put it to you directly, what have you contributed in your personal capacity to advance the fortune of your country of birth, Nigeria? Nothing, I bet. Yet you have the effrontery to spit nonsense here. Since you want to deal in statistics, check the attached which depict the current population in the UK and the number of people below the poverty threshold.
|
VeeVeeMyLuv:The bolded is not true. If you are adequately skilled, put your profile on Linkedln, it is the employers that will be chasing you up and down. Change your mindset, you don't need to bribe your ways through high paying professional jobs in Nigeria. It is MOSTLY on merits and performances. When it comes to Govt jobs, they use connection to get jobs in Government work abroad too, like Nigeria. |
princemaths:Welcome, Secretary General of Committee of Failure ![]() You have opened the book of lamentation like your colleagues. ![]() |
lastkingsman:See, failures have a way of uniting people together to share their sad stories. Why are you not part of the "outliers"? Why did you choose to form a committee of "failures" ? I could see some of your committee members lamenting about their states in this thread. Something is wrong with you. A lizard in Nigeria cannot become a crocodile abroad. If you are given a British passport today, what job do you think you will be qualified for? In your exageration to run Nigeria down, you even confidently LIED about her GDP to needlessly prove a silly point. I have attached the fact about Nigeria GDP to this post so people would see you as a pathological liar who you are. Keep lamenting about Nigeria, while others are making it. Nigeria is just an easy target for most of you, by default, you lack values that can make a big difference economically in your life. That is what you should be aiming to correct instead of this daily cry. Be running after statistics while your mates are living their lives.

nairamaniac:Nigeria runs capitalist economy, Uk runs mixed economy. Compare likes to likes. More so, UK is cutting a lot of the excesses of their citizens in form of benefits. Lot of people are being thrown into poverty and lamenting. Success is inbuilt and not a function of location. If you still see success as a function of location, there is a problem. |
I see a dangerous trend and this is where most of you get it wrong. You are too generalistic. Talk about yourself. Do not hide under others, as others can only explain their situation and case. There are levels everywhere in the world. We can both be in the same country and ball differently. Saying "Nigeria is finished" is silly and too generalistic. If it is finished for you, it is fine for some. To everyone his own. Or because it is not well with you does not mean it is not well with others. Some are in Western world, killing it big while some are barely making it. Life is about perspective. Someone living in Chelsea and Kensignton will have a different perspective from someone living in Dagenham. Walk on yourself and stand out. Talk about your own!. Talk about what is responsible for your situation. Nigeria is not the problem of most people but their past decisions have caught up with them. Talk your own and stop blaming Nigeria for your misfortune in life. Failures always look for who to blame but themselves. Simple. |
tensazangetsu20:Not funny, you sound finished. It would even be better if you dey better country. Chile! Yuck! |
tensazangetsu20:Nigeria is not finished. Maybe you are. People are still getting good jobs. I consult for a financial institution in Nigeria on enterprise tech solution and I know young guys (between 24 to 27 years) getting jobs every week, travelling out on holiday to western world, balling big and coming back. Most of them work remotely, enjoy their lives. Companies abroad headhunt most of them, and the bank keeps recruiting with good pay in Nigeria standard. These guys easily go to any embassy and get visa. I witness it. These guys choose and pick jobs. Banks place them on special salary scale, different from the operations guys. They have enviable perks. Banks send them on trainings in western worlds and they never think of japa. They go and come back, even collect fat estacode. I am not talking about any dicks and harrys, I am talking about tech guys, which is my turf . Come to Island in Lagos and see for yourself. So, if you are finished as an individual, there are some people killing it big in Nigeria, and hey, they are not politicians but they have skillsets which you lack. And hey, how is Chile where you are slaving? |

Emmabyte:Africans and servitude. Why are you fascinated on a man that calls you names and wants to shut you out as immigrants ? Let me put it bluntly, you love Trump but he hates you and he is not hiding it. You love the person that hates you but hates the person that loves you ? Just like America, shouldn’t your personal interest be of highest priority to determine who you will support, even if you are not eligible to vote in the US ?. |
OCMichael1379:Says someone with zero electoral power in the States. |
Mynd44:I was in Ghana with an American friend and I was shocked at how focused Ghana was on tourism. Very structured and making lot of money from their past slavery. We visited Badagry as well and I was ashamed with what I saw. The slavery artefact was kept with a family in one shop. I was shocked. Former Governor Fashola was building a gigantic slavery ship but it has been abandoned. My friend told me Nigeria was not serious and she ended up opening her company in Ghana. Nigeria needs to do better in tourism. |
Gajagojo:God bless you for this piece . Only if the most ignorant can understand. To add to your piece, people don’t know that they could have milllions of naira in their bank account but won’t be able to pay for 500 USD airline ticket or any international services, if Nigeria foreign reserve is depleted. They do not know how foreign reserve is associated with their daily life. Quite unfortunate. |
Lifemanage:Do you know what capitalism is alll about. Why comparing us to the UK which practises mixed economy. Government intervention in a capitalistic environment is occasional and minimal. Nigeria runs a capitalistic economy. |
olaiya2007:With the deep US foreign reserve , they still borrow, stop displaying cluelessness in the public forum. |
creolehunt:Catch 22. If he doesn’t put Igbo in his govt, problem If he does, problem. You see reason why most Nigerians won’t vote for certain set of people for president. |
mohbadliveson:In your heart of heart, if given ministerial appointment today by Tinubu, will you reject? Stop dishing out advice you can’t accept. |
OGHENAOGIE:They looted with impunity and no court could challenge them since they ruled by decree |
OP what does that teach us? How many people were using automobiles then. No house had generators because electricity was constant but our past leaders failed to project and invest in the future when there would be more automobiles. The militaries and the civilians ruined our economy. IBB stole gulf windfall and late Gani Fawehinmi fought him to standstill . Abacha turned CBN to his personal bank. Then came in the civilians with insatiable appetite to steal. Nigeria has had her better days. A litre of fuel can never be sold at that price ever again. Cost of production has shot up. |
Makinde out of all people ![]() That will be the joke of the century. A disaster in Oyo State is now the hero of PDP ![]() |
